“Deira?” Someone called my name and when I raised my head, the guy I was looking at earlier was now in front of me.

“Uh… Yes?” I responded, confused.

He offered me a hand shake. “Hi, I’m Lurcos, watashi wa kyo no anata no service desu, ouju,” he said, which means ‘I am your service for today, princess’. I was immediately convinced. His Japanese is terrible, but manageable.

Daijoubu desu,” I replied, which means ‘okay’ and accepted his hand. He then helped me stand up and gently grabbed my backpack.

My heart silently celebrated with the fact that it’s not my uncle and just a random stranger who fetched me up. I don’t care whoever he is, as long as it’s not the guy I hated most in this world. Though he looks a little scary, with the way he looks overall and that gun on his waist. But, I admit, he looks cute when he smiles.

“He’s the guy. And believe me, I’ve never seen him before,” I mouthed to Dell so he won’t hear. He’s still not letting go of my hand.

She just gave me a sly smile. She stood up and moved her face closer to my ear. “You’re so fucking lucky, girl. Keep him, okay?

I rolled my eyes at her. “Whatever you are thinking is not happening,” I whispered back. “Bye, Dell, see you again tomorrow!” I then waved at her.

“Bye! Take care!” she responded without a smile leaving her lips. I just shook my head and ignored her.

“Let’s go,” the man said and he gently grabbed me towards the direction of his car.

I thought of telling him that he can now let go of my hand, but for some reason, it feels good that he’s holding my hand. His palm is soft, contrary to what I expect that it would be rough for he’s obviously a tough guy.

He opened the passenger’s door for me and guided me until I got in before giving me my backpack. He then went to the driver’s seat and started the engine.

“Uhm… Is it fine if we’d go to a boutique first before I bring you home? I forgot, I have a party to attend to and I need to pick something perfect and decent to wear. You know, to cover my tattoos and stuff. It’s a formal party, a week from now,” he shyly said as if he was asking for too much.

“Okay, no problem.”

“You could help me decide, too. Ladies are good at fashion stuff,” he added.

I just smiled and nodded. I’m actually awkward with people I am not close with, especially with strangers so, words coming out of my mouth are minimal, though I’m comfortable with him.

Silence enveloped us until we reached our destination fifteen minutes later. He got out of the car first. He opened the door for me while I was still taking off my seatbelt. He’s fast, wow!

I went out and he guided me all the way in. He suddenly and gently grabbed my backpack from me. “I’ll carry this for you,” he said, smiling.

I didn’t say anything and just let him do whatever he wanted. We went straight to a boutique full of tuxedos. They were the casual ones, nothing extra. I sat on a chair as I watched him look through the tuxedos while the salesman was talking about their products.

A few moments later, he turned to me while holding a white pair of tuxedos. “What do you think?” he asked.

“Hmm…” I estimated if the color fits his skin tone before nodding my head. “Yeah, it’s pretty and does blend with your skin tone.” I stood up and went beside him and grabbed the dark blue pair of tuxedo. “But, I think this one will fit you well.”

He gave the white tux to the salesman and looked over to the one I am holding. “You think so?”

I nodded. “Yup, this is perfect. A casual pair, but with your skin tone, this will have a special effect on people once you wear it.”

“Then, I’m buying these,” he said with a smile before he took it from me and handed it to the salesman. “She’s an expert and I believe in her taste in fashion,” he said to the man.

The salesman smiled widely. “Certainly, sir.” After paying, we left the store.

“Hey, wait here first!” he suddenly stopped and ran towards something. I didn’t see what he bought and just patiently waited for him.

He returned while hiding something behind him, but I didn’t bother asking what it was.

When we started walking towards the exit, I saw a familiar figure. And when fate loves messing with me, it was the man I never ever wanted to see again. I was happy he wasn’t the one I am with right now, yet I still saw him in a super unexpected place.

He’s with an unfamiliar woman, probably his new toy to play with. They exited the store where they were just in and were about to pass through us.

I simply moved to hide behind Lurcos’ back. And when they passed through us, I didn't know if Lurcos understand what I was doing, but he intentionally moved to blocked me from my uncle's sight. He's big and surely, no one in front of us can see me.

“Well, hello there, Mr. Santanal! What an unexpected place to meet you,” he sounded elegant when he talked, contrary to how dirty he is in closed doors.

I could hear my own heartbeat going fast and would sometimes skip a beat. My knees are getting weak and my palms are trembling just by hearing his voice.

“Yeah, I also didn’t expect to see you here. I see, you’re spoiling your new toy,” Lurcos responded in a much cold tone. He has changed his tone from a sweet one to a cold and serious one

My uncle let out a devious laugh. “You know me, I love all of them fairly.”

The girl he is with is not saying anything, she’s probably not even offended with what he just said. Probably because she likes being toyed and loves the money he’s pouring on her head.

“Anyways, we’ll get going now, we still have a lot of things to do tonight,” my uncle said and left.

When I peeked and they were already gone, I went beside him and started walking towards the exit without waiting for Lurcos. He walked so fast that he was still able to open the door for me.

When we got inside the car, we were both silent. He didn’t say or ask anything why I was hiding from that man and I am glad that he didn’t ‘cause I don’t wanna talk about it.

I rested my head on my seat and focused my eyes on the window. I felt exhausted. The past few days have been a lot stressful. Thank God I managed to get through this another not-so-kind day.

“Uhm… Wanna have dinner with me?” he asked, breaking the silence between us.

“Oh, sorry. We’ll be having our family dinner tonight. I can’t join you.”

“That’s okay. Maybe next time, then.”

“Sure,” I replied.

After a few more minutes of silence, he cleared his throat. “Uhh… If it's not too much to ask, can you be my date for the party?” I slowly turned to him, slightly shocked and confused. “I actually don't have anyone to accompany me. Well, I don't have a girlfriend,” he playfully smiled. “And, all my girl friends are busy with their own lives. So, what do you say?”

“Uhm… I-I don't know. I never went to a party as someone's date before,” I replied, giving him an unsure smile.

“Great! Then I will be your first,” he happily and proudly said.

“Wow! You're so confident that I would say yes.”

“Why? Are you rejecting my proposal?”

“I haven't said anything.”

“Well, for me, no answer means yes,” he then chuckled.

“That's an irrational belief of yours,” I commented.

“Sooo… You're coming?!”

“Can I say no?”

“No!” he fastly replied. I couldn’t help, but smile with the way he acts.

“It's a yes, then.”

“Yes!” he happily exclaimed and lightly punched the air.

He doesn’t look scary at all. He acts completely different from the way he looks. A perfect example that looks can be deceiving. I’ve never seen someone looking so tough yet acting cute at the same time.

I stopped myself from smiling from ear to ear. I got a lot comfortable with him. He looks fun to be with.

And to be honest, I’m a little overwhelmed and flattered with his proposal. This is the first time someone asked me out. Boys are just afraid to approach me because they are afraid of my brothers, my whole family, in general.

“By the way, where’s my driver? Why did dad have to send you instead?” I asked.

“He ordered him to deliver something important. I was with him when he was thinking of who to send to fetch you and I offered my help.”

I nodded. “Where’s dad? What was he doing?”

“He’s in a business meeting. Up until now actually. He’s having a meeting with an important client.”

“Uhm… Just curious, how exactly are you related to dad?”“We’re business partners. I’m one of your company’s investors. I’m just actually your new investor, I started investing two or three months ago and hell, I already started earning. Your family’s business is pretty much in demand in the market, huh.”I forcedly nodded and smiled. He probably meant about the dirty businesses of my family. My dad and two brothers facilitate the family’s gun trafficking business. Not just guns, all kinds of war equipment are being distributed by my family in different parts of Asia and Europe. My father is a general, my brothers also hold higher titles in the military so they know a lot of stuff about wars. I wake up from the loud knocking on my door. I forced myself to stand up. I could barely open my eyes. I put on my slippers and walked towards the door. The mayordoma or the head of the maids in our house greeted me.“Good morning, Princess. A special visitor paid a visit and your father said that you need to dress decently right now and join them for breakfast,” she said in a British accent.“Do I really need to be there?”“Your father said yes. The visitor is here for you, actually.”My brow crossed as I got confused. I don’t remember inviting anyone over to our house. Who could possibly it be?“Okay, I’ll be downstairs in twenty minutes.”“Certainly! Take your time, Princess” she said before leaving and I shut the door.I face-palmed before going to the bathroom to wash my face. I then fixed myself. I put on a blue below-the-knee off-shoulder dress and flat sandals before going out.Our house is huge while there’s only seven of us living here. In fact, a hundred people could fit in

I guess I hurted his ego 'cause when I got out of my walk-in closet, all my mini action figures were scattered on the floor.I shook my head in dismay. “What a shameless childish bastard.”I started picking up the figures until I saw the crocheted flowers Lurcos gave me also scattered on the floor. And that's when my blood boiled even more. The audacity! I fucking hate him!I picked up the flowers, cleaned it and placed it back to the window. After cleaning, I put on light makeup to make myself look more presentable. I wore a green knee-length backless dress and paired it with 3-inch white heels. I also wore my favorite crocheted white cardigan.I put on my handbag with only a phone, wallet, and a penknife inside. Better be safe especially that I'll be going with a scumbag with anger issues.I then got out of my room and went downstairs. I saw him, smiling while talking to my dad. He’s a good actor, huh. When he got inside, he immediately took a tight grip of my hand. And although it hurts me a little, I gave him a deadly stare, as if threatening that if he doesn’t let go, something bad is going to happen. “You don’t question my choices! You can never do better than me,” he put emphasis on every word. I leaned closer to him. “If you don’t want to, you should shut your mouth. And please, you’re not even that better. I could do nothing and yet I would still be better than you,” I also put emphasis on every word before pulling back my hand. I gave him my sweet smile. “Where are we going next, honey?” I asked full of sarcasm. He gave me his deadly look before turning his face in front and started the engine. I do not intend to push him to his limit, but if he keeps insulting me, I would never let him be satisfied. He's someone not worth having an argument with, but his arrogance is getting into my nerves. After a few minutes of silence, he suddenly spoke. “Wanna know the real reason

“Well, I’m overwhelmed that you feel that way. And it simply means that even if you barely knew a person, you two could still be good friends together,” he replied. “And I bet, you’re probably happy by now if I am the one you are with.”How I wish it was just him, too.“Anyways, did you try on the suits you bought last night?”“Yup, and they fit just enough for my size. You are good at body estimation.”“You know what, I think it would be more appealing if you’re going to like braiding your hair or something to make you look clean to look at.”“Princess, it’s my hair that makes me look appealing. But, if you say so, you better be the one to fix my hair on that day. I trust your taste more than my personal hairdresser.”I rested my head on my seat and closed my eyes. I couldn't believe I could still feel the calmness amidst this so-unfortunate day of my life. Where was this kind of man at when I needed someone like him before?! But, I still do need to be careful with him. He may be ni

My phone beeps, indicating that there's a new notification. And when I looked at it, it was a message from mom.:You two will be visiting a real estate agent who is a great friend of your fiancé after your visit to the wedding organizer. You certainly need a place to stay after marriage. And that's it, one more reason to ruin this day for me.When I peeked on the window near the driver’s seat, I saw Sebastian walking towards his car.“Oh, he’s here. We need to go. I’ll talk to you later, ‘kay? Thank you once more for the treat and the chit chat,” I said.“Thank you for your time, too. It was fun talking with you. Bye.”“Bye,” I then hung up the call and waited for Sebastian to get inside.I then plastered my obviously sarcastic smile. This man doesn't deserve to see my sweet and genuine smile. He had me waiting for him for more than half an hour. When he got inside the car, he was rather silent and he had this angry look on his face. Probably not a good time to tell him what he just d

We heard a sudden loud music from the neighborhood as if there was a party going on. It’s broad daylight, why do people do parties at this time of the day?!I turned to the man. “I’ll be saying sorry in advance. There’s always a party going on with one of your future neighbors. But, you don’t have to worry much since your soon-to-be house is sound proof,” he assured us.I smiled, indicating that it’s fine with me. “We will be heading on our way out now,” I bid my goodbye to the man while Sebastian went into his car without saying anything.“Can’t wait to see you two move over here,” the man said, smiling.“We’ll see,” I replied and followed Sebastian to the car. He then maneuvered the car without saying anything. We were both silent throughout our journey. I didn’t bother asking him where we are heading ‘cause he’s obviously not in the mood. After a few more minutes, we are now passing by a familiar surrounding. When he got into the car, he maneuvered the car and went at full speed. We almost hit some of the cars along us, but the bastard didn’t seem to mind what he’s doing. My heart went racing every time we almost hit a car. But, I didn’t let him know that I felt a little scared for my life. Until he finally stopped the car in front of an unfamiliar area. I know he is up to something bad for me right now. I felt a short relief when I saw that we are not in a secluded place or something like that. I could still see people and cars passing by and I saw stores around. If he does something stupid, I could easily ask for help. After he unbuckled his seatbelt, without a warning, he grabbed my other wrist and took a tight grip on it. My face grimaced as I felt the electrifying pain from my wrist up to my arm. Shit! He’s really up to something bad. “What the heck?! Let go of me!” I shouted as I tried to pull back my hand with all my force, but it didn’t bother him. This man is an absolute abus

When we reached the rooftop, we were immediately greeted by the cold breeze of air. The hem of my dress and my hair is being blown away by the wind.He walked towards a corner where something special awaits us.And despite the coldness, all that matters to me at the moment is how romantic the sight in front of us.He allotted a small space where there was a warm LED light placed in a small circle while hanging on four poles, a table for two, a bottle of alcoholic beverage, a dish, and red petals on the floor. It was small and simple. This is the same as the ones I see in romantic movies. What are these for?!It was quite hidden and there’s literally a huge water tank just two meters away from the table.Lurcos walked towards one of the chairs and pulled it before looking at me still wearing his mesmerizing smile, offering me the seat.“What are these for exactly? And why are you doing all of these?” I asked without moving from where I stand.“I told you you are my date for tonight. Th

Then I remembered our first meeting. I just nodded my head. I’m still not comfortable talking to him after what we did.“I’ll fetch you up tomorrow night at your house or…?”“No need, I’ll ask my driver to send me to the location instead. Just send me the address,” I replied.“Okay!” Then he stood up. “Wait, give a minute,” he said before walking towards his room.Confused, I still patiently waited for him in the kitchen. And my eyes immediately widened seeing Lurcos’ names on the screen. My heart went racing immediately. But, I managed to keep my cool. I dropped the phone and closed my eyes again. There’s no point in answering him. There’s nothing to talk about.I looked at the time on my bedside clock and saw that it was eleven in the morning already. The sun is shining bright outside. No one woke me up so I assumed everyone wasn't home yet.I looked at my white lifeless ceiling while thinking of what happened last night. It was a long and tiring day. A lot of things happened and I couldn’t be more drained. It was a day full of roller coaster rides. It started bad and it ended bad, too.I

He then gently held my hand and directed me towards the elevator. Our surroundings were quiet so we could hear our own footsteps. He let go of my hand and pressed the 20th floor button and the door shut.I then thought of asking him something. “Are you not sleepy yet?”She shook his head once, “Nope, not a little.”“How about you, are you feeling sleepy now?”I also shook my head. “Nope,” I replied. Although staying awake this late may ruin my usual sleep schedule, I don’t mind at all.“Don’t you have class tomorrow?”“I have, but just one minor subject tomorrow at four pm ‘till six. So, it’s okay to stay awake late.”After a few more moments, the elevator stopped and the door opened. We were greeted by the warm light of the hallway.
