The new normal.

“Get some sleep.” Lorrel says as she takes both babies off me. I had been stitched and told that I now couldn’t leave bed until at least lunch time.

Leona was born at 12.02am, it would seem she wanted her own birthday after all.

I would be forever be indebted to Brennan and Colette for all that they have done.

Just as I start to drift off the door opens and her scent enters. My wolf, who was tired but she is more present now that we are no longer pregnant, growls as Felicity walks over to Leona.

She watches her intently for a few moments before seemingly happy with what she sees. This tradition had to stop, what would they do if a baby wasn’t a lycan? Toss it out onto the streets, absolutely not! So what was this necessary.

“A beautiful princess, congratulations my King and Queen….and a lycan she-wolf hybrid by the looks of things.” She nods having checked Leona’s eyes flash to that of her wolf’s. I noticed my daughter’s eyes as soon as I held her, bright blue ju

Gone back in her word. Trying to organise a moon blessing with a few hour’s notice wasn’t the easiest. Luckily the babies could be asleep under the night’s sky as the moon’s glow blessed them for their future to come. Lorrel had organised the canteen staff to put food together at short notice for our closest family and friends.I had invited Alpha Ray and Luna Rennie, Alpha Rory and Rowan along as Rafe. I didn’t care if I was accused of favouritism at this time, they had supported me from day one and I wanted them to be part of our twin’s future. Being at such short notice we just couldn’t invite everybody, like Valentina and Lance’s other cousins, Hong or Tate. But Colette, Mav, Rayna, Axel and a few Lycan council elders would be present. “Congratulations King Lance and Queen Aida.” Fern warmly sneaks a peek at the sleeping babies in the royal home garden. I had placed them in their Moses baskets on stands, wrapped in the wool blankets Luna Rennie had gifted them. “Thank you Fer

A High Priestess.“Axel, Brennan, watch the babies!” I order as I leap out of bed and rush out the bedroom door. I race along the hallway and down the stairs towards the living room. “Miss Aida!” She happily greets me as she is sitting in front of the television watching a princess film with Lorrel. “I just found her in here…” Lorrel shrugs until she takes in my appearance and stands up. “What’s is it?” “The witches are at war. Fern can’t protect Olivia anymore.” I whisper to her. “Goddess, where’s Fern?” “I don’t know, she’s just evaporated into thin air. I think she has sided with her sister.” My hand grips my forehead, a headache suddenly coming on from this unexpected change in events. “Let me call the high priestess Danika, she’ll give us a good indication of what has transpired.” “The child?” Lance’s voice enters my mind. “She’s fine, she’s watching television.” I respond through the mind-link as I hear Lance walk down the hallway. “Let’s not panic Lance until we know w

Visiting the Saunders Pack. “What the fuck does that mean?” Lance roars as he pushes the back of his chair out. His hand that was resting on my thigh is pulled abruptly and slammed on the table as he positions himself in an aggressive leaning forward posture. “She’s put a link in place….” Danika answers, keeping her chin high and not at all showing any fear of the alpha king in front of her. But I could hear her heart, we all could. “…I’m afraid she’ll always be able to find their location.” “Is there anything we can do? Anything that will help break the link?” I push my chair out and stand next to Lance. Adopting a strong posture, not as scary as Lance’s but sending a message all the same. She looks at me for a moment, was she trying to hide something? I could hear her trying to calm her quickening heartbeat. “No!” She responds without any tone as if it went against her better judgement to say that word. Why did Fern mention lavender? What was the significance of lavender. “So

Trying to get ready. His back straightens before his entire body stiffens, knowing my eyes are on him. He closes the bedroom door before turning to look at me. I meet his stare, I am no longer his little sister, I am his Queen. He doesn’t move from his spot and neither do I, until Olivia runs out and holds my hand. “Aida, I have a whole room to myself!” She beams up at me before looking at the person who has captured my interest. His eyes widen as his mate’s daughter holds her hand in mine. “Who is that?” She whispers to me and I just answer her with a small smile. What would I say? That is your mother’s mate, your stepfather? Lance steps outside of the room, carrying both Lex and Leona, who remain sleeping in his strong secure arms. Henri’s eyes drift down to the nephew and niece, the heirs, asleep in my mate’s arms. He takes a small step towards us and it is enough for Lance to order both myself and Olivia into our room and he closes the door behind him. “Just ignore him ang

Fireworks. We were placed at the front with Hong’s and Isla’s family. Not many alphas and lunas could boast of a King and Alpha Luna attending their ceremony. I had asked that Olivia stayed close to me for the evening, especially knowing my brother and Saskia were also guests here. Which meant we had somehow also adopted Jia for the evening. Her and Olivia had become inseparable. After the ceremony we were moved into a marquee for a sit down reception where the food was exquisite. Lance smirked at my hunger knowing full well our earlier activity had caused the need for extra calories. I was getting a few odd stairs for the lavender that had been moved from the cribs and now hung on the double pram, but I just made it seem the children liked the smell. The escalating witches war wasn’t common knowledge yet, especially as not all werewolf packs have dealings with the craft community. After dinner a band played some romantic songs and we watched as Hong and Isla danced alone on the

Under attack!Another boom shakes the alpha house’s sturdy brick walls, that sounded closer this time. “Lance?” I scream through our link as Lorrel and guards rush through the door. “We are under attack, stay in the alpha house!” He orders at me as I feel pain hit me through the link. “Lance?”“They’ve broken through the border, lock down the house with you and the twins inside!” He commands before he cuts the link. No I wasn’t that type of mate, I wasn’t useless. He’ll call me reckless but would he stand aside and let me get injured, no! So why should it be any different for me. I was just as good as any of the lycans fighting out there and more talented with my skills than the majority of the werewolf fighters. “Aida…what’s going on?” Lorrel demands of me as my eyes refocus from coming out of the mind-link with Lance. “Lance says rebels have broken through the borders!” I update her before I rush into the next room and pick up a sleeping Olivia and carry her back into our bed.

Taking control of the wheel. Now I bloody wished I completed driving lessons. But I knew enough to pull this off…I hope. If I could time this right, the witches will see the car too late but still send a fireball in its direction. With the amount of gunpowder in this car, it should cause them some damage. Maybe be enough to let our fighters take a breath. What exactly kills a witch? Fire…they have that in abundance. Water? I can’t exactly drop a river on them. Weapon…it’s has to be a weapon to the heart surely? Or enough gunpowder to burn them alive. There was enough in this car for sure. I start the engine, my heart pounding from memories from long ago. I had been doing so well. The nightmares hardly plagued me anymore, not since Lance marked me, not since the Lex and Leona. “Aida…where are you?” Lance growls through my head but I manage to shove him out, and keep my block up. “What are you doing?” Henri mouths to me from the short distance of his hiding place. Joining the fight. Where had they all come from, where were they being hidden? As soon as we think we have sorted out the rebel rogue problem, more seem to pop up out of nowhere. “Reform a line!” Lance roars out his order at both the lycan and werewolf fighters trying to hold off the rebel invasion. If we make it through this, the Saunders pack will need a lot of support rebuilding their houses, replanting trees and burying their dead. “Aida…” He growls at me, his eyes turning from red to a black. “I can’t leave you, not now I’ve seen this!” I couldn’t leave him, I couldn’t just go back and hide in a room. I had to help, I had to fight for our children. “You stick next to me, Axel and Mav.” He orders and I nod in agreement to his terms. “I mean it angel!” He pulls me closely to him, to his chest. The fast movement makes me dizzy and I have to place my hands on his chest to stop myself from stumbling. “Got it!” I whisper to him, tiptoeing and just managing to plant a kiss on his

A pledge. Lance POVAida had been extremely quiet on the drive back home. After packing we said our goodbyes and wished Trey good luck for his training with Giovanni. “Are you okay?” I place my hand on her thigh, as I check the rear view mirror. Both babies were sound asleep in their car seats and I was leading the security convoy back home. Brennan insisted on returning sooner than planned with us, he wanted to give Aida a full check up. He quietly said to me that judging by the twin’s early arrival we need to consider March onwards for her delivery. “I’m just a little shocked that’s all.” “You’re putting your block up, I can’t feel you. Aren’t you excited?”“Yes of course, of course I am. I just…I just wanted to do the training…to help keep them safe.” She looks out of her side window, not letting me look at the emotions on her face. “Angel, you don’t need to train to keep them safe. I have an army of warriors to keep them safe, I will keep you all safe.” …..“Aida would you

Boxing DayChristmas was everything and more. We didn’t buy Lex and Leona much because..well they are babies and didn’t actually know it was Christmas. The day was more for us and I thoroughly enjoyed making those memories as a family. Blake’s and Trey’s ceremony was beautiful and I can see why people waited for a special marking. But Lance had waited for so long to mark me that I didn’t regret our love story for one moment. Our wedding would be our celebration in front of our family and friends and the ceremony got me excited to start planning when I returned from training with Giovanni. I would definitely ask Blake to help with the planning. Their ceremony was under the winter night’s sky with the stars acting as twinkling fairy lights against the strong moon’s glow. She had been growing her hair out for the occasion and instead of the pixie cut when I first met her, she had managed to grow it out into a long bob, which she styled wavy with winter berries styled in a number of r

Christmas with the family. It was now December, Christmas Eve to be precise, and I was so excited to not only experience Lex’s and Leona’s first Christmas but to start training with Giovanni on Boxing Day. I had weaned Lex and Leona completely off me and they were now on solids and cow’s milk. Colette couldn’t believe their development. I knew shifter children developed quicker than human babies, but Colette found it hard to get her head around it. In fact, Lex was almost a similar size to Rayna even though he was 5 months younger than her. Colette was heavily pregnant and her mood swings were increasing. She was quite adamant that she didn’t want to know the baby’s gender this time around and was quite blunt to Mav about it. They had moved back to their house near the Mulder pack, she wanted her space and I understood, she was uncomfortable nesting in someone else’s home. I still saw her regularly and Mav every day. We had even babysat Rayna a couple of times so Colette could get

Saying goodbye. “Trust the Mulder Alpha, he holds the second of three!” Fern’s voice kept ringing in my ears. Is that what she meant, that Rory’s dagger was similar to the dagger Fiona used in the battle. Would it have killed me? It didn’t kill Fern, but is that because she has tied herself to Leona and Lex? It certainly was a powerful weapon. I could feel its power as soon as it cut my palm. With every cut it took longer to heal. I could feel a slight tingle in the wound, as I clasp it open and shut repeatedly. “Still healing?” Lance’s voice comes from the office door, his body engulfing the door frame as he lent up against it. “It’s taking longer this time.” I say as I trace my finger across the wound, even with Lance’s alpha saliva it wasn’t quite there yet. “Want me to re-lick it?” He smirks seductively as he walks into the office and closes the door behind him. “Well…if you’re offering.” I smile back at him before taking on a more serious tone. “I think Rory’s dagger migh

Setting out the terms. I was woken up by a few things. Something hard poking me from behind, Lance also snoring behind me…so that explained the something hard poking me from behind. I also woke up hot and sweaty, which hasn’t happened to me in a long time. I don’t remember dreaming last night, maybe it was a hot night. It was August after all and the summer heat was still clinging on before the autumnal wind change in a few week’s time. Lex was stirring whether he also added to my early awakening or his stirring was a result of my awakening…goddess knows. I throw on my nude leggings and a vest top before taking Lex down with me before he wakes up his daddy and sister to change him and give him some milk. I’m not even sure what the time was but the morning still had a slight darkness to it which for summer would tell me is was between 4am and 5am. The moon was just starting her transition of handing over the light shift to the sun. Lex and I settle down on the sofa once he has b

A chosen family. It was now dinner time and Rory had returned to the royal home having watched some trainees down at the training base. I know Rowan is keen to train and I wonder, when of age, if Rory will agree to enlist him. He hasn’t admitted it but I know he is impressed with Rafe’s training, especially as he has been heading up the Mulder pack security function recently. I had offered to make dinner tonight, even with Axel’s playful rude comments about my cooking. He said if there was a French fry in sight, he would order a takeaway in. Okay so that did spoil my initial plan but then I offered spaghetti bolognaise, garlic bread and salad for everyone and their mouths were already drooling from the mere prospect. There was fifteen of us sitting around the table, including my cutie Rayna. She was so proud to be sat in a high chair and eating the same dinner as the grown ups. Although she was making quite a mess of her outfit…and the floor for that matter but I didn’t care. I’m s

A tight black vest top with skin coloured leggings. She said my wardrobe space was huge and looked very sad with nothing in it. So I ordered a few bits on her recommendation, and clearly my fiancé appreciated my attire today. “Do you have any idea how sexy you look in those leggings?” His eyes turn to that of a predator, ready to devour me. His eyes remain on me, my skin heating under his focused stare, as he prowls towards me. My body reacts to his movement, my breathing quickening as my breasts rise and fall under my tight vest. He leans into me, encasing me against the de

A forever friendship. Three weeks have passed and the dust was starting to settle. The Saunders pack had lost a lot of warriors and we have been providing lycan muscle to help protect their borders while they train pack members in case another attack occurred. However, you could be the best trained warrior yet a fight against witchcraft would completely reduce your chances of survival. This brought a new fire to my belly in ensuring the safety of the shifter community’s future. The Santos Lycan training programme was actually over subscribed and fully booked for the next two years. Alpha’s were keen to ensure their warriors were trained at the highest level. I think it also helped that they had pledged to me and knew I wouldn’t let anything untoward happen to their male and female fighters whilst on Royal Lycan land. Rafe had completed his training and I was sad to see him go. I missed seeing him around the training base. Alpha Ray and Luna Rennie came to his graduation, even Rowan
