Nicholas scoffed at Reyna’s resistance. “Don’t play coy, darling. After all these years apart, you still want me as much as I want you.” He ran a finger along her jawline, smirking as she flinched away in revulsion.

“I want nothing from you,” Reyna spat, slapping his hand away. “You made it clear whose side you chose when you tried to kill me. I’ll never let you near Mia.”

Nicholas’ eyes darkened dangerously. “That little accident wasn’t personal, just bad luck. But now I’m her father, and it’s my right to see her.”

“You signed away your rights when you decided we meant nothing to you.” Reyna stood firm, refusing to back down despite the threat radiating from Nicholas’ towering form.

His hand shot out, clasping her wrist in a vice grip. “Wrong answer, darling. I always get what I want in the end.”

Reyna bit back a cry of pain as Nicholas’ fingers ground into her flesh, sure to leave ugly bruises. Before she could retaliate, a low voice cut through the night like a razor.

Olivia gazed out the window of the lavish mansion she shared with her husband Nicholas, a perfectly manicured brow furrowed in thought. Ever since his failed attempts to get Reyna and that brat Mia under his control, Nicholas has fallen into a sullen mood that has ruined all her careful plans. No matter what, she was never one to be deterred by small setbacks. Where Nicholas failed, Olivia would succeed through her cunning wiles. After all, she hadn’t clawed her way from humble beginnings by being meek. It was time to remind dear Nicholas, whose ambition drove their empire and whose charms kept him beholden. Smoothing an immaculate skirt, Olivia entered the study where Nicholas nursed a scotch, glaring moodily into the crackling fireplace. “Still sulking over that shrew, darling?” she remarked sweetly, perching on the arm of his chair and running delicate fingers through his hair. “Forget her; she’s beneath us now.” Nicholas grunted, not pulling away but making no sign of what he he

Mia’s tantrum exhausted her. Aunt Mildred rocked the little girl until her tears slowed, then lifted her onto the plush sofa, wrapping a soft blanket around her shoulders.“I’m sorry, Auntie,” Mia sniffled. “I didn’t mean to get so upset.”“Oh, sweetheart, you have nothing to apologize for.” Aunt Mildred tucked a strand of Mia’s hair behind her ear. “You are allowed to feel however you feel. But remember, it’s not other people’s job to understand. The only thing that matters is that your mommy loves you so very much.”Mia nodded, leaning into her aunt’s embrace. “I love Mommy too. More than anything.”Aunt Mildred smiled. “I know, darling.”Just then, the front door swung open, and Reyna breezed in, arms loaded with groceries. “Sorry, I’m late! The store was absolutely mobbed.” Spotting her daughter curled on the sofa, she frowned. “Mia, what’s wrong?”Mia bit her lip. “Just… some kids at school were laughing about me not having a dad. But I’m okay now.”Reyna’s expression softened. S

The blare of Reyna’s alarm jolted her awake, her heart already racing with nerves. Today I decided everything. She rushed through her morning routine, gulping coffee to clear the fatigue fogging her brain. A glimpse of the clock sent her hurrying to rouse Mia. “Rise and shine, sleepyhead! Aunt Mildred will be here soon to get you to school.” Mia yawned hugely, blinking up at Reyna with bleary eyes. “Is the mean lady coming today?” Reyna smiled softly, tugging a brush through her daughter’s tangled bedhead. “Yes, but don’t you worry. I’ve got this.” I hope. By the time Aunt Mildred arrived, Reyna had Mia dressed and fed, though the girl still clung to her mother anxiously. “You’ll do amazing, Mommy,” she declared, throwing her skinny arms fiercely around Reyna’s neck. “I just know it!” Reyna swallowed the lump in her throat, hugging Mia tight. “Thanks, baby girl. Now go learn lots at school!” After farewell hugs, she watched Aunt Mildred buckle a waving Mia into her sedan and s

The drive back from the disastrous wine-tasting event was a miserable blur for Reyna. She gripped the steering wheel tightly, knuckles white, as she navigated the familiar roads on autopilot. Her thoughts churned endlessly, replaying the confrontation with Olivia and the subsequent catastrophe over and over. How could she have been so stupid, letting her guard down enough for Olivia to sneak in and sabotage Phoenix’s signature wine? And then to steal the proprietary blend Reyna had painstakingly perfected in secret, passing it off as her creation to wow the investors? It was a cutthroat move, even for her ruthless cousin. Mr Daniel’s dismissal of Phoenix’s “amateur offerings” in favour of Olivia’s deception had felt like a physical blow. As if all Reyna’s years of sweat and sacrifice meant nothing under the sway of money and connections. Blinking back furious tears, Reyna forced herself to breathe slowly. She could not let Olivia’s latest scheme break her. Too much depended on her

Nicholas closed the file on his desk while leaning back into his chair and heaving out a soft sigh. The weight of his thoughts was centered on Reyna. His thoughts were always consumed by her face, day and night. She had an undeniable allure that consumed his every waking moment. Her brown eyes never ceased to draw men into a deep trance. Her olive skin had freckles that scattered beautifully across her face, while her soft pink lips fit perfectly on his cock. He groaned softly, feeling the familiar ache of desire surge through his body, as his thoughts were interrupted by the shrill ring of his phone. He took out his phone from his pocket, and the caller ID, ‘Wifey’, flashed on it. Cringing at the name, he reluctantly answered, only to be met with the sound of high-pitched laughter in the background. “Olivia, where the hell are you?” His voice carried a fierce edge, frustration seeping through each word. There was a moment of silence, followed by some shuffling on the other end. “B

Nicholas stared at Olivia, his eyes burning with a mix of anger and hurt. “I can’t ignore the doubts anymore, Olivia. Something doesn’t feel right,” he said, his voice trembling with emotion. Olivia scoffed, her eyes flashing with indignation. “How dare you accuse me of cheating? I’ve never been unfaithful to you,” she retorted, her voice laced with venom. Nicholas ran a hand through his hair, his frustration mounting. “It’s not just about infidelity, Olivia. It’s about the way you’ve been neglecting our son, leaving him stranded at school today. This isn’t the first time you’ve dropped the ball, and it’s tearing our family apart.” Olivia’s face contorted with anger, her voice rising. “Oh, please! You’re the one to talk? You’re always so obsessed with Reyna, secretly staring at her picture when you think I’m not looking. Maybe you’re the one who’s been unfaithful!” Nicholas felt a pang of guilt at the mention of Reyna’s name. Yes, he had been captivated by her, drawn to her in a wa

Reyna took a deep breath as she stared at her reflection in the mirror. Today was the day she would become Mrs. William Parker. Her heart pounded with anxiety and apprehension. She had gone over every detail again and again, weighing the pros and cons. Ultimately, her ambitions and desire to succeed had won out over any doubts or fears. As she put the final touches on her makeup, her mind wandered to William. They had only met briefly when he proposed the unusual arrangement, but there was an undeniable magnetism about him that both thrilled and intimidated her. She wondered if there could ever be anything real between them, or if this would be a cold business transaction. A soft knock at the door pulled Reyna from her thoughts. “Come in,” she said, her voice tinged with nervousness. The door creaked open and Aunt Mildred entered, her eyes filled with concern. “Reyna, are you absolutely sure about this?” she asked gently. “You know you don’t have to go through with it if you’ve ch

After dinner, Reyna pulled William aside, an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach. “Can I speak with you privately for a moment?” she asked. William raised an eyebrow but followed her out to the hallway. As soon as they were out of earshot, Reyna whirled around, anger flashing in her eyes. “What was that stunt you pulled during dinner?” she demanded, keeping her voice low. “Mia looked terrified. Irritation crossed William’s face. “I told you from the beginning not to expect me to play father to your daughter,” he said coldly. “I provided full financial support to you as we agreed. But parenting is not part of the arrangement.” “That doesn’t mean you need to scare her!” Reyna shot back, struggling to keep her voice down. “She’s just a little girl, William. There was no call for you to try to intimidate me in front of a six-year-old.” William’s eyes narrowed dangerously and he took a step towards Reyna, his tall frame looming over her. She fought the urge to step back, standing

“I have some very good news”“Talk to us, doctor”, William said. “Well, as per your request, we ran the tests and we are happy to inform you, miss Flores that you now have a donor for Mia’s surgery.”Reyna was too stunned to speak. “What…. You’re joking right? Please tell me you’re not kidding. My baby is going to live?” She stuttered as she felt tears of joy beginning to fall from her eyes. She was beyond happy. Everything was beginning to look up and she could not wait to meet with the donor. “Of course, miss Flores. We had someone come in some time ago to run a test to check compatibility and the results came back positive. So, there you have it.” He said. “Oh! Thank goodness. Thank you so much doctor.” She said, as she reached out for a handshake. “It’s no problem, ma’am”.“If it’s no problem, can we meet with the donor? “Nicholas, what are you doing here?”“Reyna, Reyna, you know there is absolutely no need for you to be so defensive around me.” He said as he dna irked and tsked at her. Reyna didn’t need to hear him out to know that he was bad news. There was just something sinister about his sudden appearance at the hospital. But then, she thought, maybe he had given careful thought to her offer and agreed to come over and help out with the treatment process, but she refused to get her hopes up until she heard from him what it was that brought him here. “Why are you here?” Reyna asked, maintaining her stance. She refused to be swayed or intimidated by Nicholas’ presence. She was done being his little scared wife. “Straight to the point, I see. You know, that is one of the things that attracted me to you in the first place. You never liked beating about the bush. Always straight down to business. Always, always, never failed to get a rise out of me. Never. Even now, you’re just the same as ever.”

William had gone out to get the doctors and aunt Mildred had not yet come back from her errand. Reyna sobbed as she hugged Mia to herself. She kept begging Mia to open her eyes but the young child was not responsive as she lay limp in her arms. William drove like a mad man from the office to the park, bypassing every sign and speed limit just to get to Reyna, he had never broken any speed limit but for Reyna, he was ready to do anything. He had never felt this strongly for a woman in all his life. In less than five minutes, he was at the park, racing crazily to the park, frantically looking around for Reyna or her car. He tried calling her but for some reason, he could not reach her and it made him more anxious. Thankfully, after a few failed tries, he was able to get her. He heaved a sigh of relief as the call went through. “Hello, William”, Reyna’s voice sounded more like a whisper from the other end of the line. “Reyna, thank goodness. I have been trying to reach you since forever. I’m at the park gate. Where are you?” He asked in a single breath. “I’m at the lake just by the big tree”, she said. She sounded so stressed and tired and William’s heart went out to her. He quickly ran out to meet her, spotting her car do

Nicholas stood at the door of the office. He was surprised to see her so soon, even more surprised when he saw her name flash on his phone in a call about five minutes ago. True, he had been in a meeting but he had immediately cancelled and rescheduled the meeting, but he would never let her know that. Reyna took a deep breath as soon as the door started to open. It was time to put on her big girl pants and face Nicholas. She started walking out of the elevator, a sudden air of confidence in her stride as she walked into the room. She was never a timid woman and Nicholas would not make her one. “Reyna, what a pleasant surprise. I never imagined I would see the day you would walk in to my office.” Nicholas said as his face widened in a smirk. Reyna scoffed. Of course he was going to try to rub it in her face. “I am not here on my volition, if that’s what you are thinking. I only came to talk to you about Mia.” She said as she finally reached him. His smile dropped a bit but he didn

Mia felt so weak and so much pain that talking had become more of a Herculean task for her. She slowly woke up as she felt someone crying and holding her hands. She had not even realized that she had fainted and had been rushed to the hospital. There, kneeling next to her bed was the unmistakable head of her mother who held her hands and cried into the sheets. She looked up to see aunt Mildred also standing there, in tears. She opened her mouth to say something but no words came out. Her throat felt parched and even being awake was painful to the young child. Soon, she felt like screaming as her heart started beating faster, offsetting the machine next to her and drawing her mother and aunt’s attention. She could hear them talking to her and crying and moving around between themselves but she could not do anything but look around and just observe her surroundings. Soon, a doctor and a nurse rushed into the room as her mom and aunt were ushered out of the room. She could hear the do

Reyna slowly woke up, she tried to get up but fell back feeling a pain in her head. She laid back down, moving from side to side to try to fire out where she was, the pain in her head increasing with each movement. For a brief moment, she had no clue where she was or what had happened. After a few minutes, the curtain was pulled to the side revealing a distressed looking aunt Mildred. “Oh! My poor child. You are awake. You had me so worried. How do you feel now? Does it hurt anywhere?” Aunt Mildred asked as she walked up to Reyna’s bed, placing a hand on her forehead to check her temperature before going on to give the still confused Reyna a once over. Reyna still felt the last waves of the sedatives running through her veins and was still a bit out of it. “Oh! Thank the heavens. You look better. I’ll have the doctor come in and see if you’re out of the woods yet. Just stay there, don’t you move a muscle, you hear me?” Ain’t Mildred said as she hastily ran out of the curtained ro
