ALARIC
~Gianna’s Trial Day~
I was in my bed when a phone call startled me. It’s never the usual case that my phone is ringing. But last night, Viviana occupied my time. She had been fidgeting with her inner self. She was hesitant to meet my pack. I forgot to put the phone on silent.
I turned over and found the source of that noise. Rubbing my eyes, I scanned the display to notice the time. It was 7 a.m. And the caller ID was none other than Miss Omaka.
“Oh, Shit!”
I fumbled out of my bed immediately. The phone kept ringing. It seemed that Miss Omaka would not inhale the next lot of oxygen till I answer the call. I pushed the answer button and cleared my throat of morning breath.
“Miss Omaka!” My tone was gentle and snugged with my Alpha title. The lady responded with the same heaviness.
“Alpha Alaric! I hope not to have disturbed you on this beauuuuutiful morning. But I wanted to remind you ab
ALARICI hate to admit that I was nervous. Never in my life, had I ever been. But today was different. It wasn’t me competing. It was Gianna. The same little girl who reminded me of my sister, who completed my family, who brought back smiles to everyone.“Are you ready?” Me. Hale's sudden remark pulled me out of my trance. I focused my eyes on the five kids standing glued to their respective spots. The test for Agility, they called it. The first round. We are werewolves. Naturally, the test for Agility would use something different. Something that would be able to rule out the cases with what normal humans do when they are considered agile.“Students, chin up. Here is the setup.” Mr. Hale announced gesturing at the center of the ground where a maze had been designed using various kinds of bushes, flowers, and some woodie kinds of stuff. There were kept four rabbits, the white ones. Humans particularly use these animals for la
ALARICIn the middle of that trial chaos, all of a sudden, my mind drifted to my love, my mate, my Viviana. It’s been a few days since I last saw her, loved her, hugged her, touched her, kissed her. I wasn’t shameful to admit that I longed for her scent. Moon took the front.“We should talk to mate once. Miracle must be missing me too.” He was always ready for Miracle. Now that Moon had marked Miracle in our last love-making session, it was difficult for our wolves to stay apart. It was insane to let them stay separated. But Viviana demanded time. She needed five-ten days to sort everything before coming to me and my family. And I had to give her that. Her words resurfaced in my mind.“Alaric, find anything that you can about the Moon Goddess. There must be someone who knows something in your pack.”I didn’t get to question her at that time, but I knew she was agitated. She was upset about her dreamy state.
ALARIC“Students, as you all know, it’s the last round. And this is going to decide who amongst you would stay in the pack and who would leave! Are you ready?” Selena Dark called all the students in a commanding tone. Her voice held authority as if she had forced the students to follow her words without forcing them. Strange!“So, for this round, we would test your uniqueness. This is to ensure that you are the best version of yourself. Werewolves are known to possess special powers. This test would bring out your special powers.” Selena announced to the students and her back faced me.Still, I felt her deep piercing gaze on me. She paused for a bit. She wanted submission from the students. And… she had that.“Let me be clear. One of you would be eliminated, unlike the previous round.” Selena said and her eyes landed on Gianna’s figure. She had predatory eyes. She radiated the aura, the vibes that she
ALARICI closed the gap between Gianna and me. My arms wrapped around her protectively. Selena had been watching this from the corner of her eyes. That smirk didn’t leave her face, not even for a split second. And I was starting to get irritated. I wondered what was going on in that woman's mind.Gianna appeared weak, pale, and discharged. It was as if her energy had been sucked away. She smiled softly. But her lips didn’t lift. My heart pained for her.The moment she stepped into my territory, I had protected her from everything. Today, I was helpless. Ashton and mother were correct in saying that I should let Gianna discover herself. I couldn’t be overprotective. But I couldn’t help it either.I caressed Gianna’s head. She rested her head over my chest.“You did very well, G. I am proud of your chubby little legs. They carried you through the trial rounds.” Noah suppressed laughter, but Gianna smiled. It
VIVIANA“Emaaa….!!” I shouted at top of my lungs. I felt the air leave my throat when my eyes landed over the contents of this blue file.Emma had heard my shrill cry. Yet! She hid her figure behind the shut door. I banged the blue file over the study table. Few particles of dust fanned around with my gesture. It was horrific. How the hell did she!I banged my fists over the shut door.“I know you are in there. I know you are sticking your problematic-nasty ass with the door frame. Come out. Right now. Emma…!” I yelled once more repeating my action.I sounded like a madwoman. Well! I was a madwoman. All this was because of Emma. She still didn’t exit the room. My patience had been running out. I banged loudly again. The door shuddered under that force. My lips quirked up.“Emma… be a good pup and come out. I will hear your explanation first.” I said. Was I going to? I wasn’
ALARIC“How is she?” I jumped on my spot when father suddenly questioned. I wasn’t prepared for this. I thought he would wait for me in the hall. He was alone. Mom maybe was in the kitchen. Ashton had left for his room to rest, and I dismissed Noah too. He helped me in the trials a lot.“You just scared me, dad. You could have waited in the hallway.” I said. Father scanned my face for answers.“I didn’t want to wait. I know you too are desperate, Alaric. I can see it in your eyes. Something is bothering you.” Father said. He had been a great dad. He always knew me the best, without me even saying something.“Let’s go somewhere else. Shall we?” I searched father’s face. He nodded. Was it the time? Was I ready? What if something unexpected crawled out of the blue? Was I prepared for that part? I questioned my inner self but shrugged the thoughts. It didn’t matter anymore. V
ALARIC“We are on time, mom. Where is Ashton? Wasn’t he also supposed to be present here?” I asked mom who was fidgeting with her fingers. Who would believe that she was the Luna or our pack! She was way too restless. I hadn’t seen her this uneasy. Why! And that brat Ashton was nowhere to be found.“I don’t know, but I am worried about Gianna. I mean, you know the ritual is a bit scary. Besides, it’s her first-time experiencing something like this. I wonder how would she cope with it!” Mom whispered, her words lacking confidence.I hugged her shoulders tight. It was my way to calm her. She had been the one to care for Gianna. Everyone was pestering me that I had shielded Gianna from the world, but in truth… it was my mother. She was the real protector. Mom smiled at me. Ashton hugged her on the other side.“Where have you been? You were supposed to arrive with us.” I glared at Ashton. His
ALARICNoah took over my responsibility of handling my little sister. He carried her in his arms. Though it was his duty as my beta, I didn’t want him to do this.No one understood what just happened. Was Gianna a part of my pack now? Or not? I second that. I pried into Dad and Mom’s direction. They had horrified faces as if they had witnessed something they shouldn’t have. Ashton was way too worried about Gianna. He kept on cleaning her bleeding hands. Gianna was made to lay over the nearby raised rocky surface that had been cast in the form of a sitting bench. Her body was pale. How long would this go on? How long would she have to endure this pain?I fisted my palms. I was raged beyond a saturation point. Everyone in the counsel had left including Mrs. Amanda, Mr. Hale, and Miss. Omaka. The left ones were family. Dad’s eyes kept scanning Gianna from far. He didn’t approach her. What was it? Was he having any second t
~TWO YEARS LATER~ALARICI had a meeting to attend in the other state. I checked the clock. It was already 8 in the morning. And I was making breakfast. I flipped the pancake-like a pro. Satisfaction washed over me. I recalled my earlier cooking days. It was such a mess. I was punished every time I was mistaken, or something burned. And my judge was none other than my beautiful wife, Viviana. Yes, we got married almost a year and a half ago. Viviana insisted I learn how to cook. She wanted privacy. So, we didn’t have any regular cooks or maids. It was an advantage. We used to fuck everywhere in the house. It was such a time. Even after almost five hundred and fifty days of us being husband and wife, the romance, the steam, and spark were high. Viviana was always ready for it.Such a naughty wife she is! I chuckled at the thought. Yesterday, Viviana spilled a full bowl of ice cream over me when I just stepped out of the shower. She giggled and
VIVIANA“Stay there, wolf. Don’t step ahead with those judging eyeballs. This wouldn’t have happened if you listened to me. I told you to let her be. But you…” Selena scoffed. I looked at her dark eyes. It was coming. The truth. Alaric didn’t have to hear it like this. I didn’t want it. But guess I was already out of options.“What do you mean? You kidnapped Gianna, you hurt her, and you say you want the good for me? Aren’t you being diplomatic here?” Alaric asked. He wasn’t calm. Not yet. His popping veins confirmed it. But Selena was correct. He wasn’t a fault. This was all predestined. The catch was, that we had our choices to change the course of destiny. It was horrible.“What do you think? Oh! You naïve Alpha! Do you think all this… is about you?” Selena paused and laughed. Her laughter echoed. Baspo and Noah had left with Gianna already. Selena d
VIVIANA“Viviana, what’s this place? I… how you do know about it? I have never been here before! What’s all this?” I heard Alaric behind me. I calmed. Lady Ravoise vanished. Baspo stayed at the abode. The reverse waterfall returned to its original state. Everything went back to how it was earlier.“It’s The Óre,” I said to a baffled Alaric and Noah. They were covered in the same robes that Baspo had. I was laced with the flames.“I sensed Gianna here. She is nearby. I suggest that we should split and search for her.” I said. Time was running. We had to find Gianna before midnight. Once the moon was at its peak, Selena would be able to get away, even though I succeed in defeating her. I didn’t wish that.I wanted her end. Today. Here. Right in this place.Alaric scanned my eyes.“I want the same.” He whispered in my ears. I ordered Baspo and Noah to search t
VIVIANA“Baspo, we need to hurry. We are running out of time.” I urged Baspo who kept guiding me the way. We were away from Alaric and Noah. They couldn’t enter without being allowed. But Gianna did. That was another question. I couldn’t get to rephrase it. I heard a howl. A loud one. It collided with the sky and reverberated back. Straight into my ears. To be precise, Miracle’s ears.Miracle paused. Baspo didn’t. He kept moving. His pace was fast. Faster than I anticipated. He understood the situation. But how would he react after getting to know about his late mother? Another upsetting question.“Luna, what happened? Why did you stop?” Baspo made it to my mind. He linked with me. Strange! How was that …?“The Goddess…” I heard Miracle say. Okay, so the legendary Moon Goddess, Selene, blessed me with the power of mind-link without marking my mate! Impressive.“That how
ALARIC I couldn’t believe my ears. Did I hear it correctly? Did Viviana say all that? Was I hallucinating? Well, it wasn’t me to be precise. It was Moon and Miracle now. We shifted as per Viviana’s say. She mentioned that she know where Gianna was.It was good. I felt relaxed, although just 0.1 percent. But at least, something was better than nothing. She mentioned some place called The Óre. I never heard of it before. Not in my whole life. And Viviana insisted that the place had been in Samara since the beginning. How weird! I wondered if my family was cognizant of that Óre.We geared up and Viviana chose to fill me through what happened to her on the way. She said we were an hour away from that place. I wanted that. I wanted answers. That would calm my racing mind and heart. And the moment she started talking, I was horrified.Selena Dark, Selene- the Holy Moon Goddess, The Óre, Gi
ALARICMoon let go of me the moment Miracle shifted. It was all weird. So strange. So different. So impossible. I was short of words. What the hell just happened?I witnessed it. Miracle was all wrapped up in the fire, raised from the ground, howling at the Moon. The next moment, she was eating it. She just ate that shit or whatsoever it was, to begin with. The most insane thing about all this mess was that she was fine. Not even a single burn. Not a single scratch. She looked like a newly polished mirror. Was I even saying it right? My words and sentences appeared jumbled. Well, not my fault. It was the situation. It was a situation. And now, Viviana was here. She lay unconscious in my arms, and naked too. I felt like transported back in time. It happened before. That Forest of the city. She was like this that day too. I saw her mark for the first time.My eyes followed her curves and landed on her mark. It was glowing. Same as the other da
VIVIANA I kept staring. My eyes wanted the goddess to answer. Why wasn’t she saying anything? I was restless. Gianna was out there, captive. I had to save her. We need to go. And here, she wasn’t ready to talk.“You want to know?” Selene asked. Her angelic aura was so pure. She was heavenly. She was the mother. Whenever she said anything, I felt calm. My anger subsided. I was melting. I nodded.“Selena is born out of hatred, jealousy, anger, and broken heart, as I mentioned. And you, Viviana, weren’t supposed to be a pure-blooded Sun-wolf. But your mother was anxious. She was afraid. She was scared for your future. So, she promised Zelda.”“At that time, Zelda didn’t know the truth about Selena. She borrowed the power of anger, and fury and cast it into your mother’s womb. That power; was nothing but Selena’s part.” Selene mentioned. I gasped. What the hell
VIVIANAThe woman smiled. I was disgusted. How dare she? She even infiltrated my mind! I won’t let her be. I was furious. I wanted out. I wanted Miracle to stay aside. But Miracle wasn’t in her senses. She was eating fire like pancakes. The sun was nowhere. The full moon decorated the sky and the fog cleared off my mind. Gianna. I remembered her. She needed me. Now, more than ever. And I was here. My wolf was busy eating the fire, and I was fucking trapped in her mind with this woman.“How dare you? Where is my sister? Where did you keep her?” I shouted at top of my lungs. We searched the whole Samara, but Gianna was nowhere. Noah kept hearing her loud cries in his mind. While I and Alaric couldn’t do anything.I have never been this useless in my life. I felt pathetic. But the woman smiled. She kept smiling.“Stop smiling, Selena. Answer me, where is my sister?” I kept asking. The woman started approaching
VIVIANA Alaric b haves strange and so did Noah. They were covering their ears as if something bothered their nerves. I sat silently. But my mind was a cyclone. Every passing second gave me anxiety. I was scared for Gianna. Where could she be? How was she? I didn’t know it. I didn’t know any of it.Alaric huffed. His condition wasn’t good. Noah’s eyes were red. He was in pain too. What the hell was happening exactly?“Miracle, what is happening?” I asked my wolf. Maybe she sensed something that I couldn’t. Miracle growled, grumbled, winced, and then whimpered. She was in pain.“Mate is suffering,” Miracle replied with a whimper. Moon wasn’t in a good state of predicament. Time wa running. I touched Alaric’s shoulder. He eased a bit. Another moment leaped, and Alaric appeared good.“What was that? Miracle said Moon is in pain. What hap
