Chapter 16

I ran my finger down her spine causing her whole body to tense as cold chills raced over her skin. I pulled out of her and zipped my pants back up. I then snapped and Cherry was instantly tied back up against the bedpost. Exactly where she was when I originally came into the room.

I walked over to her and pressed my lips to hers softly. “Good fucking girl.” I whispered against her lips, and then we locked eyes. I could see a mixture of emotions flowing through them, and I knew she was hooked.

I flashed her a million dollar smile, then grabbed the whip from the bed and tossed it to my brother who was drinking rose gold colored brandy from a glass. He caught the whip from the air and snapped it to his side while downing the rest of his brandy.

“Tag, you’re it.” I said with a grin. Rowen let out a chuckle. “I think she likes you, brother.” He said with a shit eating grin on his face. I turned back around and saw that Cherry was watching my every move.

“They always do, broth

Chapter 17I started to panic and rushed over to her. I pulled her into my arms, slapping her face trying to wake her up, but it was no use… She wasn’t coming out of this. I knew it had to be a ritual of some sort. My only comfort was that Haven was dead with the ritual dagger in her body for hours before we took it out, and she still woke up. But without knowing what Katrina did, taking the dagger out early could be a real death sentence. I couldn't risk it. I did the first thing I could think of, I materialized directly into TwentyOne, causing the guests to gasp at my arrival. Kember saw me first and angrily stalked over. “Ramses! How many times have I told you not to do that here?!” She hollered. But she stopped as soon as she got close enough to take in my appearance. Besides my perfect hair, I was a fucking trainwreck. Shirtless, and covered in blood. I’m sure I looked insane. “Oh my god, what happened to you?!” Kember cried, and instantly Kiera came rushing out from the back w

Chapter 18“I’m looking for a Witch named Katrina. This is her pub in our world. I thought she might be here.” I replied. “Ah, Katrina. I know her… Well, we spoke earlier today.” The bartender said. My eyes lit up. “You spoke to her? Did she say where she was going??” I inquired. “Well, she said she was looking for The Ancestors.” The bartender explained. “I am also looking for them. Do you have any idea where she may have gone?” I asked. “I’m sorry my boy, I don’t know. She didn’t talk much, she seemed very determined though.” She replied. “That's ok. Thank you for your help, and the drink.” I said throwing back the black brandy and leaving my glass on the bar. I got up and headed out the door, determined to follow whatever footsteps I assumed Katrina would take. The next place I went was the French Quarter. The same place where the Human sacrifice had happened just days ago. I wasn’t sure what I would find, but it was worth a shot. I materialized there and I took in the sight. Th

Chapter 19(Katrina)I didn’t want to leave Ramses. In fact, I wanted to run straight into his arms and never leave after all of this stress with my magic and The Ancestors. An eventful night with Ramses is what I really needed. But I was too determined to fix this and too stubborn to ask for help. So, I left. I left Ramses, and I went home to gather my tools. Then I set up my altar in my sacred space just past the forest line behind my house. The Ancestors had to hear me out, right? I told myself they would allow it if I was pleading my case, and not trying to use magic for selfish reasons. I mean, getting my magic back, I guess, was a selfish reason… But they had to listen, I was a born Witch! I had more power than a turned Witch… That had to mean something… Right? I scattered my ritual tools around my circle, cast it, and then sat inside. I called out to The Ancestors and pleaded my case but I was met with deaf ears. They did not want to hear me. “Look, I know I fucked up. I kn

Chapter 20I pondered her face for a moment. I wonder why she seemed sad. Unless she knows something I didn’t know? It doesn’t matter, I didn’t have time to worry about it, really. I knew the longer you were here when you weren’t supposed to be, the harder it would be to leave. I had visited TwentyOne and I was ready to head to the Hollow Forest. I turned and headed outside, making my way to the forest clearing. The path to the Hollow Forest was a secret that only the Witches were supposed to know. The rumors of how to get there have escaped, of course, but very few were ever actually able to find it. They say that a Witch who was born into the craft will have a sort of intuition that will guide them when the time comes. I was just hoping that The Ancestors didn’t take that away too. I headed into the forest and noted how The Shadows seemed to dance around the trees. It was eerie, like everything else in this awful place. I couldn’t wait to get out of here. Well, I hoped I was able

Chapter 21I sat down in front of the tree and cast a circle. Without tools, this was seemingly difficult. I just had to trust that calling the quarters and putting my intention out there was going to be enough. I knew I didn’t have magic, and I knew The Ancestors were not wanting to hear my plea… But the fact that I came all the way to the other side, and found the twisted tree had to count for something… Right? I was really hoping that The Ancestors would see how far I've come and decide to hear me out. Once my circle was cast I tried to call The Ancestors again. My heart flipped in my chest when I felt them respond to my call. “Please, hear me out. Let me in, I need to at least try to plead my case.” I begged. I could tell they were weary, but everything I had done must have made some sort of impression because a portal appeared at the base of the twisted tree. It was oblong, swirling with black matter and intertwined with purples and blues. I closed the circle. “Thank you.” I s

Chapter 22(Katrina)I tried to scream for Ramses, but The Ancestors threw me from the other side into the strange realm between worlds, the place where I was at first. I was back at my house, only my body wasn’t outside in the forest anymore. The time was different here than on The Otherside, and I honestly had no idea how much time had actually passed. I noticed that my altar was cleaned up and my ritual tools and herbs were no longer scattered around. My sisters must have cleaned it all up.I wandered through the clearing into my backyard, and noticed that the lights in my house were on. I could see shadows bustling about and figured it was just my sisters. I headed to my backdoor and opened it.When I walked inside I was surprised to see Raphael sitting on my couch reading a book. He had his arm around a younger looking brunette with crazy curls. I didn't recognize her, but I had only just met Raphael and didn't know anything about him.He looked extremely stressed and it had me wo

Chapter 23I sat there on the bed while silent tears streamed down my face. I racked my brain thinking of any possible way we could save Ramses. We could make another deal… We could send someone else down there to take his place. I could go back and exchange myself for him. There had to be a way. Maybe we could break him out, somehow bring him back with us? My attempts were futile though, nothing seemed like an actual feasible option. I stood from the bed and just then realized that Rowen was still in there with me. He had been deathly silent and I hadn’t even noticed him there while I wept silently. I looked at Rowen and I was thankful that he was still there, actually. It was better than being alone. He stood and walked over to me. I looked up and met his gaze. I could see understanding in his rose gold eyes. He touched the side of my face, much like he had when I was still dead and in between realms. His touch made me shudder involuntarily. “We are going to get through this, howe

Chapter 24I watched intently as the blood remained pooled for longer than usual. Or at least it seemed that way. I didn’t even realize I was holding my breath until the blood started to form a line and I exhaled. “Ok, it worked. Now we just see where the line stops and that is the direct spot for the portal.” I mumbled. The blood went directly to a spot quite far from us on the map. It looked like this was close to a river, and stopped. Then another line came from the pool of blood and went to a completely different spot, close to us this time. Then another line came from the pool. When it finally stopped there were six lines with six end points, all in a sort of jagged circle. “What does that mean?” Kiera stated, she had never seen anything like it before. “This either means all six points have to be activated at once to create the portal… Or the portal is not stationary. Depending on the moon it will change places. It would be luck of the draw to catch it at the exact place and e

Chapter 57“Ramses. Hey baby.” Katrina’s silky voice reverberated through my head as my eyes fluttered open slowly. It took me a moment to gather my bearings. Everything was blurry, I felt like I hadn’t opened my eyes in weeks and the light was burning them. “Titan?” I mumbled. “I’m here man!” He replied back in my head. “Oh thank god, I thought you were gone forever.” I murmured. “I told you I would be here!” He replied. I just nodded my head. “Ramses.” Katrina said. I opened my eyes again and tried to focus on her. “Huh? I replied back. She let out a breath I don’t think she was aware she was holding. After a moment things started to clear up and I was able to focus on Katrina’s beautiful face. I smiled at her. “Oh, darlin.” I said, and I sat up and pulled her into my arms. “Ramses, I’m so glad you’re back!” Katrina said, and she held me tightly. I kissed the top of her head and then I looked around. “Darlin, why are we on the floor in the living room?” I asked with a smile. “Re

I pulled away from her, and grabbed her hips, lifting her off me as I stood up. “Did I upset you?” She asked softly. “No, darlin, you’re absolutely perfect. I’m just not in the right mindset for this right now. I’m sorry.” I said, and I turned and walked away, leaving her standing there in shock. “You ok man? I can’t believe you turned her down… I mean, I get it, but… DAMN.” Titan howled. “I know, ugh… Dude I can't get Katrina out of my mind. This shit is ridiculous. I know she needs to be with Rowen. I'm no good for her. I don't deserve her, and I never have. But for the life of me I can’t even fuck someone else right now and not feel guilty about it. I just feel guilty. This fucking sucks. I just want to stay here, with you, with all these women and fuck them all. And I can’t even accomplish that.” I said. I know I was complaining, but fuck, this shit was

It’s like the higher up we go the more damage there is.” Titan growled back. “We only have 1 more floor left dude. As much as I don’t want to leave you, because you are bad ass as fuck, my friend… I have to get back to Katrina.” I said to my Wolf. “What was she crying about earlier anyways?” I asked Titan. “Oh, you saw that?” Titan said sheepishly. “Well by accident, I came around the corner to tell Katrina something and saw her crying holding onto you. I thought it was better to let her be, so I just turned around and kept working.” I said. “Oh, yea… Well, she was just having a hard time with Rowen leaving soon. You know, the usual.” Titan said. “You’re hiding something, I can tell.” I said. My Wolf rolled his eyes at me. “Well she watched the memory of you and Rowen, when you asked him to promise you that he would take

Chapter 54“This is a good sign! It means he's slowly coming out of his coma. He must be working on the last floor in his mind.” I said out loud, hoping that this distraction would help everyone to forget about why I came back so soon. We could chalk it off as a random occurrence.I let out a sigh of relief. As much as I was going to miss Rowen, I really wanted Ramses back. I was starting to come to terms with Rowen being gone, and I figured now was as good a time as any to talk to him about it all.“Rowen, can we talk for a while?” I asked him. “Of course, doll. Where would you like to go?” He asked, taking my hand in his and kissing the back of it.“We will be back in a little while, please mind link Rowen if Ramses wake’s up… But I am guessing it won't be for a little while longer.” I said to Raziel, more than anyone. He nodded to me and then turned back to Kember, who was sitting on his lap. I turned back to Rowen. “There is a forest that lines the river downtown. Let's go walk the

I can only hope that she can accept me the way I am… Because you know as well as I do that I will never change. I can’t be committed, I can't just have one woman. I just… you know me. And I hope she can understand how I am. Those other bitches will never shine in comparison to Katrina. She's like a goddess among peons when it comes to any other woman. But I will tell you, I will never stop fighting for her attention, her love, her affection. Never.” Ramses said. Rowen was just smiling, drinking rose gold brandy. “I need something from you though, brother.” Ramses said. “Oh? And what would that be?” Rowen said. Ramses went to his brother and put his hand on his shoulder. “If anything were to happen to me… I need you to promise to look out for Katrina. She deserves only the best, and I know in my absence you are the next best thing for her.” R

If I watch every single memory we would never get this done. “Titan?” I called out for Ramses’ Wolf as he had disappeared somewhere. Instead, I was greeted by a pair of large hands grabbing me and lifting up. “Katrina! Darlin, how are you here!?” Ramses said, as he wrapped me in a bear hug. Titan bounded around the corner just in time to see our lips meet. “Ramses! I’m so happy to see you!” I said, after he let me down and I caught my breath. “I’m sorry I haven’t made it back yet, there’s been so much fuckery here. Titan and I have been cleaning for hours and we still aren’t close to done. I’m afraid it’s going to take longer than I originally thought.” He said. “You've been in a coma for a week.” I said softly. Ramses looked at me with confusion on his face. “What? A week?? How?” He said. “Time, it must be different here. I don’t know.” I replied. “How long do you have here with me,

Chapter 51The elevator door opened on floor 3 to reveal men and women dressed in peacock feathers, and that was about it. They were wandering the spaces between the other areas and it looked like each area was a different theme. I saw girls dancing choreography. I saw acting and plays, role playing, improvisation. It seemed like every section was something different. Multiple times on this floor I had women run up to me and try to pull me into their areas to help with whatever it was they were doing at the time. I had to politely decline and keep on track. It could be so distracting in here, I didn’t see how Ramses got anything accomplished with all these women trying to stop him all the time. I just ignored everyone and found the elevator but it was already going up, it was on floor 11 when it stopped. “Strange… I thought I was the only one using the elevator. It seemed that each of the men and women stayed on their respective floors. I could be wrong, but I just hadn’t seen anyo

Chapter 50We stayed in the ocean for a few more hours just enjoying eachothers company before materializing back to my house. We then hopped in the shower and got ready for bed. We were lying down on my bed and I was next to Ramses but tangled in Rowens arms. Our getaway was really great, but now it was back to real life and I was once again thinking of ways to help Ramses. Then I had an idea! What if we tethered myself to Ramses? He doesn’t have any protection in his mind so I could access it easily. I might be able to access the damaged parts and possibly help put them back together? “Rowen! What if we tethered myself to Ramses? I could go into his mind and possibly help find the damaged parts and fix them.” I said, sitting up out of bed and straddling Rowen so he had to listen to me and couldn’t get away. I saw a flash of something in his eyes, but I wasn’t sure just what it was. “Katrina, It could work. Is there a way to get you back after a certain timeframe if it doesn't?” R

  • The Reaver Chronicles: Ramses (Book 3)   Chapter 49

Chapter 49(Katrina)It had been a week since Ramses went into his coma after we severed the tether. I still had hope that he could come out of this. I knew healing would take time, and in his own mind there may have been a lot more damage than we expected. I had no idea what was happening inside Ramses’ mind, but I hoped he was able to fix it. We had never done anything like this before, and so we honestly had no idea what to expect. I was extremely grateful for Rowen. He stayed with me this entire time, never leaving me alone. I knew he didn’t want to stay, he wanted to cut ties with me the night Ramses went into his coma. But once he didn’t wake up, Rowen couldn’t bear to leave me alone. I don’t think I could ever repay him, honestly. The week was spent mostly stressing about Ramses and how to help him heal. His brothers visited every couple of days to check on him, and try and heal him but it didn’t seem to work. Their type of healing worked on the body, not the mind, apparentl
