Chapter 4

Author: Dreamy Fire
"Please, Dr. Fielding! Save my father. I'll give anything!" Vincent pleaded desperately.

Bernard's life was crucial for the family, and as his son, Vincent was willing to do whatever it took.

Xander sighed. "Your father will not make it through the night. But since I'm here, you have another option. I can extend his life by a month. Decide quickly."

Before Vincent could respond, Bernard croaked out with great struggle, "D-Do it."

Vincent quickly agreed. Prolonging Bernard's life for a month was better than losing him now.

Meanwhile, Wendy had slipped out of the room, looking visibly torn as she held her phone. She remembered the phone number Felix had given them earlier that day due to her sharp memory.

"Grandpa, I'll do anything for you," she murmured, her face set with determination.

At a certain residential area in Avesburgh, Felix stood in front of a three-story villa, feeling a mix of emotions. It had been three years since he last saw Warren Quinton.

Warren had been his father, Matthew Zeller's, best friend since childhood, and they shared a bond closer than that of blood brothers.

Just as Felix was about to ring the doorbell, he received a phone call from an unknown number.

"Hello?"

"This is Wendy, who brought over the Miracle Card earlier today. First, I want to apologize. Can you please come to check on my grandfather? He's coughing up blood like you predicted."

Felix couldn't help but smirk. Some people just needed to learn the hard way.

"Alright. Send a car to pick me up. I'm at Villa No. 6 in Azure Residences."

"Okay. By the way, we have a master healer here who claims he can extend my grandfather's life by a month."

Felix replied casually, "Tell him to leave. Doing so will only make your grandfather beyond saving."

As soon as he hung up, a voice called out, "Felix?"

Looking up, Felix saw a middle-aged man in the yard, staring at him in disbelief.

"Uncle Warren, it's been three years. You look even younger than when I last saw you."

Warren's eyes instantly filled with tears. He couldn't believe it was his best friend's son standing before him. "Thank God! My prayers have been answered!"

He rushed out and hugged Felix tightly, tears streaming down his face.

After a brief but heartfelt reunion, they went inside the villa.

"Nattie! Sasha! Look who's here!"

In the living room, a woman was lounging on the couch while watching TV, her legs extended in full view.

"Ah! Pervert, what are you looking at?" she screamed when she locked eyes with Felix. Upon realizing he was a stranger, she bolted upstairs.

"Warren, really? Sasha was practically naked. You should've told us someone is coming! Who is he anyway?"

Felix immediately recognized the two women. One of them was Warren's wife, Nattie Wood, and the other was their beloved daughter, Sasha Quinton.

"Nonsense! She's not naked. And even if she were, so what? Felix isn't a stranger."

Nattie scrutinized Felix, and then it clicked. "Felix Zeller?"

Her expression unexpectedly became bitter as she said, "What? Are you back to freeload off us?"

Felix understood her implication. After his parents passed away, he lost interest in managing the family business, which was subsequently taken over by his relatives.

Later, he met Gerald and decided to give the millions of dollars left by his parents to Warren for safekeeping. But little did Nattie know that Felix no longer cared about money.

"Shut it! Prepare some food. Now that Felix is finally back, we're going to have a drink. Stop spouting nonsense if you don't want me to get pissed."

Sensing Warren's rising anger, Nattie reluctantly went to the kitchen.

As Warren led Felix to the dining table, he beamed with joy.

"I'm so glad you're back. If it weren't for your financial support, my company wouldn't be where it is today. You basically own half of the company.

"Also, I once made a promise with your father to arrange a marriage between you and Sasha. It's about time we start planning your wedding."

Before Felix could refuse, Sasha, now dressed properly, reappeared.

"No way! Dad, you want me to marry him? Absolutely not!"

Sasha was undeniably beautiful, but the disgust on her face was off-putting.

"Do you think you get to decide?" Warren bellowed.

Sasha was near tears. "I won't marry him! You said he spent the last three years working as a doctor in a small clinic in some village. How could he be good enough for me?

"So what if he gave us millions of dollars before? The money would be long gone by now if he had kept it. Anyway, can't we just repay him the money?"

When Warren stood up, Nattie quickly intervened, holding him back as she placed a plate of food on the table. "Warren, calm down. This is all so sudden. Sasha needs time to process it. We should let them get to know each other first."

Felix spoke up as well, "Uncle Warren, Aunt Nattie is right. Marriage is a lifelong commitment, and our feelings for each other should be mutual."

He knew Warren well—he was straightforward and valued loyalty. He rarely went back on his word. So, this way, they could ease the tension and find a reason later to call the marriage off.

Nattie gave Sasha a look, and the latter relaxed a bit. "Dad, I'm sorry. It was just too sudden."

As expected, Warren visibly calmed down. "Alright. You have three months. Then, you two will marry."

Food was served, and Nattie smiled warmly. "Make yourself at home, Felix. You're like family."

Sasha sneered. "Mom, he came empty-handed."

Felix ignored the two of them. He had only come to see Warren after all. He had known for years that Nattie and Sasha were extremely opportunistic.

"Uncle Warren, here's to you." Felix raised his glass, cutting off Warren's impending outburst.

"Felix, tell me. What have you been up to? Three years ago, you said you were going to work at a clinic in a village, then changed your number. Do you know how worried I was?

"Matt is gone, but I treat you like a son. Just let me know if you have any difficulties."

Despite Warren's company growing bigger over the past three years, he remained humble, which was Felix's only solace.

"Warren, you're overthinking it. Felix is capable and doesn't need our help," Nattie interjected, her tone implying that she didn't want Felix to freeload off them.

If he were to insist, they would repay the million dollars he had given them, without interest, of course.

"Exactly, Dad. Felix is outstanding. He doesn't need us," Sasha added.

Felix was about to say something when the housekeeper, Brenda Criss, entered. "Mr. Quinton, there's a Rolls-Royce Phantom parked outside. They say they're waiting for Mr. Zeller."

A Rolls-Royce Phantom was a rare sight in Avesburgh.

Felix replied, "They're here to pick me up."

The Quintons turned to Felix, each with different emotions. Warren felt an inexplicable excitement, whereas Nattie's and Sasha's faces were full of contempt."Felix, you've really learned a thing or two in the past three years," Nattie remarked, her tone dripping with sarcasm despite the seemingly complimentary words."A Rolls-Royce? Felix, you're amazing. I bet a helicopter will come pick you up the next time," Sasha chimed in with blatant mockery."Uncle Warren, I'll visit you again," Felix said, ignoring their words. He had more pressing matters, as the person with the Miracle Card required immediate aid.As Warren saw Felix out, Nattie and Sasha reluctantly followed. Their expressions shifted slightly upon seeing the Rolls-Royce Phantom parked at the gate, but they remained unimpressed."Are you Mr. Felix Zeller?" asked a man in a tailored suit and white gloves. He was Marco Jensen, the Kinsley family's chauffeur.Upon Felix's confirmation, Marco opened the car door for him a

"Go after him!"Then, he helped Xander to his feet and asked, "What's the Pierce of Trinity?""It's one of the most miraculous acupuncture techniques in traditional medicine," Xander explained instinctively. "The Pierce of Trinity can cure most ailments. Though it has been passed down, very few can perform it. I've practiced for five years and still haven't mastered it."Reflecting on Bernard's condition and the placement of the three needles, Xander h

Felix turned and saw Sasha.Just his luck.He didn't want to argue with her, but he decided to say, "Sasha, you don't have to worry about what your father said. There's no future between us. I'll break the news to him in a month."Sasha chuckled. "At least you're self-aware. That saves me the trouble. You'd better stick to your words, or you'll regret it when I do it my way."Ruth chimed in, "You might not know how popular Sasha is now. She has more admirers than she can count, and many of them are from wealthy families. You're no match."Then, she glanced at the tail lights of the disappearing Rolls-Royce Phantom. "Renting a fancy car might change your appearance, but it won't change who you are inside."Felix nodded, relieved Sasha wasn't pursuing him. He never liked her, not three years ago, and certainly not now. Her family's company's success had only made her more arrogant and superficial. As Felix headed into Luxe Dining, Sasha scowled, and her disdain became evident. "Ar

Jamie was stunned, as were others in the lobby who heard the words "Supreme Black Card".Sasha, too, gaped at Felix in disbelief. The Supreme Black Card was a rare status symbol. Only about 30 people in the world possessed it, each with wealth beyond imagination. So, how could Felix possibly be a holder of the Supreme Black Card? That was just absurd!Swallowing hard, Jamie stammered. He knew that even the cardholders of the next tier down, the Diamond Card, would be greeted by the bank manager at the door.Handling a Supreme Black Card was a first for him, and Jamie was beyond nervous."P-Please verify your identity."Though the standard procedure was to immediately escort Supreme Black Card holders to the VIP room and notify the bank manager, Jamie was overwhelmed by the situation and couldn't think straight."Alright," Felix agreed, placing his right hand on the machine.Sasha's mind was racing as she watched. Wendy finally understood what Xander was referring to at that time. The big shot he had said needed help for her grandfather was none other than the war goddess, Xena Summers."Lady Summers, please don't misunderstand. I have no intention of keeping any help from you. However, I genuinely dare not proceed without permission from the master healer. I'm sure you know from Dr. Fielding what his temper is like."No interaction under this sky wasn't driven by interests. Xena didn't expect Wendy to explain herself so readily without excessive prodding."Just say the word, and I'll be at the Kinsley family's disposal from here on out."Wendy was shocked to the core. Such a promise was priceless beyond words. Standing before her was the first goddess of war in Dragonia who possessed supreme power. With her on their side, her family would definitely soar to great heights.Yet, as soon as she thought of Felix, a pang of guilt surged within her again."I'm so sorry, Lady Summers. This is not a m

Just then, Felix's phone rang. When Sasha and the others saw the caller ID, their fury was immediately extinguished.A phone call from Wendy Kinsley?Everyone knew of Wendy. She was the daughter of the richest man here, the drop-dead gorgeous CEO of Avesburgh, and the dream woman of countless men.Just this guy? Did he really have access to Wendy's mobile? That was beyond belief. At this point, Felix had already stepped aside to answer the call."Are you here?""In a few minutes, F-Felix. Since you're there, I've made a reservation at Zenith Pavilion. We can talk there. It's quite quiet. There's no need to change locations."Although she had Felix's permission to address him by his given name, Wendy still felt distinctly uncomfortable."Okay. I'll head over now."When he hung up, Sasha was about to burst into flames."Felix Zeller! Are you not done yet? First, you show off with an edited image. Hugo's brows knitted together as his deep gaze landed on Ruth."Are you saying Felix—the guy freeloading at Sasha's—has Wendy's phone number?"Ruth shrank back in fear, while Sasha stepped in to smooth things over."Hugo, I'm afraid you've misunderstood. That guy just loves to show off. If you let me explain, I'm sure we can clear things up for you."After learning about Felix's actions at Concord Bank and his presence here, Hugo let out a disdainful sneer."That's more like it. If someone like that had access to Wendy's contact, even pigs could fly!"Ivan quickly chimed in, "You're right. It was just too much of a coincidence! We almost let that bastard fool us again."Hugo patted him on the shoulder. "How dare that piece of garbage that even Sasha despises pretend to have Wendy's number? Don't you guys agree that he needs a lesson?"Ivan caught his message without fail. He had long been thinking about teaching Felix a lesson for harboring thoughts about his woman. Now that he

Ginny was naturally present as well, and she spoke up at that moment. "Mr. Goldstein, no one wanted to see Justus die like that. But why did you bring your people to Longstone residence? Are you suggesting that his sudden death has something to do with us?"Joaquin's expression grew darker as he looked at her. He blamed Ginny for this, thinking that none of this would have happened if she had just agreed earlier. And now, they couldn't even determine the cause of death."No connection? That doctor from your household, Felix Zeller—he's the one responsible for Justus' death."Right then, someone spoke up from the crowd. "That's him! That's Felix Zeller!"Felix, who had been calmly sitting in a chair, finally saw Wagner standing among them. And in that moment, everything made sense."Wagner? You've gotten quite bold, huh?" Gras sneered.Wagner flinched at Gras's words, but remembering that he now had the Goldsteins backing him, he stiffened his spine and stood tall. "Cut the crap

In Cloud City, there were a few noble families. Nonetheless, behind the polite smiles, tensions surged. Infiltrating each other's estates with spies had practically become a tradition. While they rarely uncovered major secrets, the information they did gather always gave them a head start. So when the news broke, Gras didn't doubt it for a second. He jumped to his feet, furious. "This is outrageous! Their son dies, and somehow it's the Longstone family's fault?"Ryker looked just as puzzled, agreeing that the accusation made no sense. But Felix let out a quiet, weary sigh. "Mr. Longstone, I'm afraid this is probably my fault. I'm a doctor, and I've gotten a bit of attention lately. After they failed to determine the cause of Justus' death, and given our meeting earlier today, they likely saw an opportunity to drag your family into the mess." Gras's expression darkened, knowing that Felix wasn't wrong. After all, doctors could also be poisoners, and plenty of martial artists had fa

It was clear someone had said something to Justus. Otherwise, this situation wouldn't have escalated to this point.Felix said calmly, "It was a standard therapeutic massage technique, and I was blindfolded the entire time. Does that explanation satisfy you? Or would you rather find someone else capable of treating Ms. Longstone—I'll gladly step aside if you can."Justus sneered, his eyes filled with disdain. "Cut the crap, Felix. Don't act like I don't know exactly what's going through your head. Ginny's the heiress of the Longstone residence—Gras's precious jewel. Everyone knows that marrying her is like securing the entire household. Don't tell me that thought never crossed your mind.""It didn't," Felix said simply.Unfortunately, that answer was never going to satisfy Justus. He snarled, "Listen up, boy! As Wagner watched Justus explode in rage, he felt an overwhelming sense of satisfaction. With what he'd just uncovered, there was no need to exaggerate—it was already explosive enough on its own. After all, Justus' future fiancée was touched in that kind of intimate way by a young, healthy doctor. Any man with a spine would lose it."But Justus," Wagner added with a smirk. "Didn't Felix just get publicly praised by the Green King?"Cloud City wasn't that big. Anyone with any influence had been keeping close tabs on Green King Manor—especially with the mystery man who walked out of Desolated Lands involved. So, the news of Felix being rewarded had already spread far and wide.Justus clenched his jaw. "So what? It's just a flash in the pan. If he was truly skilled, the Green King would've kept him. But as long as he hasn't climbed into the Green King's inner circle, I can crush him whenever I want."Wagner's grin widened. That was exactly the attitude he needed. If Justus had shown

The moment the Flame Monarch mentioned the Healer Sage, the Green King's expression shifted noticeably. "So the Sage really was living out there in seclusion... No wonder. Flame Monarch, does this mean you've taken a liking to Felix?"But the Flame Monarch waved his hand dismissively. "There's no need for that."That response made the Green King secretly rejoice. If the Flame Monarch didn't intend to recruit Felix, then he understood why—and that was perfect. It meant the opportunity to take Felix under his own wing was wide open. The night passed quietly. Felix stood beside Christopher's bedside, noticing the man's breathing had grown steady and stable. At this point, the herb had run its course and was no longer effective. But what was left inside Christopher's soul—a strange, lingering force—was exactly what Felix had hoped for.Christopher was alive but completely unconscious. The remaining energy had no regenerative properties, which meant he'd likely never wake again. For Fe

Felix wasn't the least bit surprised by the Flame Monarch's reaction, but he still feigned confusion. "Flame Monarch, I'm sorry... but I don't understand. What do you mean by soul-related injuries?"Just from that single line, Felix confirmed what he suspected—Aquamarinus had no concept of soul-based matters. Whether it was training methods or anything else, this realm hadn't yet touched that domain. The Flame Monarch stared at him, pressure radiating from his body. Felix immediately felt his limbs start to tremble under the invisible weight."You don't know? Then how could you claim to treat that man's condition?" Felix calmly pointed toward the herbs laid out on the table. "The force inside him is definitely strange. It triggered a memory... I once sensed something very similar, and it came from within that herb. It was purely instinct—when something feels familiar, there's a chance it might work."The Flame Monarch shifted his gaze to the herb, then said flatly, "Start from th

Felix gave him a direct and honest answer. "As long as I have enough herbs. I can treat him. I won't promise a full recovery, but one thing I can guarantee you is that this man won't die."For now, that was the best possible answer anyone could offer. The Flame Monarch replied, "Good. Begin. As long as you can keep him alive, you'll be handsomely rewarded."It seemed the Flame Monarch already knew something and never truly expected anyone to completely cure Christopher. Preserving his life alone would already be a feat."Flame Monarch, please reconsider!" one of the elderly doctors suddenly cut in, seething with resentment. "This boy is barely grown—how could he possibly possess such remarkable skill in medicine?"The Flame Monarch turned and gave him a cold, mocking glance. "If he can't do it, then can you?"The old man went silent. Perhaps fearing the loss of favor or acting out of sheer pride, he hesitated. Eventually, he found the courage to speak again."I admit I can't, bu

The Green King's expression changed instantly, and he turned to Felix in a hurry. "Dr. Zeller, please come with me to greet him.""Of course," Felix replied. For anyone in Aquamarinus, getting the chance to see the Flame Monarch up close was like a once-in-a-lifetime dream, and people would probably die happy just for that. Naturally, Felix put on a show of reverence as well, even if he didn't feel it deep down.As they reached the front gate, Felix saw several figures striding toward them with heavy steps. At the front of the group was a towering man, nearly nine feet tall. Even someone as built as Dave looked like a delicate bystander next to him. What stood out the most was his bright crimson hair, which flared upward like flames, making it look like his head was on fire. His facial features were fairly average, but the power behind his gaze radiated pure, undeniable authority. So, this was the Flame Monarch?Felix studied him closely. According to the rules set by the Flame Monarch, the position of Minor Kings rotated every five years. Those who made outstanding contributions could keep their titles, but anyone who fell short would have to fight for their place all over again. The Green King knew he wasn't particularly strong—he was painfully aware of that. And with the next year marking the fifth year, the pressure was mounting fast. So when Christopher appeared, it felt like fate. If he could heal this man before the Flame Monarch arrived with his elite doctors, the credit would be immense, and his reappointment would be virtually guaranteed. Anyone who had never held a Minor King title wouldn't understand just how many perks came with it. If they did, no one would give it up willingly."I can treat him," Felix said calmly. "But I can't promise a full recovery."The Green King smiled. "Do your best. Even if you can only keep him alive, that alone is worth it."Two doctors before had said that Christopher's b
