Chapter 873

Author: Celestial Clouds
Those three short words embodied deep misery and frustration.

Gloria’s eyes glistened with tears. On that eventful day five years ago, she was lying in Adrian’s arms and knew she was about to die. She was very conscious before she died. Thinking back to that time, she felt like she had been in a dream. She dreamt that she was trapped in a sealed space and only awakened upon hearing the fighting noises in the outside world, only to discover that five years had already passed.

Gloria lowered her head and wiped away her eyes. She badly wanted to cry. Everything felt like a nightmare.

She covered her charming face with one hand because she did not want Adrian to see her tears. Adrian used to regard her as a strong woman back when they trained together in Wyvern Peak. She was fearless and would never shed a tear.

But she wanted to cry so badly right now.

A strong hand gently held her tiny hand. Adrian stood by Gloria and kept her company as they looked out at the boundless sea.

In the lab, Shane’s student brought over a hazmat suit as soon as Adrian walked in. He said to Adrian, “Sir, please put on the hazmat suit before you enter.”Adrian quickly put it on and walked into the lab.Shane and a group of professors were observing the data analysis of the rock. Upon noticing Adrian, the group of people called out.“Legate!”“You’re here, sir.”Adrian nodded. “What have you found?”Shane said, “We performed an analysis on the rock you brought back from the island. It isn’t made up of Earth’s organic materials and is possibly from outer space. In other words, it’s a meteorite.”“I expected as much,” Adrian said, “What is it made of?”Shane inhaled a deep breath and replied, “We can’t find any related information on the substances found on it. It’s made up of materials that we don’t know of and there’s plenty of room to study it closely.”Adrian glanced at Shane. “Does it emit some sort of radiation?”Shane shook his head. “No.”“No?”“Yes, it isn’t rad

Adrian was under the assumption that the meteorite from outer space emitted radiation. But judging from the current findings, it was the worms that were the real cause of the hallucinations. It was these worms that changed Gloria’s body. The truth was unveiled.Adrian felt relieved ever so slightly. It was great news that they made a new discovery in their research on the first day.“Professor Shane.” Adrian turned around and looked toward Shane as he said, “Work together with Winslow to find out a way to stop the worms from continuing the mutation within three months. Find an antidote for Gloria.”Shane said, “Don’t worry, sir. This matter is crucial to the whole country so we’ll devote every effort to this. However, I have a suggestion. I’d like to lead a team of researchers to carry out reconnaissance on the island.”“Apply with Her Majesty. She will assign people to send you there,” said Adrian.Upon saying that, Adrian left the lab. It was already midnight. He returned to t

The first place that Gloria wanted to go upon her return was to visit her parents’ graves at her family home. Adrian would accompany her, of course.“Mya, return to Swallowston and inform Sam about the situation here. Gloria and I will head back to Swallowston right after we’re done dealing with other matters,” Adrian briefed Mya.Mya answered with an “mm-hmm” and waved at Gloria. “See you in Swallowston. By then, Sam and I will have a grand feast prepared for you!”Gloria smiled and said, “Thank you, Mya!”“Don’t mention it. Farewell!”After saying goodbye to Mya, Adrian drove Gloria away from the garrison base. Jacky and the others did not turn up to say bye as all Wyvern Peak’s departments were in a state of battle preparation after receiving Crystal and the elders’ orders.Hence, they could only gaze after the departing Adrian.***The car was filled with Gloria’s anticipation. It carried her joyous laughter as it pulled away from the base and passed through the coastal cit

A woman wearing a business suit was sitting behind the office table as she quietly looked through a series of documents on the computer. The woman exuded a classy presence, had a beautiful figure, and a mature, charming face. She had dark, long hair that draped over her shoulders. She looked rather similar to Gloria if one were to look closely. This woman was Gracia. She was a renowned female entrepreneur, philanthropist, and writer of the Southwest region. She had published five books and had thousands of fans. Her books were about the story of a heroine who was as brave as a man. The female lead of her book was named Cora Thompson and she was a soldier at the frontier.Wyvern Peak’s members who read Gracia’s books knew that the inspiration for the main character of these books was Gloria. Perhaps Gracia had missed her sister in her heart all this time.“Ms. Gracia…”A female secretary walked into the office.Gracia did not even look up as she said, “What is it?”The secretary

Gracia nodded. “Let’s do it. Mobilize all the subsidiary plants to supply the machinery to them according to the order and charge them the usual price…”“What? Ms. Gracia, materials prices are currently experiencing huge inflation. If we were to charge them the usual price, we wouldn't profit from the order. We might even lose money.”“Just do as I said. Gale will owe me one for this. Oh, also, what’s the date tomorrow?”“Twenty-sixth of April.”“That’s my parents’ death anniversary. I’ll be traveling to Slipcounty’s Thompsonville tomorrow, so clear my itinerary. I want to visit my parents’ graves,” said Gracia.“Yes, Ms. Gracia. Do you need any bodyguards to go with you?”“It’s fine. I’ll go alone.”The secretary did ask any further and walked out of the office to make arrangements. After she left, Gracia turned her head and looked toward a photo displayed on her office table. It was a photo of her sister, Gloria. It was only the only photo that Gracia had of her. After their

Adrian and Gloria drove away. As soon as their car left, Gracia’s Mercedes Benz drove out of the company in a different direction. The sisters passed by each other on the main street.***The sky was almost dark when Adrian found a hotel to stay the night with Gloria.Gloria sat on the bed of the hotel room and appeared preoccupied, seemingly anxious. Adrian prepared a hot bath for her and said, “It’s getting late. You should take a bath and go to bed. What are you thinking about?”Gloria raised her head, looked at Adrian, and said, “Do you think Gracia will still acknowledge me as her sister? I abandoned her for so many years and made her go through everything on her own. I’m older than her, so after our parents died, I was supposed to be responsible for her.”“She’ll understand.” Adrian placed his hands on her shoulders.“I hope so…” answered Gloria.“Alright, there’s no use overthinking it. You’ll see her tomorrow. Go take a bath now.”Gloria answered with “mm-hmm” and got

Her body shook upon seeing these people.“Gracia, your sister has fallen, but you should pull yourself together. You must pull yourself together. This is the last photo that your sister left for you…” A female soldier passed a photo to her.Gracia covered her head and stayed in bed. She was unusually quiet that day.She felt hopeless. She felt helpless.***“Gloria!”Gracia jolted back to reality. While in the tub, she suddenly called out her sister’s name and her eyes flew open. She looked around her and discovered that she was having the same dream again.“Gloria…” Gracia called out softly. She covered her head and curled up into a ball, agony surging through her.Gracia stayed in the bathtub the whole night. When she woke up the next day, she quickly packed her things, picked up her car keys, and headed downstairs. She hopped into her car and headed to the village.Meanwhile, in the hotel, Adrian and Gloria had already checked out and walked out of the hotel. Adrian opened
