"Thank you so much for understanding," I said into the telephone. "We will see you tomorrow at two o'clock."

I hung the device back on its cradle and slumped into my office chair with a heavy sigh. My eyes flicked to the clock on my computer monitor. It was now 4 o'clock. I'd called off all Marshall's appointments for this afternoon and rescheduled them for tomorrow and next week. Many were disgruntled by the abrupt change and very not shy about making known to me how this severely inconvenienced them.

Marshall was lucky I was permanently strangled with the need to be nice to people, or I could've really told some people off.
