Violette POV “What is your name.. mate?” The man asked Lillian. I looked between the two of them, seeing her face was as pale as snow. “L-Lillian..” Lillian replied. “Lillian..” the man replied in a slow voice, as is savoring the way it felt coming out of his mouth. The king's door opened and out he stepped. “What’s going on?” He asked. He looked around and a smile came to his face. It made my heart flutter like never before.. I’d never seen him smile. “Cedric, my friend. You’re back.” Viktor said. The man pulled his eyes away from Lillian, then looked back at Master. “Ahh, there he is.” The man named Cedric said. He walked over to Viktor with wide arms, wrapping them around Viktor and slapping his back. “Goddess, it’s been a minute,” Viktor said. He had joy in his eyes, for some reason.. it made me feel really good on the inside. “My king..” Loren began. He held the tray of ruined food in his hand. “Tell me what happened,” Viktor said as he pulled away from the man now know
Viktor POV “Goddess, I know it’s only been a couple of months but man, I’ve missed this place,” Cedric said with a sigh. I took my seat at my desk and chuckled. “We’ve missed you here, Cedric,” I said. “So tell me. That other girl is the princess? As in, Princess Violette Dubois of the werewolves?” He asked. I nodded my head. “Yes, my slave princess,” I said. He let out a chuckle. “I bet you’ve had fun with that one.” He said. I didn’t respond for a moment. “She’s been.. a lot. That’s for sure.” I said truthfully. He cocked an eyebrow at me and pulled a chair to the front of my desk. “I see she’s dressed nicely.. and not in servants' rags.” He said. I let out a sigh. “She’s the king's Slave.. I’d much rather her look.. decent.” I said. “Decent, huh? She looks like a princess.” He said. He was right, she does. I almost couldn’t take my eyes off of her, and for some reason.. I felt anger when I thought he was referring to her as his mate.Much to my dismay.. I was relieved when
Violette POV I tried my best not to listen in on their conversations, but it was hard not to.. especially with my werewolf hearing. I found myself wiping the same spot over and over, on Masters desk.. as I heard them talk about the many things Cedric had learned while he was away. “I’m surprised you’ve kept her this long. Especially with her.. family’s history.” Cedric said. “She’s not that bad,” Master said. “Not that bad” ouch. I’m nothing like my family. Well, I take that back. I’m quite a lot like my mother was. She was kind, loving, and gentle.. she didn’t deserve what happened to her. And I forever blame my Father for her death. But.. I also blame myself. Because it wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for me. “If she’s not that bad, why not release her?” Cedric asked. I heard a slam on the table and I jumped slightly. “No,” Master said. He was angry, that much I could tell. “Sorry, man. I didn’t mean to..” Cedric began but Master cut him off. “Don’t worry about it.” He si
Violette POV After I finished cleaning Masters chambers, he gave me permission to choose a book to read for a little while, while he was out in a meeting. He did not give me permission to leave, but instead.. to sit at his desk and read. He said he wouldn’t be long, but it’s been an hour or so and my stomach is growling. I looked at the door, my brain unable to focus on the book much longer. I wonder how much longer he will be. My eyes shifted to the gray door a few feet to my side. I’m so curious. But there’s a saying.. curiosity killed the cat, and I’d much rather not die. I like my life.. as worthless as I may be. Maybe one day he will trust me enough to show me what lies behind the gray door. Or maybe I’ll be left to wonder for the remainder of my life. Who knows? I’d rather not find out what punishment I’d get for looking inside. I heard talking outside of Masters chambers. I couldn’t pinpoint exactly who it was, because the thick door muffles the voices slightly. After a mo
Viktor POV I was fuming with rage as I opened a mind link with Loren. “Bring me Minerva,” I said. I was trying my best not to growl.. trying my best not to rip the desk to shreds. How could Minerva act this way? She’s never been like this. Never. It was beginning to annoy me. Not only has she gone against my wishes and got near Violette.. but she continues to speak down to her and try to turn her against me. “Yes, my King.” He responded. She is upset.. angry even.. and I didn’t understand exactly why. Was it because of what I did with Minerva? It’s not like she didn’t know. Or was it because I took her virginity on the same desk? Did that disgust her? I paced around my room.. I didn’t know what I was going to say or do with Minerva.. but she would not get away with this. Violette and I were on decent terms.. and now that was ruined. She looked fuming when she left. Hurt even. Goddess, why do I even care? She was right.. she is my slave and it’s none of her business.. I should
Violette POV I jumped out of bed sweating, my heart racing out of my chest. I looked around the room almost forgetting where I am. When I realized I was no longer in the hands of my father, I took a deep breath and began to relax. I was having nightmares. Nightmares of the day we received my mother in.. in a box, cut into pieces.. the exact way Viktor’s brother was sent back to them. My father lost it that day, I’d never been so scared in my entire life. Mother was missing for a few hours. I was supposed to have been watching her.. she had been sleepwalking more often than usually. But I left her alone. Father and I looked everywhere for her.. and then we felt the bond snap. It was hours of pure terror I went through before we found her. We received a knock on the door, and when the guards opened it, they were met with a wooden box. They brought it in, as it was addressed to father. Before father was allowed to open it, the guards had to inspect it. And the look of horror on their
Violette POV Lillian and Sylvia were in the servants eating hall after I’d helped Ms. Beatrice cook breakfast. The smiles on their faces when they saw me made my spirits lift immensely. We talked as we ate until we were done. “I still haven’t heard anything from the King, so you may work in the gardens with the girls if you wish,” Beatrice said. I nodded my head as I stood up. The idea of being outside sounded wonderful. “Today will be a lovely day!” Sylvia cheered. “Yes, it will.” I giggled. I followed both of them outside. The bright light felt amazing on my skin, the fresh air filled my lungs and I swear I felt dizzy. It had been a minute since I felt this good. It must have started with my writing this morning. “How did you sleep?” Lillian asked. I followed her to the rows of flowers and sighed. “I’ve slept better, but that’s okay. It was made up with a good morning. What about you two?” I asked. She gave me the brightest smile I’ve ever seen on her beautiful face. “I slept
Viktor POV I didn’t know what to say as I sat next to the woman I named my slave. For the first time, I smiled at her. And I could tell she was shocked, but she never brought it up. “I would like it if you came back with me to my chambers,” I said out of nowhere. She didn’t even look at me as she replied. “Yes, Master.” She said. Her replies sometimes felt.. unnatural. Like she was just answering what she thought she wanted me to hear. But I guess that’s how slaves are supposed to be. With her though.. it bothered me. I let her have a few more moments of silence in the sun. The little ducklings following their mother in a straight line seemed to amuse her. She had the faintest smile on her face as she watched them go by. “Did you have ducks at your home?” I asked. “No. Fath-.. father didn’t like them.” She said as she looked down. I could tell that whatever she experienced in her life with him had troubled her deeply. I didn’t like it at all. I knew of her scars. I’ve seen them
