Chapter 123

Author: Dreamy Fire
They were Kane's men? Felix slapped the burly man, sending him straight to the ground.

"The rest of you, clean this place up quietly. Otherwise, don't expect to leave here unharmed."

There was no way they were actually Kane's men—his men would have recognized Felix. If they were indeed Kane's men, they would be fools.

Felix's smack didn't seem all that frightening, but how he broke the bat was so intimidating that the remaining men quickly started cleaning up the place.

A few moments later, they stood in the garden, none daring to meet Felix's gaze.

"Who sent you?"

At that moment, a car abruptly pulled up at the gate, and a few armed men got out.

"There's been a report of an assault here. Everyone, stay where you are, and don't move!"

As if their saviors had arrived, the thugs all pointed at Felix.

"It was him!"

"That's right! He attacked us for no reason. We don't even know if our friend is dead or alive."

The guns were quickly pointed at Felix. The leader then made a hand

"I'll send you the relevant information right now." Joshua hung up the phone before stretching lazily."Handling one measly martial artist is too easy."Joshua believed that Xena's fiancé was just some loser, so it was only natural for Xena not to care about him.To Joshua, this issue could already be considered resolved. Even if they decided it was excessive self-defense, Felix would still get a few years in prison. At the Phoenix Legion base, Belle entered the interrogation room where Felix was being held with a tablet in hand."Felix, do you know why you were brought here?"Felix stared at Belle expressionlessly. "If I find out that you're involved in this, not even Xena can save you."Belle immediately grew anxious at his words."Are you really threatening me right now, Felix? Can't you see where we are? Do you really think you can leave here unscathed just because of your meager connections with Ms. Summers?"With that, she placed the tablet on the table."The person you

The anxious and hesitant Belle couldn't help but take the risk and ask, "Milady, w-why has Mr. Holt Senior suddenly come to the Phoenix Legion base?""He's here to see Colonel Bradley Sutton. It turns out that Bradley's grandfather was Mr. Holt Senior's comrade-in-arms. I just found out about this as well."Belle instantly felt a great sense of relief, like the weight on her shoulders had suddenly been lifted. She had been terrified moments ago, thinking Ernest came specifically because of Felix, which would have caused a major problem. Not long after, a car slowly pulled up, and Ernest stepped out with his bodyguard, Jairo Acosta. Not only did Xena and Belle rush forward to greet Ernest, but a sharp-eyed middle-aged man also approached. That man was none other than Bradley Sutton, a highly influential figure and a colonel in the Phoenix Legion."Mr. Holt Senior!"Seeing Bradley's salute, Ernest said with a smile, "I'm retired now. No need for salutes."Bradley's eyes were fil

Xena began, "Mr. Holt Senior, I can assure you that the Phoenix Legion would never…"Ernest shot Xena a sharp glance before she could finish her sentence."Xena, you're still young. There are some things you shouldn't speak about so definitively. There is a difference between not knowing something and not revealing something."Just as Xena was about to make another firm statement, Belle piped up, "I'm sorry, Mr. Holt Senior. S-something like that did happen. I just found out about it as well."Xena abruptly turned to Belle, looking as if she wanted to devour the latter."Do you know what you're saying?"Belle, filled with fear, replied, "Y-yes, it's true. And the person who was taken is Felix Zeller."Right then, Ernest patted Bradley on the shoulder."Let's head to your office, Brad. I'll be leaving right after. I'm not as energetic as I used to be now that I'm older."After they left, Xena had a grim look on her face."Speak! Tell me everything, down to the last detail!"I

Belle was instantly displeased by what Felix said."Felix Zeller! Don't push your luck. To err is human. Besides, Lady Summers came personally because of the mistakes of her subordinates. What more do you want?"Seeing how Belle, who had someone else take the fall, was still so arrogant, Felix couldn't help but laugh out of sheer anger."Shut it!" Xena reprimanded before turning to Felix."I do owe you an apology for this. I take full responsibility for not providing proper leadership. Those involved will be handled per the law as well. Now, tell me—what is your condition?"Ernest was still at the base. Was Felix going to ask for him to come and remove the handcuffs himself? If that happened, Xena's future would be completely tarnished. This matter could either worsen into a big deal or become something trivial, but releasing Felix was the best thing to do for now."It's easy. In the future, when I go to visit Mr. Summers Senior, you must not stop me."Was that it? Xena had eve

After Joshua gave it some thought, he continued, "Then I will play along. On the day of the announcement, I'll put Felix on the spot and humiliate him in front of Xena. "Then, I'll get serious and deal with him so that both his spirit and body suffer a serious blow."His subordinate frowned before asking, "Sir, wouldn't this upset Lord Kane?"Joshua sneered."So what? My uncle has said that anyone who dares to obstruct me on the path of pursuing Xena will be dealt with. Lord Kane is just the deputy chief of Oasis Clinic."Even their chief has to show some respect in front of my uncle. Why should I fear him? Since he has chosen to stand against me, it's only natural that I don't have to play nice."After a short pause, he ordered, "Notify everyone that Stellar Group's banquet for the city within a city project has been moved up to the night after tomorrow."That night, in a booth at a bar in Avesburgh, Jack waved at Felix when the former saw him enter."The car has been washed,

Upon witnessing such a scene, the people in the bar fled in fright."What is the meaning of this?"Jack frowned. He didn't understand why their table was the only one that wasn't allowed to leave. Trina moved closer to him, clearly terrified."They're probably here for me. You guys should leave first."Felix stood up and walked toward the man in black as he spoke. "They have nothing to do with this. I'll stay."The man in black sneered, but he didn't try to give them a hard time. His men immediately cleared a path for them."What the hell are you saying? How can I leave at a time like this? Trina, you should go."Jack, following behind Felix, cursed before shoving Trina toward the exit. They had been close friends for years. He could not leave Felix alone in such an obviously terrible situation."Jack, I can handle this. Trust me, okay? Besides, Trina's here; her safety should be your top priority."Ignoring the look Felix was giving him, Jack forcefully pushed Trina away wit

Jack was dumbfounded. He had been in fights before, and from the aura and speed of the middle-aged man, it was clear to Jack that the man was formidable. Yet, he was easily dealt with by Felix."I underestimated you." Frowning, Dora waved her right hand, sending the other two martial artists charging forward.Alas, the outcome didn't change as both of them collapsed after being hit by Felix. At this point, Dora was utterly shocked."Interesting. I didn't think that I would meet a martial artist like you over fondue."Even though her three pillars of strength were unconscious, Dora remained completely unflustered, which piqued Felix's curiosity."Can this matter be over now?"After all, this was a mess Sasha had created, and Felix didn't want to waste more time on it.Dora didn't answer his question. She merely gave him a long look before turning to leave. Now that the bar was finally empty, Jack piped up, "Dang! Felix, you're that strong?" Tilting his head, Felix answered,

"I didn't know about the restaurant before that night," Felix answered truthfully. He was curious if there was really more to this than met the eye."Heh! Now this is getting interesting. Everyone who knows me is aware that I go to that fondue restaurant at the same time every week. If someone wanted us to clash, that would have been the perfect time."Dora was above doing things this way, but Felix's unexpected strength, along with her calmness now, made her rethink things carefully.Felix also began to consider the situation. After hearing what Dora said and recalling Sasha's reaction at the time, he did think it was a bit suspicious. At that moment, the door opened, and an old man entered after entering the residence's passcode."If you can beat him or even end the match with a draw, then we'll call it even."After speaking, Dora backed away a bit. This action showed just how extraordinary the old man's strength must be, as she was clearly afraid of getting caught up in the fi

Ginny was naturally present as well, and she spoke up at that moment. "Mr. Goldstein, no one wanted to see Justus die like that. But why did you bring your people to Longstone residence? Are you suggesting that his sudden death has something to do with us?"Joaquin's expression grew darker as he looked at her. He blamed Ginny for this, thinking that none of this would have happened if she had just agreed earlier. And now, they couldn't even determine the cause of death."No connection? That doctor from your household, Felix Zeller—he's the one responsible for Justus' death."Right then, someone spoke up from the crowd. "That's him! That's Felix Zeller!"Felix, who had been calmly sitting in a chair, finally saw Wagner standing among them. And in that moment, everything made sense."Wagner? You've gotten quite bold, huh?" Gras sneered.Wagner flinched at Gras's words, but remembering that he now had the Goldsteins backing him, he stiffened his spine and stood tall. "Cut the crap

In Cloud City, there were a few noble families. Nonetheless, behind the polite smiles, tensions surged. Infiltrating each other's estates with spies had practically become a tradition. While they rarely uncovered major secrets, the information they did gather always gave them a head start. So when the news broke, Gras didn't doubt it for a second. He jumped to his feet, furious. "This is outrageous! Their son dies, and somehow it's the Longstone family's fault?"Ryker looked just as puzzled, agreeing that the accusation made no sense. But Felix let out a quiet, weary sigh. "Mr. Longstone, I'm afraid this is probably my fault. I'm a doctor, and I've gotten a bit of attention lately. After they failed to determine the cause of Justus' death, and given our meeting earlier today, they likely saw an opportunity to drag your family into the mess." Gras's expression darkened, knowing that Felix wasn't wrong. After all, doctors could also be poisoners, and plenty of martial artists had fa

It was clear someone had said something to Justus. Otherwise, this situation wouldn't have escalated to this point.Felix said calmly, "It was a standard therapeutic massage technique, and I was blindfolded the entire time. Does that explanation satisfy you? Or would you rather find someone else capable of treating Ms. Longstone—I'll gladly step aside if you can."Justus sneered, his eyes filled with disdain. "Cut the crap, Felix. Don't act like I don't know exactly what's going through your head. Ginny's the heiress of the Longstone residence—Gras's precious jewel. Everyone knows that marrying her is like securing the entire household. Don't tell me that thought never crossed your mind.""It didn't," Felix said simply.Unfortunately, that answer was never going to satisfy Justus. He snarled, "Listen up, boy! I'm giving you three days to get the hell out of the Longstone residence. If you don't, you won't even get the chance to regret it. Everyone else might be afraid of Gras—but I

As Wagner watched Justus explode in rage, he felt an overwhelming sense of satisfaction. With what he'd just uncovered, there was no need to exaggerate—it was already explosive enough on its own. After all, Justus' future fiancée was touched in that kind of intimate way by a young, healthy doctor. Any man with a spine would lose it."But Justus," Wagner added with a smirk. "Didn't Felix just get publicly praised by the Green King?"Cloud City wasn't that big. Anyone with any influence had been keeping close tabs on Green King Manor—especially with the mystery man who walked out of Desolated Lands involved. So, the news of Felix being rewarded had already spread far and wide.Justus clenched his jaw. "So what? It's just a flash in the pan. If he was truly skilled, the Green King would've kept him. But as long as he hasn't climbed into the Green King's inner circle, I can crush him whenever I want."Wagner's grin widened. That was exactly the attitude he needed. If Justus had shown

The moment the Flame Monarch mentioned the Healer Sage, the Green King's expression shifted noticeably. "So the Sage really was living out there in seclusion... No wonder. Flame Monarch, does this mean you've taken a liking to Felix?"But the Flame Monarch waved his hand dismissively. "There's no need for that."That response made the Green King secretly rejoice. If the Flame Monarch didn't intend to recruit Felix, then he understood why—and that was perfect. It meant the opportunity to take Felix under his own wing was wide open. The night passed quietly. Felix stood beside Christopher's bedside, noticing the man's breathing had grown steady and stable. At this point, the herb had run its course and was no longer effective. But what was left inside Christopher's soul—a strange, lingering force—was exactly what Felix had hoped for.Christopher was alive but completely unconscious. The remaining energy had no regenerative properties, which meant he'd likely never wake again. For Fe

Felix wasn't the least bit surprised by the Flame Monarch's reaction, but he still feigned confusion. "Flame Monarch, I'm sorry... but I don't understand. What do you mean by soul-related injuries?"Just from that single line, Felix confirmed what he suspected—Aquamarinus had no concept of soul-based matters. Whether it was training methods or anything else, this realm hadn't yet touched that domain. The Flame Monarch stared at him, pressure radiating from his body. Felix immediately felt his limbs start to tremble under the invisible weight."You don't know? Then how could you claim to treat that man's condition?" Felix calmly pointed toward the herbs laid out on the table. "The force inside him is definitely strange. It triggered a memory... I once sensed something very similar, and it came from within that herb. It was purely instinct—when something feels familiar, there's a chance it might work."The Flame Monarch shifted his gaze to the herb, then said flatly, "Start from th

Felix gave him a direct and honest answer. "As long as I have enough herbs. I can treat him. I won't promise a full recovery, but one thing I can guarantee you is that this man won't die."For now, that was the best possible answer anyone could offer. The Flame Monarch replied, "Good. Begin. As long as you can keep him alive, you'll be handsomely rewarded."It seemed the Flame Monarch already knew something and never truly expected anyone to completely cure Christopher. Preserving his life alone would already be a feat."Flame Monarch, please reconsider!" one of the elderly doctors suddenly cut in, seething with resentment. "This boy is barely grown—how could he possibly possess such remarkable skill in medicine?"The Flame Monarch turned and gave him a cold, mocking glance. "If he can't do it, then can you?"The old man went silent. Perhaps fearing the loss of favor or acting out of sheer pride, he hesitated. Eventually, he found the courage to speak again."I admit I can't, bu

The Green King's expression changed instantly, and he turned to Felix in a hurry. "Dr. Zeller, please come with me to greet him.""Of course," Felix replied. For anyone in Aquamarinus, getting the chance to see the Flame Monarch up close was like a once-in-a-lifetime dream, and people would probably die happy just for that. Naturally, Felix put on a show of reverence as well, even if he didn't feel it deep down.As they reached the front gate, Felix saw several figures striding toward them with heavy steps. At the front of the group was a towering man, nearly nine feet tall. Even someone as built as Dave looked like a delicate bystander next to him. What stood out the most was his bright crimson hair, which flared upward like flames, making it look like his head was on fire. His facial features were fairly average, but the power behind his gaze radiated pure, undeniable authority. So, this was the Flame Monarch?Felix studied him closely. He suspected the man had cultivated some

According to the rules set by the Flame Monarch, the position of Minor Kings rotated every five years. Those who made outstanding contributions could keep their titles, but anyone who fell short would have to fight for their place all over again. The Green King knew he wasn't particularly strong—he was painfully aware of that. And with the next year marking the fifth year, the pressure was mounting fast. So when Christopher appeared, it felt like fate. If he could heal this man before the Flame Monarch arrived with his elite doctors, the credit would be immense, and his reappointment would be virtually guaranteed. Anyone who had never held a Minor King title wouldn't understand just how many perks came with it. If they did, no one would give it up willingly."I can treat him," Felix said calmly. "But I can't promise a full recovery."The Green King smiled. "Do your best. Even if you can only keep him alive, that alone is worth it."Two doctors before had said that Christopher's b
