Jennita’s pov

It wasn't until then I realized I had been holding my breath.

We both turned away from each other, avoiding each other’s gazes as we apologized for letting the situation escalate out of hand. Well, I did. He just sat there, his jaw clenched, his gaze trying to settle anywhere else but on me.

“Your suggestion seemed to be well thought out and strategized, Beta Jennita, but Alpha Antonio is right. Unless we can be able to certify that the spies we’d be sending out would be cautious and easily blend in without drawing major attention to us, we can’t proceed with it.”

I nod quietly, feeling my body still brimming in anger from what had just ensued. “Yes, Your Majesty.”

The meeting continued, this time, the conversation seemed to flow more naturally between us all. Antonio chipped in once in a while, ensuring to avoid directly answering me, but I could tell as he slouched in his seat, arms folded and head tilted to the side, he looked anything but ecstatic to be here.
