Darwin blinked and I watched in surprise as his face seemed to go confused. “Sister?”

“Yeah,” I pushed on, “your sister. You know, from your pack,”

Almost immediately his eyes lit up for a second so small I almost thought I imagined it. “Serena! Her name is Serena,”

Serena? Where is she? Why has Darwin never spoken about her?

I crawled off the bed and walked slowly towards him. “Your sister's name is Serena,” I repeated slowly.

He gave me an affirmative nod. “Yes. I had a sister called Serena,”

“And where is she? What happened?” My heart sank at the word— had.

Did he lose her and was I being insensitive by asking so plainly?

“I…” Darwin pauses and cocked his head strangely. “I don’t remember,”

He doesn't remember? That makes no sense.

“What do you mean, you don't remember? You don’t remember what happened to your sister?” I asked incredulously.

“No,” he shook his head like some clueless child.

“What…What about your parents? And the throne?” I asked as suspicion crawled up
