Martinez's POV

I was alerted to her statement. I won't say I was actually scared, maybe I am scared. I mean why would she make such a statement? Does she know me? Or is there in any way we have met before.

She chuckled and I wondered why she was laughing at me. "Oh my goodness! You should look at your face." I blurted out.

I think she was actually finding this funny. I forced myself to smile so she wouldn't notice how scared I was.

"Please don't tell me you were scared." She said, covering her mouth with one hand as she tried to hold herself from laughing out loud.

"I'm sorry, but if you don't mind me asking," she added with a pretty smile on her lips.

"What did you think I mean when I said that?" She asked and I nodded my head.

"When you said 'I have finally found my prey' you kinda sounded weird." I admitted. "Are you in for a hint or something? And by the way, why were you so curious to know what I am?" I asked, letting of the lot of questions in my head as i couldn't hold it back

Martinez's POVMy protective nature flared up when Lewis dared to compliment Sofia, causing a storm of anger to brew within him. I believe that i alone should be the one showering her with admiration and appreciation, and the audacity of Lewis to encroach her in his territory fueled my fury. The words Lewis spoke, intended as innocent flattery, stung me to the core, awakening a possessiveness i hadn't known existed."What do you mean by that?" I flared up, his eyes holding jealousy and anger."What about it? When has it become a crime to admit what's good? Whether or not you have anything to do with your pretty lovely friend, had nothing to do with how much I admire her. So, if you've got a problem with it, go kiss the ground." Lewis said."You can't walk in here and say things because you've got the mouth to say them!" I said in reply."That's exactly why I've got the mouth. To say things that ought to be said. Got a problem with that too?" Lewis asked me."You know what, mind your

Martinez's POV. I stared at her in shock. I blinked at her but she kept gazing blankly at me. I burst into laughter and held her hands. "I know you are joking right, Sofia?" I questioned with a shaky smile on my lips. She still had the same look of ignorance on her face, she truly didn't know me or was she playing a trick on me. I knew that Sofia was not a person who would play games or act unnecessarily. She slowly adjusted herself and looked around the room. "You really don't know me?" I asked and she shook her head. "No, who are you?" Sofia questioned with the calmest tone I had ever heard from her. Her voice was a bit hoarse from not talking for a while."What pack are you from" She thought for a while and nodded negatively. “I don't… "This was more shocking than anything that I had ever seen. I heard of situations like this, but it had never occurred to anyone to stand around. I placed my hand on the side of her face and caressed cheek, she gave no reaction to anything

Martinez's POV"You are so warm" She smiled and I pushed her off me. "Ah!" Sofia groaned as she landed on the floor. "You can sleep on the couch while I sleep on the bed," I yelled but my eyes met her gaze. She looked hurt and her eyes welled up in tears. I regretted speaking to her in such a manner but I could not reverse my words. "I'm sorry" Her voice quivered and went back to the couch. It was shocking to hear her say she was sorry. That was one word I never expected to hear from Sofia. She laid on the couch and covered herself with her blanket. I sighed and laid back as well. I closed my eyes but the hurt expression on her face kept haunting me. I woke up the next morning to find Sofia curled up next to me in bed. My initial reaction was one of shock and confusion. What was she doing here? Last night, I pushed her away, telling her to sleep on the couch. But somehow, she ended up back by my side."Get up!" I shouted, pushing her away with a mix of frustration and bafflemen

Martinez's POV. "Sofia!" I screamed out of my sleep and sat straight. I looked around and I was still in my room, it was simply a nightmare. One that honestly scared me, I looked by my side and Sofia was not beside me. That exact fear gripped me and I clambered down from the bed. "Sofia!" I called and she came out of the bathroom. "Martinez" She said while standing by the door. I suddenly became angry and annoyed but decided to hold back. She ran away in my nightmare and committed suicide, I didn't want to make her more exasperated than she already felt. "I simply woke up to pee," Sofia said in a soft tone. "You shouldn't leave the bed like that without talking or saying a word about your whereabouts" I reprimanded her. I knew that my anger was not justified because she had practically done nothing to offend me. "Did I do anything wrong?" Sofia questioned with a cracked voice. “I only–"" I have heard enough from you, I want to sleep in peace" I hissed and laid back on the be

Martinez's POV. I grasped her hands and tugged them off my body. I was feeling uncomfortable with how my heart just reacted. I believed that it was caused by the cold or maybe I might be sick or down with health issues. My hand involuntarily went to my chest side and I rubbed it slowly before facing her. "Is there something wrong?" Sofia asked and touched my chest and my heart palpitated. "Can you stop touching me already?" I snapped at her and frowned angrily. "My hands are not dirty, so I have all the right to touch you and anyways you are my savior, Freya told me how you found and saved me" Sofia giggled. “So, no matter what you say; I would always remain grateful to you” 'that loudmouth' I thought about Freya and rolled my eyes in annoyance. There were things I had told her to avoid telling Sofia about. For instance, the rejection incident between the both of us had been hidden from her and also the duel to death had been eluded from our little stories about her past. She

  • The Rejected Substitute Mate.   Chapter 61

Martinez's POV. I shuddered and swallowed the hard lump in my throat as I heard his words. They frightened me. There were things that could kill a werewolf but a silver bullet was the deadliest. It was potent, killing not only werewolves but other supernatural beings. The darkness in my eyes reduced and I knew that I had to think fast about my next move. It had to be shrewd and good enough to outsmart these two fools standing here but I couldn't be easily deceived. He saw eyes and darken and almost changed colors, of course the silver bullet thing might be a lie. He might have heard about werewolves and what could kill them. That would be his easiest way to escape from my hands. He simply had to lie about it. I wasn't too certain about my assumptions but humans were quite different from us, werewolves. They were more cunny because of their frail nature, they hardly had anything to defend themselves apart from their knowledge and their numerous weapons. I studied his expression a

Sofia's POV. "What!" He looked taken aback by my words but I couldn't deny that, it was certainly how I felt. I have had this feeling for a while, it could be called attraction and affection at first sight. He was the first person I saw when I awakened and he was a little bit nice at that time. The way he spoke to me, he seemed to be concerned about my well being , it was what I found alluring about him but suddenly he began changing his attitude towards me. He became more cruel and harsh with his words. There were times when he would act nice and soft towards me but it was always short lived because in an instant he was back to being callous Martinez. The more I reasoned about his behavior, the less understanding I acquired. He was, so far, the most confusing person I had met out of the others but it still couldn't deter those feelings from my heart. It was a kind of pull that I couldn't hide anymore. I liked him and I felt terrible inside each time he pushed me away or shoved

  • The Rejected Substitute Mate.   Chapter 63

Sofia's POV. I gazed at Lewis with a smile. I really liked the idea and I had always noticed Martinez's annoyance anytime he saw me with Lewis. Lewis would be a great partner in this plan of mine.Should I tell him or should I keep it to myself? Should it be a one sided plan to avoid arousing any suspicion from Martinez?. The answer was yes, I had to keep this plant to myself, it might look too obvious if Lewis knew his part in it. Lewis would be naturally enticed and play along without any knowledge of my strategy,it would be a greater success on his part.I rubbed my palms against each other in excitement. I couldn't wait for the time when he would finally accept his feelings for me. I might be termed a fool but I could see that affection in his eyes but they disappeared too quickly. I had to make sure those affections remained permanent because Martinez was too unpredictable. Lewis kissed my knuckles and groaned in pain. "Lewis, your mother can't see you this way; I have to tr

EpilogueAuthor's POV Martinez rushed out of the pack house in desperation, he didn't have a certain direction but he knew that he had to find Sofia and his mother before anything happened to them. Martinez reached the streets but he stopped running, he closed his eyes and tried communicating with his mother through the mind link. 'She's about to throw me off the cliffMartinez's eyes widened when he heard this, he ran to the only place that had a waterfall and a cliff. He rushed to the place and he met Sofia there as well. His eyes widened when he saw Elena holding his mother's neck with a knife placed on it and worse, being close to the edge of the cliff. Author's POV. Elena smiled to herself and lowered her knees beside him. "I have always wanted this for all the maltreatment which I endured with you, for all the times you cheated on me and secretly humiliated me" Elena smiled more broadly, relishing each second in which he slowly died. Elena traveled her hands to the spot where she stabbed him, she pulled out the knife and quickly stabbed him in the temple, straight into his brain. Alpha Jose gasped and his eyes remained wide open, he was dead. Elena chuckled and tears filled her eyes. She regretted wasting her time with such a person, spending so many years with such an appreciative fellow. Her life was truly a nightmare but now, Alesix would become the Alpha and they would become a happy family. Elena stood up and walked to the windows, she opened them and walked to the bathroom, she washed her hands and continued smiling to herself, in the mirror. She left the bathroom and quickly changed her clothes and disposed of the ol

  • The Rejected Substitute Mate.   Chapter 134

Author's POV. Martinez was among the Rebels training them then he showed the older ones their next strategies for defeating Alpha Jose's army if they decided to retaliate against the death of their Alpha. Their first plan was to capture Alpha Jose and kill him, though Martinez knew that Alesix would not be in support of his plans but there was no other way. They would not only kill Alpha Jose but imprison Elena. Elena was surely in partnership with Alpha Jose in all his deeds and she had to be punished as well for supporting him. Martinez noticed something was wrong when he mentioned Elena's name, there was this strangeness among them and it didn't go unnoticed. Martinez had also noticed that they had been acting strange for a while, somewhat nervous and reluctant about a few things. He didn't ask them if anything was wrong because he wanted to avoid any awkward situation. He knew who to ask and he hoped that the person wouldn't lie to him. After discussing the strategies with

Author's POV. Sofia was about to speak again but Martinez covered her lips with his hand and placed his finger on his lips, telling her to be mute. Martinez wasn't scared of him catching them. He was prepared to kill him for the havoc he caused his family, Martinez wanted to eliminate him for the years of pain which he gave him. He would never forgive Alpha Jose for destroying the happiness in his life and treating his mother like a piece of dirt, all these years. The memories of how his father died came to his mind and it caused his anger to surge. Sofia, whose gaze was on the ceiling, looked at Martinex and was shocked to see blood dripping from his nose. It scared her to see such. Sofis tried speaking but Martinez shook his head and tightened his grasp on her lips. The footsteps suddenly halted and Sofia noticed that he began walking backwards. She heard a metal clang and then silence. Martinez looked up and noticed that Alpha Jose was gone as well. He wasn't relieved about

  • The Rejected Substitute Mate.   Chapter 132

Author's POV. Sofia was stunned by what he said, she looked at him and it made her lose focus. Martinez's eyes were still widened as he released her hand and the lantern fell from his other hand. He lost the connection with her magic and couldn't see anything again. “Mother” Martinez panicked, tears were stinging his eyes as he tried to think about whom he just saw. It was like an imagination to him, or maybe a kind of illusion that was made to deceive him. His mother had lost her mind, she left and never returned. “I thought your mother was dead or rather missing, …this means…” Sofía trailed off in shock as it dawned on her that his mother was never missing. She was captured and kept in this place for several years. Sofia knew that the only culprit behind this was Alpha Jose. “She never disappeared, she never left me” his voice shook as painful tears dropped from his eyes. He had thought his mother left since she couldn't handle the grief, and he never hated her for it. He u

  • The Rejected Substitute Mate.   Chapter 131

Author's POV. Elena's presence was domineering, and they were aware that she wasn't bluffing at all. They might love Sofia and support her ambition to become the Alpha, but they were afraid for their lives. Though they were going to challenge Alpha Jose and Luna Elena, but not in this form. They had Violetta, who was the youngest, and she lost her mother in such a gruesome manner. They couldn't allow Elena to kill the little child who hasn't started a future. The rebels felt disappointed by their cowardice but they were unable to sacrifice their families for a meaningless cause. If they had died at war, then it would have been for greater achievement, but that wasn't the case. “Now that you all are under my jurisdiction and authority, I need you to continue training with Sofia but at the last minute, you will abandon her” Elena ordered with a frown on her lips. The rebels weren't surprised by her evil instructions, but they were unhappy about the betrayal and hurt they would cau

Some of her enemies were dead, and the only enemies she left were Alpha Jose and Elena. They were the only adversaries standing in her way to joy. Sofia had been thinking for a while, and she had finally decided to give up her ambition to be the Alpha. She admitted that Martinez deserved it more, even though he wasn't pursuing it for the people but rather for his parents. It was still outstanding how much he was ready to make his parents proud, that quality of selflessness and willingness to give others joy even in their graves. That had made her change her mind. It dawned on her that he only wanted justice for what his parents had been through, she couldn't imagine the pain that he had endured a

She was weak but happy that finally those nightmares would be over and no one would hurt her again. She had completed the task which her mother was unable to finish. She closed her eyes and exhaled sharply. Sofia heard the door open and footsteps, but she had gone numb. She was conscious of her surroundings, but her body couldn't move. Her mother warned her about using so much power, but she insisted on destroying all of them. She refused to live her life in constant fear that some witch or warlock would kill her. She was Sofia, and she would never live in terror. “Sofia” Martinez called and took her body, but there was no response from her. “Is she breathing

  • The Rejected Substitute Mate.   Chapter 128

Author's POV. Martinez smiled gently at her and placed his hand on her knees, widening her thighs in the process. “Are you certain?” Martinez inquired, in case she had any doubts. He would rather not pressure her into doing anything wrong with the potion Sofia giggled and raised herself, she kissed his lips and trailed her hand on his abs then slowly down to his cock. She loved the size of it, the tiny veins around it, how erect it looked, it wasn't her first time seeing someone's cock though mistakenly. Anyway, his size was perfect according to her and it made her smile. “Did I impress you?” Martinez asked, and it caused Sofia to chuckle. She almost choked because of laughter. She never knew pre-sex would be so interesting and tremendous. “You impressed me beyond imagination. I love you and I want this” Sofia whispered and stared down at his cock. She was about to touch it when he grasped her hand and pushed her back on the bed. “Woah!” Sofia gasped and readily opened her leg
