Chapter 1994

Author: Celestial Clouds
Diavolo hooked his arm around Adrian's shoulder as they walked together. This made them seem very close, and it made Adrian suspicious. 'Something's definitely going on here,' he thought.

The moment they entered Arlo's home, all of the maids were sent away, while the door was shut tight. Ophelia Puck, Arlo's wife, was the only one left to serve them.

Arlo bowed deeply. "Adrian, I'm truly sorry for earlier. I didn’t want to hide any of this from you, but I had no other choice."

Adrian stepped aside. Although they seemed of similar age, he was actually younger and felt it was inappropriate to accept such a bow.

"What’s going on here?" Adrian asked.

Diavolo sighed. "Sylvas is being a tyrant at the moment. Many of my men in Ivory Cloud are now under his control, and I'm almost sidelined."

"That's none of my business," Adrian retorted, "You two could have joined forces and driven him away, so why put on this charade?"

Arlo quickly explained, "Originally, Ivory Cloud had four elders,

Adrian rolled his eyes. "I'm not part of Ivory Cloud. If I help you against him, it’ll only cause dissatisfaction among the other factions and destabilize Ivory Cloud's position.""Right." Diavolo inhaled deeply, agreeing with Adrian's rationale. "Sylvas is too cunning, and his wife is the daughter of Greenhurst's elder."Arlo fell silent. He had thought Adrian, being of lower status due to his skin color, could be easily used as a pawn and then disposed of after achieving their goals. But Adrian was not falling for it, and Arlo understood he could not afford to make an enemy out of Adrian. Even if they could not be friends, he needed Adrian to have nothing to do with their lives.Diavolo, sipping on his wine, said through clenched teeth, "Let's buy them off then. I refuse to believe that they won't listen to me." He looked at the thousand chrystals on the table and said, "Adrian, I'm currently spread a little thin. Consider this my investment in you. You can have Sylvas' place af

"What’s up with Dieter?""He's poor," Adrian said.Dieter was the leader of Ivory Clouds. If he was going to the kitchen personally, it implied he did not have the money to hire a helper."You should strongly support him to lead a better life,” Adrian added.Arlo's eyes gleamed. "Adrian, not everyone can enter Medicis Manor. How did you become acquainted with someone here?""I just met the person," Adrian said, "You can't really call it friendship."Arlo was a little disappointed. Claude was the most formidable person in Debonaire, and nobody dared to offend him. Even if he was a scammer, everyone had to show him respect."You're lucky that you've become acquainted with such a powerful person. You'll have a good life ahead, and don't forget me when that happens,” Arlo said.It went without saying that Adrian would not forget him. However, there was one thing he did not understand. Claude was someone of high status while he himself was just a nobody. He did not even compare to L

Knock! Knock!Suddenly, there was a hurried knock on the door, and a voice said, "Arlo, open the door."Ophelia turned around and mumbled, "It's not a special day today. Why is she back?"Adrian's intuition was telling him that something bad was about to happen. He quickly stood up, and said, "We've already had our fill. Since your sister is back, we should get going.""Don't go!" Arlor grabbed Adrian's hand. Now was the perfect opportunity to show off, and he certainly would not let it slip by him. "Stay and meet my sister first."Marrisa nodded. "Let's say hello before leaving, Adrian. It won't take long." Rozi looked at Adrian and asked, "Is that okay?""Sure," Adrian said, "Anything you say."Just when Arlo stood up and was about to head outside, a woman rushed in. Her hair was disheveled, her clothes were wrinkled, and her face was covered in tears. When she saw Arlo, she shouted in grievance, "Arlo, I want to divorce Big Mike! That jerk went too far this time!" Arlo wa

When Isabelle saw that Marissa had overpowered her husband, she stopped crying and rushed forward to grab Marissa's hand. "Let go of him!" she shouted, Marissa found Isabelle's behavior perplexing. Isabelle had just stated her desire for a divorce from Big Mike, but now she was begging Marissa to release him. She wondered if they were just putting on an act."Why are you begging on his behalf?" Marrisa asked."Just let him go," Adrian said as he patted Marissa's shoulder. "They're a married couple having a spat. No need to take it seriously. We're just guests, so there's no need for us to get too worked up."Marrisa sighed and let go of Big Mike, who then swiftly kicked Isabelle. She flew backward and collided with various objects before hitting the wall."Mike! Why did you do that?!" Arlo shouted angrily. He pointed at Isabelle, who was writhing in pain on the ground, and said, "She's your wife!""She’s no wife of mine!" Mike spat on the ground. "She has failed to give me a son

Mike was taken aback. He took a few steps back as he stared at Adrian. He was intimidated, but he refused to back down. Maintaining his pretense of arrogance, he snarled, "How dare you threaten me." "Listen up, you scoundrel." Adrian pulled Rozi and Marissa behind him. "You're a disgrace. Didn't your mother teach you to respect women? The way you treat your wife is so cowardly!”Arlo grabbed Adrian and said, "Mike makes excellent pies. Even the Debonaire Syndicate leader enjoys them, so they’re very well acquainted. You shouldn't mess with Mike.""Are you serious?" Adrian pushed Arlo away. "He's taking away your house, and you're not going to do anything about it? No wonder Sylvas dares to bully you."Adrian's words hit Arlo hard. He turned to look at Isabelle, then decided not to endure such humiliation anymore."Big Mike, if I tell Mr. Leeroy that you already have a wife and that you’re cheating on his daughter, what do you think the consequences will be?" Arlo said angrily."

Seeing Adrian’s stern expression, Mike fought through his pain and said, "I swear to God I'll treat Isa well from now on. She's the only one willing to be with me, and I promise I won't betray her!"Rozi commented to Isabelle, "Mike’s jewels are useless now, and he cheated on you too. I think you should leave him.""But what about my children?" Isabelle asked, "They need me."Arlo stamped his feet and said, "Leave this jerk and bring your kids back here. I'll help you raise them!”Mike's face paled. He could not father any more children, so he had to keep his daughters. He grabbed Adrian and said, "Please, I beg you! Please don't take my wife and daughters away from me!" "Don't touch me," Adrian said as he flung Mike away.Mike trembled in pain and let go of Adrian’s arm.Adrian glanced at Rozi and Marrisa. "Our job is done here. It's time to leave."Ophelia warmly saw them off. If it were not for Adrian's help, they would surely have become homeless. "My maiden family lives n

Adrian laughed out loud. He had not expected Kyril to come and attempt to kill them with an outdated weapon like a musket. They were even slower than his sword. "Kyril, you're digging your grave," Adrian said coldly, "Send my regards when you meet the underworld king later." Rozi chuckled. She pulled out a golden pistol that she had brought from her world as a memento.Click! She cocked the pistol, aimed at one of the musketeers’ heads, and pulled the trigger. The bullet went clean through the musketeer's forehead. He swayed for a moment before collapsing on the ground. The other musketeers were stunned. Their hands trembled, and they could barely hold their muskets straight. Adrian seized that moment to leap up and kick their muskets out of their hands. After losing their weapons, the musketeers panicked and fled. Kyril was dumbfounded. He had not expected the tables to turn so quickly. All of his men ran helter-skelter. Not even a single one stayed by his side.Marissa walk

"That’s none of your business!" Lionel shouted as he jumped up from his seat.He wondered what was taking Adrian and the others so long. "I'm going out for some fresh air," he said. Claude was in a difficult position. Both of these people were his masters, so he hoped that they could get along peacefully. However, Lionel had a peculiar temper."Mr. Lionel!"When Claude came out, Lionel was taking a stroll in the courtyard. He breathed in the aroma of the herbs and felt rejuvenated."It smells good!" Lionel said.Just then, an elderly woman came over. She glanced at Lionel disdainfully and commented, "Oh my, the stench from this beggar is unbearable." Suddenly, an idea popped into Claude's mind. The elderly woman was named May and had always been responsible for taking care of him. She had recently been complaining of feeling unwell, but he could not figure out what was wrong with her."Mr. Lionel, will you please help me treat May?”"No," Lionel said. He could sense the co
