Chapter Forty-Four: Bounty Reward

Avery's POV

I ran through the woods, my feet pounding against the earth as I desperately tried to put as much distance between myself and the Pack as possible. I had been running for what felt like hours, but I knew I couldn't stop yet. Not until I was sure I was safe.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I realized that I was no longer in the Pack's territory. I slowed to a stop, throwing my head back and letting out a deep breath as I tried to rest. The sun was already bright overhead, casting dappled shadows across the forest floor.

I looked around, taking in my surroundings. I was alone, surrounded by nothing but trees and underbrush. I felt a pang of fear, but I pushed it aside. I had to keep moving.
