Viviana's eyes gleamed with a sinister light as she pulled out her phone and dialed a number. "Someone will be here soon," she said, her voice dripping with malice. "And then, you'll be gone."

Valerie knew she had to act fast. She tried to free herself, but Viviana was too strong. In a desperate bid to escape, Valerie struggled and kicked, but Viviana was ready for her. With a swift motion, Viviana brought the gun handle down on Valerie's head, sending her crashing to the ground.

Valerie's vision blurred, and she felt a wave of pain wash over her. She knew she couldn't give up. She remembered her mother's words, echoing in her mind: "You're strong, Valerie. You can get through anything."

With newfound determination, Valerie's hands instinctively went to the nurse's shirt pocket. Her fingers closed around a pair of scissors, and she pulled them out. With a swift motion, she jabbed the scissors into Viviana's leg, just above the knee.

PresentValarie sat on the kitchen table, her dark eyes staring down blankly at the plate of food in front of her. She seemed lost in thought, with her mind still reeling from the event. Just as she figured she'd drown in her emotions, Elara's voice suddenly broke through the fog. That pulled Valarie back to reality."Valarie, why are you not eating?" Elara asked, furrowing her brows with concern.Valarie looked confused and blinked rapidly; then she lowered her eyes to her plate, haphazardly staring at it for who-knows-how-long and not noticing it."I... I just wasn't hungry, I guess." She stammered while trying to hide the fact that she was lost in thought.Elara unimpressively raised her eyebrows and clearly endorsed it. "You need to eat, Valarie," she said, every syllable containing steel. "You can't just skip meals and expect to feel okay."Valarie sighed. Elara was right about it. Picking up her fork now, she began eating with her thoughts pushed aside, trying to be now-in-the-m
