- Peter -
Peter looked around at the destruction, sure it must have been Lucifer's victory. Still, he was wary, watching every corner he could, keeping his blade ready to strike at anytime. Hearing something getting closer Peter pointed his sword in the sound's direction, frightening the resistance soldier that came to meet him.
The soldier gripped each arm's wrist with the opposite hand, a sign meant to show non-aggression.
"I'm a resistance soldier. This floor is mostly cleared out already. Lucifer and our leader are down in the pleasure district finishing the mission."
Peter wasn't taking any chances. He would need more proof from the man before him before he lowered his guard even slightly.
"I'm gonna need more proof than your word. I was attacked on my way in here, so forgive me for my skepticism." Peter's tone showed a clear distrust.
The resistance sol
- Death and Lucifer -Lucifer explained everything that happened from when he spoke with Kahvis to his use of grand finale on the business district. Kahvis had left with their team to find out the casualties. The team stayed outside of the tavern while Lucifer and Death discussed inside."That's everything." Lucifer said, sitting across from Death in the tavern.Death gave a judgemental stare. His displeasure with Lucifer's actions was only barely outweighed by his relief that his friend is okay. He felt himself caught in-between two lines of thinking: yelling at Lucifer for his recklessness, and cautioning him to be more careful. He decided on the latter."You started a war because of an unknown you just met, nearly killed yourself by flying straight into an explosive barrage, and you think that's it for your explanation?" Death reprimanded."We won, I lived, so don't act high-a
- Satan -(Far into the past)Satan stands across an exhausted Moloch and Baal who were leaning on their weapons for leverage. The battlefield around them is littered with black and red demon corpses. This was one of many battles the three had with one key difference this time around."For the last time, you lose." Satan insulted.Moloch and Baal were covered in bloodstained black armor. Baal was missing an arm, Moloch his leg. The two decided to remain adamant even in what was certainly their final moments."You think this is over? It ain't over till you slaughter every last one of our kind!" Baal yelled."It doesn't end here. If you think our commanders will just sit back and let you be the demon lord you're a fool!" Moloch spat.A bolt of lightning struck through what was Satan's illusory clone, fading it. Satan who had been flying abo
- Death, Lucifer, Saint -The team and Saint had followed Kahvis to their main headquarters on the eastern side of Passage. The area had been covered in illusion magic, with patrolling scouts that had been ordered to keep an eye out for any demons. The base was a collection of square stone huts. Kahvis explained that they wanted to be able to move everything in an instant if they needed to.The eastern border of Passage was right next to the swampy territory of a group of lizard-like beings known as Sergosians. Their kind had a neutral approach to outsiders, believing that if anyone can survive their homeland, they have the right to be there. Kahvis told the team that it was the perfect escape route, if they needed it."That place isn't friendly to the unprepared you know?" Saint questioned Kahvis."I know my way around it well-enough to guide others. I have allies there as well, and as unfriendly as
- Death, Lucifer, Peter -Saint had stayed behind. She told the two that she wanted to speak to Kahvis now before all of them started their planning. The two had been okay with the idea, sure that she wasn't going to pick a fight. Peter decided to walk ahead of the two assuming that they would want to talk on the way back."I don't think the others are going to be happy that you sent a vampire healer away." Death joked."I don't care." Lucifer responded in a tired tone. "She's a being with family and friends that care about her, not some rechargeable battery of healing."Death could tell that Lucifer wasn't in the mood to hear jokes, he had tried anyways, hoping to lift his spirits.'I know how you feel. I wonder how Peter feels about all this though?'Peter knew the moment he saw the demons flood into the city that if they all survived Lucifer was going to s
- Saint and Peter -Peter had been cooling down from his interaction with Oliver. He felt like he should wait before speaking with someone else, afraid that he might say something he regrets. Seeing Saint come his way was almost a worst-case scenario."I'm about to go help the survivors. Do you want to come along?" She asked.Peter gave a shifting look of confusion and fatigue. He had mentally prepared himself for another argument. Hearing what she said seemed to freeze his thoughts. Saint's look of confusion as she said "Peter?" got him to respond."Uh, no. I need to go meet with the unknown's commanders." He rubbed his face and sighed. "Thanks for staying by the way. I know ya and Death have problems, and I appreciate ya puttin' them aside for this."Saint had things she wanted to say about her "problems" with Death, but decided against it. Peter wasn't the person to complain t
- Lucifer, Peter, Oliver -"You're barely a match for me, so I don't know where ya got the idea to start shit with Luce." Peter mocked.Oliver didn't respond. He took a deep breath in through his nose and exhaled through his mouth. He had a mountain of issues with Lucifer and Peter that had lead him to saying things he regrets. These regrets, however, did not outweigh the decades of grim training he had received. The moment the fight started a switch flipped in his mind, clearing his thoughts and focusing his attention.Peter made the first move. He brought his sword down, aiming for Oliver's head. The attack was blocked, but the sound made from the two weapons made it seem like one of them had been broken. The noise from the clash had the spectators wondering if the two opponents were really human.Peter lifted his sword from the staff and stepped back. Oliver followed him, jabbing his staff forward
- Yamato, Peter, Oliver -"I'm surprised you know of R'yarj." Yamato said."How do you know about that?" Oliver asked Peter. "The eldritch are a mystery to most gods.""Hell's library." Peter said. "There's books on just about every bein' in the world. One of the books, written by Satan, is about the eldritch. The book didn't have much in the way of information, but it did mention the eldritch that had the ability to give deals." He sighed. "Satan's obsession with arbiters is one of his few positive traits."Oliver had heard stories of the vast knowledge in Hell's library. Purgatory had its own great library, but even Death has admitted to it not being on the same scale as Hell's."I never visited the library when I was in Hell." Yamato revealed. "I would have if I had known of its available knowledge.""You were reborn in Hell?" Oliver asked.
- Death -Death had gone to check on Hrom by himself. He said he had things he needed to think about on his own.'All basic affinities and he doesn't believe in the equality of all species being possible...'Death was running his hand over Hrom's side. His mind had been split between thinking about Kahvis, and thinking about his plan of attack. He had the most important role in the war, a fact that he fully expected but still worried about.'How long has it been since you've joined me in battle?' He scratched Hrom."I know you're there, you can't hide your presence from me!" Death yelled. The humans that had been hiding and watching Death scattered. Normally he would just tolerate their curiosity, but he wanted to be alone.'Not a single one of you will want to be near me after this battle is over. Your stares of interest will turn into d
- Elijah and Lao -(After Death called Satan)Lao, Heinrich, Yvere, Sabu, and Elijah were heading towards Bolotano with everyone else."You don't have to fight," Lao said."Why are you telling me this?" Elijah sighed. "I know, but I have a feeling there won't be an actual choice.""I wanted to thank you, for Sol." Lao looked at the ground. "And...say that I'm sorry for how I've come across.""You're fine." Elijah shrugged. "I don't mean any offense by this; we're not friends. We've practically just met and you clearly have a lot to deal with on average.""I...I, sorry." Lao stopped.Elijah knew what Lao was trying to do. He hated the situation he was in, leading to him forgetting about the rest of the team's problems. He had the least to lose among all of them, and yet he was acting as if he had it the worst.&
- Moloch and Baal -(After Lucifer sent the group back to Hell)Moloch and Baal were discussing over an echo call about their alliance with Satan."Can we really trust him?" Moloch asked, stroking his beard."Bit late to question it now?" Baal grunted. "We could win without his help, so I'm not overly invested in his strength.""Mmmmm." Moloch hummed. "Don't you think the timing is strange?""His timing is always strange." Baal laughed. "Why are you so concerned about this?"Moloch paused. He was worried about himself more than anything. He had questioned his alliance with even Baal in the past, so this trepidation was nothing new."We lost the Underground," Moloch growled. "I don't like the way things are going.""Like I said-" Baal sighed. "-bit late to question it now."'Is
- Lucifer and Kahvis -Lucifer and Kahvis were on their own at the front of the right army, with Death being alone on the left. The two were channeling magic as they walked, Lucifer's arms were covered in explosive orbs, and Kahvis was holding two orbs of electricity. Kahvis had switched to a black shirt with three linked blue circles on the back, with black pants. The two were walking through the destroyed headquarters. Kahvis looked around at the area, confused by what happened."I don't have time to explain." Lucifer said."It doesn't matter." Kahvis responded. The two kept moving forward. They were meant to spearhead the demon armies along with Death. They would need to deal massive damage first, or the resistance's army would simply be overwhelmed. It didn't help that the average demon soldier is stronger than the average human. The odds of the battle went through Lucifer's mind one last time be
- Satan, Moloch, Baal -(Morning after last chapter)"Like I told you before, you need to start your attack now." Satan said into the echo. "If you don't keep them from digging deeper in Bolotano we won't win this.""You care about winning and yet you sent a messenger to them!" Moloch spat."I want a proper battle-" Satan's voice started to sound like a mix of anger and excitement. "-not some facade of one. You're lucky you have my help, now don't waste it.""Can you at least tell us how long it will take for your forces to pincer them?" Baal asked."No...too easy." Satan said with a smile. "Who knows, maybe you'll win without me? Wouldn't that be something?" Satan leaned away and whispered. "Though I wouldn't bet on it...""Once this is all over we should come to your side of the world and return the favor." Baal said.
- Saint, Death, Lucifer -Lucifer wanted to help Saint, but he was scared that he might draw Death's aggression. He thought it would be better if he waited and only stepped in if it seemed like Saint was about to lose.Death rapidly blinked to Saint. He was on her in a moment, gripping his hand around her throat and lifting her off the ground. He was readying to slam her down when he felt both her feet kicking into him. The blow was strong enough to send him back once more. What followed looked like a white light crashing against a shadow. Death had strength and speed, Saint had technique. Their fight started to destroy the resistance's evacuated headquarters, causing the sound of breaking stone to fill the air.Death grabbed Saint's arm and threw her through multiple huts. He appeared above her, attempting to stomp her face. She dodged the attack and struck Death's smoke hidden face. She exchanged b
- Lucifer -Lucifer had stayed in the hut long after Death left. He had been staring at the board endlessly, to the point that he could see images of it when he blinked. The scenarios he had run through in his head had pervaded all of his other thoughts. Even thinking about the five traveling to Heliopolis would be interrupted by a connecting thought of how he would deal with their respective magics. These thoughts combined with the fact that he was in two minds about having Peter stay around made it difficult for him to think about much else. He trusted Peter's strength, but couldn't help picturing him die. The true risk of this war had set in. It wasn't that he had thought things would go perfectly fine, and everyone would get a happy ending, just that he had confidence from his prior victory in the Underground. He pictured Kahvis attending to the friends and loved ones of those who died in the raid, and wondered what
- Peter, Lao, David, Sabu, Moloch -"Now it's almost fair." Moloch smiled.Moloch lifted his hand up and made a circle in the air. Blood shot up from the ground and begun spinning violently. Moloch sustained the velocity of the vortex with one hand while using the other to explode the insides of the stone pillar David and Sabu were on.Lao rushed towards Moloch. Moloch flicked his hand toward Lao, causing blood spikes to shoot up from the ground. Lao jumped over the attack and kept moving.Lao sent a quick right punch speed towards Moloch. His fist connected with Moloch's smiling face.Moloch quickly opened his hand. Blood spikes shot from his cloak into Lao. He was overjoyed in what he thought was a victory, until he saw the reborn's face.Lao had blocked his head and heart from receiving hits. He was still deeply wounded, but he wasn't done moving. His left
- Lucifer and David -(Before the main story)"I'm telling you to be more careful." Lucifer was warning David. "Double affinities don't make you invincible.""I can't afford to be more careful." David said.David was 5"9'. He had dark shaggy black hair that matched his scraggly beard. He had a slim frame that made him appear younger. He was wearing a black shirt and thick brown pants. His irises were a bright yellow color."I'm telling you this because I don't want you dragging Peter into making bad decisions." Lucifer sighed. The two were approached by a reborn woman."You two ready?" Emily asked."Hopefully." Lucifer said in David's direction.Emily was a shorter woman, standing 5"5'. Her brown hair was crew cut, and her face seemed to be permanently scrunched. She was wearing a green cloak and
- Death and Oliver -"You okay sir?" Oliver said from afar to Death."I'll be fine." Death mumbled.Oliver didn't have much interaction with Death before their meeting in Passage. He was secretly excited to get the chance to speak with him. He was going to ask if he could practice with him until he saw Death's training. It was different, it seemed more purposeful, as though he was imagining someone as he swung the scythe.'Can't imagine practicing with that.' Oliver scratched the back of his head.Death was trying to quiet everything around him. What mattered to him now was staying focused. He couldn't practice his riding with Hrom so he was stuck with just weapon and image training. So long as he kept his eyes closed he wouldn't see the eyes of the crowd and most of them wouldn't dare say anything if they thought he could hear them.Oliver was looking around
