Stubborn Old Man

Grandpa stood in front of me and Alexander. He gave Alexander a shoulder pat while grinning. "Now you are truly part of the Mourinho family. I'm leaving my naughty granddaughter to you. She's a little stubborn, but I'm sure you can handle her well."

I honestly felt sorry for Grandpa. He trusted Alexander so much, that he didn't realize that he had been deceived by the man. Despite Alexander's ability to manage a good business, he was a greedy man who wanted to control Grandpa's wealth. And I'm sure that's his main reason for wanting to marry me. Look, he doesn't even seem to care about my status as a widow. Whereas with his good looks and the wealth he has now, I'm sure he can get a beautiful woman who has never been married.

Grandpa turned to me. "You must feel I'm forcing you into marriage, but you won't regret marrying Alexander. He's a very responsible man."

I just forced a smile in response to Grandpa's words. Someday I would make Grandpa realize that he was just being used by Alexander.

"Well, then, do not make me wait too long to hold my great-grandson. I am getting older," Grandpa said, winking at Alexander.

I flinched when Alexandre suddenly put his arm around me. I wanted to break away by elbowing him, but I couldn't do that in front of Grandfather.

"Of course, Grandpa. In nine months, you'll be holding great-grandchildren as beautiful as Chloe," Alexander said, which really made me sick.

I stood on my tiptoes so my lips could reach Alexander's ear, then whispered, "Who says I want to have children."

Grandpa frowned at me. "What did you say?" he asked with a curious look.

Before I could answer that I wanted to delay having children, Alexander beat me to it, "Chloe says she can't wait to see our son."

Grandpa laughed, looking very happy. I exhaled harshly, realizing that his high expectations would only bring him deeper disappointment.

Mindfully, I stepped on Alexander's feet which were covered in shiny leather shoes. I pressed my foot down hoping he'd be in pain, but his annoying smile didn't disappear at all, confirming that I was just wasting my energy stepping on him.

"Grandpa, may I take my leave now? It feels hot wearing this dress. I'd like to change first," I excused myself because I didn't want to linger too long with Alexander.

"My dear, do you need help taking off your dress? I can help you," Alexander offered, then blinked one eye at me. Something was wrong with his eyes, so he kept blinking incoherently at me.

"No, there's no need, I can do it myself," I refused, removing Alexander's hands from my shoulders.

Grandpa nodded. "Yes, please, I also have to borrow Alex for a while because I have something to discuss with him, a work matter. I hope you do not mind separating from your husband for a while.

I knew Grandpa actually intended to tease me, but I hoped he'd take Alexander away forever so that I wouldn't have to look at that annoying face of his anymore. I was just about to leave the place, but my steps were halted when Alexander grabbed my hand.

The man moved closer to me, then whispered, "Wait for me in the room, Little Princess."

I pulled my hand hard until it slipped from Alexander's grasp. I turned around and quickly walked away with resentment building up in my chest. I would never open my bedroom door to that disgusting man. Yes, never.

"What are you doing in my room?" I asked when I saw the servants taking things out of my room.

"Sorry, Miss, we've been asked by the Master to vacate your room."

"And why is that? Do you not see that I am still living in this mansion? I'm sure you received the wrong order."

The servant shook his head. "No, Miss, the Master did ask us to vacate your room as it will be redecorated. The clothes and items you are still using have been organized in your new room."

I frowned. "My new room? I didn't move to any room."

"But it says your room moved to the main room on the second floor."

My eyes widened realizing that the room they were referring to was the room my parents used to use. I let out a harsh breath realizing that I was sure Grandpa had arranged all this with the hope that Alexander and I would share my late parents' room. What a stubborn old man.
