Lucien’s POV

I was dumbfounded at the sight before me. It seemed almost like a dream but I knew it certainly was not a dream. I was awake and conscious to know that this was real. Aimee was not only levitating but she was glowing like the moon.

I wanted to believe that she was doing this on purpose but then her eyes were closed. In fact, she was fast asleep. She certainly did not know what was happening to her body. What exactly was going on and who was this mate of mine? A lot of questions came into mind but I was finding it difficult to get any substantive answers.

Before I could get into the negative, I remembered something vital. “The white wolf is not an ordinary wolf. She glows like the moon in the night and her powers are unmeasurable” I remembered the prophecy many years ago

For years I had gone in search of this white wolf to save my people. The white wolf was the only vantage point to destroy the dark forces and stop them from causing any form of trouble. Most especially, one that involves destroying Nexus which I was a protector of.

It was of utmost importance, the oracle had told me, that I found the wolf before it was too late. It was a tough journey. Moved into various places just to find this wolf. I was given a detailed description of what the wolf looked like and how it behaved but no one told me it would be in a human form and how to identify it.

It was a lot for me to do but I knew I had to do it. The pack relied on me to save them. They were my sole responsibility. Ever since the death of my parents by dark forces, I have developed PTSD but that does not stop me from trying to find a way, trying to find a possible end to all of these terrible things that will happen to our world because as they had prophesied. It was going to happen and we must be prepared with the White wolf.

I stared at the glowing and levitating human in front of me and I wondered if she was truly the white wolf that they prophesied about. There was no way this was some kind of joke because it was happening in front of me and no one was relating the news to me.

I took a step forward to have a better look at her. When I got close, I moved my hand to touch her but stopped halfway as she dropped back on the bed and the only thing she did was move to the other side as though nothing just happened.

I would not blame her because she does not know about it just yet. I adjusted the covers and made sure she was covered properly before walking out the door. Shadow growled at me for leaving but I had to leave her to have her rest.

By tomorrow, I will speak to her about it. But then if it were true it would change a lot of things about my decision to reject her. Now, it all depends on whether she would not reject me because of how I had been behaving lately.

A maid was about to walk past me when I stopped her. “Get me Alec” I instructed

She bowed and hurriedly left to do as I'd asked. In my room, it only took a minute of me stepping in for Alec to appear in front of me. “You sent for me,” Alec said giving his in-duty stance

Alec was my best friend since I knew how to walk and I was ecstatic to know he was my beta when I emerged as the alpha of the pack. Not only was he wise but he was a nice man. What made it better was the fact that he was Reine’s mate. He was the best person I could think of to take care of her.

I trust him with my life and I also knew he would lay down his life for me. “Sit,” I told him and he did so immediately already attentive to what I had to say

“I think Aimee is the white wolf” I informed him

“Did she display any signs?” he asked me and I nodded before narrating what I had seen “She is the white wolf then” he said

“But I do not think she is aware of it”

Alec nodded. “And I do not think she can control her powers too,” he told me which I completely agreed with

If she was aware and was able to control her powers, then she would not be levitating while asleep. Who knows what could have happened if she moved away from the bed and from that height, she could most definitely hurt herself. That thought upset both me and Shadow.

“But that’s not why I called you. I need you to do something. You need to check if she is aware or not” I told him

“You want me to touch her?” he asked

I knew what he was implying. We wolves are very possessive with our mates. Even though our mate was touched lightly by any man we get agitated about it. “I permit you to touch her to get the information I need,” I said

Morning came and we all stepped into the dining table to have a meal. Aimee stepped down to join us and she stared at me surprised for some time before Reine called her to take a seat beside her. I only glanced at her once as she sat down before concentrating on my food.

I noticed her staring at me but I chose to ignore it. “Mi lady, you look pale. Are you okay?” Alec asked, placing a hand on her wrist

Shadow growled a little bit I knew he was only doing what I had asked him too

“No, I'm fine. Just didn't sleep comfortably” she told him

“I tell the maids to get you a better bed” Alec told her taking back his hand

From what we both know, the reason she felt that way was because of what happened the previous night. It was either she knew what happened and did not want to tell us or she didn't know at all.

Alec then turned to me, shaking his head. Which meant she was not aware of her abilities. I was about to speak but then a guard ran into the room. “Alpha, there is trouble. Invasion by the dark forces”

I sprung up to my feet and so did Alec and Isaac who joined me immediately towards the door. I turned to Reine. “Keep her out of this” I instructed and Reine nodded before I stepped out of the house

I instructed that more warriors be sent to protect the people. The scene that met me was gruesome. Most of the pack members were dead and they left a trail with them. We followed. It was dangerous but if we figured out where they were headed then we could find a way to eliminate them.

I was calm on the outside but the scene only made me remember the day and the way my parents were killed. After about thirty minutes of our eyes down, watching the trail of blood and dead bodies, we finally figured that we had walked back to…

“The Castle” Isaac completed my thoughts

Instinctively, Alec rushed into the building calling out to Reine. Once I got in, I spoke to the first warrior I saw. “Search this castle with the rest” I commanded before joining Alec and Isaac

Reine rushed down the stairs.“Is all okay?” she asked and Alec without saying a word immediately hugged her then placed a kiss on her forehead

But if Reine was here then, “Where is Aimee?” I asked

“Up in her room. I left her when I heard Alec call me” Reine explained

I was about to relax when Reine's eyes went to the back, she shook a little and thanks to Alec who held her still she did not fall. “What’s wrong?” Alec asked but she did not reply instead she glanced at all of us before running up the stairs

We joined her in Aimee's room. It was empty. “Where is she?” I asked, barely keeping Shadow in check

He was unsettled and it made me unsettled. “No, no, no,” Reine said, looking around

“What did you see, Reine? And where is my mate?” I yelled

“They took her”

The words echoed in my eyes. I tried to blink them away. “Who took her away?” I heard Alec asked

“The dark forces” came Reine's reply

Shadow growled loudly. I did not want to believe it. The boldness and composure I had for so long was gone. I knew what was happening to me but I could not stop it. My heart pounded in my chest and even though I wanted to stop Shadow, he overtook and I transformed.

I knew what was happening. It needed to be stopped.Up till this moment, I was able to keep Shadow on a leash. There were a lot of things involved in being a wolf. One thing was for sure needed if they were to survive being a wolf and that was control. Wolves turn to rogues because they tend to lose this control they have over their wolves.Instead, their wolves control them. Usually, wolves have this sudden taste to kill anyone, especially humans and sometimes even our kind. With control, this can be curbed although was not usually a simple thing to do.Worse, if you are blessed with extraordinary powers. It can go haywire without control. From a young age, I had to be trained on how to control my wolf. Shadow was the strongest wolf in the entire pack. Having such a title was scary but also a privilege. Wi

Lucien’s POVEveryone that came with me stopped and stared at my mate that was before every one of us in the forest. There was no weapon in her hand and she looked confused. She looked at the dead people around her; her supposed kidnappers. Her hair was disheveled and her clothes were torn all over with some flesh showing. She glanced at me as I approached her in the middle of the dead bodies of her kidnappers. They were cut up so badly that some of their internals were out in the open.Staring at my mate, both I and Shadow were relieved. I had not gone close to her since the imprint and had even considered rejecting her, but with each step towards her I felt a strange way. When I got to her, I gave her my hand and she looked around the dead men around her again somewhat scared, glanced at the others behind me, then back to me and my hand.Reluctantly, she took my hand and stood to her feet. I smiled, but it was not up to a minute that I saw her eyes weaken and drain before it shut c

Aimee's POVI squeezed my face feeling a pang of a headache which was followed by a little groan. My hand flung to my head, rubbing my temples as I slowly opened my eyes. However, I had to shut it back because the light felt too bright. When I opened my eyes, for a minute, I could not remember what had happened. In fact, my brain was blank as I stared at the ceiling. After laying motionless for a couple of minutes staring , I suddenly remembered what I had seen a while ago and everything came flooding back to me.I was in a world I never thought existed, a pack. A wolf pack in a supernatural world called Nexus. I was mated to Lucien, my best friend's brother. He did not seem to like me, which I did not really mind. And then the invasion, The attack! I remembered that I was with Reine in her room when she heard Alec calling out to her.She did not leave until she told me to stay right where I was. I did not doubt her and waited but someone or something creeped in through the window. I

Aimee's POVI stayed in bed for a couple of days. All the whole Riene would come visit me but would leave the moment Lucien stepped into the room. Once he came, he always stayed for over two hours and sometimes until I was sleepy and needed to rest.I hated it! I didn't want to be around him and he had not apologized for what he did. Reine has been trying to excuse his behaviour and saying he was trying but I was not going to buy it. Yes, he was my mate but that does not mean anything. Just because we were mates does not mean I'll just accept him after being so stern. After two weeks, I was finally strong enough to move around and train to get to know my powers properly. For now, I had not told them that I had met with my wolf but it was fine they told me I was the white wolf. Practically, the same thing Menae had told me.“Try to understand him, I want to be with shadow, he is our mate” Menae said to me as she was also trying to make me not see Lucien as a jerkI had complained to h

Aimee's POVI did not want to think I was right. It was not it. He was only being nice and that was it. I tried to convince myself of that as I nodded and he moved away from me, sensing my discomfort. We had to stay away from each other for an hour before getting back to work.During that, I shoved that thought to the side as I might have misunderstood his way of explaining things to me. However, at the back of my mind, something told me that Isaac had been withdrawn since I knew him and never tried to get close to me in that manner so why did he do that?Another part of me tried to convince myself that we had spent a lot of time together so he was just being caring and nothing extra. I wanted to confront him about it, but what if I had misunderstood what he did and it caused a problem that should have never been there?I chose to bite my lips and continue with my training instead of thinking about such things. Isaac most definitely knew I was mated to Lucien and if he dared have such

Lucien's POVThere was a level of disrespect that I could take from anyone but this? This was betrayal and I hated betrayal. Everyone knew who Aimee was. Not only was she the white wolf but she was my mate and I have chosen to have her as my Luna.Isaac's nurturing love for her and even daring to confess and bring the idea of eloping into her head was just beyond anything I could take from anyone not even a man I thought I could trust and was my Beta.“Please, Alpha. I was just trying to-”“Guards!” I yelled in angerIt was only a matter of time before I could no longer take his presence before me. He was a traitor but I had a little relationship with him which was why I was only banishing him. He could live in other packs that were far away from here if they accepted him as he would no longer be anything but an Omega with him wandering around or better still go by himself to the human city he wanted to take my mate to.The guards came in but Reine and Alec joined them obviously after

Lucien’s POVI had been watching her for a few hours now. Since the moment she transformed and I saw her wolf form for the first time, Shadow was restless. It felt like the pull we had was more. We only locked eyes for a few minutes before she ran off for what was needed.I understood that because everyone did this, but it felt like it was a new thing now that she was the one to run off. I wanted to speak with her and be with her. I knew I loved her and I also knew it had nothing to do with the white wolf.It took me a while, but I have realized my feelings for her. It started from the very moment I saw her. I felt the pull. I felt my heart act out, but I stopped myself from understanding this feeling because I did not want to get married to a human.I thought she was going to weaken the pack with her blood. All the while my heart and Shadow kept stopping me from making stupid decisions and then I realised that she was not ordinary after all. I knew it was wrong to suddenly want her,

Lucien's POV I knew she was scared for our well-being. I too was scared as to what might be waiting for us when he got close to the pack. With each step we took, I could feel the dark aura of the dark forces all around the forest. It was thanks to the moon goddess that it did not spread to where we were able to camp. I knew what we were about to do was risky and we could not bring everyone with us so we did not gather much attention from anyone if any attack ensued, it meant we would not be able to protect ourselves very well.We walked a distance before we finally decided to stop. Our present location was at the peak of the aura of the dark forces. The aura was sucking up most of our energy. We had not worked for a while but it felt like we did and that was not good.So this was the plan. This was a way to weaken us so we would not be able to attack and defeat them. The dark Lord knows that he is no match for us. Our wolves were strong and with just a single bite they would die. Th

I could not sit and watch Lucien die.He was my life. Even if I died, he needed to live for his people, for Reine. With me, I doubted we would be able to save them. Lucien was the alpha. He had trained most of his life for this so if I could save him I took that chance. For two days, my entire body felt like I was hit and was under a truck. I could not move nor could I open my eyes. I was conscious but still, I could not do anything. I could still remember what I did last before falling unconscious and wanted to see him. Lucien's POV The moment that sword went through me, I lost every bit of strength I had. I knew the sword was not an ordinary sword. It was laced in wolf's bane. If it were ordinary swords, I would have been able to get back to my feet, but with the wolf's bane, it paralyzed me. I tried to get back on my feet and fight but I knocked to the ground. I tried to fight it and get back up but my body shook with my pain replaying in my mind again. I pushed it aside but still, I could not. No matter how much I tried to fight this, it felt like I was only pulling myself down. I could sense that we were losing. My people needed me. They needed their alpha. I kept telling myself to stand and to join in the fight until my body could no longer take it. Wolf's bane knew how to travel fast and knew how to paralyze every avenue for wolves to heal themselves. It was dangerous for us, as that was our vantage point. Something was not right in this attack. I had so many questions as to how the dark Lo

Aimee's POV I was frozen in that spot, my hand behind my back as the other covered my mouth. My heart was so close to thudding out of my chest, killing me before this general did. My stomach was turning into so much anxiety. I felt twigs snap, indicating the general was walking closer to me. No, no, no. I yelled in my head as I shut my eyes and felt the general get closer to me. “We need to meet the dark Lord now,” the leader of the generals yelled and I heard the general close to me sigh. I felt another whoosh of air and the general was no longer close to me. I heaved a sigh of relief, placing my hand on my chest as I slowly took another peek at them. They all walked into the castle, shutting the main door behind them as they did so. I sighed again, as our only refuge had been taken over. Slowly, I backed away from there, heading back towards the direction I had come from. Not long after running back, I spotted Lucien and his betas coming towards me. Lucien was barely able

Aimee's POVAll that happened so fast that I was not given the opportunity to even call out to him. The words got stuck in my throat as I watched them drive the sword into him, making sure the tip of the blade came forth from his stomach.Lucien flew his hand to the stomach as he paused. His eyes locked on mine for only a minute before he dropped to the ground and Alec took the head of the dark force that did that to Lucien. I was rooted to where I stood, unable to move.Everything happening around me felt like it was being slowed down and I could barely hear or concentrate. My soul felt like it was being crushed. Lucien stood in all fours, then placed his hand on the injured part of his stomach. His face was very red, with his veins popping out at both sides of his head. He clenched his teeth together. My heart rate accelerated just looking at him. I wanted to move. I tried to move but it felt like I was no longer in control of my own body. There was fire, chaos, blood stains, and de

We needed to eliminate them before they got close to Reine and the women. It was of utmost importance that we kept them safe. I clawed at their faces, disfiguring them as I took their eyes and lips.I clawed and swung at each and everyone of them as I moved. I eliminated most of the ones that crowded me and looked around. Lucien and his betas were busy with the dark forces that gathered them. Then I noticed five others running towards the guest room. Unfortunately, due to the outbreak of the illness, not much can be done.I and Lucien went down to the basement. He got to the side of the room, counting each step as he did so and on the twentieth step, he bent over and pushed the door down. A secret room came into view. Gradually, Lucien went in and on the second step, he gave me his hand to take.I did and we got into the room. It was a large space with a lot of food items but we needed more to be added to the stash. “I don't think this will be enough,” I saidThe pack was large. All the men would be at the battle field but the mother and children were still a lot and would not fit in here at once. Since this incident, he does not walk slowly but as though he was headed for war. I did not have an issue with it because it was needed for swift action to be taken at all times. I expected a lot of things. Maybe a letter from the border or a letter from the Oracle but I did not expect what I saw. When we got to the living room, Alec and Reine were already there staring at the man I had not seen for a while now. This should be more than three months since he was banished and thrown out of the pack. He looked thinner than what he was three months ago. The veins around his fingers were more visible but even though people could mistake his thin figure as weakness I could also tell he was stronger than when he left. Isaac, who was no longer dressed in his royal attire, stood there and bowed as Lucien got closer to him. Lucien did not spare him

Most of the pack members had fallen so sick that they could barely move a step without the help of someone. Both the pack hospital and the realm's biggest hospital have been flooded with lots of sick warewolves, and there is little manpower to attend to all of them. Some pack members have opted to go to the Oracle, but she was unable to help them. The pack was in chaos and disarray, as there were a lot of things that needed to be done but none had been done yet. The soldiers were dropping each day, and it was not helping the security of the pack.
