Veyron

Veyron’s exhaustion dragged at him, a dull ache from the use of the Crescent Gate pulsing through his limbs. But when Lyra shoved the papers off his desk, adrenaline shot through him. Eryx stirred, more alert than he had been in hours. The boldness of her challenge thrown at his feet awakened a hunger he couldn’t ignore.

She was trembling, clearly afraid, but that didn’t stop her from pushing him. He sniffed the air, the smell of fear coating the space between them. Yet it was her courage that sparked the yearning in his groin. A low, primal growl rumbled in his chest, but he swallowed it, willing himself to control the urge to close the distance between them.

"Do you really think that was a good idea?" he asked, his voice dark, an edge of amusement threading through the calm. He couldn’t help the way the words escaped, relishing the way her body reacted to him.

The sound of her pounding heart was almost too loud in his heightened state. She couldn’t meet his eyes, her gaze dro

LyraLyra stared at Veyron’s back, her chest tightening as dark, tangled emotions warred within. She had hurt him. She could feel it in the rigid set of his shoulders, the control of his breath. She wanted to soothe him. To take him in her arms and tell him everything would be alright. But what could she say? And if she did, what would he demand from her? She didn’t want to be trapped. Yet, she hadn’t wanted to cause him pain. With a quiet, merciless restraint, he had dared her to decide. To be more than just a pawn in his game. Her entire being screamed for her to stay. And face whatever this was. Face him.Instead, she turned and stormed to her room, her footsteps echoing like accusations in the empty corridor. The moment the door slammed shut behind her, the strength drained from her limbs, and she sank to the floor, gasping for breath.Tears burned hot down her cheeks, but she barely felt them. Chapter 41 630 What Did You ExpectVeyronVeyron sat on the floor of his room, too weak to stand. Lyra’s words ricocheted around his skull. Eryx curled into a ball, distancing himself. Any thought Veyron sent towards him was meant with a warning snarl. Then, the door opened for his mistress. Her gaze swept over him with that unnerving, knowing look. She helped him to his feet, but his legs buckled beneath him. A groan escaped his lips, body swaying as if caught in the wind.“Easy now,” The MIstress of Shadow’s soft tone kept the authority that never left her. She guided him gently toward the bed, where he tumbled onto the mattress. She sat beside him, her gaze dark and intense as it locked onto his. "What happened?" she asked.“My mate…” he rasped, flinching at the lie in that phrase. She had rejected him. She wasn’t his mate. But what else could he call her? He didn’t even know her name. "She… Said I was worse than a monster." The mistress tilted her head, caught between a smirk and

LyraAs Lyra followed the guards through the corridors, she reflected on how far she had come. For most of her life, she had been a shadow moving unnoticed, a girl with no voice, no fight. Her stepmother had ordered, her stepsister had mocked, and her father had turned away, leaving her to wilt in the silence. She had dreamed then, clinging to the fragile fantasy of a mother who might have loved her, who might have made her something more than invisible. But fantasies hadn’t saved her. Now, she walked forward with her chin lifted, not as a girl resigned to fate but as a woman who had learned to stand. She was still trapped, uncertain of what awaited her, but she was not helpless. She had faced the monster in his own lair and survived. That monster had said he claimed her but then left her fate unsealed. There was still hope, a sliver of room to make a different choice—where Garrick existed.Garrick was safety. He was warmth, a promise of something gentle in a world that had never be

The ache of magic-drained exhaustion twisted into primal desire. He grasped her hips, as she pressed into him, fitting against him like she always had. His body responded, his cock hardening. • The Princess in the Shadows   chapter 44 Hers

The Mistress of Shadows The corridors of the den breathed ancient magic, stone pulsing beneath The Mistress’s steps. Shadows curled around her like an obedient hound, masking her from those she passed. Not that they would have dared to meet her gaze. She was a phantom moving through their world, unseen yet ever watching. The power in the air crackled against her skin, alive and eager, whispering to her of control, of fate, of the blood she would soon claim. The scent of Veyron clung to her skin. He had been undone by the girl, but she had soothed him. Reminded him who had always understood him best. She passed warriors in training, honed for battle but nothing compared to Veyron. He was her masterpiece. A creation perfected by her hands, refined by pain and purpose. These others were blunt weapons at best. Replaceable. She frowned as she considered the way Lyra’s rejection had wounded him. The mistress’s prized warhound, thrown into self doubt over some stubborn little wretch.

Lyra A throat cleared, echoing through the still room like thunder. Lyra jumped, the book slipping from her fingers as the mistress stepped inside, smirking as if she had expected this reaction. “My, my. A little mouse caught snooping,” the mistress purred, her voice rich with amusement. She didn’t stop moving, her steps languid, circling Lyra with the ease of a creature that had no need to rush. “Curious thing, aren’t you?” Lyra squared her shoulders, lifting her chin despite the way her heart hammered against her ribs. “It’s not a crime to read a book.” The Mistress let out a soft chuckle. “Not at all. But it does make me wonder... why that book?” She tilted her head, eyes flicking toward the fallen tome on healing, then back to Lyra. “You had your pick of poisons, curses, and delightful little hexes… but you chose healing. Sentimental. Predictable.” She took another slow step, her presence like a tightening noose. “Do you fancy yourself a savior? Do you think you can fix what’s

LyraWhen the mistress announced the test’s start, fine mist curled around Lyra’s ankles, cold as death, thick as fog. She inhaled, and it took her, stealing the strength from her limbs. She tried to step back, but her muscles were no longer her own.The mistress circled her, rustling robes tracking her steps. “Do you feel that, little mouse?” she murmured. “what its like to lose control.”Lyra tried to claw her way out of the magic’s haze that spread through her like honey through tea. The paralysis forced surrender, weaving around her, brushing against her like a lover’s sigh, teasing, tempting. It stroked along the curve of her spine, danced across her collarbone. Every nerve sang, every touch burning pleasure into her senses. It was too much and yet she didn’t want it to stop.“Fascinating,” the mistress purred, watching her. “You’re so receptive.”The mistress’s fingers trailed Lyra's arm, featherlight and electric. Mistress Of ShadowsLyra’s conflict was exquisite, purity heightening every reaction. Her resistance summoned a raw, undeniable craving within the Mistress. On impulse, she lunged, pushing the girl to the floor and biting her thigh. The intoxicating taste of bliss and moonlight sent shockwaves through her core. Lyra screamed. The mistress groaned against her skin, the venom spreading through Lyra’s veins in a slow, molten burn. The girl panicked, her breath rapid, uneven gasps as pain flared. Lyra’s body went rigid, pulse hammering against the mistress’s lips. And then—gods above—Lyra moaned. The mistress pulled back, violet eyes narrowing in curiosity. Ah. So that’s how it is.A wicked grin spread across her face as she licked blood from her lips. “You like it,” she whispered, delighted. Lyra shook her head, denial breaking from her lips in breathless whimpers. But her hips arched in search of something she didn’t even understand.“Oh, my little mouse,” the mistress purred, tra

The wicked delirium of her stormed beneath his skin, pooling deep within him, demanding more—demanding her.He pinned her hands above her head, savoring the way she shivered beneath his touch, the way her breath caught. Every nerve awakened, attuned to the press of her body, the rapid beat of her pulse. Pressure built until his limbs trembled with the effort of holding on, his body no longer his own, ruled by the need to claim, to take, to make her his. Instinctively, he rocked against her, chasing her heat with a desperate, mindless rhythm that grew wilder until he was lost in her.She was his abyss, his surrender, his undoing. And then—he was gone. The unleashing became a vast ocean he could not escape, pulling him deeper. I can’t take anymore, Vespera…”Pleasure and pain comingled until they were indistinguishable, reducing her will to a gasping, quivering rapacity.Even as the dream faded, its effects did not. The need coiled tight. Her fingers twitched, drawn down to where the mistress had taught her would quench the terrible hunger. She squeezed her eyes shut, lips parting as her fingertips brushed over her clit.Slick sweat coated her body as hands she couldn’t see ghosted over her skin, breath she couldn’t feel whispering in her ear. VeyronThe room was suffocating. The candle on the nightstand burned out, leaving the scent of melted wax and a faint wisp of smoke. Veyron sat on the edge of the bed, his hands clenched into fists so tight his nails left crescent shaped lacerations on his palms. Lyra’s laugh still bounced around his head. Rivenn had charmed her, teasing, touching, even stealing glances. And Veyron watched, as the people he trusted most toyed with her attention. And she had welcomed it.Eryx growled in his mind, a low, restless rumble. They covet what is ours.Ours.Veyron’s breath shuddered out, the tension in his shoulders growing until they ached. He wanted her. More than he wanted air. Why did he yearn for her so? Why did her refusal to accept him burn so hot and deep? He didn’t need some girl. Never had. Lyra“He’s got a habit of picking up strays,” Brann remarked, tipping back his ale and nodding toward Veyron. “Over half the bastards here wouldn’t have a place if he didn’t take ‘em in.”Eryssa smirked. “Or a purpose. We’re all misfits in one way or another, but Veyron—he finds a use for the discarded.”Lyra listened quietly, her fingers tracing the rim of her tankard. She had seen Veyron’s leadership firsthand—the way these warriors, dangerous and unruly as they seemed, deferred to him without a command ever needing to be spoken. “And yet, he doesn’t unwillingly bind anyone to him as their Alpha.” Rivenn admired. “Veyron doesn’t demand it. He never has.”Most packs didn’t work that way. The pack bond was everything. The unshakable link that demanded loyalty, submission, belonging. It kept betrayal and fights out. Veyron did that all through sheer might. She glanced at him, half-hidden in the shadows now, nursing his drink as he listened but didn’t engage. His eyes distant.“It’s be

Veyron The tavern buzzed with life, its warmth at odds with the cold void inside him. His enforcers reveled in their drinks, their camaraderie unshaken despite the serious mission ahead. They nudged him, coaxed him, trying to pull him into their merriment. “Come on, Veyron,” Brann called, already three drinks deep. “I haven’t seen you smile in years. Are your teeth still intact, or did you grind them all to dust?” Veyron exhaled through his nose, arms folded across his chest. “I’ll smile when I see something worth smiling about.” Delvin smirked. “Gods help us all when that day comes.” Eryssa shook her head. “Lost cause,” she muttered, clinking her tankard against Rivenn’s. “Might as well try getting Aeron drunk.” Veyron barely heard them. His attention was elsewhere. On her. Lyra sat among them, relaxed in a way she never was around him. Her lips curved in amusement as she sipped her drink, a strand of raven hair slipping over her shoulder. The firelight softened her edges… w

Lyra“We’re after an artifact,” Veyron explained, setting his tankard down with a dull thud. “The Eglantine.”Silence fell over the table.Brann exhaled. “Shit.”Rivenn let out a low whistle. “She really has you chasing that?”Eryssa threw back a swallow of her drink before asking, “I knew it had to be bad, but… that bad?”“Alright,” Daphne glanced between them. ”someone want to explain? What’s the Eglantine?”Delvin drummed his fingers on the table. “Ancient. Dangerous. Powerful. One of a kind.”Brann chuckled, but it lacked his usual warmth. “Sounds like my type.”Eryssa rolled her eyes. “It’s not something to joke about, Brann.”“So we’re retrieving it…” Lyra frowned. “for what purpose?”Veyron’s jaw flexed before he answered. “The Mistress wants it. She says it’ll protect the pack from what’s coming.”That sent a ripple of unease through the group.Eryssa spoke, “It’s really happening, then.”Aeron merely nodded.Lyra’s eyes narrowed. “And what exactly is ‘it’?”No one answered i

LyraFollowing the group to the table, Lyra watched Veyron warily. Rivenn had been testing and teasing him but she had seen the moment where he almost didn’t stop. He had wanted to see blood and the echoes of anger hadn’t fully faded.Rivenn leaned back in his chair, lazily scanning the room as he took a deep swig of ale—then nearly choked on it. He set his tankard down with a thunk, eyes locking onto Lyra and Daphne.“Well, well,” he drawled, a slow grin spreading across his face. “No one told me we’d have company.”At that, the rest of the group turned, as if finally registering the two women who had ridden in with Veyron.Brann’s grin widened. “And no one told me the company would be this pretty.”Veyron’s fingers curled around the handle of his drink, his knuckles tightening as Brann leaned forward, all easy charm and reckless grins. A low growl hummed in the back of Veyron’s throat, too soft for anyone but Lyra to catch. She tried to ignore him.Eryssa groaned. “Gods save us, her

VeyronLyra, Daphne, Veyron, and Delvin rode toward the inn, its warm golden light spilling from shuttered windows onto the mud-slick road. It was a welcome sight after a long day’s ride, promising food, rest, and reacquaintance with old friends. The inn was bustling, the scent of roasting meat and ale mingling with the perfume of courtesans who prowled between tables like well-fed cats. Laughter and the clink of tankards filled the barroom. When they stepped inside, the world stilled. People recognized Veyron. A few stiffened, others averted their eyes. He was their leader, if not their Alpha, and he had long since stopped caring about being the center of attention. Then, cold steel pressed against his throat.Lyra sucked in a sharp breath, taking a step back. LyraThey traveled for the better part of the day through the vast, wind-swept grasslands, where golden fields rippled like an endless sea. Daphne kept the mood light, chatting idly with Lyra about whatever she saw around them; the color of the sky, the crispness of the air, idle musings about the villages they passed. Lyra responded when she could, but she was exhausted. Yet with every lapse of the conversation, her blood burned with a secret intimate need. The mistress of shadows’ torment never far, lurking behind every breath. The vibrations of riding thrumming along her ever sensitive womanhood.Veyron rode ahead. The tension in his shoulders and the sharp set of his jaw made it clear that his thoughts were not something he intended to share. The warrior who had fetched them from the quarters rode alongside them. He was middle-aged, with graying temples and a face lined by years of battle, yet his demeanor was easygoing. He joined in Daphne’s chatter with an amused tone, though w
