Lydia’s Pov

I watched in horror as Darwin wrapped his hand around the elixir on Wilson’s throat and snapped it off.

“Darwin!” I pushed past a shocked Margery and ran up to stop him from doing anything stupid.

“No, Lydia!” Darwin growled angrily as he whipped his head to me.

“I asked you! Again and again about the elixir and you liedl”

My tears fell down my cheeks as I tried and failed to grab onto his arm.

“It wasn’t my secret to tell!” I shook my head to get him to believe me.

“I I tried to warn you and tried to—“

“Tried to gather information so you could blackmail me!” Darwin was so angry he was past caring.

Just then a static sound filled my head. I lost all sense of my thoughts as I shut my eyes and gripped my head to get the sound to stop.

And it stopped.

Only I somehow knew I was in someone else’s head.

“Amari!” Darwin’s wavy voice filled my head.

“Get the guards here Now!”

I froze wide-eyed in shock. Did I just hear the mind link between Darwin and his commander?
