45. A Gamma's Role

Once Kayda and Andy were settled and fed, I left them alone with Ash to take a moment to think about all that had happened. Kayda was cuddled close to Ash as they chatted quietly. I had intended on asking him to be my royal Gamma, but instinctively, I knew as an Alpha that his wolf may not be a good fit. Ash was a tracker and a warrior, and quite frankly, he had some traits of a lone wolf. He never spoke about going off as a lone wolf, but he had always spoken about going on long warrior missions for the crown. That had always been his and Kayda's dream, and whilst I was aware Kayda's plans were changing, nothing made me think Ash's were. I watched him as he savoured the moment he had with his best friend back as she laughed at whatever he was saying.

"You're surprisingly calm at how close your mate and brother are. Aren't Alpha wolves crazy possessive?" Chance asked, joining me at the sail boat rail and following my gaze to where Kayda, Ash, and Andy were.
