"There...there, Selena you are strong and do not need him." Anna continued comforting me, pulling me in for a comforting hug.
"And you can sleep at my place until you are ready," She offered, being a supportive friend, letting me have somewhere to sleep tonight, on her couch as she shared a small apartment with another roommate already. Still, I did not want to burden her like that by overcrowding her place and not having rent money.
"I have to get a job, I need one," I replied while thanking her too.
"Actually I will jot down, some places that you can try," Anna quickly said to me while taking a piece of paper to jot down some places that usually hired people. She knew that I had spent all my money and savings to come here, only to end up being rejected by that jerk.
I realized that right now I did not even know what I was going to do next. I could not go back home to my father in shame like this. I could not even imagine the look of disappointment that would be on his face if he saw me, after running away like that.
I can admit that I had really acted like a fool.
The only thing left was for me to get a job. Find a place of my own and then hope that I would somehow find a way to continue my studies and wish for a better future.
Using the last money in my pocket, I headed for the internet café to create some CVs and job applications. Leaving Anna to go back to work before her fuzzy boss would notice.
Time seemed to fly so fast. I first applied to different companies online. Then printed some more cv documents to go visit the places that Anna had written down.
Man who knew that looking for a job could be this hard!
More hours passed of me getting rejected by each place or company that I visited. Releasing a tired sigh, I stared up at the last company on my list.
Wolfrik Enterprise. The company's building was very tall, being one of the tallest skyscrapers that I had ever seen. It looked fancy with lavish-looking glass walls.
If places that looked smaller had rejected me, I knew there was no hope for me to even get into a company like this. But it was better to try right?
After entering, I ended up regretting it. I was totally underdressed in my simple dress, while they all wore expensive-looking outfits.
I headed for the reception area.
"Hello, what can I do for you," The receptionist asked while already staring down at me with a sneer.
"Yeah okay, I know that I don't belong here, but you don't have to be such a snob about it!" I almost wanted to say and snap back at her.
But I took a deep breath to calm myself instead.
"Hmm, I don't think we have any position for people like you. We only employ MBA graduates even for admin and assistant roles." She told me without even taking a look at my CV.
I just sighed from having expected this.
But she just had, to add an insult to my injury.
"Why don't you try applying to cleaning agencies or lower places. I am sure being a maid would suit you better or better yet, go be a bar waitress. That is where people like you belong after all."
This made me grab back my cv while glaring at her. She was really asking for it!
Not wanting to end up getting dragged out of this place by security for assault, I turned around in a rush to leave instead.
Only for me to end up colliding with someone while being blinded by my anger.
"I am so sorry," I whispered feeling mortified. I quickly leaned down to help them pick up the file and papers that they had been holding.
"No problem, I too was not looking at where I was going," The man replied with an easy-going smile. So unlike the mean Barbie receptionist who was now giving me a smug disapproving look.
Once done, helping him pick up his stuff, I quickly rushed out of there.
But before overhearing that rude receptionist greeting the man I had collided with by the name 'Cade'.
However once outside I felt depressed.
Maybe rude barbie was right, my certificates and experience meant nothing here. But I was so desperate, for any job actually I just did not care.
I needed something to make a living here.
As I walked lost in my thoughts, it was then I heard my phone ring. After answering, I was elated to hear that one of my online applications had worked.
After being given the address I quickly headed there.
"Sam's butchery," The sign read.
It was a charming-looking butchery, the kind of place I could see myself working at. And oh the sweet, smell of fresh meat! It made me already start to miss farm life back home.
"I am here for the job," As I told the butcher owner Sam this, he stared at me in surprise.
"You are Selena," he asked again and I nodded that I was.
I could see why he was skeptical, because of my small frame and feminine look.
"And you can handle meat?" Sam asked again,
"Yes let me show you," I replied, confidently asking for one of the aprons. If only he knew that I was a country girl at heart and had grown up surrounded by meat and farm animals. That is how my father made a living, selling meat to other shop markets.
As soon as I took my knife, the chopping board, and started working, I could see Sam looking impressed.
"You are hired," he quickly told me and had me start working immediately because he had many orders.
All I could think inwardly was YES I had at least found a job.
Axel`s POVIt was just another day in the life of Axel Wolfrik or the King of the Rogues as he was commonly called by his people. Even humans respected him as Axel the Billionaire and owner of the billionaire enterprise Wolfrik. His limo driver immediately rushed to open the door for him as they arrived at his Company. He only employed his people, werewolf rogues, and their mates. This from wanting to have his freedom to use his werewolf abilities at work too, whenever he wanted. Each employee that he passed, all lowered their heads in respect and none dared to stare him right in the eyes. Because in werewolf culture that was considered a challenge and no one dared to want to challenge him. After all, they knew how much he relished in destroying his enemies and those who dared try to think they could win against him. Axel also showed no mercy to traitors and had grown up learning to always fight for what he deemed his.No one
As I walked home, although tired after a day`s work, I happy about my new job. Sam was also the best boss ever. I just knew that I was going to enjoy working for him. He was kind too and had even offered me a ride home but I had to refuse not wanting to become a bothersome employee. After all he had even offered me my salary in advance after I told him about my situation. Which meant that I could quickly move into my own place and stop overcrowding at Anna`s. Its why I was walking late at night. I had to first visit my new place as luckily Anna knew people and had easily organized a place for me.The home belonged to some elderly couple but they were apparently moving to another country to be near their grandchildren. And so they were renting out their place for cheap just wanting it to have some to live and maintain it. The rent was so cheap, and why I had rushed as soon as work finished to go see it.If late, I knew someone else would snatch it up.It was also
Axel POVAs Axel woke up, he was shocked that his wolf had actually listened to him for once and made him end up on the bed and back home. Usually he always woke up naked in the forest! The perks of having all your staff be werewolves too was that if your wolf arrived by the gate they would open to let you in. All the doors also had extra wolf sized hatches for his wolf to pass through in too! However Axel wondered what was making his wolf so happy. But then he looked down as his stomach rumbled from hunger.“The heck Damon, did you not hunt last night? If not what the hell did you spent all night doing?” Axel grumbled as he got off the huge expensive bed to go see if his personal chef had made something. He had made sure that forest had all kinds of wildlife for his wolf to fill that ravenous appetite of his. However he ended up almost tripping on a packet of freaking meat! Luckily he did not totally fall because of us
After work, Axel texted Cade and Sam that he was not joining them at the forest. Today Axel planned to have his wolf shift home, after all, the troublesome wolf seemed to no longer want to hunt. So he had ordered meat from Sam for it to eat and night and if he wanted to run, he could run in the second forest of his backyard mansion. As he got ready to shift and let his wolf take control, his chef entered bringing the plates of delicious fresh raw meat for his wolf to feast on tonight.“Thanks Anton,” Axel said to him, Anton was the only person that Axel trusted to handle his food without poisoning it.“My pleasure sire,” Anton replied walking over to place the last plate with a mountain of meat. But as he did, Axel found himself freezing as he smelt that scent again! What the hell he wondered!First it had been Cade, then Sam and now his own chef too!Dread filled him as he wondered if he was developing an attraction
Waking up the next morning, I was surprised to find myself laying on a pillow with a blanket covering me. My first thought was how had that blanket and that pillow, moved all the way from my bed and where the heck is Wolfie! Seems he had disappeared again. I got up calling for his name but he was no longer here. Maybe he went to hang with his other wolf friends, I thought with a sigh. I guess I was okay with him only coming to me at night just as long as he was safe. Now that I think about, I also had to save money for the Vet. So that he did not get fleas or sick out there. That is if I could even find or catch him during the day. Man being a new pet owner was work. Still I made sure to leave a container with water and another with some canned beef in case he would come during the day with her gone. “Sam see ya, I have to pass by the pet store. I have a new pet now,” I shouted to Sam as workday ended. ‘Good for you Sel! You should bring him one day, I love pets.” He happily
Another morning with Wolfie having disappeared whenever it became day, I sighed as finished drinking my tea. Still though I was happy that he at least seemed to like and eat the pet food. It was the cheapest one there which I could afford instead of having to buy canned foods every day. A smile quickly came on to my face as I received a message from Diana with the club name and address. She had finally got the details from the friend of a friend. Although I knew I was going to be overworking myself with double shifts, I needed the money. The only problem I would have was Wolfie, but I would sure he would wait for me even if I started coming later in the night. Now at work as I stood chopping some meat on a board, I stopped as soon as I heard the voice of a customer I did not have fond memories of. But Sam was not here and so I had to go to the till and serve her. “So you took my advice after all, see how much you really fit in here with all the blood and the meat,” She quickly c
Axel`s POV “Pet FOOD?” Cade asked again before he burst out laughing his heart out. Axel scowled, now regretting having called in his second in command. He only stopped laughing upon hearing Axel`s annoyed growl echo as they sat in his home office back at his Mansion after work. “Sorry boss, so all I have to do is let Cole out and hope Damon will let him follow.” Cade finally said now serious. Axel nodded. Just like their odd friendship in real life while having totally opposite personalities, it was the same for their wolves. Cade`s wolf Cole was the only wolf that Damon never snapped at. It was like he considered the brown wolf his little annoying sibling. But there was trust too, from sharing a traumatic childhood together. “Easy peasy, just say the word and I will be ready,” Cade replied, playfully spinning the chair he sat on around. Just as Axel was about to tell him annoyedly to stop doing that to his chair, he froze. “Wolfie!” A melodic and beautiful voice desperatel
Cade/Cole`s POV It had been hard for Cade to keep up with Damon`s speed but he had managed. Wanting to follow his King`s orders to keep up and not lose sight of his wolf. Unlike the other rogues, Damon even while noticing and knowing Cade`s wolf was trailing behind, he did not attack him. Instead, he let him follow with his focus seeming to be focused elsewhere than caring about being followed. Still even right now Cade felt breathless from all that running. He wondered where they were even in a rush too. What had Damon running so urgently? But as they arrived, Cade scrounged his nose upon smelling the disgusting smell of corpses, a scent that only Vampires gave to wolves. Currently, Rogues had a truce with Vampires. Axel tolerated them as long as they did not cause much disturbance with the humans by killing or feeding too much. So rogues never cared about them. Then why was his King`s wolf-headed for them with murderous rage shining in his eyes? He quickly realized why as he n
