Chapter 1128

Author: Celestial Clouds
Gloria nodded. “My genes and cells were modified by the meteorite on the island. I have no other intention than to live. I want to live for my sister and all those who love me.”

“What do you think, Lacey? Can she be cured? Give me a definite answer. We’ve traveled a long way to get here, and we didn’t come here to be met with your arrogance. If we weren’t at a dead end, would War Legate Draco beg you for help?” Mya said to Lacey.

After a few moments of silence, Lacey looked at Adrian and said, “I’m aware of Gloria’s condition. Nick told me that you’d be coming but I refused to believe it. I didn’t expect you to actually show up.”

“Who’s Nick?” Adrian was puzzled.

Lacey said, “He’s my fellow apprentice, and his name is Nicholas Frost. We studied Gloria’s condition but we never expected that you’d find your way here. Nick is the only person who can treat Gloria.”

Upon hearing this, Adrian walked up to Lacey. He asked, “Where is Nicholas? Take me to him.”

Adrian could tell that Lacey was very proud of her fellow apprentice from the way she talked about him. It was as if Nicholas was the only important thing in her life. He figured that it was love.“Lacey, you say that Nicholas will be back in five days, but you also said Gloria won’t last five days. What are we supposed to do then?” Adrian asked out of worry for Gloria.Lacey made her way to Gloria and took hold of Gloria’s hand. She then checked Gloria’s eyes. After a while, she turned around and said to Adrian, “Nick left me with a way to relieve Gloria’s symptoms before he left. I’ll be treating her for the next five days. Nick will be back by then with the antidote.”Adrian was extremely surprised. He never expected someone could come up with such a thorough plan. He could tell that the apprentice named Nicholas was very confident in himself. Moreover, he was very mysterious. Adrian said, “Your fellow apprentice must be very impressive. What else did he tell you?”Lacey said,

Meanwhile, Hayden said, “Ms. Gloria, Ms. Mia, Lacey is famous around here. She’s known in Bortuton for her good character and the locals love her very much. They would send her heaps of gifts during festivities.”“Is she really all that?” Gloria was astonished. Hayden nodded. “She’s the one who cures most of Bortuton’s ill and sick. On top of that, her charges are low and she refuses to take a penny from the poor. Her generosity is what she’s known for.”Mya tutted and said, “I would never have guessed that such an arrogant and cold woman is actually so kind. Fine, I’ll close an eye to her flaws.”Gloria beamed in response. Half an hour later, Lacey led the group out of the forest. Adrian’s group spent more than an hour on their trek into the forest. With Lacy leading the way, the trek out was shortened by half an hour. There was a pink car parked by the roadside—clearly Lacey’s car. The moment they stepped out of the forest, she said to Adrian, “We’re going to Bortuton.”Adri

Bortuguesa was a paradise. The country was in harmony with the earth and self-sufficient, and the people here were sincere and diligent. As Gloria gazed at the quiet city in the distance, she said enviously, “Bortuton is amazing. Its environment is wonderful and the locals are great too.”“Bortuton’s local delicacies are amazing too. I’ll take you to try some tonight,” said Hayden smilingly.Lacey drove into the city as they chatted, and Hayden followed closely. After about ten minutes, Lacey stopped in front of a clinic and got out of the car.Hayden parked the car and said, “We’re here.”Adrian and the others quickly got out and went up to Lacey. When Lacey entered the clinic, two nineteen-year-old Bortuguesan greeted her, “Ms. Lacey, you’re back.”She nodded and said to the two young men, “Jose, Adao, have you prepared the room as I’ve told you to? Our guests are here.”Jose and Adao nodded and said, “Yes, it’s all ready.”“Great.” Lacey walked further into the clinic. A

Lacey replied, “He’s mentally shaken due to extreme fear. In simpler terms, he’s frightened. But don’t worry, he’ll be fine in a few days.”“Thank you so much, Dr. Lacey,” the woman said gratefully.Lacey smiled at the woman.Nearby, Gloria turned to Adrian and said, “Lacey’s medical skills are impressive. She managed to determine the cause and provide a diagnosis so quickly.”Adrian said, “Yes. She has mastered the essence of Traditional Navian Medicine. Doctors of the past would need to perform an assessment and make careful observations just to come up with a diagnosis. Looks like Nicholas truly has qualities that are worthy of her pride.”“Does that mean there’s hope for me?” said Gloria with a smile. Adrian nodded.Lacey walked back to them and said to Adrian, “I’ve already instructed the pharmacist to prepare two rooms for you guys. You may stay here until Nick gets back with the antidote and is able to treat Gloria.”She then turned to Gloria. “For the next few days, I’

It was unbelievable. Truly unbelievable. Adrian’s desire to meet this Medical Saint grew at this moment. He did not mind about Nicholas possessing a piece of the meteorite, of course. He then followed Jose to the back of the clinic where two rooms had already been cleaned up for guests.Jose showed Adrian and the others to the rooms and said, “Dear guests, this is where you’ll be staying. There are two rooms here. Please make yourself at home.”“Thank you, Jose,” said Adrian with a smile. Jose nodded. “Not a problem. You’re our guests. Come to me if you need anything, anytime. I live here too.”Gloria said smilingly, “Thank you so much.”Jose left them to it.Mya plopped onto one of the beds and dangled her legs over the side. She said to Hayden, “Hey, take a room for yourself. I’ll bunk with Gloria.”Hayden scratched his head. “I won’t be staying, Ms. Mya. You guys go ahead and have a good stay. I’ll make some arrangements for you to taste the local delicacies tonight.”“

The three of them ate in the room and rested after they were done. Lacey knocked on the door at about six o’clock “Are you ready, Gloria? Let’s begin your treatment.” Lacey walked into the room. Gloria inhaled a deep breath. Adrian asked, “Will the process be painful?”Lacey answered, “I’d be lying if I said the treatment will be painless, but it won’t be as painful as you imagine it to be. There will be some slight burning sensations, but I believe Gloria will be able to withstand it.”Gloria nodded. “I’m ready. Let’s begin, Lacey.”“Follow me, everyone,” said Lacey. She walked out of the room and led the way through the clinic. The place was made up of a long corridor with different dispensaries and storage rooms on both sides. They walked to the end of the corridor and found a room. Lacey opened the door and walked in.Adrian and Mya stopped outside. Mya said to Gloria, “Stay strong. You’re going to be fine. Just bear with it and it’ll pass. Good luck.”Gloria nodded and

After about ten minutes of soaking, Gloria’s body adapted to the temperature, and the burning sensation from earlier vanished. She felt as if the medicinal herbs in the bath were seeping into her body through her pores. Then, she noticed she was very relaxed. Gloria’s face was flushed but she felt as if a weight had been lifted off her. Next to her, Lacey was making preparations. She did not speak but would check on Gloria occasionally. About half an hour later, Lacey asked, “How do you feel? How’s the temperature?”Gloria answered, “Not as hot as before.”Lacey beckoned at Adrian and said, “Add more hot water.”Adrian lifted up a pot of hot water that he poured into the tub. The process repeated in this manner for about two hours. Meanwhile, Lacey prepared a fresh tub, pouring in some newly-brewed medicinal herbs. The concoction in this new tub was different from the first one. Lacey hastily said, “Come, get into this. It might hurt, but it’s normal and nothing to worry about

Gloria said, “I hope I can be like you guys. Lacey, will I be able to have children if I’m cured? Will there be any side effects that will affect my bodily functions?”Lacey said, “There will be, and will need two to three years to recover. When you’re fully healed, you can have children, of course. But there is no absolute in everything. We’ll have to wait and see if Nick manages to bring the antidote for you.”Gloria was pleased to hear just still. She smiled at Lacey and said, “Thank you so much. I’m grateful to all of you regardless if I’m cured or not.”Lacey said, “Nick wouldn’t be helping you if you didn’t sacrifice yourself for Navia. He’s traveling to the most dangerous ice cave in Shangland just to find you an antidote. Not even scientists would go to the place.”“Is he at Mount Shangspar?” Adrian asked. Lacey raised her head and glanced at Adrian. “So you know of Mount Shangspar. It’s the coldest place on earth. Nick is traveling to the deepest part of it in search of
