“Thank you for talking to me. I can't imagine what you went through and I’m so sorry I had no way to get over there to you. Katrina is the one who figured out that the amulet transported you. That’s when we got The Shadows to deliver a message to you, but it had already been three weeks by that time. We found out where The Others were operating and where a few of their bases were. We infiltrated them, killed a bunch of them, but never found you. Had I known the amulet could even possess that type of power, I would have said something about it being around your neck immediately. But I had no idea. Had I just said something sooner…” I said, and trailed off.
“Don’t you dare think like that, don’t even bear that guilt.” She said, as she stood up and put her hand out to me, helping me up as she turned off the water. We had been sitting in there for a while, and I was sure it was getting close to the hour mark when everyone would be coming back over for a debrief.
Once I stood up, I looked at Ambrosia in that tiny bikini, and I couldn’t help but realize that I had never actually seen her this exposed before. I mean, I had seen her in a bikini when I bought her, but I wasn’t paying attention to her body, just her wounds.
ve seen her in a tank top and shorts after quite a bit, but not really with this much skin showing. She was curvy in all the perfect places, and it was like I was just noticing her for the first time. Like I was really seeing her, everything about her.
Even with her hair soaking wet, and dripping water down her back, she was the most beautiful thing I had ever laid my eyes on. She definitely noticed me staring at her.
“Rowen?” She questioned. I snapped out of it, bringing my eyes to hers. “Yes, doll.” I said. “It’s nothing, never mind.” She said, and turned to walk out. I grabbed her arm and spun her back around, pulling her into my arms.
“You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.” I said, and then gently pressed my lips to hers. “I missed you so much!” She whispered against my lips. My heart melted at her words.
“I missed you too, doll. More than you could ever know.” I just held her tightly before reluctantly letting go. We had to get dressed, everyone would be here soon and we had things to discuss.
Once she was dressed back in normal clothes, none of that neon 90’s bullshit that I swore I would definitely ask her about later, we headed downstairs. Rosa practically barreled me over to get to Ambrosia.
“Oh, honey, you’re back! I have missed you so much” Rosa cried, throwing her arms around Ambrosia. I smiled and thought back, realizing that Rosa never spoke to Ivy like that. In fact, I don’t think Rosa ever really liked Ivy from the start. She may have a sixth sense, that woman.
“I missed you too!” Ambrosia replied. “I’m making dinner for all of you as we speak! It’s so good to have you home!” Rosa said while she wandered off to the kitchen. “It’s really good to be home.” Ambrosia said, softly.
It wasn’t long before everyone started showing up. Nico was first with Amethyst, then Ramses, Katrina and Jade. Raziel came next with Rayne, and then Raphael came with a woman none of us had ever met.
She was beautiful though, of course. She was built much like Ambrosia, but her hair was black and flowing down her back. She had seafoam eyes and a shiny silver collar on.
I laughed inside because I knew he was going to cave and buy a pet. I figured we could do introductions later. Everyone took a seat in my sitting room while we waited for Rosa to finish with dinner prep.
Ambrosia took the stage, choosing to stand while she spoke. She explained to everyone the same thing she explained to me, and more. She spoke about her time in Pandora’s Box.
She spoke about how the trans-dimensional travel sickness almost killed her when she arrived there, but how strange it was that when she came home she wasn’t sick at all. She spoke about the creatures that existed there, the monsters that she had risked her life night after night avoiding.
She spoke of Hilda, and her home there. She spoke of Dominik and Andres, their powers and their weaknesses. She spoke of the landscape, the colors, the clothes. She didn’t leave any detail out.
Come to find out, she did get pretty close with Dominik which made my insides burn. I hated that he had his filthy hands on her, even if just for a moment. She said she couldn't ever seem to break through to Andres, but Dominik had a soft spot for her.
Not that they had really done anything, but he definitely was not 100% with his brother, when it came to her. I vaguely remembered him cursing under his breath about his brother stabbing her during all the commotion, and it made me wonder what would have happened had he not stabbed her.
We may still have the amulet, but Dominik would have had Ambrosia. That was not a fate I wished upon her, or anyone really. He may be the good side of the Archangel… But he was still an Archangel, and he still was banished to the box.
Rosa had just called us to come eat when Ambrosia stopped suddenly. “Did you feel that?” She asked. Everyone went dead silent and stopped in their tracks. “Feel what?” Raphael said. And then it happened, a low rumble from below our feet.
It seemed to go on for a few minutes, rumbling and shaking but not enough to knock anything off the walls or shelves. It was more like the earth was groaning, or shifting. It made an eerie sound that echoed through our home, infiltrating the ears of everyone present. Then, just as quickly as it came, it was gone.
“That!” She cried. Everyone started murmuring but no one knew what it was. “What is it?” I asked her. “It’s trans-dimensional travel. The twins, they must have opened the box!” She cried.
“Are you sure that’s what it does?” I asked her. “I’m positive… 100% positive.” She said, and she walked towards the door, opening it slowly. Everyone followed, unsure of what we were about to see.
Gasps escaped everyone's lips as they followed her outside into what seemed like an entire new world. The nighttime we had known and been familiar with for multiple millennia’s now reflected something new.
Neon colored planets floating in the sky. The lack of a moon, and the bioluminescence covered plants and trees that were not there prior flooded the land. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen in my entire life, and the most terrifying. Ambrosia turned and looked at me with fear in her eyes. “They didn’t just open the box, they transported their realm into ours.” She said, as a single tear fell from her eye.
I pulled her into my arms and just stared at the scenery in front of me. “This is only the beginning.” Ambrosia said, turning to look out at the scenery unfolding around us.
Just then I realized that the woman that came with Raphael had stepped off my front porch and wandered clear out into my yard. She was admiring all of the bioluminescence in the plants and trees around when Ambrosia pushed out of my arms and took off on a dead run towards her.
Everything that happened next seemed to happen in slow motion. I heard a screech that was so loud it hurt my ears. I instinctively pressed my hands to my ears and watched as everyone else did the same.
I looked up just in time to see Ambrosia slam into the small woman, wrapping her arms around her and tumbling off to the side just as a huge clawed talon broke through the trees and snatched a huge section of the ground where she just stood in its grasp.
Panicked, I attempted to materialize to them when I realized that Ambrosia and the girl were back in my sitting room. They tumbled in as if they were still tumbling from outside and slammed into the wall next to the entryway for the kitchen.
Ambrosia ignored all of us that had run back inside, wide eyed, and she crawled over to the girl who seemed to be unconscious. “C’mon, c’mon, c’mon, wake up. You didn’t hit your head that hard, c’mon.” She said to the girl.
But I could see the blood running from her temple down her face. Just then Raphael broke through the crowd and grabbed the girl in his arms, placing his hand on her head, healing her.
She started to come to, and she scrambled out of Raphael's arms. “I’m sorry, master, I-I didn’t know what was out there.” She stammered. She was definitely a new pet. Raphael stood, holding his hand out for her.
“It’s ok, Topaz.” He said softly, and helped her up, adjusting her collar and wiping the blood from her temple.
Then he turned to Ambrosia who’s heartbeat still hadn’t returned to normal.
“Thank you for saving her.” He said. “Of course.” She replied. Raziel was the next to speak.
“Ambrosia, do you mind telling us just how in the fuck you knew that was there… And then explaining how you materialized both yourself and Topaz here, back to safety with no amulet?”
His eyebrow was raised and I could tell he was completely confused.
But he wasn’t the only one confused.
Chapter 5I think we all were confused at this point. A Human doing magic? And how did us, supernatural creatures with superior senses, not see the creature? Or hear it, until it was too late? Or would have been too late. All questions burning in our throats. “Ok, so first thing is first, I have no idea how I materialized us. I don’t have the amulet, and honestly I just did the same thing I have been doing for the past three months. I thought of safety, and then we were here. So how I did it, with no magic, and only being Human, is beyond me. Secondly, when you’ve lived in Pandora’s Box for three months, you start to recognize the signs of danger. These creatures are stealthy. They never make themselves known until it’s time to attack. By then it’s too late for their prey to escape. I saw the trees moving, I heard the wings flapping, and I knew she only had seconds. I honestly wasn’t even sure if I would make it in time, but I had to try. That creature was an Alicanto. There aren’t a
Chapter 6I turned back to the creature. “Is that true?” I asked him. “It is, we have been speaking in Whisper. It’s a long lost Fae language and has been dead for longer than it ever existed.” He replied. “How is it that I know this language? I have never spoken it, and I feel like I’m only speaking my own language right now.” I stammered. “Have them release me, I will show you.” He said. “If you hurt me, they will kill you.” I warned. “I know, they may still kill me. But I need to show you this first.” He replied. I looked back at Rowen. “It’s ok, he will not hurt me. Let him go and get to safety!” I commanded. All of the Reavers immediately dropped their fireballs, as if they were forced to, and then materialized back to the porch with everyone else. “Well that was easy.” I said. The creature laughed. “Yes, because you used magic on them. They had to listen.” He said. I gasped. “I didn’t even realize I did it!” I cried, watching as the creature stood from the ground, towering me
Chapter 7(Raphael)Watching Ambrosia tame that beast was one thing. I had seen much crazier shit in my lifetime. But feeling the force of magic that was used to command us all to stop holding it down and materialize to safety… Now that was something completely different. Talk about violation of basically everything. One minute I'm helping hold a beast, the next minute I’m materialized onto the porch and confused as fuck as to why I just did any of that. It’s not everyday that there is something with more power than a Reaver… And honestly, I didn’t like it. Luckily everyone had the same feelings of confusion, but no one could tear their eyes from what we were seeing. Ambrosia looked as if she were sucking in the bioluminescence around her. I never noticed it until we were far enough away to actually see it, but it looked like it was drawn to her. Or she was pulling it into her as she moved. I grabbed a hold of Topaz and pulled her close. She flinched when I touched her, but she's no
Chapter 8I instantly closed the gap between us, causing her to jump back, but I reached out and held my hand against the small of her back to steady her. She gasped slightly but tried not to let me know she was terrified. I could feel her fear swirling around me like a tornado, and the instinct to just feed from her without warning was so strong. It was as if I was hyper aware of everything she was doing. I could hear every breath, pinpoint every shift in her eyes, and feel her blood pulsing. “Don’t hate me, but we need to get something out of the way.” I purred, while tracing my fingers along the side of her neck over her silver collar. It was almost torture waiting to sink my fangs in, but the way she stiffened in my arms had me feeling almost bad… Almost. “I-is it going to hurt bad?” She whimpered softly. I pulled back some and we locked eyes. “No, not really at all actually. I think you’ll find it somewhat pleasurable.” I said, and then I sank my fangs into the side of her nec
Chapter 9(Rowen)After listening to Ambrosia explain what happened to her while she was out there with that beast, things started falling together in my mind. I wasn’t sure of anything really, but it almost seemed like Dominik was going against his brother. I remember clearly when he decided he was going to separate his good and bad sides. It was something that everyone warned him about, and he just didn’t listen. The repercussions of splitting your good and bad side could be catastrophic… Especially when you’re a fucking Archangel, and harness that much power. Once the ritual was complete that efficiently split the sides, it turned Azrael into Dominik and Andres. Andres being the bad side. Together they wrecked havoc unlike anything we had seen. Destroying species, plotting to gain control of territories, tormenting the supernatural world in more ways than one. Then one day they were just gone… No one really knew what happened to them. Word around the underworld was they went to a
Chapter 10I rolled off her and sat on the edge of the bed for a second just catching my breath before I turned back to look at her. “You are so fucking amazing.” I purred, pulling her over to me and holding her in my arms. “I think we made quite the mess.” She said, laughing. I looked at where she was just lying and laughed too. But there was quite a bit of blood there, which surprised me. “Are you sure you're ok? That looks like a lot of blood.” I said. She just laughed. “I’m sure… I’m fine, but your sheets aren’t fine.” She said. “Eh, fuck those sheets, youre sleeping in my room tonight anyways. Rosa will change them and get the stains out. She's amazing at that.” I said. She nodded, and then we both got up and headed into her shower. “Do you want me to heal you? I can heal you.” I said, noting that she was walking a little slower. “No… I don’t need you to. I will be fine.” She said. “Ok, well if you change your mind, you just say something.” I said, eyeballing her as a warning.
Chapter 11(Raziel) I didn’t say much when Ambrosia was talking, but I never really do. I’m more of a stay in the background and assess the situation type of person. However, no assessment was to my liking. The fact that Ambrosia was able to control us was really bothering me. What fucking type of magic could she possess that would allow that? No other supernatural creature could even touch our magic… Well, maybe besides a Pyromancer. But even they couldn’t control us. It only meant one thing… If she changed sides for whatever reason, we were fucked. I wanted to say she would never do that. I could see the way she looked at my brother anytime he stepped foot in the room. The longing glances, the way she hung on his every word… The way she shined when she was sitting in his lap. Everything she did was to ensure that he was happy. There was no doubt she loved him. Pet or not. I knew how strong love could be first hand. I just hoped that it
Chapter 12I was definitely interested as I sat back in my seat kicking my feet up on the chair in front of me. So my theory was right… The reel played on to show Andres destroying the physical Pandora's Box and Ambrosia dying with its destruction. I’ll give it to whoever sent me these outcomes, they were nothing if not thorough. I watched my brother, Rowen, run to Ambrosia’s dying body, taking her into his arms. I could see and hear his pain through his facial expressions and his stammered words. I could then feel the pain in his chest to my very core. I watched as he lost the most important woman in his life. I watched as she faded before his eyes and there was nothing any of us could do to stop it. His desperation reminded me deeply of parts of his Human life. While Rowen never lost anyone dear to him like my other brothers, Rowen never had anyone in his life to lose. That same despair he felt, the dame despair I was feeling now, was all too familiar when I recalled his Human lif
Chapter 49Ambrosia placed the six of us around the small altar style setup she had with the mushrooms and the lake water from her room, plus a few other tools. Once we were all exactly where she wanted us, she started speaking in that Archaic Fae language that no one but Azrael could understand. She kept chanting a series of sentences and she mixed the mushrooms she had previously crushed up, into the lakewater, and then drank some. She passed it to Raziel who was closest to her. He followed suit, and passed it to Raphael, who was next to him. We passed the jar until everyone of the six of us had ingested some. Then Ambrosia stood and turned her hand palm up, but this time she summoned the amulet instead of her Box. Once she had the amulet floating just above her hand she clasped both hands over it and started chanting something entirely different than what she started with. It was still in the Archaic Fae language, so I had no idea what she was saying, but the amulet in her hand w
Chapter 48(Rowen) I could hear everything Ambrosia was saying, and of course, I heard when she said that Azrael and I should speak to one another. As much as I despised that dirty Angel nowadays, I didn't always feel this way. Believe it or not, we were friends once. I had the feeling that if we never got past this it would be a miserable rest of our lives. Neither of us can die, and we were both clearly in love with the same woman. Ambrosia left the room with a snicker on her lips, and I figured it was now or never. "You know that this is going to be a long rest of our lives when none of us can die." I said, and I saw Azrael smile. "You don't have to worry. I do not plan to pursue Ambrosia. I know she belongs to you, and for the first time, I will respect that." He said. I was taken aback, I couldn't believe he said that. He definitely has grown in the last millennia. "I'm speechless. I didn't expect you to say that." I replied honestly. “I’m sure there is a lot you wouldn’t exp
Chapter 47When morning came, Rowen and I got ready for the day and ate breakfast, before he mind linked his brother's and Nico. I had to go to my realm to get Azrael, but that wouldn't take long. The meeting was set for noon, and everyone so far was down to come discuss the amulet. I had told Rowen to keep my idea and re-forming The Keepers a secret. I wanted to tell them all myself. We had discussed the ritual and the process in depth while we waited. I think it was more of me going through it out loud, than actually discussing it, but it helped at least. This was nerve wracking, and I couldn’t afford to mess things up. When it was finally close enough for me to go to my realm and get Azrael, I kissed Rowen goodbye. I knew I would see him again in a few minutes, but still. I would never get enough of this man. I called my Box forward and touched it, transporting me to my realm. This time though, it transported me to Hilda’s. It was night time and Azrael was on the couch watching a
Chapter 46(Ambrosia) I left my realm feeling powerful. Like I was in charge, but in essence I was. I was in control of an entire realm. The feeling of being Pandora never really set in, but after what Azrael did, it was starting too. It made me think about the way the creature of the night treated me while I was there. And I noticed that while I was there with Azrael, the creatures didn't bother us. It had to be because I am Pandora now, and there is a different level of respect and magic that comes with the title. I had never been anything my whole life, just a Human who’s family made a stupid mistake and caused my life to be a living hell until I was purchased by Rowen. I had never been a leader, never been in charge of anything before. And now I had my own realm, and an Archangel to help protect it. It made me wonder if we should build an army of sorts, train warriors to protect our realm. I realized also that we could send anyone to my realm to live there. It didn't have to be
Chapter 45(Azrael)I could see a spark of fear flash through Demitri’s eyes as I sauntered towards him in my full form. The last time I spoke with him was the day he did the ritual that split me in two. Andres and I then promptly killed him afterwards, but apparently, he didn’t die. I knew that he was the head of The Others. He wasn’t just a Vampire either, no… He was a Vampire/Witch Hybrid but it didn't end there. He was an enhanced Vampire/Witch Hybrid. He was more powerful than a regular Hybrid due to the enhancements, but he was still able to be killed. So, this had me wondering what exactly those enhancements did to enable him to have survived the brutal slaughter he endured at the hands of myself and my brother. I will tell you, we were not kind… And we definitely didn’t leave anything behind. His magic was powerful, I will give him that. “You, of all people, should know that I'm a little harder to kill than that…” Demitri said, with a sly smile. “I know this now, but you wil
Chapter 44I looked up at Azrael, noting that his chocolate brown hair was falling beautifully on his face, before speaking what was on my mind. “We have been looking for The Others for a while now. The whole reason any of this even happened was because Katrina fell in love with Rowen, and gave him the amulet for safekeeping. However, she didn’t tell him what it was, he just thought it was a necklace. Well, Rowens mate of 176 years was working with The Others the entire time they were together… Once he found out a few months ago, he killed her. That’s what started this whole thing. He put the amulet on me, not realizing it could transport me if I were in danger. The Others tried to capture me, causing the amulet to send me here for safe keeping. He’s been hunting The Others ever since. We have succeeded in killing one of them, and then ransacked a warehouse, eliminating a bigger crew… But we know they have numbers that we don’t even realize. It's exhausting, honestly.” I explained. A
Chapter 43"I want to merge my pack lands and your coven lands." She said, and then paused, giving me a second to comprehend her ask. "Merge them? As in make them one and the same, rather than divided?" I asked, mostly clarifying if that is indeed what she meant. She nodded. I knew she could hear my thoughts, my doubts at the alliance holding, my surprise that she would try to take on this big of a task. But I also knew she could feel my absolute pride in her for taking a step and trying to make changes that no one has ever done before her. "I know it has never been done. I know that every species has their own lands and they usually stick to their own kind, at least for the most part… But Beta Sean's twins are Hybrids. And they have to hide their abilities from everyone because of the old ways. The old rules are terrible but followed still, and no children should ever have to deal with that. If I was able to successfully merge the pack and your covens, can you imagine the strength w
Chapter 42(Raziel)“I miss you too, darling. We have been pouring over these files for hours and still have nothing. This was a waste of time, but we couldn’t leave any stone unturned. Get some rest, I will be home as soon as I can.” I purred to Rayne through the mind link, before returning to my stack of paperwork. I took both of my hands, rubbing them over my face and into my hair as I sat up straighter trying to assess the mound of papers in front of me. It had been hours and still, we had come up with nothing. The Others were as careful as they were clever when hiding shit. The only thing we found was proof that they were hireable hitmen. Besides that, these papers were nothing more than receipts and money laundering documentation. All illegal as hell, but nothing that could help us figure out their plans or locate the rest of them. Taking out one of their buildings was like crashing a car of someone who owns ten more. A small dent in their status and that was it. It was infuri
Chapter 41I wandered upstairs to my room to change. I was still wearing the funky 90s outfit that I had on from my closet back home. I knew Rowen was not that impressed with the style. He would rather have something modern on me, and rose gold, of course. I carefully removed each piece of clothing, hanging them back up in my closet together before picking out something else to wear instead. I grabbed a rose gold sundress and threw it on. I probably should have washed my other clothes before hanging them after everything I did while I was wearing them. But I decided it could wait. For now, it made me feel better to just see them hanging next to my other set that I was wearing when I came back here for the first time. It was like a small piece of home resided here, and it helped calm the nagging pull, if only just the slightest bit. My thoughts of Pandora’s Box, of my Box, flooded through my mind as I reminisced. I had just left, I hadn’t even been gone that long but, honestly, it fe
