SOPHIE'S POV
******************
It has been almost a month since my contract with Delacrioux was signed. After I visited the company with Caleb, the signing took a bit more time than necessary. I sometimes wonder if it was because of Caleb's disappearance to God knows where.
The euphoria I felt at the time it was signed had subsided but my heart still hurts from the strain in my relationship with Caleb. He does not show any form of interest in me or try to make any conversation and this hurts me more than I am willing to admit.
I have a feeling he is into someone else. I have fallen in love before and kno

THE PARTY *********************** NARRATORS POV *********************** Sophie wanted to host the party away from their family mansion; she knew what transpired at the last party the family hosted to announce the contest for the new heir apparent to the Fernandez empire. She wanted Caleb to feel comfortable and the only way to achieve that would be to ensure that the party was not held in their family banquet hall at their mansion where almost all the family ceremonies had been celebrated. However, the family matriarch objected to the idea. She insisted that any event of the family must be held at the banquet hall. Sophie, who also inherited her grandmother’s strong
MEMORIES ********************* NARRATORS POV *********************** We are so proud of you Sophie. From when you were a little girl, you showed great resilience and we believed that you would do great things and make the family proud.” grandpa Greg said to Sophie after kissing her on both her cheeks. Her grandma Rosaline held her in a firm hug for some minutes and when she separated the hug Sophie could see glitters of tears in her eyes. “You made us proud tonight, my darling. I have no words to describe it.” the tears flowed down her well powdered weathered cheeks, Sophie brought out a clean white handkerchief from her purse and cleaned the tears.
ME, MYSELF AND I ******************* ANGELA’S POV ******************* “LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE '' is my new motto. Life is indeed short, and tomorrow might never be. A sad fate, but someone’s reality. I had earlier refused to go to the Fernandez party with Caleb when he asked me because I was not in the right frame of mind. How do I go partying when my life was crumbling before me; when my life was enveloped by grief? It was indeed a sad phase for me. However, the more I brooded over my life and situation, I got to realize that I had to live before I die. I couldn’t spend the remaining days dying instea
YES, TO LIVING ******************* CALEB’S POV ******************** I was surprised that Sophie invited me to her party considering our last run-in with each other. I wasn't keen on going but I realized that avoiding her and her family was not beneficial to my plans. As I contemplated on whether to go or not, Angela came into my mind and I decided to invite her. It has been almost a few weeks now since I last saw her as she traveled to see her parents. I decided to call her to know if she was back in New York or not. She didn't pick her call on the first ring and when she managed to pick she sounded off and this scared me a lot. I didn't understand what she was saying at first a
Meeting the rival **************** Sophie’s pov **************** Since after the party, I’ve been feeling woozy and sick and for the life of me, I can’t explain why. I hardly get sick and at first, I thought it was the flu but the symptoms I’m having, state otherwise. I would have called in sick today, but I can’t. I have a meeting with the head of sales of Delacroix enterprise and I have to be on my best behavior, that’s if I intend to get more business deals from them. I quickly shower and try to moisturize my skin, but the smell of the lotion makes me sick and I rush to the toilet and puke out the little breakfast I had this morning. I splash some water on my face and walk back into my r
FOR F*CKS SAKE ********************** NARRATOR’S POV *********************** “I have spent decades building this company, and because that ...that riff-raff got a contract she now feels high and mighty and wants to start rubbing shoulders with me.” David rumbled on, his tie loosely hung over his neck, his shirt unbuttoned exposing the white singlet he was wearing inside. His wife Ella cringed as she looked at her husband. He must have lost his mind, was all she could come up with. He was not a heavy drinker and seeing him drunk and in this state made her angry. And it was no one else's fault but Sophie’s and her parents. They feel on top of the world lately. The most annoying part was the grandparent’s sudden favoritism for them. “Bunch of lo
LET IT BE ********************** SOPHIE’S POV *********************** Three Months LATER………….. The morning sickness has subsided greatly and I heaved a great sigh of relief. I thought the baby would come out of my mouth as I nearly puked my intestines out daily for almost three weeks. I wonder why they call it morning sickness when you are sick all day. I found myself eating foods I usually detested and found out the smell of my once favorite perfume made me sick. I know you guys must be wondering why I'm talking about morning sickness when I had earlier made an appointment to get rid of the baby. FLASHBACK……….
CHANGES *********************** NARRATOR’S POV *********************** The whole family was in a frenzy as they waited for news concerning their father and grandfather. Helen was hysterical, moving from one end of the hall to the other. “Sit down, for goodness’ sake, or stay still. You are making me dizzy with your back and forth,” David yelled at his elder sister. “Get a life you son of a gun.” Helen hissed but stayed still, her back resting on the wall. “Whore.” David muttered, ready for a fight of words with his sister. Everyone ignored them, as they were all tensed by what was happening. When they bo
EPILOGUE ********************** 5 MONTHS LATER ********************** Sophie had every reason to be happy today. It had been nine months of pelvic pain, sleepless nights, and heartache. In the end, it was worth it all; she held her baby who came into the world a few minutes ago, and instantly fell in love. The baby's cry was like a sweet melody in her ears. She would not trade her for all the gold in this world. “Congratulations darling.” Her mother smiles as she enters the room Sophie and her baby were at the Richmonds maternity center, usually patronized by the rich and famous not forgetting celebrities. Sophie smiled weakly, “I'm famished, I could eat a truckload of food r
THE LAST RUN ******************** CALEB’S POV ****************** I am already fifteen minutes late for the meeting. I can't wait to see the shock on their faces when I arrive. From what my personal assistant has told me, the whole family is in the boardroom, waiting for my arrival. I am also intentional about my dress code. Instead of the usual suit and tie, I decided to wear a shirt and ripped jeans; I look like the normal average guy, which to me is perfect. Brad, my chief operating officer, had earlier objected. He is from the school that believes that corporate events have a dress code, not me. I wear what I want to my own company. It feels great to be at the helm of so much power at this point.
MY BUTTERFLY ****************** CALEB’S POV ****************** My heart is heavy and burdened as I watch the woman who has come to mean everything to me wither away before my eyes. I see her pains and how she tries so hard to hide them with a smile. Sometimes I want to break down and cry but for her, I try to be strong. However when she is not watching I go to a private place and cry. They say strong men do not cry but for Angela’s sake I agree to be a weakling for her sake I agree that I am not man enough. We have only known each other for a short while now but to me; it seems like forever. We both have never been intimate, as we agreed to only remain friends. Angela's choice, not mine. My marriage with S
