Exalia's POV
"Hurry, get to the gates now!"
"Secure the Alpha!"
I watched as all the guards rushed in all directions, their voices sharp with urgency. My heart pounded hard against my chest as I tried to grasp what was happening.
"The rogues are attacking the clinic!" a nurse shouted as she sprinted past the prison, her voice filled with panick. "Move!"
Rogues? An attack?
I clenched my stomach as I felt it twist into knots. My father!
Without a second thought, I turned and followed the guards, my steps quick and unsteady. Every moment that dragged by did so with unbearable dread as different thoughts raced through my mind.
'Please, let it not be as bad as I think.'
"Where is my father?" I called out to a passing guard. The guard didn't even give me listening ear. Instead, he scoffed and kept walking, dismissing me like I didn’t even exist.
"Where’s my family?" I asked as I felt my frustration tighten in my chest. "Where is my father?" I turned again to another guard who stood at the corner but he barely spared me a glance before rolling his eyes.
Why is no one listening to me? Why aren’t they answering? I'm not invisible... am I?
I clenched my fists, trying to reassure myself. But maybe it’s not that bad. My father is the Beta, a skilled warrior. There was no way he would fall so easily. He is strong... he is safe.
He has to be.
But what if he wasn't? What if he was injured? His last wounds that he had received from the beating still hadn’t even healed completely.
Could he survive another battle?
I looked around as the still passing guards. From the sheer number of them, I could tell this was no small attack.
My breath stilled. Please, let him be okay.
I paced inside my cell, before bending down and curling into the corner, hugging my knees. My breath trembled, and my eyes were red with unshed tears.
'Dear Goddess, please protect my family. I can’t lose them. Not now. I need them.'
A strange heaviness settled over me and my heartbeat slowed. What was happening?
Suddenly, I felt a strange dark force wrap around me, pulling me under. My vision blurred as the room spun around. Before I could take a hold of myself, my body collapsed to the cold floor.
****************
"Exalia."
I forced my heavy eyelids open, only to find myself floating in the wide emptiness of nothing. I twisted and turned, searching out for light—but all that me me was darkness.
What is this? Where am I? Am I... dead?
"Exalia." a soft voice suddenly said, echoing through the emptiness.
"Who's there?" I asked, squinting into nothing as I tried to turn around.
"You know who I am, Exalia."
I tensed. Know her? How could I, when she stood in darkness?
"I don't know who you are!" I shouted, my face crunched up into a frown. "How am I supposed to recognize someone I can't even see?"
"I am the Moon Goddess," she declared.
A bitter laugh slipped out of me. The Moon Goddess? Oh come on.
"If you're the Moon Goddess, I have to be the Alpha Queen," I snorted, shaking my head.
"You want to rescue your family," she continued.
I gasped. How did she...? Wait. There was no way. Anyone might know that. Even Maria.
Oh. I see. Maria must have orchestrated this.
"Enough questions, Exalia," she suddenly shouted, her voice cold. "If you wish to save your family, you must become one with your wolf."
"But... I... I just—"
"Listen, child. Danger is coming. And as you are already aware, your pack is under attack!"
My heart sank to my stomach.
"Is there danger? What danger?" I asked her, my voice trembling.
"Your mate is coming," she breathed, her voice... grave.
"I don't have a partner," I muttered, the frown of my face deepening. "No—I did," I immediately corrected, "but he turned me down. So who the hell are you speaking of?"
My mind spun, torn between puzzlement about what was happening and worry about my brother and father.
"You've not encountered him yet," she corrected, her voice now closer to me. I could feel her presence make the entire place darken the more, shadows encroaching at the edges of my vision. "But when he comes... he will bring ruin. Doom will follow in his wake, Exalia. He will deceive you, use you, and then discard you."
I shuddered. Why... why would my mate be so cruel? Mates are supposed to love and protect one another! So why is mine like this?
"This is insane," I growled, shaking my head. "Is the Alpha coming back to me? No... but you said I haven't met him yet. So who?"
"Oh, child," she muttered, sighing in what sounded like pity. "Not every mate is a gift. Some are curses."
I shook my head, not wanting to hear it. "I don't think so. My mate can't be like that! And why would you... why would you give me a cursed mate?"
I felt her presence darken all of a sudden. "Do you question me, Exalia?" she muttered, her voice dropping to a menacing whisper. "Do you question the judgment of the goddess who made you?"
I froze, shaking my head.
"Obey or pay the price," she warned. "Turn away from your mate, protect yourself, lest you lose everything you hold dear."
I felt her presence begin to falter, dissolving into vapor but as she vanished, her final words still lingered, her voice cold but clear.
"Turn him away... or you will suffer."

"Get up, slut," I heard somebody shout as a kick landed on my side. "Alpha Axel wants to see you."
Shivering, my eyes fluttered open as I heard my aching side with a painful groan. I staggered to my feet, my mind still reeling from what had just happened. Was I dreaming? And what did she mean when she spoke of becoming one with my wolf?
"Come on!" the person that had woken me up growled, shoving me forward. I looked up to see that it was a guard. "Move on, slut."
I barely had time to steady myself when I was dragged to the meeting hall. Suddenly, he slammed me onto the floor, pain shooting through my bones.
"Al—"
Squelch!
A sickening, wet sound filled my ears, and I watched as a severed head rolled across the ground beside me.
"Ahhh!" I screamed in horror as I crawled backwards.
"Who dare put his hands on her?!" Alpha Axel thundered as he marched down the corridor, his tone dark and dripping with venom. Veins pulsed beneath his throat as rage blazed in his veins.
For one instant the entire place was filled with silence in the room. Then, as if maddened together, the crowd boiled over again.
"Alpha, we should bring her to trial now!"
I had barely heard the words when I saw guards begin to approach me. Trial? On me?
"The murderer should be punished! Justice for Alpha John!"
Whispers and slurs tumbled across the hall in a wave of mounting voices, as the crowd began shouting with fury. My heart pounded.
"I didn't do it," I cried out as I knelt down, clasping my hands together. "I'm innocent!"
"Enough!" Axel's low voice cut through the chaos, instantly causing the room to go silent at once. His cold eyes scanned the room. "Who is the number one suspect?"
"She is!"
"The murderer!"
"She should be executed!"
"I saw her kill him with my own eyes!"
I just knelt there, watching as the false accusations kept coming. Each word that was said felt like a stab to me.
"She shoved a silver rod in his chest!"
"She wanted him to be her man, but he rejected her—so she killed him!"
Lies. All of them.
"I didn't do anything! I'm... innocent!" I bellowed, desperation scratching at my throat.
"You're going to dispute that?" a voice cut through the crowd. "She ought to be a rogue. I'll wager she's still angry that Alpha Jake rejected her."
I hadn't even had time to answer before Axel lifted his hands. His fists were clenched, his entire body quivering with anger. Then, before anyone could even react to what was happening, he rushed behind the man and in swift motion... SLASH!
Blood splattered in my face.
The dead, headless body of the man fell to the ground, never to move again.
The hall suddenly fell into an unsettling silence. Only the sound of Alpha Axel's labored breathing filled the air, his presence exuding a supremacy.
And then, his voice boomed out, low and definitive.
"Everyone who brought accusations against my mate will be executed," he shouted.
A unified gasp swept the room. The previously bold faces of my accusers shifted into sheer terror. Hands flew to shaking mouths as his words struck them.
Mate?
My breathing faltered.
This is the man she was talking about. The one the Goddess of the Moon warned me about. Was this... my mate?
No. Not possible.
I stood up as I tried to study him, trying to steady my voice through the fear tightening my chest. "I am not your mate," I muttered under my breath. "I hate you so much. I'd rather die to be bound to you."
Axel's POV"She's mine! My mate! My mate!""Easy, Wolfie. We'll get to her soon."The battle between the rogues and the rest of the pack had been more than ferocious. I'd nearly been defeated as they all came onto me in numbers, but my strong bond with my mate only fueled me to move on.I needed her... so much."Find me my mate, now!" I growled at my Beta, Mark, as my patience had begun to thin. Waking down the length of the meeting room, I ran my hand over my hair, adjusted my attire and smoothening an invisible wrinkle on it. I wanted to make an impression to her even though I reeked of sweat and blood. I didn't care about all that. All I wanted was to see her-to know that she was okay, that she didn't hate me for being gone for so long."Alpha," came mark's voice, uncertainty etched in his tone.I turned, my eyebrow furrowing. "What?" I growled under my breath"It's about your mate, Alpha," he muttered, his voice low and his eyes avoiding mine.Something was wrong. "What's become o
Axel's POVThe soft buzzing of cicadas and the quiet whisper of leaves filled the air, feeling me with a sense of peace. My eyelids fell closed as I breathed in the sweet scent of serenity. But that feeling was short-lived as reality slowly broke through. My fists clenched, tension creeping within me as different emotions stirred within my heart.Exalia's face flashed before my thoughts, and a mixture of different emotion plagued me. I furrowed my brows. My connection with Exalia was nothing short of divine. I knew a mating bond was a clean one and sacred, one that could not be broken. But this bond felt like chains, holding me in ways I could not have predicted. My past sins seemed to torment my thoughts-memories I knew could sever the tie between me and Exalia or in the least make it unbreakable.A sudden memory flashed in my thoughts, and I stiffened.I had been in a foul mood that day, mourning the loss of one of my best fighters. Trying to vent my sorrow and anger, I had shifted a
Axel's POV"A council meeting?" I muttered to myself, my brows furrowing before shrugging.I shook off my distracting thoughts, before turning back to my pack house, the guard that had come to announce the meeting following closely behind me. After many trials and hardships, I had finally merged my pack with the Moon Launch Pack—Kiera's old pack. To my surprise, their Alpha had fled his mate even before the battle had begun. I grunted at the memory. How did that wimp become an Alpha? What a coward.Fortunately, Kiera still had the interests of the pack in mind. If not, I would not have proceeded with the merger and just killed off the entire pack. I walked into the pack house with heavy strides until I finally arrived at the council hall. The servant by the entrance pushed the door open after seeing me approaching and I entered confidently. The moment I entered, the once noisy hall immediately fell silent. Not sparing anyone a second glance, I took a seat on the middle chair on the o
Axel's POVThe spiked whip lived up to its name. It had jagged silver spikes intricately embedded along its coiled length, each sharp enough to tear through flesh with remarkable ease. No matter how powerful one’s healing abilities were, the pain of having flesh torn apart before it had time to heal was excruciating. And it was a process that I wanted to make sure would repeat itself. The handle was carved from sturdy oak-a wood that wouldn't break so easily and could withstand the tortures of time-and the rope was made from strong fibers, woven intricately that they felt like rods rather than a flexible cord. One of the Elders upon seeing the men walk in immediately stepped back, his gaze darting between my face and the warriors gripping the whips. The silver spikes gleamed in the light coming from the fireplace and I grinned. They could already tell what was in store for them. “W... What do you plan to do?” he stammered as he took another step back, hiding partially behind one of t
Axel's POVMy brows shot up in surprise but as a sudden thought occured to me. I stared at the trembling elders at the center of the hall and couldn't help but purse my lips in annoyance. What would Exalia think if she saw this scene?Looking at the old men groaning in pain, I suddenly felt irritated and angry. I should have eliminated all of them instead of bringing them here. Initially, I brought them here with the mindset that Exalia still felt a touch of belonging to the pack and the people. I intended to use this to make her accept me, but now I couldn't help but think I had made a mistake.I should have killed them all. I cursed under my breath as I fell back into my seat. It wasn’t clear to me why Exalia, who had always shown her obvious detest toward me, would want to see me all of a sudden. Apart from this feeling of having my heart torn out of my chest, I couldn't help but have this feeling of fear, as I recalled all that I had done to her own kind-white wolves.Could it be
Exalia's POVI glanced at the man as different emotions races through me. I didn't know what to think or feel. Confusion? Disgust? Fear? There was one that prevailed the most though-hatred.Back in the Pack, my life couldn't be considered one that sailed smoothly, but I had my family with me.But now... I have no one. And the bastard even imposes his will on me, forcing me to do things I never want to. He won't allow me to live for myself, nor does he give me any leeway. If not for him, the only two family members I had would not be missing, and I wouldn't have to worry about them each and every day.Everyday, he claims that I am his mate but I'm very sure he's just trying to force me to be with him. Although I've been rejected, I still feel the broken bond with Jake. The bond that I feel with him? There isn't even one. It's obvious he's merely lying to have me to himself."I want to leave," I repeated when I noticed how silent he had become. With his gaze fixated on me, I stared bac
Exalia's POVAxel's lips curled upward in amusement. “I have what it takes to keep you here forever," he said, staring down at me with that same sickening smile. "If I don't want you to leave, then you won’t be able to."I glared at him, my boiling anger simmering and on the verge of erupting. But I held back, my gaze boring into his smug expression.“You can continue throwing your weight around," I spat. "In due time, Alpha Jake will come back and take me from here. You won’t even be able to do anything because he's my true mate." I took a step closer to him, my lips just inches away from his. "For all your strength, you are just an empty, cold tyrant" I scoffed. "Hiding behind your title won’t change that!” A flash of something ominous flickered in Axel's eyes instantly. His smile faltered, and the temperature in the room suddenly dropped. A bad foreboding emerged in my heart, but I refused to show any signs of weakness. I didn’t want him to see me as a delicate vase, meant to be ke
Exalia's POV“You...” I bit down on my lower lip, unable to say another word. I could only glare at the man behind my frustration.Yet, despite my glare, his back remained upright, and his gaze was calm, like an old, ageless well, having no ripples or fluctuation. “Your meals will be brought to you at the right time, and your training will continue when I feel it's right,” he added calmly, as if he had the right to make decisions for me.“I won't eat your food!" I yelled, in anger as I closed my hands into a fist "I don't want to train with you. I don't even want to be near you!” Staying in such an unfamiliar place, not only did I feel uncomfortable, but I also felt like an outcast. Now, I didn't even have the right to walk around. Who wouldn't get angry at that?“It's for your own good, believe it or no," he said, his smile immediately fading. "Until you start behaving like my mate—which you are—I...” He stopped talking midway, waving his hand in dismissal as he sighed. “Just... forg
Exalia’s POVAfter a few more hours of sailing in peace and fun and laughter, our ship finally cut through the last stretch of the sea.“Alex, we’re finally almost home,” I said in excitement, grabbing his hands and dancing like a happy child who had just received a Christmas gift from Santa Clause.“Calm down, calm down, relax your self and behave yourself,” he said, trying to calm me down but I could not help it, I was just too excited, and no one could even calm me down or ask me to stop rejoicing. If Alex had felt half of what I felt about our home, he would have understood the reason why I was so excited that we were finally home, and he wouldn’t ask me to calm down.He would even join me to celebrate. And we saw the coastlines of our kingdom far off like a promised land in the distance.I smiled deep within me, I was home at last, and I would not lie; the vacation had been a very fun and interesting one. I rested my back on the railings, and the wind blew softly against my hai
Exalia’s POVIn the heat of the moment, Alex sprung to feet immediately, as alert as ever. His voice was low and hard, when he called on Ryk and Dane.“Ryk,Dane, get the others ready. Exalia and Tasha, please do well to come with me, so we find out what they want.”The biggest of the pirate ship positioned in front of our ship and one of the men brought out a chain, and used it to hook our ship. The two ships were now hooked together by a big black chain, these humans were really joking with their lives.Suddenly, a dozen haggard looking humans swung into our ship, they looked like touts or cultists, and they carried pistols and rusted cutlasses. Low budget pirates, I bet they thought they had stumbled into easy prey, fools!Their captain who was apparently their leader, was a middle aged call clownish looking man with a patchy beard. He came forward and twirled a blade.“Well well well,” he sneered, grinning and revealing his dirty yellow teeth.“Fancy ship with fancy folks in it, k
Exalia’s POVWhen the champagne bottle reached my turn, I took a gulp and it was quite sharp on my tongue.I was not the type to drink such drinks.I then handed it over to Alex.He smiled and tried to tease me, “Exalia, you’re an adult, you’re above eighteen years old. Please don’t tell me a gulp of champagne is making you shiver like a little baby,” he mocked, grinning with his teeth wide open.“Are you going to take your own gulp, or you prefer to say things that are not profound?” I asked, whispering into his ears, so that only he could hear what I said.He gave me a side eye and took the bottle from my hands, and his eyes glinted with a mischievous look, Alex was a silly old man.“Okay everyone,” he said, shining his teeth and grinning.“To kicking some ass and to popping champagne and drinking on the way home,” he said, pouring down so much of the liquid into his throat. We all burst into a fit of laughter, even Dane fell rolled on the ground, and Tasha lost her footing and fell
Exalia’s POVAfter about ten minutes, Alex came out from the bathroom and his towel covered his body. He looked as handsome as ever as the water dripped down his hair and onto his face then to the ground below.“Well, i hope you did not finish all the hot water,” I said, not even giving him time to breath or rest.He looked at me and shrugged his shoulders, and deep down in my heart, I knew he must be tired of me, because I was really fund of disturbing him so much. Not everyone could tolerate the way a woman would treat them like the way Alex did to me.Sometimes, when I looked at Alex, I saw a humble, gentle and great leader, and I was often very proud of him.I also felt honored to be the Luna and queen of such a wonderful Alpha king like Alex.I know that he we every girls dream, if I was not his Luna, and If he had not yet chosen a mate and married by now, many girls would have been flocking around him in the palace everyday. Many of them would even go out of their way to get h
Exalia’s POV After everything, we all looked for a nearby hotel to rest for the night.“Let’s get a nice hotel to sleep this night,” Alex said, ordering us all to leave the scene. We had all thrown the dead bodies of the creatures into the sea, and they had sunken deep down already.“Tomorrow morning, we head back to the palace.”I was happy that he had finally made the decision and concluded that we would be returning home tomorrow, that was the only thing I wanted to hear right now.Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed my self out here in the Caribbean, but i wanted us to go home, especially as these creatures had attacked us here.Once we got back home, the first thing I was going to do was call Yara and her African brothers and ask them if there’s a way we can eliminate these creatures for good.Come to think of it, it was now becoming like a curse, and it was embarrassing. How would it be that everywhere one went to, these stupid creatures would just show up and start to cause c
Alex’s POV There was a lot of joy in my heart and I was super excited that the last one of the monsters had finally fallen.I shifted back into my guns form and I figured I was so dirty with blood and slight bruises all over my body. Blood flowed down my ribs, and I felt some pain, similar to a muscle pull on my ankle.Exalia was soon with me in a flash, she had also turned back into her human form, and her beautiful silver fur was gone. She examined my minor injuries with her fingers, and I could see that she was not happy about it at all, she seemed sad.“Are you okay?” She asked with a tight and sober voice, she didn’t look so good.“Yeah,” I replied, trying to hide the fact that my bones hurt and I was in slight pain.“How are you holding up?” I asked her.“Hmmm, I’m good,” she said but she stared at the ocean as if she was expecting something. The waves were restless and they splashed as if they were angry at something.Ryk, Tasha and Dane appeared in front of us, and they look
Alex’s POV“Tasha! Right behind you!” I barked, as I saw another monster running towards her direction, it was definitely angry that it’s brothers had been slain by us.But I did not even need to worry myself that much because Dane was already in control. He moved slowly and stalked it as if he were a ghost, then as he got closer, he threw binder on it with a very deadly force that before the creature even knew what was going on, it had already been covered. It roared and spun, then it began to twist its body and roll on the floor, in an attempt to get Dane of its body, but Dane was a top tier military guy, and he was specially trained and built to withstand pressure and fight to the death. Soon, the bar had already been trashed and it was in a total mess. I felt very bad for the owners of this bar because what had been destroyed was their properties and it amounted to a lot of money.Tables were destroyed and glasses were smashed to pieces. Alex’s POVThere was no time to start think or hesitating, I allowed my body to shift easily and my fur tore through my skin, my bones began to crack and soon, I was on all four limbs.I was getting really frustrated, Infact i was already frustrated, because the attacks were already getting to much.Perhaps, when we got back home, I would discuss with Yara and her African brothers on how to permanently eradicate these creatures for good, but for now, it was time to teach them a very bitter lesson. I soon landed hard, I was very big and gigantic in my wolf form, and I was fierce and ready to take on any one and anything.Exalia was right beside me, she had turned too, and she looked like she coul conquer the world, she we a gallant warrior. The over protective spirit in me always made me forget the fact that Exalia was a White Wolf, and she was a lunari. She was the most powerful werewolf of our generation, but I always wanted to protect her due to the fact that she was a lady, and she
