Chapter 4 – Bloody Picnic

"Now you know the rules Geminie. Be polite and don't eat too much. You're a lady not a Rogue." My father warns and I nod, my curly white hair bouncing with the movement. Mother and father set high expectations for me the moment I was old enough to hold a fork. Sit with your back straight and hands folded in your lap. Never rush to eat your food and only eat what is on your plate – never ask for more. Never speak unless spoken to and if I do not follow this rule when out in public around other pack members or dignified visitors, then father will punish me. I learned quickly what a leather belt felt like against my skin the first time I asked for more food when I was hungry. After that, I obeyed each rule without a fuss even if my back hurt from sitting straight for so long or if my stomach protested in the middle of the night for food.

“I understand father and I will behave properly.” I answer quietly, catching Alex clench his f

Chapter 5 – No Longer a Beta "Do you remember much of what happened?" My father asks, the tension in the air so thick making me feel as if the walls are closing in on me. Mika and Lace sit to the side on the small couch with tear stained face while my parents force me to stand. Today we buried Alpha Sorus and Luna Reena and the idea of dealing with my parents after everything that’s happened in the last three days is not something I want to do after their neglect the night they found us pups huddled together in fear. Instead, I keep my gaze towards the window watching the rain drops pitter patter on the glass. “I don’t remember much. We fell asleep watching the unicorns play. Geminie woke me up because she heard something then woke Lace up.” Mika answers, his voice wavering. I turn to look at the older boy to see my mother comforting him and sending her seething glare my way. “Geminie, if you woke them up then why didn’t you come get hel

  • The Rejected Lunas   Chapter 6 – An Omega’s life

Chapter 6 – An Omega’s life I groan while going through the laundry, nearly gagging at the smell left on the sheets from a particular room while the heat of the dryers in the brightly lit basement room intensifies the smell emanating off of this particular basket I am stuck with. Visitors from Forest Paw had just left and their Alpha, Alpha Leo, being the biggest sleaze I have ever met left a mess in the guest room that I had the unfortunate misfortune to clean. He came for an alliance with our pack and I watched as Mika and Beta Bastian accepted this man openly while cleaning the foyer of the pack house. Alex managed to keep me as far away from the visiting Alpha as possible after the first night where I was forced to serve dinner. I could feel his eyes on me throughout the night, knowing that if he spoke one word to the Beta, he could have his way with me – a fourteen year old child. It wouldn’t be the first time the Beta tried to use my body for his own advantage bu

Chapter 7 – Days, Years, Death is a wish I groan as every step leading to my room causes a wince of pain. I hate life! Is the thought that floats through my head while I slip out of my worn out clothes and into some plain comfortable black sweats and black long sleave. With Alex still helping me every now and then, protecting me from Beta Bastian and Mrs. Jasmine as best as he can is the only other ray of hope I have to survive as my eighteenth birthday rolls closer. The thought that I will meet my mate, break free from Hidden Claws and never see this pack again after graduation and the eleven years of hell I have suffered makes me smile while I lock the door to my room and open the window. Its midnight and the moon shines down at me while the wind brings a much needed fresh breath of air. The leaves to the large sugar maple tree next to my window rustles in the breeze, bringing the delectable smell of maple inside. It’s midnight, chores in the pack house are done and

  • The Rejected Lunas   Chapter 8 - Planning a Departure

Chapter 8 - Planning a Departure I glare as the small device on my side table as the alarm clock rings shrilly in the quiet morning. With only four hours of sleep after training and talking to Lizaria I want nothing more than to sleep in, but I have duties as an Omega to perform. Slamming my fist onto the alarm clock and turning it off, I take in the time of six O’clock in the morning and groan. Today is my day to cook breakfast for the pack and with only an hour and a half to have the meal ready and on the table or face punishment from Beta Bastian I will have to quickly get ready and make it downstairs within the next fifteen minutes. A quick look outside the window and noticing the sky is still dark outside I groan with frustration and fling the comforter off of my body, shivering with the cold fall air. Today being graduation day, many of the wolves will be preparing to walk across the stage at noon. Chores will be delegated to the Omega’s twenty ye

  • The Rejected Lunas   Chapter 9 - Graduation Blues

Chapter 9 - Graduation Blues I quietly stand off to the side while wolves in their graduation gowns run around chattering away with their friends. The well wishes and ‘I’ll miss you’ sound around the room. Left alone, I realize that although no one caused me trouble here at school, I was left with no friends and spent my “golden” high school years as a lone wolf. The halls behind the gymnasium where graduation will take place buzz with an excited and nervous energy. “Geminie are you ready?” Mrs. Horris asks. The wolf with graying hair before me looks around the halls and smiles. As our Principal, she has been the wolf to have mentored me and helped me through many things since entering grade nine. She understood me right away the first day we met when she watched me faint my first day at school. As we sat in her office, my heart racing thinking that I would be in trouble, Mrs. Horris surprised me by handing me a warm meal and a glass of orange juice. H

  • The Rejected Lunas   Chapter 10 – Rejection Feels Like Death

Chapter 10 – Rejection Feels Like Death I sigh as I look at myself in the small mirror hanging from the wall. After the graduation ceremony I made my way to my small attic room to see all the bags I had packed gone and a large gift box sitting on the bare mattress. The smile I had on my face had not left after noticing the pale pink dress inside and a note from Alex to enjoy the party – a party all Omegas had to help set up from cooking all the food to setting all the decorations. Now showered and dressed in the flowy off the shoulder knee length dress with a simple pair of black flats on my dainty feet I sigh and look towards the open window behind me where the sounds of music drift in on the wind. The party is in full swing and whether or not I want to go I could use the last night as a pack member to just enjoy some form of normalcy. “Gemmie?” A soft knock on the door catches my attention as Alex pops his head inside, giving me a soft smile and stepp

  • The Rejected Lunas   Chapter 11 - Truth

Chapter 11 - Truth The days passed in a blurry haze as the slow rhythmic hum of the engine and light tunes from the radio soothe me in and out of sleep. Every now and then I hear the host announce what day it is when the burning in my body eases and I am conscious long enough to hear. Sometimes my skin feels like it is rippling, like the waves on the lake with a soft summer breeze. Sometimes, it feels like my bones would break with every bump Alex’s truck hits, only to realign without warning. Sometimes, I can smell the tang of blood in the air and wonder if it is from me or a poor animal hit on the side of the road. Sometimes a lullaby that is so familiar but hard to remember where I heard it from is sang to me and in my moments of consciousness and asking Alex about it, I learn that no one in the pack has ever sang it to me. I remember one night on the long drive the sound of a dying animal howling filled my ears, it wasn’t until Alex pleaded for me

  • The Rejected Lunas   Chapter 12 – A Shift in Life

Chapter 12 – A Shift in Life Morning came quicker than I thought as light streams in from the large window and into my eyes. After Ira’s last words to us, Alex and I concluded that no matter what, we would create our own pack. I will accept my birth father when I meet him and build a relationship with him and any family from either side of my mother and father, but the thought of joining another pack over being able to create my own brought a sense of unease. I never want to be under someone else’s power again. Looking towards Alex still fast asleep beside me, I smile and silently creep out of bed and tiptoe to the door and out into the hallway. My goal shift for the first time consciously and test my wolf form out. The halls of the Temple of the Goddess are a twist and turn, making it harder for me to find any exit and make my way outside where I can shift without worry of destroying something inside. Every time I try a new hallway after retracing my s

Chapter 38 – A New Destiny set in Motion "Mama who will be Queen?" Turning away from the window as I wait for Albot’s return, I look to find my daughters playing with their dolls by the thrones, their white hair resembling mine while each sport one brown eye like their father and one prism eye like me. Walking towards the twins, I crouch down to look at Arora who asked the question, slowly playing with her hair. Depends on who is fit for it.” I answer, standing up straight and picking Arora up in my arms. “Being a ruler isn't just about pretty dresses and golden tiaras. In our case, silver tiaras. We have to be fair and just rulers to the many packs. We have to solve problems and disputes before a war can start." I answer, gently tickling her sides as she lets out a giggle. I smile at my four year old pup, placing a kiss on her forehead as she giggles some more. "I hear giggling." Albot's voice calls out, a squeal of sur

Chapter 37 – Soul Returns Homes A soft steady beeping mixed the soft steady hum of another machinery floats into my ears, waking me from the deep sleep I had been put under after my visit with Morai. I groan, not wanting to be disturbed and feeling sore all over my body. Opening my eyes to see where the noise is coming from, I wince and quickly close them due to the bright light overhead. "Crystalline you're awake!" Albot's voice, although rough and hoars, fills my ears and a small smile plays at my lips. My mate is here, but he sounds tired. I feel his hand clasps mine and a kiss on my forehead leaving tingles where we touch. Definitely still my Mate. I try to say something, my mouth opening and closing but no sound comes out. My throat is sore and dry, as if I haven’t had a single drop of water in a long time. [Lights are too bright and I need a drink please.] I send to Albot through our link, squeezing his hand gently. Chapter 36 - A Date with Destiny I open my eyes to find myself in a room filled with books. Light filters in from above and I look to see an endless sky. Looking around confused, I wonder if my father sent my soul in the wrong place. "Sorry little wolf but I intervened for a moment." A childish voice has me turning to face a girl about fourteen years old as she carefully writes in an old leather bound book. Her hand flies over the pages, her face filled with focus on her task and I wait silently for her to be finished. With the slam of her book closing, I take a few steps forward. "Who are you?" I ask, watching the girl tentatively. Her violet eyes are soft and all knowing, as if this girl is someone who has lived many adventures. She stares at me with a serene smile, her little body slowly walking towards me until we are standing just a foot apart and she takes in my appearance from head to toe. "I'm gla

Chapter 35 – The Royal Family Bright light forces the darkness to fade and I find myself standing in the field of moon flowers I had just fought in. There is no signs of war before me and I wonder if what happened was a dream. “I see you are awake.” A voice I have longed to hear once more calls out. Turning around, I find my father leaning against a tree, his eyes filled with warmth. I rush to his side, my father pushing off from the tree to catch me in his arms as he hugs me tightly to him. The scent of the moon is on him and I smile, feeling the comforting embrace of a parent calm me. “You did good my pup. I am proud of you.” He whispers, stroking my hair. All I can do is nod, my voice constricted as I allow the tears to flow down my face. “Am I dead?” I finally am able to ask after some time has passed. “No. You are just in the in-between right now as your body heals. Now you have some people that want

Chapter 34 – Coro’s End The Trackers quickly descend from the trees surrounding the meadow, their agile bodies making quick work in slicing open their unsuspecting targes throat before they move on to the next. The hunters have paired up with a Royal Soldier, taking turns in attacking and defending the other as piles of dead Rogues fall to the ground. All around me are furs of various colours. At one point I caught sight of Amberle's fire coloured wolf and Dominic's ice coloured wolve rip apart a black Soulless before they disappear once again. I know my white fur is an easier target as I dodge and fight off multiple Soulless at a time. I find myself in an endless cycle of dodge, claw, bite, kill and retreat while leaving a trail of dead Soulless in my wake. My muzzle is now stained black by the foul blood of the decaying wolves but sadly I have grown used to the stench after an hour had passed in the battle. Witches began popping in and

Chapter 33 – The Final Battle The sounds of muffled footsteps behind me both in wolf and fur form reminds me that the final battle is only moments away. The sky is fading from the indigo of night to a darker blue with hues of red, purple and pinks on the horizon. [Remember to keep the link open to receive orders.] I hear Albot state through the open link, a resounding “Yes sir” from the hundreds of wolves joining us in this battle replying back. I smile, already seeing how great a King Albot makes. Once this war is over, I can plan his coronation and then together we can plan a wedding. It isn’t long until we make it to the meadow, the flower buds still closed waiting for the right time to bloom. I think back to the first time I met my father, watching the scene of my adoptive mother finding me in this verry field as well as the memories I have of the two of us running around and picking these flowers to decorate the palace halls. Now on the edge of the meadow, I can see Coro on

Chapter 32 – The Dawn of War Standing in the thrown room, a white suit with a white cape draped over my shoulders, I look outside the window as worry settles in. The stars are still out but as soon as the sun rises, all the moon flowers will bloom and the final battle in this war will begin. “You okay Darling?” Albot asks, walking forward with a mug of what smells like to be peppermint tea in his hand. I take it from him, thanking my mate before taking a sip of the much needed drink. “I’m nervous.” I sigh out, leaning into his touch as he wraps his arms around me. “I know. But we have been preparing for this moment Crystalline. We will win this.” Albot reassure me. Taking in his scent, I continue drinking the tea as we enjoy this final moment of calmness. Our scouts have already linked us that Coro is on the move, an army of Rogues and Soulless following behind him. It is only a matter of time before we have to leave and

Chapter 31 - A Sense of Normalcy Throwing Amberle over my shoulder, I smile triumphantly as the fiery haired she-wolf lets out a wince. For the past two days of training and meetings, she has teased me about Albot and our matting. How she expects to have her band of nieces and nephews grow soon after the war. This has just fueled me to want to kick her ass even more. “Geeze Crysta, go easy on me.” She groans out, pushing herself into a sitting position as she eyes me. “Are you going to stop teasing me?” I ask instead. “And ruin my fun, nope.” “Then I guess you are going to have to get used to finally having your ass on the ground all the time.” I shrug, getting a playful growl from the Alpha wolf in response. I roll my eyes, holding out my hand and helping Amberle to stand. Although I have been besting the she-wolf, I still sport a few scrapes and bruises myself from sparing with her. “So
