Paris POv

Wait, did this woman just reject me?

" Please, Alpha, let me just leave!", her voice trembled as she made her fist into a ball. She threw me a sharp gaze as she spoke in a commanding tone like a warrior. And It felt like she had made up her mind to do what she said.

" Are you serious, Ember? What's wrong with you? You don't have the right to reject me as your mate! I'm your Alpha and I have the command in everything!".

I looked at her with a serious gaze but the look in her eyes didn't change. I did not know what my wife was thinking but she was acting out of line. And The more I thought about it, the more bewildered I got.

I guess she's too absorbed by the betrayal thing I did with my fated mate Kate and I can't blame her for it since it's my fault. I kept our secret affair after finding her. I told her that I loved her but as our skin collided, my wolf couldn't resist the wolf bonds between us and that's the biggest mistake I made the day I marked Kate. To think about all of this, it's still not a reason why she's acting so strange. It doesn't make any sense.

" Why not? Tell me why I can't renounce you as my mate! I can do anything that I want. I'm tried and I'm done with you." She yelled towards me as she made a sharp gaze and turned her back to leave the room.

I want to stop her but she's too determined to leave. It happened so fast just in the blink of an eye and I didn't get a chance to answer her.

I thought I saw a new side of Ember whom I had never seen in her for the past four years. There's confidence in her actions, she showed me her strength and power which I didn't see when we were together. Her eyes showed no fear and there was determination in her decision.

" You're ungrateful Omega! How dare you reject my son??? Without him, you're nothing!", my mom shrieked but I found it annoying like a sharp thing piercing my ears.

" Have you said enough, mother?". It's the first time that I lost my patience with Queen Luna.

I was always giving my full respect to my family and being patient was part of it but I held it for a long time. I took a deep breath and calm myself. My tone softened as I requested my sister to leave with Mother Lara.

" Cristina, can you take Mother outside with you? I just want some private conversation with Kate",

My little sister took her bag and dragged Mom with her outside the ward.

Now that me and Kate are alone, I am dying to know what my wife said is all true.

She lazily got up from the bed while pressing the left side of her belly where she accused Ember of stabbing her deeply. I walked closer and doubled the stab mark.

" Please, Paris, it hurts. Don't", she winced while stopping my hands but I didn't let her finish because I didn't care about it anymore.

" Just be honest to me! Tell me the truth and don't answer me with your other lies!", my voice sounded like thunder in her ears.

Kate pulled my hands and tightly held them asking for my forgiveness.

" Please, forgive me, Love."

I took a deep breath while looking at her. I know what she did was no excuse but she's still my destined mate and I have other reasons that's why I just couldn't ignore her. Back in the day, I recently found out that the man who saved me from the pit of death happened to be Kate's dad. Before he died, he asked me to take care of his daughter and she was Kate. I made a promise to her dad that's why it's hard to decide.

I betrayed Ember and that's not fair. I thought Kate would complete me but when I realized that she was no match for my wife, I badly wanted to turn back the time, to the day I lied to her... The night when I marked Kate.

I need to find Ember. I shifted my eyes on her and her whole body was trembling. She's crying which is bad for our baby. I know she made a mistake but she's also my responsibility because she's carrying my heir. I must treat her fairly in her situation.

I took a sigh of defeat and held her hands.

" I'm sorry, Kate but I'm too anxious right now. I need to recollect all my thoughts first. Let's talk when I come back because I have matters to attend. Rest well, bye." I said but she wrapped her hands around my waist desperately not wanting me to leave.

I forcibly took them off and left the ward. I shut the door behind me without looking back.

I was navigating the hallway while feeling distressed when I saw Jackson, my Beta waiting for me patiently at the hospital entrance. I can guess why he's here.

He has long shiny black hair and sharp distinctive eyes that can easily catch your attention. Both of us were quiet even inside the car. I decided to sit in the backseat and let Jackson drive for me because my body was not responding well. After all, it was flooded with emotions. I tried to connect our wolves link in my mind but I couldn't reach her. I soon realized that Ember severed our wolf connection.

" Hey, you can't blame Ember. You cheated on her." My wolf got interrupted.

I took a deep sigh and tightened my jaws acting stubborn.

" Nope. I didn't. It was--- a fate." I simply muttered but Jackson chuckled.

I took my phone and called the hospital director if my wife left a message before leaving but not even clue. I called the Packhouse which she usually visited when she brought the students and committee a hot homemade noodle soup but as usual, they said the same. I took a deep breath when my eyes landed on a small box tied by a red ribbon.

I looked up and saw Jackson in the rearview mirror wearing a smile.

" Do you know what is this?", I asked him while taking it.

" Ember took it from her bag before she left. She said that you might want to see what's inside it." He replied and offered me a wink.

I didn't spend any time so I hastily unwrapped it and guilt hit me to read her greetings.

" Happy five years."

My heart aches so badly to realize that my wife remembered our fifth wedding anniversary and even prepared me a gift.

I glanced a peek at Jackson when I saw him making a smirk. I know he's trying to provoke me but he's right and I was wrong.

Ember knew everything about me. I was touched and I know that I owe her an apology. I know an apology won't heal the wounds I caused her but this was my only chance to prove that she's still my Luna even though Kate was pregnant.

I admit I was wrong and now I am willing to repent my sins to my wife. Jackson shrugged and decided to focus his attention on the road when he mentioned the other matter to me. It's about the Packs Alliance meeting.

" Did you review the papers I sent to you yesterday? We can't let the committee wait for your decision."

I'm not in the mood to talk about it because my mind was filled with thoughts about my rebellious wife. I might call it her rebel moment because it was the first time that she disobeyed me.

" I want to go home. I need to find Ember."

I tapped my forehead and fixed my hair to relax.

" Ahmm, where do you think my wife went when she's not at home?", I ask him while meeting his eyes in the rearview mirror.

He chuckled and sneered at me.

" What would I know? She's your wife, Paris. You know better." He simply muttered while raising his brows towards me.

Indeed, I was but I had no idea where Ember went either. For the five years we have been together, I felt like I didn't know anything about my wife.

I took my phone to call one of my bodyguards inside the mansion if he saw my wife come home.

" Si---r, Ma'am Ember did but---", his voice seems trembling. He sounds like he's hiding something from me.

I clasp my hands into a ball.

" But what? Did something happen to my wife? Tell me!". I roared in desperation.

" She left with a suitcase and a guy picked her up riding in a red Mercedes Benz car, sir".

I was surprised and curious at the same time about who was that guy. My wife hasn't told me anything about her family: not even once. What if--.

I was about to shoot back when my bodyguard added.

" And-- sir, the guy left a divorce papers for you to sign."

Hearing about it made me mad and confused. I had no idea that my wife had someone to rescue her. I wonder who was the guy that took my wife. I must find her.

I was thinking so badly " Did she want to reject me or did she reject me already?".

Ember POV

" I, Ember MacGregor rejected you as my mate, Alpha Paris ".

It's still vivid in my head how his expressions changed after I rejected him. Maybe Paris won't think that I had the guts to cut our links too but I did. Even if he looks for me or minds links our wolves, it won't happen anymore because I eradicated our connections as mates. The bond wasn't active anymore because I rejected him so were our mind links.

Those five years I spent with him and his family were turned to waste. Maybe it's time for me to come back home. I walked out from the gate of their mansion when I heard a car honk sounds.

My eyes brightened to see a familiar car and I knew already who had come to pick me up.
