Chapter 2090

Author: Celestial Clouds
“Can you see them and determine their cause of death while standing so far away?" Adrian questioned.

"I can’t see them," Igor refuted, "But Sir Hennessy is a trustworthy person and would never lie."

"What I’m asking you is whether you can see the color of their lips from where you’re standing right now," Adrian asked as he sneered.

Igor explained smugly, "They’re all lying on the ground, and I’m no clairvoyant, so of course, I can’t see them from here. Sir Hennessy is the one who told me that detail."

Rozi then piped up, "Sir, that man you speak was standing even farther away than where you’re standing now. Also, the bodies are scattered everywhere. How could he have possibly determined anything about the bodies or the number of bodies there are.”

Igor was stunned. ‘The leader of Medicis Manor surely wouldn’t lie. And these bodies certainly shouldn’t be lying neatly next to each other. This man must’ve moved them before we got here.’

"Is this all true?" Igor asked.

Adrian nodded

Adrian raced toward Medicis Manor.Hendrick, who was working in the herb field, immediately shouted when he saw Adrian, "Where’s Arlo?""I don’t know!" Adrian did not stop and charged on.Hendrick was puzzled, but just as he was about to ask further, Adrian had already passed the field and showed no intention of engaging in conversation. The horse had not even come to a complete stop when Adrian and Rozi both jumped off it and headed straight for Medicis Manor. The first thing that caught their eyes was the resident watchdog that was lying dead on the ground.Rozi exclaimed in shock, "Someone attacked Medicis Manor! Let’s head to study right away!""No!" Adrian had figured it out. What Shaquille wanted was the herbs and to warn them not to act recklessly while he was at it. "We have to go to the cellar. We can’t let them get the herbs."Rozi was frustrated. Lionel had regarded the study as a part of his life and loved studying the ancient tomes there. He had claimed that the tom

Adrian scoffed. "What you said may have been true in the past, but things have changed. I’m the current leader of Medicis Manor." He pointed to the silver badge on his waist.Hennessy’s expression fell. Up until now, both parties had only been bluffing without providing any concrete proof. But Adrian had now revealed his identity."Kill him! There will be a generous reward for the person that brings him down!" Hennessy shouted.Adrian sneered. "I strongly advise you to reconsider. If you dare to lay a hand on me, I’ll make sure Moonlit answers for your actions.""Move it!" Hennessy roared. With his identity exposed, the only way for him to keep himself safe was to kill Adrian. Therefore, of course, he was not about to listen to Adrian."Stop!"Someone leaped over the wall, stood before Adrian, and glared at Hennessy."Sir Hennessy, you’re an elder of Moonlit, but you’ve tarnished the reputation of our faction for your own selfish gain. You’re my problem now," Igor said firmly.

“So, Hennessy’s the real perpetrator behind those deaths!" Adrian gnashed his teeth in anger. "I won’t let him get away with this. Anyone who dares to plot against me will pay the price!""Save me!" Igor pleaded feebly.Adrian picked Igor up and rushed to the Thousand Herbs Study. Lionel would be able to save Igor. However, the study was empty with not a soul in sight. Even after calling out several times, there was no response.‘Now what?’ Adrian put Igor down and pulled the silver needle out from Igor’s chest. The tip of the needle was black, and though only a few short moments had passed, Igor’s life was already hanging by a thread."This is the only method I can think of." After saying this, Adrian dug a hole under the peony bush and placed Igor in it. He then turned to Rozi. "Stay here and watch over him. I’m going to find Mr. Lionel.""Please be careful." Rozi was worried as their opponent this time around was ruthless. The person would do anything and would not give up so

"Look carefully," Adrian instructed. As for Arlo whose condition was very severe, Adrian wondered if Lionel had cured him.Inside the hut, there were injuries on Lionel’s shoulders. They were likely caused by those men in black. Lionel’s clothes were stained red by his blood, but despite this, he was still tending to Arlo. Silver needles were sticking out all over Arlo’s head. Lionel did not even stop to tend to his own wounds.Ophelia and Caroline were also covered in injuries. They were standing by the side, nervously watching Lionel, hoping that he could save Arlo.Adrian decided not to disturb them and quietly withdrew from the hut. He knew that speaking to Lionel now would only disrupt his focus."Where’s Claude?" Adrian asked.Marissa’s heart trembled upon hearing the question. "When the enemy attacked earlier, he ran the other way to divert their attention away from us.”"Baldy, stay here and guard Lionel. Marissa and I will go find Claude." Adrian divided the tasks on ha

The men panicked. Now that they were cornered, they could only wait for an opportunity to escape."We won’t tell you anything," one of them said, "If you have the guts, come at us. We’ll see who walks out of here in one piece."They wanted to continue to resist, but this was not an option in Adrian’s books.Adrian looked at Claude. "Go help Lionel. He’s injured."Claude was shocked. Bucky had been protecting Lionel, so did they lose to those men?"I’ll go find them!" Claude hurried off.Seeing Claude trying to leave, one of the men took out a bow and arrow from behind his back and took a shot at Claude. Adrian saw this, and of course, would not allow it to happen. He leaped into the air, caught the arrow, and flung it back at the shooter."You people are lawless!" Adrian rebuked, "Why turn to such means to kill an apothecary?!"Stab! The shooter got hit by the arrow that Adrian had thrown back. He dropped off the roof and landed on the ground. The other two men trembled in fe

"You're not getting away!" Marissa charged forward and tried to reach the man with her claw. The man had no choice but to retreat in panic.Adrian then arrived before the man and raised the Purple Scimitar. "Since you refuse to do as we say, I shall send you to hell!""Let's see if you can do it!" the man shouted arrogantly as he pulled out his sword. "My sword is one of the strongest weapons around! You won’t defeat me that easily!"Adrian sneered and said, "Having a powerful sword is one thing, but being able to wield it is another thing. You shouldn't look down on me either." Seeing the man approaching, Adrian quickly raised his sword to meet the attack.Clank! The blades clashed, producing a crisp sound. Marissa's heart jumped to her throat. She could no longer see either Adrian or the man, only the dizzying clash of purple and yellow glows. Fortunately, the purple light proved more powerful and soon suppressed the yellow glow. After a few moments, the man screamed, "Aaag

"I’m cruel?" Adrian scoffed. "You lot came here to destroy Medicis Manor. I was simply defending myself."Quinn fell silent. Bucky then came up to them, "Impressive as always, sir! You managed to capture a live one. Please, allow me to interrogate him.”"Sure." Adrian threw Quinn to Bucky. As long as Rozi was safe, everything else was not a problem. He was not scared of these people since they did not even have the guts to face him directly. Bucky looked Quinn up and down, then he was stunned. "Mr. Quinn? What're you doing here?""Let me go and my father will reward you generously," Quinn urged, "He might even give you a place within the Langley family.""Hah!" Buckley sneered, unable to believe that Quinn was trying to bribe him.The last thing Bucky wanted to do was betray Adrian though as he had great confidence in Adrian and was determined to follow him."Thanks but no thanks, Mr. Quinn. I'm just a lowly homeless guy. You treated me like a dog in the past and barely even

Caroline had no choice but to do as Adrian said. After all, she had narrowly escaped death, and she did not want to experience that again. She used to complain about her father a lot, saying he was incapable. She now realized her past was like Heaven compared to the current nightmare she was living in."Okay, I’ll check myself in check," Caroline said softly.Ophelia was surprised. Caroline, usually unruly and never listening to others, readily complied with Adrian. This proved the influence he had on her."Let's go back to our room," Ophelia said, worried that Caroline might cause trouble. "We should get Dr. Claude to tend to your wounds as well.”Caroline was reluctant to leave. She had noticed that Adrian had somehow become younger, and he now reflected the image of her ideal man perfectly. Unfortunately, he did not like her."I want to stay a bit longer,” she whined."Stop fantasizing, girl," Marissa said as she patted Caroline's shoulder. "Adrian’s already married, so it’s u
