Several cries came one after the other, and Samantha knew that Violet had left for the next life. She wrapped her arms around Adrian's neck and buried her face into his chest. She cried, her body trembling as tears drenched her cheeks.

Adrian held Nova with one hand, stroking Samantha's hair with the other. In a consoling voice, he said, "There are times when we can only allow nature to take its course rather than trying to change it. It was bound to happen someday."

"I know,” Samantha lamented, "But I wasn't expecting for this day to arrive so soon. She may have been unkind to me in the past, but she…she's still my grandmother."

Adrian said nothing in reply. Instead, he held her tight in his embrace, catching a whiff of the fragrance coming from her hair.

"Can I help out with her funeral?" Samantha asked, her face still buried against Adrian's chest.

"As much as you should be there to help. There's something even more important you need to do right now," Adrian
