Chapter 198

Author: Dreamy Fire
By the time Jack returned to the private room, Madeline was gone. "What happened?" he asked.

After Felix explained the situation to him, Jack sighed deeply. "Family can really mess you up, huh? I got kicked out, but at least I'm not drowning in debt. Damn."

It was midnight when they got back to Tabiner Bay. Instead of going home, Felix went to Yvonne's villa. He had received a call earlier.

"Yvonne, what's up? It's pretty late," he said after he greeted her.

Yvonne glanced at Felix. She then got up and said, "Have a seat. I'll be right back."

She came downstairs a moment later, and Felix froze in his tracks. Yvonne was not even wearing pajamas. She was in purple lingerie that would make any man lose his mind. Her face was slightly flushed, and her eyes kept darting away, which made her even more alluring.

"After last time, I… I've been thinking about it every night. Would you be willing to sleep with me again? I'm not looking for a commitment or to disrupt your life."

The next morning, Felix got a call from Kane. "Mr. Zeller, we've figured out how the chief died. It was because his martial arts technique went wrong, not foul play." Since it was not murder, Felix relaxed a bit. He could now focus on Curtis' situation. "What about you?" Felix asked. Kane replied, "I've been promoted to Chief of Oasis Clinic, so I can't come back to Avesburgh. Mr. Zeller, the person I found for you should be there in two days max. Her name's Vivian. She's somewhat of a niece to me. "She's been with Dragon Alliance for almost four years and is a martial arts prodigy. She's already Deputy Chief of the Earthen Hall." The Earthen Hall? Felix was surprised. It was one of the top divisions in Dragon Alliance, as the people there handled all assassination missions. Getting in there required serious skill. For Vivian to have become a deputy chief in just a few years was indeed impressive. "Alright, tell her to contact me when she arrives," Felix said."Oh, and Mr.

"Mr. Zeller, I can't thank you enough. Our family's fate wouldn't have changed without your help," Wendy said. Felix smiled and said, "That's just how fate works. You earned this. Why thank me? You helped me plenty with those herbs, too." Wendy seemed to have gathered her courage and finally said, "Mr. Zeller, do I… do I have any chance of being with you? Given your talent, I know I don't deserve to be with you! But even if I could just be your mistress, I'd be willing to be one." Wendy was the heiress of Avesburgh's wealthiest family. Anyone who heard her speak so humbly in front of a man would have been shocked. Felix shook his head. "You deserve better. You've only seen one side of me, you hear me?" Though she had expected this, Wendy could not help feeling disappointed. "I understand. Mr. Zeller, I'll come back to visit when I can. I won't ask for much. Just answering my calls and having a meal with me would be enough." "We're friends. Isn't that what friends do?" As

A middle-aged man appeared as he said those words. His presence was intense, which made Olly's brow furrow slightly. Just by the aura, this newcomer seemed to match Olly in power. As for who was actually stronger, it would only be clear after a fight. But right now, Felix was the main issue."Did you witness my disciple's death?" Olly asked. The middle-aged man's lips curled into a smirk. "Not personally, but our guys saw it. Your disciple was killed in an instant. You really think you can take this guy down solo?" Felix turned to face the man. His eyes flashed coldly. "Inferno Clan, I gave you a chance. You've got balls sending someone else. Get ready to be wiped off the map then." He had enough on his plate and did not want to waste time on this. Plus, these assassin groups were a pain to track down. But with Dragon Alliance in his pocket now, it would not be impossible If he really wanted to find them. "Inferno Clan?" Olly's expression changed, and he chuckled and said, "Fel

Olly and the man from Inferno Clan were still standing, but their eyes were wide with disbelief. A moment later, blood trickled from their mouths. "You… you…" Olly sputtered, unable to get out another word before he and the middle-aged man collapsed. Felix shook his head with a wry smile. "Rosalie, I could've handled this myself." The woman who had appeared was Rosalie Evan, his senior. Even Xena could not match her beauty. Rosalie rushed to Felix's side before touching his face and legs. He dodged away. "Oh, Felix, let me check if you're hurt." Felix was terrified. He had experienced Rosalie's boldness all too well during his three years in Eden Village. One wrong move, and she would eat him alive, leaving nothing but bones. Rosalie pouted and glanced at Xena. "This woman is useless. If someone dared touch my man, I wouldn't waste time talking. I'd have already taken them out. Yet she's still playing by the rules. Should I just off her so you and I can ride off into the su

After they arrived at the hotel room, Felix asked again, "Rosalie, can you tell me now?" No matter how playful his seniors were, they never lied. So he definitely had another fiancée, but he could not remember a thing about her. "What's the rush? I'm tired from traveling. I need a shower. Wait here!" Rosalie said.Felix sighed. Now that he was here, he knew he was at her mercy. Around 15 minutes later, a voice came from the bathroom. "Felix, come in and help me with my back." Felix hesitated. For the sake of learning about this mysterious fiancée, he went in. Damn. He almost turned right back around. Rosalie was lounging in the bathtub with her smooth shoulders on full display. "What are you standing there for? Come here." She turned, presenting her back to Felix. "Rosalie, do we have to do this? I'm a guy too, you know." Rosalie smirked. "I know that. I'm not asking you to do anything weird. Just hold it together, okay? Remember, you've got a fiancée. If you get any f

Just seeing Rosalie had made Felix happy. Since his parents passed, his seniors and Gerald had become his family. How could he not be thrilled? His phone rang. Seeing it was Madeline, Felix felt relieved. He did not want to rekindle their romance—it had to do with her working at the club. He just wanted his first love to enjoy life again, that was all. "Madeline." "Felix, I've made up my mind. I want a chance to find my own life again. So… please help me." Over the afternoon, Felix paid off the loans Madeline's dad had taken out on her phone. He then hit up several banks and paid off over six million dollars in total. It would have taken Madeline forever to pay off such a massive sum on her own. "How many lenders from the underworld forces do you still owe money to?" Madeline replied, "Just one more to go." It made sense. These guys were on her back every day, so of course, she would pay them off first. When they neared a pawn shop, Felix motioned for Madeline to stop. "

Felix had met Stinger several times and thought he was decent. He was Kane's right-hand man, after all. But he was already facing rebellion right after taking over. "If it were Kane, I'd be on my knees apologizing and wiping the debt. It's a shame you only know Stinger." Just as Hunter finished, a car pulled up, and Stinger stepped out. "Stinger! What an honor! What brings you to our shop?" In a heartbeat, Hunter's tune changed. He was now all smiles and bows. "Mr. Zeller." Ignoring Hunter, Stinger went straight to Felix and bowed. Hunter's eyes widened. It seemed this young guy was a bigger fish than he thought. "Give me your account number. I'll transfer now." Felix kept it short. Proving his earlier bravado, Hunter coughed up his account details. When the text alert pinged, Hunter checked and frowned. "500 thousand dollars? What's the deal?" Felix pocketed his phone. "I told you the price changes when Stinger shows up. Now, you only deserve 500 thousand for the principal

At the same time, a helicopter descended over the Great Imperial Sect. Xena stepped out, accompanied by two subordinates carrying a corpse covered with a white cloth.Every seat was filled except one in the Great Imperial Sect's council hall. The five remaining elders, the sect leader, and the deputy leader were all present."Ms. Cunningham."Xena greeted Jaxon with a deep bow. The sect leader of the Great Imperial Sect, Jaxon Cunningham, sat in front of everyone with a solemn expression."It's been years, and yet you came back only to deliver a corpse. As your mentor, I can't help but feel ashamed."Anyone else could hear the dissatisfaction and anger in his tone, not to mention Xena."Mr. Cunningham, Olly was killed by a mysterious woman. I'm doing everything I can to track her down," Xena explained.Just as she finished speaking, an elder interjected."Xena, we old folks may be on the verge of death or hidden away in the mountains, but we're not ignorant. The reason Edmond dared to question Felix at all was that he was holding onto that one sliver of arrogance—he assumed Felix had only cured Christopher by pure luck, just because it happened to fall under his area of expertise.Otherwise, would he have even dared speak up? Not a chance.Once the silk threads were tied and tension filled the air, Felix spoke calmly after only a short pause. "Her Grace has a mild seasonal chill. It's nothing serious. I'll prescribe her some herbal blends—she'll recover within five days. Or, if she prefers a quicker route, acupuncture will do the trick."The Green King blinked, clearly stunned by the response. "You mean you can heal her without medication?""That's right. No medicine necessary." At the same time, a soft, melodic voice floated from behind the curtain. Sydney Haye said, "My love, that sounds perfect. You know I hate taking medicine. Please, Dr. Zeller, come in and begin the treatment."...15 minutes later, Felix stepped back out in

Joaquin was on the edge of madness. He wanted nothing more than to kill Felix right there, but he didn't dare risk the entire Goldstein family just to satisfy that rage. Disobeying a royal summons meant immediate execution—there was no bluffing around it.After taking a deep breath, Joaquin forced himself to put on a smile. "Dr. Zeller, then tell me—what exactly do you need in order to head to the Green King Manor?"Felix had seen this kind of groveling far too many times before. "Gras is right outside your estate. Go talk to him. The sooner you two reach an agreement, the sooner I'll leave for the manor.""What? Gras is here?" Only now did Joaquin realize just how thoroughly he had been played. Everything had been a setup from the beginning, and he had walked straight into the trap.Time ticked by, and eventually, Gras strolled into the courtyard. He said, "Dr. Zeller, the talk went well. How's the view treating you so far?" From the smile on Gras's face, it was clear he hadn't

Not far away, Wagner silently prayed with all his might. "Come on, Felix, don't back down now. Keep acting like a hothead—because only then will you die."As for any retaliation from the Longstone family, he wasn't the least bit concerned. Things had already gone too far, and Joaquin clearly wasn't about to back down. He would definitely find a reason to escalate the fight, and if that weren't the case, Wagner wouldn't have dared tag along tonight.Maybe his prayer actually worked, because Felix shook his head. "Sorry, I came here just to cooperate with your investigation. Anything beyond that… I won't do."Just as Wagner thought Felix had sealed his fate, someone suddenly rushed in, holding something in his hand. "Mr. Goldstein! We've got trouble—Green King Manor just sent a royal summons!""What?" Joaquin's expression twisted as he snatched the letter. A summons from one of the nine Minor Kings was no small matter—when it was issued, compliance was mandatory. Ignoring it meant

In the past, no one dared provoke a family war so openly as it would've been a blatant slap in the Green King's face. But this time, the Goldsteins had the upper hand. After all, Justus was dead, and the Longstone family was a prime suspect. Hence, even if blood were shed, it could still be justified.Joaquin knew this well. He also understood that Gras would never give up Felix for the sake of the Longstones' reputation, so even forcing the standoff served his purpose.Just as the tension reached its peak and a battle was about to break out, Felix stepped forward on his own. "You're the head of the Goldsteins, right? I'll go with you."Joaquin narrowed his eyes. He hadn't expected Felix to boldly step forward."Dr. Zeller, please step back," Gras said.Felix glanced at Gras and said, "Thank you for everything, sir. But the truth will speak for itself. Once the investigation is done, I'm sure they'll let me return."Gras stayed silent, but Joaquin chuckled coldly. "Return? Do you

Ginny was naturally present as well, and she spoke up at that moment. "Mr. Goldstein, no one wanted to see Justus die like that. But why did you bring your people to Longstone residence? Are you suggesting that his sudden death has something to do with us?"Joaquin's expression grew darker as he looked at her. He blamed Ginny for this, thinking that none of this would have happened if she had just agreed earlier. And now, they couldn't even determine the cause of death."No connection? That doctor from your household, Felix Zeller—he's the one responsible for Justus' death."Right then, someone spoke up from the crowd. "That's him! That's Felix Zeller!"Felix, who had been calmly sitting in a chair, finally saw Wagner standing among them. And in that moment, everything made sense."Wagner? You've gotten quite bold, huh?" Gras sneered.Wagner flinched at Gras's words, but remembering that he now had the Goldsteins backing him, he stiffened his spine and stood tall. "Cut the crap

In Cloud City, there were a few noble families. Nonetheless, behind the polite smiles, tensions surged. Infiltrating each other's estates with spies had practically become a tradition. While they rarely uncovered major secrets, the information they did gather always gave them a head start. So when the news broke, Gras didn't doubt it for a second. He jumped to his feet, furious. "This is outrageous! Their son dies, and somehow it's the Longstone family's fault?"Ryker looked just as puzzled, agreeing that the accusation made no sense. But Felix let out a quiet, weary sigh. "Mr. Longstone, I'm afraid this is probably my fault. I'm a doctor, and I've gotten a bit of attention lately. After they failed to determine the cause of Justus' death, and given our meeting earlier today, they likely saw an opportunity to drag your family into the mess." Gras's expression darkened, knowing that Felix wasn't wrong. After all, doctors could also be poisoners, and plenty of martial artists had fa

It was clear someone had said something to Justus. Otherwise, this situation wouldn't have escalated to this point.Felix said calmly, "It was a standard therapeutic massage technique, and I was blindfolded the entire time. Does that explanation satisfy you? Or would you rather find someone else capable of treating Ms. Longstone—I'll gladly step aside if you can."Justus sneered, his eyes filled with disdain. "Cut the crap, Felix. Don't act like I don't know exactly what's going through your head. Ginny's the heiress of the Longstone residence—Gras's precious jewel. Everyone knows that marrying her is like securing the entire household. Don't tell me that thought never crossed your mind.""It didn't," Felix said simply.Unfortunately, that answer was never going to satisfy Justus. He snarled, "Listen up, boy! I'm giving you three days to get the hell out of the Longstone residence. If you don't, you won't even get the chance to regret it. Everyone else might be afraid of Gras—but I

As Wagner watched Justus explode in rage, he felt an overwhelming sense of satisfaction. With what he'd just uncovered, there was no need to exaggerate—it was already explosive enough on its own. After all, Justus' future fiancée was touched in that kind of intimate way by a young, healthy doctor. Any man with a spine would lose it."But Justus," Wagner added with a smirk. "Didn't Felix just get publicly praised by the Green King?"Cloud City wasn't that big. Anyone with any influence had been keeping close tabs on Green King Manor—especially with the mystery man who walked out of Desolated Lands involved. So, the news of Felix being rewarded had already spread far and wide.Justus clenched his jaw. "So what? It's just a flash in the pan. If he was truly skilled, the Green King would've kept him. But as long as he hasn't climbed into the Green King's inner circle, I can crush him whenever I want."Wagner's grin widened. That was exactly the attitude he needed. If Justus had shown

The moment the Flame Monarch mentioned the Healer Sage, the Green King's expression shifted noticeably. "So the Sage really was living out there in seclusion... No wonder. Flame Monarch, does this mean you've taken a liking to Felix?"But the Flame Monarch waved his hand dismissively. "There's no need for that."That response made the Green King secretly rejoice. If the Flame Monarch didn't intend to recruit Felix, then he understood why—and that was perfect. It meant the opportunity to take Felix under his own wing was wide open. The night passed quietly. Felix stood beside Christopher's bedside, noticing the man's breathing had grown steady and stable. At this point, the herb had run its course and was no longer effective. But what was left inside Christopher's soul—a strange, lingering force—was exactly what Felix had hoped for.Christopher was alive but completely unconscious. The remaining energy had no regenerative properties, which meant he'd likely never wake again. For Fe
