"You can't keep asking to see me privately, you know? It'll raise suspicions."

Maya casually dropped her bag on the sofa and plopped down on it, she crossed her legs, her fingers drumming against her thigh.

"So I can't ask to see one of my students to discuss something of importance." She smiled at the barely-there smirk on his face, watching as he loosened the tie around his neck. "I think you're being a little bit paranoid, Miss Greenley."

He sat down on his leather chair across from her after pulling off his jacket and hanging it on the rack behind him. Maya eyed him carefully as he pretended to be busy with the papers on his desk, his fingers flipping each page in a pensive manner.

"I'm not, you should have seen the look Jason gave me." She shuddered theatrically at the memory. "My God, he looked like I had done something illegal or..."

She trailed off for lack of an appropriate word. Jason had some sort of look in his eyes when she caught his gaze.
