Larry's POV

(...back to the region)

Larry adjusted his fitted leather jacket and stormed out of his apartment in the safe house. He drove to the security check and poked out a strand of hair from his skin. He placed it on the transparent machine, that projected forward as the vehicle drove close to the invisible entrance. The clipping tool signaled a green light which beeped twice at the large entrance, while scanning the vehicle. Immediately it got to the vehicle's wheels, it stopped blinking. Larry drove into the invisible barricade and came out into a wide deserted area. After a long drive that took about 15 minutes, he entered into the mainlands of the region. The streets were less busy. Most of the stores were closed, while others had been demolished by Xavier's rogue team. There were few uniformed men among Alpha William's loyal hunters parading the streets, and some firefighters putting out fire that might have been out of abandoned appliances. The tension had dialed down since

Larry's POV(… a wild trap)Larry slipped into deep thoughts as he replayed the voice mail. It was a message from Donald, one of the regions' skilled hunters and beta who worked as an undercover agent for the surveillance team. Larry was certain of his current safety, but he couldn't tell the condition of Claire or the others he knew that were outside the safe house, especially Meagan, his major responsibility. He contemplated on dropping a call due to the possibility of intercepted calls by the trackers from Xavier's team. Larry kept pacing. The urgency in Donald's voice mail wasn't ignorable. He reached out for a flask and brewed a cup of coffee, at the counter separating the cozy room with two sofa chair, from the kitchen. He retained an expressionless face as he funneled coffee down his throat. It was around mid-noon. Larry opened up his laptop and searched for the record of the occupants of the safe house. He found nothing. He assessed the portal for registration, being the regio

Meagan's POV(...a risky adventure)Life has been perfect, at least for Meagan. Since Ray became part of her life, Standford Elementary grew enjoyable. Ashley had left the school, and Meagan's ninth grade year seemed to be her best. Ray has been her main class rival. He was well-versed in science and evolution. Regardless, Meagan was named best overall pupil. It was another week of continual assessment. Meagan and Ray rode softly out of the school grounds after an interesting school session. They rerouted common street corners and shortcuts.Ray asked her a question as they were about to run over a stray dog searching for food, "What makes you think I shouldn't come see you? Perhaps your birthday if not today. Several weeks from now, correct? At your house, we could throw a little celebration. Say yes, please.“I'm not sure, Ray. (…an escape)Larry’s POVMany attempts by the surveillance team to round up the victims under the influence of Xavier's curse, to stage calculated attacks on the living remnants of Region22, had been futile. Larry had spent days in the safehouse without visiting Claire and ignored Donald’s calls, refusing to give a reply to his voicemails. He followed up on every news reported hourly, dreading his next course of action. Xavier had given him a week to surrender Meagan to him. He had no workable means to effect the mission, but his life was also on the line. The surveillance team tracked all his movements within and out of the region, for his safety, but it was becoming unnerving for him. Anna had been assigned to keep an eye on him also. He was sure to be killed on sight, for he had escaped several of Xavier's death traps. Claire, on the other hand, could lose her life any moment if her daily dose of potion wasn’t fed into her system. Meagan’s safety lay in his hands. He couldn’t must

Meagan's POV(... an history book)Meagan had suspended her adventurous ramble around the house. The visit to the underground basement and Ray's curiosity had diminished. But, she kept the old book under her bed, wrapped in a thick blanket. She hadn't gone back to it since the last time. The clock struck 9. Another day had gone without any mishap. Meagan joined Bernie in the cozy sitting room after clearing her dish. Bernie had been addicted to the news lately. She almost never retreated to bed without a dose of breaking news. There were no deadlines for Meagan. It was the start of a new class. She crawled into Bernie's arm and lay on her silk-clothed laps with a mind void of school demands. Bernie patted her head without taking her eyes off the talking screen in front of her. Meagan selectively listened to the young woman in corporate outfit talking about the hike in prices of crude and the ban on international travels in the country. Her eyes fell on the moving words, vanishing and

Meagan's POV(…in the woods)Meagan wiggled her limbs vigorously in a bid to free herself. It turned out to be a mere show of aimless beating in the air, as the world turned upsidedown. She continued to scream till her voice was gone. Meagan saw herself landing back on the ground. She was still panting heavily as she staggered for balance. She heard a gloomy voice behind, “It's mum, Meagan. Please don't run from me too.” Meagan felt a beam of compassion towards the voice. It sounded weak and sad, but it di nothing to alleviate her fright. She was drenched in her sweat. She pulled away from the slight grip and turned to behold the terrific face again. She froze on the spot, eyes widened, her whole body fell into an uncontrolled tremble as she beheld the figure that claimed to be her mother. It spoke again, “I'm not a beast. I can't hurt my little princess.” It made a short noise that Meagan assumed to be a sob as her eyes were watery behind the red glowing iris. The creature began to c

Meagan pulled herself along, stumbling on various protrusions from the ground as she leaned on her mother's arm. Her mother was always on the lookout for danger. She stroked the side of her head regularly as a migraine flared bitterly, exhausted from the endless excursion in the woods. The moonlight only kept her from hitting with a tree when her eyes closed. Her stomach rumbles were unaffected by the dinner her mother had prepared for her. Meagan's feet began to depress into soft grounds as they approached a near by stream, which was silently rippling the effects of the mild light over its surface. The only confirmation of her mother's presence was her warm arm and her frequent leaps as they walked. “Have some water,” her mother remarked, releasing her arms from Meagan's grip.Meagan knelt on both knees, cupped her hands into the stream and gulped down several bat

I'm glad you picked him over me but, I hope you don't regret your decisions soon. Cheers. Ray.”She smiled at the paper and squeezed it happily into the thrash. She had never regretted her decision. Her mate loved her even more than herself. “It still surprises me how you walked straight to me and said those words. I must have had a great resemblance with a simp. I couldn't hold back my tears,” Jason remarked as they held hands towards the pool. “I couldn't get over your mysterious eyes,”she replied with a chuckle. “What would have happened if I had rejected you instead?““I would be happy for you either ways. The fire traced the diesel so fast that the room was soon covered in a burning smoke. Meagan had mindlinked the pack and the warriors about Larry as she ordered for a rescue team. She kept on the attempt on the glass that was covered in flames as her body began to feel the intense heat. Her newly found father was lying helpless, holding on to his chest as he coughed vigorously. “The fire is alot. We can't get in, Alpha,” the leader of the rescue team mindlinked her as she hoped for the glass to give way to her hit. Finally, the glass began to crack as she increased her force. A massive fire extinguisher filled the room. The wolf that had come to their rescue joined in breaking down t

Her life was more than perfect, or at least, better than what it used to be. She got an apartment for Ray pending the day of her enthronement as she thought to mark her mate the same night she became the Alpha.“We need to prepare the pyramid grounds and wash it clean. I will be away for a while, Alpha,” Larry announced to her one evening and left. She entered her room and prepared for a good rest. The thoughts of her enthronement has consumed her mind. What if she failed her mission? What If the moon goddess doesn't grant her the title? There was one person she could ring to feel better. She reached out for her phone and dialed Ray's number. They spoke for hours long until it encroached into her sleeping time. There was never a dull moment with Ray. A sharp movement from the outside of her windows distrac

Send him to the dungeon instead,” Arya remarked as she contemplated what verdict she was to pass. Trix had been away for a while, so Arya had been in control of her all along. She made up her mind and commanded, “Chain in down in the dungeons until he dies a natural death.“ The guards, whom she was yet to familiarize with, bowed before her and took out Xavier. She didn't know what to do with Jason yet, so she instructed him to be locked up with his father, until she had decided on what to do. “Congratulations, Meagan. Your mother must be beaming with pride from above,” Arya encouraged as she stared mistly at the

Do you know how powerful I've become amidst other neighboring packs? You must be out of your mind.““I'm out of my mind. I love her, father and I love you too. I can't leave anyone of you. It's the only way to avoid a heated war.““There would be no war if we kill her before her abilities return back and we both know it would be twice her previous power. It's a stupid idea to keep such a threat.““You asked for a mate—”The alpha interrupted, “Yes. I wanted a mate for you, not an Omega. This would never happen. I would rather die of my illness that watch her become the Alpha of the pack.““But, If she becomes my mate, we can both lead the pack. She would be a strong woman. Please, father. She has agreed. Meagan's POV(…unexpected accomplice)“Who are you?“ Meagan asked, regretting why she was too weak to find out herself as the now human stranger refused to cease from patting her hair. “I wouldn't reveal my identity until you grant my request. You would want nothing from me if you ever find out but, my wish is that you don't see me as you used to.“Meagan was sure it wasn't Ray but it had a close resemblance to Larry's voice, only with a touch youthfulness and pain. “I'll tell a short story and therafter you can do whatever you want with me, and the baby. Shall I proceed?“Meagan, who knew her choices were limited, agreed, “Yes.““A girl child was raised by a single mother and grew up to hate males, after assuming all men were alike. You've two minutes to respond,” Jason raged as red spark flew across his watery eyes Meagan was confused. She had no idea of what he accused her of. “Don't give me that innocent look. It's the same crime you're been punished for. I want to know the others involved. You couldn't have done it alone and I'll make sure everyone involved is brought to book. So, start talking.““I was never in your room and I know nothing of your weakness.”“The CCTV coverage found you on the corridor that night. It's pointless to lie to cover up for anyone or do you want to suffer alone? Speak!“Meagan realized she was framed for a different offense she never committed. “I didn't enter your room that night. They both held their gaze on eachother as they realized the truth. “Is this really you?“ He squatted in front of her as they both gaped at each other. “How did you get here? How long have you worked with the Alpha?“ She asked as they collapsed into a hug. “Goodness! Meagan. It's hard to believe. Meagan's POV(…Trix reacts)She instinctively looked around her. Jason was truly nowhere to be found. How did the Alpha find out? she asked herself as she made sure there were no traces on the night of her escapade. At first, Meagan tried to comfort herself as she knew it had been impossible for the Alpha to terminate her life because of her powers which Larry attested to. “I kept you alive to breed my pack but you don't deserve to live. You're just like your kind. I should have known better then to keep you alive.“ “Are you just going to sit there without taking actions? If Jason is Ill then the potion Larry talked about is working,” Trix remarked violently as Meagan bowed still, dreading the Alpha's next move. “He can't hurt you, remember? This might be your only chance to get him out of the way and allow the kingdom bow to a new alpha. Do it, Meagan,” Trix ordered as she began to stir her up while the Alpha continued a show of emotional outburst. “Remember Larry said the action de
