Chapter 2079

Author: Celestial Clouds
Lionel said, “I’m sorry to disappoint you, but I’ve already found the antidote. We don’t need the dragon bone any longer. Thanks for your help, I guess?”

Axel shuddered. He found Lionel terribly annoying. He never expected Lionel to be so capable. This fact made Axel furious.

“Go to hell!” Axel shouted.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Though Axel was heavy, he proved pretty agile. He retrieved a sword from his waist and stabbed at Lionel’s throat, showing no mercy. Unfortunately for him, Adrian moved faster than he did.

Adrian had been watching him and knew he was going to attack Lionel. Adrian grabbed hold of Axel’s arm and twisted it, effectively locking him in place.

“You're trying to kill Mr. Lionel?” Adrian stared daggers at Axel. “You’re not worthy.”

Axel remained calm. Since he failed to achieve his goal, he kicked Adrian in an attempt to crush the latter’s chest. He thought he had the upper hand in a close-range fight.

“I’ll kill you since you’re asking for it!” Axel said that viciousl

Axel had lost his confidence. Shaquille had only treasured him because he provided them with many top-tier herbs that could not be bought with money. Now that he was useless, Shaquille would certainly stop protecting him.Overwhelmed with fear, he looked at Claude. “I’m sorry, my dear apprentice. I’ll repent. I won’t do such a thing ever again,” he begged.Adrian was gloating. It was too late for Axel to beg now. He was not about to forgive Axel so easily as the latter had tried to kill him. Axel thought too highly of himself.“Drag him out and hang him on the door,” Adrian commanded, “Anyone who goes against Medicis Manor deserves death.”Claude whispered, “Wouldn’t I seem heartless if I do that?”“We’re being surrounded right now.” Realizing Claude had yet to realize the situation, he said, “Shaquille isn’t an easy man. He’ll attack us, and aren’t you afraid?”Claude shuddered at that threat. He had heard about Shaquille Paxtion—said to be a man who never forgave his enemies. H

Adrian shut his eyes and focused his breath in his lower abdomen as he was instructed. He felt warmth in his palms and soles. He felt as if he was floating on water—like there was a current washing over him.He felt really good!Lionel left quietly. Axel always had his house locked, prohibiting anyone from going in. It proved that he hid treasures inside. Now that Axel was hung at the door, Lionel figured he could check out the place.Fifteen minutes later, someone walked toward the peony bush silently.Marissa, who had been standing watch in the shadows, shouted, “Stop right there!”“Jeez!” The person patted his chest and said guilty, “Oh, it’s you, Marissa. You scared me.”“Why are you here?” Marissa stared at Joe while lifting her blade. She prohibited anyone from getting close to Adrian. “Step back.”Instead of stepping back, Joe went forward. “I’m just curious, Marissa. Calm down.”Adrian opened his eyes and locked eyes with Joe. As if he had seen through Joe, he said cold

“So what?”Adrian knew what he said was working, so he said even more arrogantly, “You might not be able to kill me even if you tried.”This irritated Joe even more. Regret was brewing inside him. He could have brought glory if he had kept his identity as a spy hidden. However, he made such a foolish decision due to greed.“I’m not buying it!” Joe thundered. He did not have time left. There was nothing else that he could do now. He glanced at the study and saw that there was no one inside.Joe decided that was the best direction for him to run in. He sensed someone in there before. Instead of staying to watch or help, that person had left despite something so grave happening. Before he had thought things out, he exerted strength and tried to hit Adrian’s head. All he cared about was crushing Adrian’s head.At that very second, Adrian buried his head in the soil, successfully dodging Joe’s attack. He thought he would not be able to breathe, but to his pleasant surprise, he found

Joe’s eyes rolled back. The poison should not have taken his life immediately, but his anger exacerbated his condition. He died instantly.Marissa was startled. “He’s dead.”“Throw him outside, and remember to wear gloves,” Adrian said indifferently, “I’m sure Shaquille will be here anytime now.”Marissa went looking for Lionel, wanting to borrow his leather gloves.Lionel then came running over, shaking and pale. “Battle Warrior! Axel’s a perverted man! There are several human skeletons in his room. I think they’re his experiments,” he said fearfully.Adrian was shocked. If that was the case, he would not let Axel go. He had to get Axel to explain himself.“Let’s go to the entrance,” Adrian said.“Have you recovered?” Lionel was in disbelief. Adrian just had the poison removed from his body and should need at least six hours of rest.Excited, Adrian said, “I’m back to normal now. I can kill three tigers if I want to.”That did not sound right to Lionel. However, he could only

“Of course not,” Adrian said flatly, “The Four Great Factions can’t just sit back after so many things have happened. Naturally, they’d go after Shaquille. I’m sure he dares not show himself right now.”“That makes sense,” Lionel said, “Allow me to help. As long as Medicis Manor is on the same level as the Four Great Factions, Shaquille won’t dare to touch us.”“But…” Claude looked beaten and sad. “I checked the warehouse, and it’s empty.”“What about the herb field?” Adrian asked, “Medicis Manor will flourish as long as the herbs are growing. Don’t worry.”Lionel looked beaten too as he trailed behind them. He said in disappointment, “The herbs have all wilted. We’re doomed.”“What do we do?” Claude covered his eyes. “Dr. Matteo will be coming for his herbs in a month from now. He’ll never come again if he finds out about our situation.”Adrian fell silent. Claude had been here for a while, so he should be familiar with the processes within Medicis Manor. How had he not noticed

Adrian hesitated. Lionel had gotten Rozi’s condition under control, but she had yet to be fully cured. Adrian had to find the Green Plum Grass and could not stay at Medicis Manor forever.“I will leave eventually,” he mused.“Please help me, Adrian,” Claude begged, “I have to be under Mr. Lionel’s tutelage right now and have no time to manage Medicis Manor.”Adrian did not reply, so Claude continued, “I know you need the Green Plum Grass, and you can only obtain such a precious item by becoming Medicis Manor’s leader.”“All right then.”Adrian agreed to the proposal. However, he knew that he might attract many enemies because of his skin color. His life was about to become a lot more chaotic.Claude was over the moon. “Here, take this.”“What is it?”Adrian studied the silver badge Claude handed him and guessed it was the Medicis Manor leadership symbol. There had been a similar item in Ivory Cloud as well.Claude then secured the badge to Adrian’s belt. “This is the symbol of

Marissa then turned into an eagle and took to the skies after Adrian and Rozi climbed on her back. They glided smoothly toward their destination.Adrian spied the Archer family carriage in the distance. Its wheels were all gone, and he guessed someone with ill intentions must have taken them. However, he did not see any men in black. He did see Ophelia standing outside the carriage, teary-eyed. She kept looking around like she was lost.“Marissa,” Adrian ordered, “Take Arlo and Ophelia away when we get down. I’ll stay with Rozi to fight the men in black.”Marissa smiled mischievously. “Save some for me. I’ll fight them when I get back.”“No, you have to protect them.”Adrian looked solemn. Shaquille was not an easy man. Since he attacked Arlo, he surely would not give up easily.Marissa was disappointed. Adrian was so annoying. He would always get her to hide behind him. She was a brave warrior, so of course, she wanted to charge to the frontline.“This is unfair!” she said.“S

Adrian signaled to Marissa, and she instantly understood. She turned into an eagle and placed Ophelia onto her back. Rozi then kicked Caroline, and the latter flew onto the eagle’s back as well.Adrian was the slowest as he knew Arlo would suffer if there were any sudden movements. He gently placed Arlo onto the eagle’s back. The man in the black who had spoken was furious. “Kill them!”Marissa soared into the sky, keeping as stable as possible. Knowing Arlo’s condition, she slowly flew in a circle to adjust her direction.Suddenly, a roc charged out of the forest and went after Marissa. It shot toward her, attempting to knock her out of the sky.Marissa could not fight back as she had three people on her back. All that she could do was fly in circles to dodge the collision.Adrian this, but just as he was about to attack the roc, the men in black flanked him from two sides.Looking around, Adrian saw that the forest up ahead was empty. “Rozi, let’s hide inside the forest.”Who

Adrian pondered his situation, his cold gaze reflecting simmering frustration. Yet deep down, he recognized that whoever had designed the staircase was far from ordinary.Creating such a formidable trial required unimaginable power.Even a pinnacle Void Stage expert—or perhaps someone of the Multiply Stage—might bow in reverence before the ladder's creator."He won't last much longer.
