Chapter 9 – Grace

I jerk awake, the screams of a she-wolf piercing my dreams and forcing me awake. She is close and I can tell there is a male chasing her by the way she sobs with fear.

“Stay away from me!” She pleads, her voice pulling at my heart. But I curl into a ball and pray that my scent is hidden. I feel like a coward, not running out to help the girl, but if I do while exhausted, he will come for me instead.

“Come on baby. Don’t you want to feel my hard throbbing cock inside you?” The male taunts. I shut my eyes and wish that I did not hear that, hear a man taunting a woman like she is nothing but a brood mare.

“I said stay away from me!” She screams again, but her scream is muffled as a loud thud hitting the ground is heard. Silence follows but then the unmistakable sounds of a man grunting in satisfaction and flesh against flesh breaks it. The she-wolf had been caught and the male has claimed a mate. I do my be

Chapter 10 – Caden I watch with worry as the sky begins to brighten, realizing just how close daylight is. Amelia and I had found the river about an hour ago, walking along the stream up river in hopes of finding Grace. It seems like this petite blonde did not want to give up until we found her friend. But no matter my protest on needing to find shelter, Amelia just keeps going, her resolve stronger than most wolves I have ever met. “Amelia, we need to find somewhere to sleep before we fall from exhaustion.” I state for the umpteenth time, intending to pull the she-wolf to a stop just as she slips, her body falling fast. Luckily, I grab her, pulling her body to mine and see the exhaustion on her face that she kept hidden from my view. “Just a little longer.” She pleads and I sigh, lifting the woman into my arms and moving forward. “If I find a hiding spot before we find Grace, we are going to rest. You say Grace is smart

Chapter 11 – Grace The feeling of being watched settles on my body, my steps slowing as I slowly move away from the water and off the gravel lining the river shores. I have a feeling someone is stalking me like prey and if I need to protect myself, I would rather do it on solid ground and not on gravel slick from the river water. Something inside me screams that this person is not wolf, leaving only two options – Fae or Vampire. I prefer the Fae. Although I continue forward, I keep my senses alert for any movements that will come my way. If its Fae, I will have to stop moving and talk to them, reassure them I am not a threat and show them the token on my ear. If it is a vampire, I will have to be ready to fight to the death. The forest slowly quiets, the sounds of night life fading away until an earie silence is left. Taking a deep breath, I try to pinpoint where the threat is coming from, dodging backwards just in time for a black figure to come crashi

Chapter 12 – Caden The sounds of night animals has me waking, realizing that Amelia is wrapped around me. With a sigh, I slowly pry the she-wolf’s grip from my body and climb off the mattress to stretch and see what the sky outside looks like. Walking out of the cave, I lean against the entrance and scan my surroundings, keeping my senses alert for any signs of movement before turning my gaze to the twilight sky. It looks as if the sun has just set meaning now will be a good time to continue on foot. Amelia and I will be safe from the wolves looking for a mate and I have no intentions of allowing any male to touch this she-wolf. Making my way back inside, I spot Amelia now curled into a ball on the mattress, making me chuckle as I think about how vulnerable this she-wolf is. She is lucky I am the one to have run into her and not some other wolf as she would have been claimed by now with how heavy of a sleeper she is. “Amelia, its time to

Chapter 13 – Grace The scent of the male reminds me of the situation I am in, how he has my body stuck between his and the tree. I curse myself for not paying attention and allowing my mind to wander. If I had kept a clear head, I would not be where I am now. “You smell delicious little girl.” He chuckles, his lips pressing against the crook of my neck as he takes in my scent. I shiver with disgust, waiting for the right moment to throw him off me. Hand begin to roam my body, staring from my thighs and ending at my breast, the wolf groping me as he rubs his erection against my ass. “I bet you like this baby. All my attention on your body. I bet you are just waiting to be fucked.” He chuckles, squeezing my breast one more time before his left hand descends from my breast and slowly down my abdomen, going lower until I feel him between my legs, rubbing small circles through the pants I am wearing. “Get horny for me gorgeous

Chapter 14 – Caden The cry of a male echoing through the night causes my steps to faulter. I have never heard such a blood curdling scream before and the only thing I can think of is that this male most likely messed with the wrong she-wolf. Amelia chuckles, her eyes holding a hint of blood thirsty-ness to it and I roll my eyes at her. "Seems like some one is fighting a she-wolf and lost." She states, continuing forward. We come to the riverside once more and keep walking in silence with only the sound of the river sounding beside us. We kept talking to a minimum, not wanting to attract any attention to us in case others come to investigate that scream. “I have a feeling we are getting closer to where that scream came from.” I point out, Amelia nodding in response. “I agree. Which means there is another she-wolf in the are.” She sighs out. Looking at her from the corner of my eye, I see a hint of sadness in her face. I wo

Chapter 15 – Grace I groan, leaning against an oak tree as I try to think of where the hidden cave may be. An hour has already passed since I have mutilated that male who tried to rape me and I barely made it three kilometers away until the scent of dawn started blowing on the wind. Morning will be here soon and I will need to find a place to sleep for a few hours before I continue to race towards the lodge. But worry gnaws at me. I haven’t seen Amelia after her cage was carried away before the event started. I wonder if she too has found a place to hide and stay safe to avoid the males. Looking up at the still full moon in the sky, I question whether or not I should go and find her, to bring her along with me to the lodge and keep both of us unmated. This would definitely anger her father to have both me winning the bet and his only child unmated. I think back to Amelia and I studying the map a week before The Run began, how we planned to follow the ri

Chapter 16 – Caden "Grace he isn't going to hurt me." I hear Amelia say in a low whisper to Grace. I keep my body still and stay as calm as I can with a large, deadly and powerful she wolf above me. I wince as she growls, her teeth grazing my skin uncomfortably but she isn't going for the kill - yet. Amelia seems to be able to calm the angry wolf above me as the sharp teeth retreat from my neck and the slight pressure I felt pulls back giving me space to breath. Who knew that Grace could have so much power in her blood that it could cause me to have a hard time breathing. "Grace, Caden has been helping me find you and keeping me safe from other wolves. You can trust him." Amelia continues, putting a good word in for me. I thank the Goddess that I met Amelia first. Without her, I don’t think I would be left uninjured if I met Grace alone. I supress the chuckle that wants to leave my lips when I think about how I met Amelia, the blonde tackling me to th

The Blue forest is our safe haven from them, from the wolves that want us dead. I sigh, looking towards the man I am in love with, his gold hair now cut short just like my silver hair. Easier to hide. I wonder as I watch him skin our kill, the hide to be made into a blanket for the winter if we will ever be left alone to fulfill our destiny… My eyes open slowly as the dream fades away. It is the same woman and man from before and I wonder who it is that has been sending them to me. I haven’t dreamt of the Lady from long ago since the Alpha caged me, happy to not be interrupted by them. But now I wonder if they will start again. Chapter 48 – Caden I watch Grace as she sleeps, the ring now placed on her left ring finger gleaming in what ever light filters in from the port hole. She clutches the blanket covered in our scent and I smile. This she-wolf is mine and I am hers. Letting out a soft sigh, I think about the future we will have, a future as King and Queen with pups of our own one day. But something bothers me. We have been able to avoid continuing the Run this time with all the new changes taking place the last six months, but now we have to plan for the next one that is supposed to take place in six months time. I have yet to find a substitute that will prevent senseless raping of she-wolves and allow the women of our nation a chance to actually find love like Grace and I did. We could probably use our engagement as an excuse to cancel the next one, but what about the one after that and the one after that. We need to find a permanent solution and soon. "Ca

Chapter 47 – Grace Staring down at Caden kneeling before me with the ring I have seen many times in portraits of his mother twinkling in the moon light, I feel tear welling in my eyes. To think six months ago I did not want to find a mate in the Run, did not want to have a partner unless it was someone I truly loved and here I am with a man I met in the Run that I want to be with for the rest of my life. "Grace.” His voice is husky, filled with emotions and I spy his eyes slowly growing glassy with tears. “Will you…” He trails off, taking a deep breath and closing his eyes for a moment. I can smell his nervousness in the air, hear the quickening of his heart beat and know that no matter what, I will always say yes to this man as long as he has the courage to ask. His emerald eyes open and stare into mine as love, love for me, is clearly displayed in those gem like eyes. "Grace, My Princess and the love of my life. Will y

I watch as her face goes from a smile to one of shock and disbelief as she takes in the crystal clear lake in front of us with a small sailboat bopping gently on the waves. "Is that a boat?" She gasps out in surprise, her head moving to look at me, then the boat, then back at me. I chuckle, wrapping my arms around her from behind and pull her towards my chest. Resting my head on her shoulder, I place a kiss on the crook of her neck where my mark will one day be. "Yes Grace, that is a boat." I whisper close to her ear, feeling her shiver. I can feel her excitement to climb onto and explore the boat, one that I have a feeling she will be spending a lot of time on. Goddess I love this woman so much. "Would my Princess like to take a cruise on Lady Silver?" I ask, moving to stand in front of Grace as I of

  • The Run   Chapter 45 – Grace

Chapter 45 – Grace "Damn it Grace just sit still already!" Amelia growls out as I turn to look at the clock to check the time for the umpteenth time. She takes my head in her hands and forces me to face the mirror once more, her blue eyes staring at me with annoyance as Brayden chuckles from the couch against the wall. “I’m sorry but he should have been here by now!” I state, slightly pouting as I wait for Caden to arrive. It has been exactly six months since Caden and I had our first date and the nation is celebrating not having to participate in the Run last week. As promised, many she-wolves were able to find their own mate as well as those who chose to absolve their bonds were able to do so with the Council’s help. A lot has chanced in the last six months from Caden and I falling in love, to Amelia being mated to Brayden and now two months pregnant with their first pup, to Karina, Zander and I helping Caleb with revising werewolf laws. Chapter 44 – Caden Staring at Grace before me her face pink with a blush, I can’t help but reach out and graze the back of my hand along her cheek. “Beautiful.” I whisper out, getting a shy smile as response from her. She mumbles a soft thank you and for a moment I enjoy this shy side of her. She has been a strong independent she-wolf before me since we met. Only shedding tears when needed. It has been rare to see her this shy. “Okay love birds, the banquet needs you to make an appearance Caden.” Karina interjects, coming to stand behind Grace. I roll my eyes at my sister before holding my hand out to Grace. “Shall we?” I ask, smiling as she places her hand in mine, Grace giving me an equally large smile. “We shall!” she giggles out, allowing me to lead her from her room in the medical ward and out the building. The music for the banquet can be heard from where we are and I slow my steps, not ready to deal

  • The Run   Chapter 43 – Grace

Chapter 43 – Grace Entering the medical ward once again, I slink my way towards my room and wonder if my nurse knew I had snuck out. I soon learn that yes, she indeed knew I snuck out, as I find her waiting for me in the middle of the room with a frown on her face. “There are clean clothes in the bathroom room for you. Shower and change.” She orders, her no-nonsense attitude making me regret worrying her. I nod, slowly walking around Karina and head into the open door of the bathroom. Shifting to my human side, I turn the handles to the small shower and step into the warm spray. My body is still not at peak strength and fighting Felix had taken a lot out of me. I groan in satisfaction as the hot water pelts against my sore body and lets my thoughts wander to Caden. With him now being the Alpha King, my life will change. I know I have feeling for him, that I want to date him and see where our relationship goes, but I also know that I will be under scruti

Chapter 42 – Caden The crowd around has dispersed once Grace chased after Felix. I can’t help but turn to look at my father’s body and let out a sigh. A funeral will need to be arranged for him as well as plans for my coronation. “I already called a few wolves to come take his body to the morgue.” Zander’s voice calls out softly, his hand patting my shoulder as he comes to stand next to me. I thank my best friend, realizing that we will also need to have an initiation ceremony to hand over the Beta title to him once we return to the Royal Pack. Caleb and Cody walk over to us, their faces lit with smiles as they pat me on the back. “You lucky dog!” Cody chuckles out, throwing his arm over my shoulder and pulling me into a side hug. “That silver she-wolf is one heck of a woman and you just declared your interest in her just like that? Should I start calling her ‘You’re Majesty’?” He continues laughing. I roll my eyes, a smi

Chapter 41 – Grace A scrawny tawny wolf tackles Caden, his jaws snapping at the man I love but Caden manages to doge it, even manages to hold back this scrawny wolf’s face from taking a bite from him. Furious, I find myself moving, my steps turning into a run and before I know it, I have shifted into my silver wolf and tackling the intruder away from my Caden. The wolf rolls harshly onto the ground as I stand protectively between him and Caden, my fury boiling at the coward that tackled the newly named Alpha King from behind. Something tells me this is that cousin Caden mentioned a few days ago. The tawny wolf regains his footing, shakes out the dirt and dust from his fur before turning to growl at me. He is frustrated I interfered but so what, he is the one that attacked Caden without a challenge. I watch his every move, waiting to see when he will attack and I don’t have to wait too long. With clear intentions of where he is going to strike, I dodge

We have survived the Run and now I have a date to plan for the two of us. I smile, thinking about how I plan to romance the she-wolf in my arms, to show her a side of me that I have dreamed of giving a woman. She see’s me as Caden, the friend she made in the Run and not as Prince Caden, the man who will rule all the wolves in the world.
