Megan stretched awake as she felt the bright rays of sunlight hit her face from behind her closed lashes.

Groaning, she opened her eyes, shocked to see Rosetta and Briana already awake and in her room talking in hushed tones.

This had never happened before, no one rose earlier than the queen, but she guessed came with a lot of limitations, and for a moment she was unsure how to proceed. They seemed busy.

“Oh my, my lady you are awake!” A shrill voice shook Megan from her thoughts and she looked up to see Rosetta running towards her with bright eyes.

“Good morning my lady.” Brianna greeted with a softer tone and an even softer smile.

“This is the first time the sun has woken before me.” Megan laughed lightly, as she stood up and allowed Rosetta to drape a silk robe over her.

“For a moment I was unsure on how to act.” Megan grinned, and the smile was similar to a school girl's grin which was something her ladies had never seen before, and they looked at each other in delight.

Turned out that Rhode's idea of a thrill was to go scavenging in the woods as he liked to call it, and Megan suppressed the smile that threatened to overtake her face.“You have to hurry my lady!” Rhode looked behind him to tell as he noticed that she was not beside him, and she rolled her eyes.“I have never done this before.” Megan confessed as they moved further away from the palace and deeper into the woods.Rhode turned to look at her with a laugh and Megan scowled.“Don't frown sweetheart.” He chuckled as he stretched back his hands for her to grab unto and she only hesitated for a moment before latching on with a grin.“You are the Alpha now, I'm not sure you can do this.” Megan frowned again, concern for him coating her words like honey, and Rhode could not be happier to hear them, she cared for him. He grinnedMegan recalled all her years back home, and how the only thing she was truly free to do that was not associated with royalty was to tend to her garden and as a result,

They are Elves.” Rhode laughed at her shock before moving backwards a few steps and stretching his arms.“Welcome to Wosgaria! A little Kingdom of beauty, magic and Elves. And oh, they belong to my family.” He ended and Megan's eyes grew to thrice its original size.“B_but Wosgaria is said to be lost. How can this be?” She asked in awe and he shrugged.“After the great war of Alphas years back, many other species were affected by the rampaging of lands and their lives were not spared. So that is how the whole lost Kingdom thing came about. The Elves were Thought to have died off but they simply went into hiding because the blood in their veins made them a target.” He explained as Megan listened intently, watching as the Elves continuously poured magic into the ground to rejuvenate the earth.“This is so fascinating.” She breathed, moving slowly, almost wishing for the time to freeze so that she could be in that moment forever.“But they are not normal Elves, are they?” Megan asked cur

Richardson had been going restless for the past few days, frankly he had been restless since Megan broke his heart. The wench had left him, and knowing deep inside that Rhode might be a better option was a bitter pill to swallow.“Alpha, what are we going to do?” The sound of his adviser dragged him back to reality and Richardson saw the beady eyes of the council members gleaming at him with more than a little disdain and suspicion.“Alpha, are you alright?” The voice asked again, and Richardson felt the beginning of a cold sweat breaking across his forehead and gliding smoothly down his back as he clenched the armrest of his seat and forced himself to stay calm.“I_i am quite alright.” He managed to stammer as his heart ached for Megan with every fiber of his being. If she was there she would have handled everything, cut down every hint of chaos and disharmony, and brought their heads to him on a silver platter for him to judge their sins, she was amazing. Not that this sudden epipha

Megan stared at the blood red eyes in front of her with panic. She had never been in such a situation before, and for her first time she was pregnant. It was a complete disadvantage, but she knew the bloodthirsty wolf in front of her did not particularly care about her current state. She even suspected that it was a meal he would particularly enjoy, and bile rose in her throat.“The traitorous queen of the West.” He murmured as he slowly changed back into his human form, standing naked before Megan and she forced herself not to avert her gaze for the sake of decency.“I am no traitor and I'm not your queen.” Megan answered stiffly and the man laughed a deranged laugh. “But you are our queen. You see, you never should have left. Being with that man has condemned you to death.” He grinned, his claws elongating before her eyes.“It will be a complete shame to rip a beautiful woman like you apart in my beast form, at least like this I get to enjoy some certain thrills.” He ended, his eye

“Rhode!” Megan screamed as she hurriedly brushed through the masses of dead bodies and thick bush of the forest, she had to get to him fast.“Megan, stay where you are, don't move.” Rhode mindlinked, causing Megan to halt. She had no choice but to listen to him, strange things were occurring all around her, and she was confused.“Megan! There you are!” A relieved voice exclaimed to her right and Megan turned around with great relief to see Rhode running towards her, and he was alright, no limbs missing! “I have been trying to reach you!” Megan cried and as soon as she was close enough, she stretched out a hand to hit him on the chest, so angry with relief.“I am sorry.” Rhode apologized, doing nothing but letting her hit him, and hit him as she pleased.“I am sorry.” He repeated again, causing Megan to pause her assault as she stared up at him with worry in her large brown eyes.“You are not saying anything else, what's wrong with you?” She asked frantically. “Are you hurt, injured?”

He suddenly came to a halt and Megan's tear filled eyes widened.“W_what are you doing?” She asked as she stared at him. Quickly putting her down gently on her feet, Rhode elongated in front of her with a roar and changed to his wolf form. And for a moment the simple majesty of his wolf momentarily distracted Megan from her pain.He was magnificent, about seven feet tall and as broad. As silvery white as the moon with a mark of the crescent right underneath its purple eyes.Walking before her, he allowed his body to lower itself to the ground for Megan to be able to climb on.Understanding what he meant to do, Megan's eyes swelled in gratitude. Wolves were always going to be faster in their animalistic form than their human one, so she knew that what he just did was a way to warm her heart and reassure her and she softened at the thought before accepting.Holding on to the smoothly rich fur of the wolf as a leverage, she swung herself over to his back he took off in a sprint, faster

  • The Remarried Luna   Chapter 68

Brian had never known that seeing a person cry could hurt more than having his own stomach pierced and his limbs removed, he had never thought that it was possible to want to go on a rampage and kill whatever was causing that person's tears. Frankly to say, he was never a romantic person, too stoic and practical in his ways, he believed romance to be an imaginative paperback created by an idealist. And that was precisely the reason why his arms seemed to freeze as they hovered above the sobbing woman that seemed to think it was a good idea to launch herself into his arms.As she cried out her troubles and whimpered into his chest, his rage mounted with every quivering breath that escaped her delectably plump lips.“It's okay darlin, it's not your fault.” He tried to say calmly, he was after all ill experienced with situations like this. But for some reason, her sobs seemed to heighten as she completely sagged against him and he had to brace and support both of them.“Shit! I forgot wh

Aspen was beside herself, she had been waiting for feedback from the rogue mercenary group she had hired to do her dirty job, but there was nothing from them, she could not reach them and they were obviously not reaching out to her.She was becoming more and more paranoid as the hours went by, it was a pretty simple plan really. Kill Megan and if possible that bastard husband of her’s as well, but if that was not possible then they were advised to withdraw right after attacking Megan.“Ah!” She yelled as she paced the length of her room uneasily. There were various scenarios running through her head, what if Megan was not dead though, what if the stupid rogues made a mistake that implicated her? What if the East were gearing up to war with the West just because of her?She shuddered at the thought. She knew Richardson would not hesitate to throw her to the wolves literally if it would prevent him from going to war, the coward, Megan raged.“My lady.” A maid stepped inside, causing th

Megan smiled at the knitting thread in her hands that had begun to form something that was a cross between a sock and a skirt? Oh well, she had not expected to be perfect anyways. She was never the knitting or crocheting type, preferring to wage wars with a pen and usurp kingdoms. Plan coups and displace rulers. But for the first time in her life, she was seated in a rocking chair with two needles in her hands as she tried to spurn the perfect dress or scarf for her precious baby.“This is quite the sight.” Rosetta laughed as she strolled in with a basket under her arm and sunflowers in her hair. And Megan lightened up instantly.“Rose, come and take a look at this!” She ordered in excitement, and Rosetta dropped the basket of laundry she was holding and hurried over.“Well?! What do you think?” She demanded, and Rose made an expression that was a cross between a wince and a grimace.“Err, it's a very nice head warmer?” Rosetta asked cautiously as she stared at the strange item and Me

Admittedly, due to his friendship with Rhode, and knowing him so well, it had been hard for Brian to transition from best friend to subordinate. In fact, he had been ready for the friendship itself to end as Rhode would undoubtedly have more influential people to mix with, but to his surprise, he was held tightly by his friend. Metaphorically speaking of course. So due to those factors as well as some important ones, he had forgotten what his friend was truly capable of, but in moments like this, he tended to remember. He had only seen Rhode use what they had come to know as the imperial sway once, and even then was nothing compared to what Brian was witnessing. The council members were now on their knees as they writhed and pleaded for mercy, but he could see from his friend's eyes that he had none to give them. To his relief however, Rhode had exempted him from the turmoil discreetly, so Brian raised a hand to his bleeding nose, as he wiped it, and gave a reassuring nod to his frie

Rhode could not contain his anger when he woke up the next morning. He had stirred up to find himself in Brian's bed, and that was not the only unflattering thing that happened. He could still feel the bitter residue of whatever drug he had unknowingly consumed the night before, and knew, without anyone telling him, that the drug must have been potent. And what's worse? He could still feel the weakness in his bones that came from denying his body what it had been forced to desire last night. Doing that had only been through sheer force of will, as was everything he did, but oh was he pissed off.He knew the gist of what had happened by now, his own court members, or one of them at least had dared to poison him, and he knew without the doubt that if he had stayed in his room last night, he would have been violated, but the court would not have seen it that way, and would have demanded that he took responsibility for the cursed woman. He knew everything, and that was precisely why he co

Aspen, although severely ungrateful with her lot in life, had never truly suffered in any way, at least not to the people around her, although that opinion would soon change when the western kingdom got wind of her less than pure movement.Richardson had been quick to dispel the rumors and dismissed everyone, but even his kingly presence, note the sarcasm, was not enough to rid the accusations from the people's minds and seal their lips.As a result, she had been extra careful not to go outside, partly because everybody seemed to look at her like a murderer, e.g the servants and ladies maids, but also because of the appearance of Duke Elric. She had seen the way Richardson went pale at the sight of him, and had begun to question if making a deal with such a man was wise at all. But it was too late now, she was already indebted to him, and he held the secrets that could bring her to ruin at the tip of his untrustworthy tongue.“Aspen!” Richardson barked as he slammed the door to her ch

Megan frowned as she stared at Rhode's face, and that was the moment something was not quite right with the Alpha. Why, sweats were dotting his forehead and he looked positively flushed, she wondered if he had too much wine. But it was more than that, wasn't it? Right from when Lord Fuhler and Aldrien seemed to want Rhode to stay back, but the friendly man she had met before had battled for the opposite.“I wonder if he is alright.” She murmured to herself, but the woman sitting beside her seemed to have no qualms for manners as she blatantly listened in, and turned to Megan.“Perhaps you should verify.” She said so softly and quickly that Megan was left to wonder if she had imagined the soft whisper.“You know something.” Megan turned to her with an accusing look, but she simply busied herself with cutleries as she ignored Megan and casted graceful smiles to everyone in the room instead, the picture perfect queen, but Megan was too in her head to put her properly in her place.Someth

Rhode sipped the wine sitting in front of him in an effort to clear the strange feeling in his throat. He had no idea what was going on, only thing he knew was that he had started to tune out the conversation slash confrontation going on around the table.Tried as hard as he might, he just could no longer pay attention to Megan, he was beginning to harbor a terrible kind of suspicion.“Alpha,” Brian concerned voice shook him a little from his stupor, but for some reason it felt like Brian was yelling at him from a place he could not quite reach, under the ocean perhaps.“Brian?” Rhode whispered, something was quite wrong, but he could not pinpoint what it was. His hands shook as he tried to pick up the knife in front of him.“I am here Alpha, what is going on?” Brian asked behind him, he could hear the muted panic in his voice. Brian was worried, and that informed the strangely inebriated Rhode that perhaps he should be worried too.“I feel drunk.” He confessed slowly to his best frie

Mirabel hurried towards the dining room, she needed to talk to her father physically, to put an end to his craziness. If Rhode finds out what she did to him then it would be well within his rights to put her to death, and no one would bat an eye, people have been condemned for less. She needed to speak sense into her dad, he was becoming too reckless with his ambition and it would result in tragedy, Mirabel was sure of it.Her dad wanted the throne, he had coveted the position of Alpha for a very long time, and Mirabel knew that from a very tender age he had viewed his daughter as a stepping stone to his great ambition, but this had gone too far.“My lady, you have not gone to the dining area since Alpha Micheal, why are you doing so now?” Rose asked with apprehension as she led the way to her father, and Mirabel grimaced.“As much as I don't want to see the People, I want to die even less.” Mirabel answered with a wry smile. She was not afraid of dying, far from it. She was afraid of

“The cheek of that woman!” Rosetta gritted angrily as she paced in Megan's suit, and Megan shrugged, biting her lips in deep thought. Mirabel Fuhler, the dethroned queen. She had the perfect motive for vengeance, didn't she? But yet, Megan could not help but feel like she was missing a very important part of the puzzle. There was a chasm when it came to Mirabel. If Rhode was to be believed, then his claim that Mirabel had been the perfect wife to his brother should be believed too, right? If she had been faithful and loving to the late Alpha, then there would be no reason for her to wish to jump the wagon so soon. Something was definitely fishy, and Megan was determined to find out what it was. The former had been silent since her arrival to the palace, she had ignored the whispers about being dethroned that floated around the court like smoke. She had been perfectly polite when they met, so why on earth would she do something like this? It just did not make any sense. Unless she wa

Mirabel had only said what she did as a joke, but seeing the stiffening figures before she could not help but wonder if she was right after all, and if so, what exactly was she right about?Megan was a very intelligent woman, she was formidable as well, with the dangerous ability to sniff out enemies from wherever they were hiding. Now while Mirabel herself might not have had anything to do with Megan's incident, thus absolving her of guilt, but she could not say the same for her ambitious father, and that made her want to creep into Megan's mind, to see if she had come to the same conclusion, and to snuff her out if she had to. It was her duty to protect the Fuhlers name, and she could not let anyone that might proof to be a danger to said name, walk around freely. But she was finally evenly matched, she could see the intelligence in Megan's eyes, and the cunning of her smile, she could not be caught off guard before such a woman, she needed her wits about her.So she had said what s
