At Laura's House

They were silent throughout their journey back. They got into the house that she likened to a dog house a few minutes ago and sat down. Her anguish increased when she compared it with the houses in the estate.

Nevertheless, Pa Dickson wished that it could be a dream and he would soon wake up to reality.

“I thought the birthday boy gave him a job? Why is he with the government?” Laura asked after she found her bearings.

To her despondency, her parents were lost in their different thoughts that they did not hear her.

After a long silence, her father drew a long breath and said, “This is strange. No wonder he has a handset.”

“Huh! Is that all you saw? Can't you see that he owns a car and a driver?”

“A military car at that,” Laura chipped in.

“That is true. I think he is the person in charge. Otherwise, he wouldn't have a driver.”

“You are right, Dad. But how did they trace our house? Who directed them?”

“It baffles me. If only we knew that birthday celebrant, we woul

After he walked away, Samuel faced Tim and asked, “What about Fabian? Is he not working here again?”“Not at all. He preferred to go into entertainment.”“Ha! That had been his heart's desire.”“Yes. After performing at your birthday, he was spotted by a producer who signed a contract with him.”“Wow! I'm happy for him.”The old man was excited to hear that and appreciated what Samuel did for humanity the more. He tapped his back and said, “You don't know what you did for them. Their unborn generations will benefit from this.”“Yes,” Tim looked at him and said.“I'm glad that I was able to help.”Shortly, Valentine and Pa Suresh arrived. He was so happy to see Samuel whom he hardly recognized. Despite his work clothes, he walked up to him and hugged him.“I'm so happy too, see you, Samuel,” he looked into his eyes and said.“I'm delighted to see you too. I can see that you are adjusting to work?”“Yes. I have adjusted. Thank you once again for saving us from poverty.”“It is good tha

“Oh my God! You proposed that I should shift my birthday from Saturday to Monday. Now you have forgotten.”“Oh, my goodness! Pardon my forgetfulness, Your Majesty. Happy birthday in advance.”“Thank you for your wishes. But promise me that you will be around on Monday.”“A slave has no time of his own and cannot make promises with it. I will be around if my boss permits me.”“Oh! I remember.”“Goodbye for now.”“Bye,” they said simultaneously. He walked into the elevator and sent a message to George.(We can continue the speech writing at home. I'm starving). The message confused George because he could not say why he just arrived and started complaining of hunger. All the same, he replied, (I got it.)At Smirnoff's Office Everything was going smoothly and the preparations for the celebration were on top gear. Although he was not shortlisted for promotion he had his pound of flesh. Throwing the Head of State and the nation into turbulence made his day.“At least he was restless for s

He looked at the directions of the Archbishop and his team of bishops and clergymen. In the same vein, he looked at the Chief Judge and his team and they were smiling.Nevertheless, he continued his speech by enumerating the achievements of the company since the new President took over and the audience was thrilled.“Finally, it may interest you to know that we discovered The Blue Diamond, a rare precious stone in Canterbury…”The audience interrupted him and began to murmur, “Ha!”“Wow!”“The Blue Diamond in Canterbury!”“This is splendid.”“Very impressive.”Afterward, he continued, “That is the icing on the cake. The country has never experienced such in her history and we return all the glory to God.”“Amen,” they chorused.“Finally, with your prayers and support, we promise to do more. The Canterbury Heroes Borough and the Steel Mill will be ready before the half of the coming year. Thank you for listening,” he concluded and carefully avoided the defeat of Gen. Hanklin of South C

The old man was beautifully dressed for the celebration, and people like Ella would not recognize him because he looked younger and healthier. He got up and they walked to the podium while the audience looked on in awe. The Head of State smiled and said, “Welcome to the podium again Mr. Young.”“Thank you, Your Excellency,” he looked into his eyes and said.George furrowed his brow and looked on in wonderment while the Head of State continued, “Canterbury wished to recognize you for a specific deed. In less than a year, the brave son you gave to us has served Canterbury gallantly. Through him, we conquered nations. He administered justice where necessary. We can also say that he shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword. His youth, which would have been his weakness, was turned to strength. He became powerful in battle and destroyed foreign armies and enemies.”He stopped when the clapping ovation was louder than his Mic. Therefore,

“Oh! I did not see it that way. We should do something different from Oliver's regime. I will invite the Head of State or his representative to the celebration,” the fake Duke said.“Yes. We will use part of it for the celebration,” Elder Kefas stated. They wallowed in fools' paradise and they were happy to arrive at a consensus. At Tim's House They returned home happily and the old man was emotional. He looked at Tim and poured out his mind, “I would have been dead by now if not for you, Young man.”George, who was about to walk to his room, was touched and stopped in his tracks. He faced Tim and waited for his response.“Think nothing about it, Old man. We would all have been dead,” he said and faced Samuel.Samuel was emotional, too, but he smiled dryly and rested his head on Tim's chest. “My goodness. Mine was in October. I should have informed him so that he would return the gesture,” Bright teased.“Too bad. That will be in the coming year. I called you to plan it out. How will he surprise her?”“Does he have any gift for her?”“Yes. One of them is a cake. I will give you the contact of an attendant in the mall. You can ask her to deliver it.”“I see. Leave the planning for me. I will inform the General Manager and he will keep her busy until we are set.”“That is good. One more thing. I don't want the former secretary to be part of the celebration. You know the feud between them.”Bright smiled slyly and said, “I got it, Boss. I know what to do to her.”“I trust you. I want a seamless job.”“You can count on me, Boss. Congratulations once again on your well-deserved promotion,” he said sincerely.“Thank you for the compliment. Kindly share the pictures and videos with me.”“I will do that after editing them.”“That is good to hear. Thank you for always covering my

“I'm here, Secretary,” he said when he got to the office.“That's good. I called you because …,” he explained. The clerk smiled happily and asked him, “What do you want me to do?”“Let's go. The cake will arrive soon.”“It is all right.”They got to the lobby and Bright gave Laura a hateful look. He smiled at Barbara and requested, “Kindly come with me, Barbara.”“Oh!” She exclaimed, got up from her seat, and adjusted her wears. Laura could not look at them but kept herself busy with her phone. When Barbara was set, she joined them and they moved. Nobody was surprised when she looked at them with an unreadable expression until they walked out of the door.Within her, she wished to be like Barbara who could relate freely with everyone.“Where are we going, Secretary?” Barbara asked.“To the canteen,” he explained and moved on.Instantly, his phone rang and it was the attendant. He stopped in his tracks and picked up the call. The two stopped, too, and waited for him.“Hello.”“Hello,

At The Canteen After the clerk left to get Stephanie, Tim walked back to his car which he parked at a vantage point so that he could see through the canteen's transparent glass window. He smiled heartily when he saw her walking with the two.“Oh, my God! She is pretty,” he said to himself.Meanwhile, George and the other managers had recovered from the shock of the decorations and were sitting on their seats. Samuel was with Bright and taking instructions from him. On the other hand, Bright had informed Barbara that she must work closely with him and return to her office after the celebration.“Ha! Miss Dickson will be mad at me if I fail to return on time,” she made clear.“Tell her that I delayed you,” he undertook for her, and she was calm.Meanwhile, the General Manager and clerk walked Stephanie to the door like a father who walked her daughter through the aisle on her wedding day. Stephanie glared at Bright and said, “You have done your worst. Right?”The GM overlooked her bic

To their chagrin, Bright and his friend, Ted were waiting along with Collins. They saluted the Second in Command and the Minister accordingly and they returned the salute.Kay asked the General Manager, "Why have you not closed?""I can't close when my president has not," he answered him sincerely. He was pleased with him. He looked around and saw over two hundred staff members waiting for him. He concluded that George must be a good leader to attract such a gesture. He was on lunch when he saw George's trip. He dropped his cutlery and focused on the television. His joy escalated when he saw him granting an interview to the pressmen. He was engrossed in the television and did not know that Collins had driven into the courtyard. Before Ella walked in, the news was over, and he was surprised to see her.She was surprised to see him in such a happy mood. She walked up to him, crossed her hand on his shoulder, and kissed his temple."Welcome back, my love," he greeted her warmly. She sat down opposite him, studied his face for a clue, and answered him, "Thank you, dear. How was your day?""My day was fine. And yours?""Fine," she answered him."How did you come back?""Good afternoon, Old man," Collins greeted him."Ha! Good afternoon, Collins. All the same, he was happy that he cheered Bright up.Laura whose embargo on eating in the canteen would end that day, was eating in the lobby. She was ashamed of herself when she saw George's confidence. She focused on the television with her mouth agape."What is giving this boy so much confidence? Could he be the Third in Command and the President as Dad said?" She mulled over. The thought that George could be her president weakened her and stole her appetite."How will I get a husband to marry? All my efforts are failing," she said in despair. Now, she lost her appetite, stopped eating, and covered her flask. To keep herself busy until the break was over, she picked up her phone. She was not surprised when George's story popped up and grimaced. She read the comments by some ladies about George and was jealous."Imagine that? What about us?" She asked herself. At The Dome Vincent woke up and was idle - the lifestyle he hated most. Previously, he would have been on the road and wou

At Raino Airport The team landed after seven hours. They looked at the General, who was sleeping soundly, and wondered what to do."I can wake him up," Richard volunteered and did.George got out of the aircraft by walking confidently down the staircase followed by Jerry and Silas. At that point, many media houses had their beam lights on him. After them, the next person they saw was a disheveled Gen. Anderson, who was in cuffs. Richard guided him until he stepped on the last staircase. Tim got out, too, and adjusted his cross bag.George led them until they got to the tarmac. Before Gen. Anderson crossed, Richard unlocked the cuffs and retrieved them. He gave him an arm salute and as usual, he ignored him. Before they could turn, a Raino soldier cuffed him at once. The reporters were disappointed. They thought they would walk to the lobby and grant them an interview. Since they did not, they ran after them. When they caught up with him, they began their interview, "Welcome to Rai

At The Canterbury Defense Academy The cadets were in the mess room having their breakfast when they were watching the broadcast. Gerald and Samuel became cold at once but concealed it. Although they were still with their phones, they could not call Tim or George for fear of being reprimanded for disturbing them. Gerald ate his food as though he was not disturbed. Afterward, he walked to Samuel's section and met him staring at his food and lost in thought. Despite that, he would do nothing; his presence could assuage his anxieties. "Eat your food," he encouraged him.Samuel was startled by his voice and looked up. He smiled dryly when he saw him and said, "Okay."He watched him as he finished his food and got up.Now, everyone was out of the mess room and walking to their classrooms. It was time to speak on the broadcast."Maj. Young would have separated his head from his neck. Foolish man.""I don't know why they hate us.""What was the driver's offense?""I wish I knew. At Tim's House George can take everything but not coming home and not meeting Tim. His countenance changed when Collins stopped in front of the foyer and he got out of the car. They saluted him accordingly and he returned the salute. He walked into the parlor and was disturbed by a message. He checked out for the sender and sat down when he noticed that it was from his father. He punched the message and smiled when he saw the picture of the car."Beautiful," he said and admired it.He read the message and was happy with their progress."Wow! He has spoken with his parents-in-law. That is good," he pointed out.He vacillated over calling Tim to find out his whereabouts."He may be too busy, and I don't want to disturb him," he said, got up, and headed to his room. After changing his clothes, he laid on the bed for a nap. He woke up a few minutes before 6 PM and concluded that he was back. He was about to leave his room when he got a call from him. He picked it up anxiously and greet
