Abigail

From the diaries of Abigail Coursar:

One day, I hope someone finds these diaries and reads all about my life and finds inspiration in my stories. I'm not a hero, and I don't want to be, but I've tried all my life to be a good example for my people and my family.

I became a Duchess at 16, after the horrible, horrible, unfair death of my mother. I was angry with the gods for quite some time after her death. My mother was wonderful and it was not fair to take her from us. My father never fully recovered. As you can probably tell, I never really have either.

Thankfully, my sister survived the illness that took our mother. I would not have survived losing Rose, as well. Losing my best friend, my mother, and my sister in the span of two years would have been too much. Rose is my baby, despite only being less than two years younger than me. I've always mothered her, to an extent. She's always been my closest companion and the one person I could always trust. Rose has never failed
