Chapter Seventy-Three

The aftermath.

Dread fired my vessel, as if my mind was too scared to remain attached to my body. My chest was aching from the soul destroying realisation

“Aida? Aida, what’s wrong?” Lance races to me, all colour feels like it has dropped from my face.

“Fern…she’s dead!”

“She protected you…he would have killed you!”

“She bound herself to Lex and Leona….” I started to run, not even realising I was still naked. I had to get to our children, to make sure they were okay.

The same fear hits me through the mate bond from Lance.

“I can’t get hold of Mother through the link…” Lance growls in my head as he overtakes me, as does Mav, Brennan and Axel. Hong, Tate, Rory and Henri are on my tail, faster runners than me but I had a heads start.

I run all the way to the alpha house. I couldn’t feel my legs anymore, they had turned to jelly. But I kept pushing myself.
