Shattered
Three: Elijah
Racing out of the bedroom and down the stairs. I hear Misty hollering from the kitchen. “Grab a pair of swimming trunks. Everyone is down at the lake.” I spy the trunks and towels on the bench by the front door. “Thank you, Misty.” I scream before racing out the door only to collide with Evert. “Hey, help me with the cooler and snacks please.” I give him a scowl as he just grins at me. “Come on man. She isn’t going anywhere. As a matter of fact, my brother has her cornered right now.” My frown deepens as I think of Thomas being close to Corbin.
“Okay, come on let’s make this quick.” I say as I turn and wait for him to go past me. Following him through the kitchen to the back door. I dunk into the bathroom quickly to swap my shorts and underwear for swimming gear. As I come out, I see Misty helping Evert to load up the water bottles and pop into the cooler. It has wheels so there is no carrying it. Grabbing the two shopping bags of snakes, turning to look at him. “Ready?” I ask as he gives me a bored look. “If I say no?”
“Then I leave you here to fend for yourself.” I say as he glares at me. “You would leave me to go to your secret crush. Man, what happened to the bros before hoes?” I look over at him and shake my head. I couldn’t hold in the laughter at the look on his face. “Are you serious? We are wolves not stupid a*s humans.”
Gosh it is so nice out here I lift my head to the sunlight as we walk down the dirt path. Lost in my own thoughts about how I can get Corbin alone. Maybe I’ll get the chance to kiss her again. I smile as we enter the clearing, and the lake comes into view. Everyone is here. Aleah, Corbin’s sister is in the water with Tabby. Tabby is Corbin’s cousin and the next Alpha of Black Claw Pack. I chuckle as I watch them yelling at Eric who is splashing them with water. Why is it that girls like to get into the water but don’t want to get their hair wet? Never did understand that one.
As we reach the picnic table. I set the bags down. I look around but don’t see Thomas or Corbin. I turn to Evert as he opens the cooler and takes out a couple of waters. He hands me one as I take it. “So where did your brother take off to?” We both look around as he shrugs his shoulders. “No clue man. Maybe they went to the bathroom.” I hum as I guzzle my water then walk over to the lake. I take off, running down the dock at full speed hearing everyone cheers for me as I do a cannon ball. The guys join me as we start splashing each other and having a good time. I don’t pay attention to the time until I realize we have been here for a couple of hours already and still there is no sign of Thomas or Corbin.
“Hey guys, didn’t Corbin come with you?” That got everyone’s attention as now they are all looking around the area. “She was here right before you got here.” Tabby says. “Maybe Thomas took her to his room for some private time.” Aleah says as both her and Tabby laugh. I look at Evert as he is looking off into space, chewing on his lip. I grab his arm and pull him out of the water as Eric is diving under the water to attack the girls.
When we are a safe distance away, I turn on my so-called friend. “What is going on Evert?” I ask with venom in my voice. He doesn’t even look me in my eye. He just stares at the ground. “I don’t know what you are talking about.” I barely hear him as I angerly brush my hands through my wet hair.
“You know exactly what I’m talking about. Does Thomas have something going on with Corbin? Does he like her or something?” I question as I turn to stare out at the trees trying to get my anger under control. I hear him sigh as I feel his hand on my forearm. “Eli, he has always had a crush on her. I never thought anything of it. Corbin was always stuck to your side when she is here.” I feel the tears filling my eyes. “You thought it wouldn’t be a good idea to clue me in.” I growl out as he quickly takes his hand back when I shake his hold off of me.
“I’m sure nothing is happening between them. Corbin stares at you the same way you stare at her. Please calm done and let’s go have some fun, huh.” I hear giggling coming from the trail as my head snaps towards the sound of Thomas and Corbin walking out of the trees holding hands. My eyes follow their every move as Thomas leans in and whispers something into Corbin’s ear. I watch as she throws her head back and laughs at whatever he just said.
“Sh*t.” I hear Evert say, as Thomas makes eye contact with me. The smile he gives me is not a nice one but one saying I got what you want. I watch as he turns back around and his hand cups Corbin’s face. Turning it as he lays a kiss on her. The tears start streaming down my face as I turn to Evert. “F*ck you man.” I say as I take off running hearing Evert yelling my name. I don’t stop or turn to look at what is going on behind me. I keep running like the fires of hell are on my heels. I have lost everything. I have no friends, no family, no Corbin.
I stop and scream as loud as I can until my voice is hoarse falling on the ground. My heart is broken, shattered.
New BeginningFour: Elijah I wake up to the sound of crickets. Opening my eyes, I notice I’m on the porch of the little cabin that my sister used to take me to when I was little. It is old and run down now but holds so many good memories. I asked her one time why we would always come here. “This is our safe spot, our safe haven away from all the chaos.” I smile as I remember her words. Even though at the time I didn’t know what those words meant. Being here brings a calmness to my soul that I really don’t understand. Taking a deep breath, I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. Pulling the effing thing out I wake it up. Seeing forty missed calls and a sh*tload of texts from everyone but my parents. Most of the messages are from Evert as well as the missed calls. I sigh as I think about what happened yesterday. That is when I feel the anger at my best friend hiding from me that his brother Tomas has feelings for the one person I have been in love with my whole lif
Where’s ElijahFive: Corbin We had just reached the King of Alpha’s pack, the Silver Claw Pack. I feel so excited to see Elijah once more. For the last couple of years, I haven’t been able to come as my Daddy and Dad wanted me to get some summer projects done for when it’s time for me to apply to colleges. I want to go into Supernatural studies and Efram College is the best, so I need the extra credits to be able to get in. It is the same college that my Aunt Izzy went to and met her Fated Mate. A dreamy sigh leaves my lips as I think of how romantic it must have been. How I just cannot wait to turn eighteen and find my own Fated Mate. “Hey, Cor.” I hear my sister as I look over at her she is driving us as our parents won’t be out until tomorrow. They are dealing with some pack business at the moment and couldn’t get away. “What’s up?” I ask as I see how she is nervously chewing on her bottom lip. “Tabby?” I say as she glances back at me. I hear the long sigh t
New School, New start Six: Elijah I stayed in the cabin all week long. My cell phone wouldn’t stop blowing up. It pissed me off so much that for the first time ever I turned the stupid thing off. I did nothing but think the whole week. Tabby stopped by on Wednesday morning handing me an envelope and my rolling suitcase. Telling me that her Daddy Dell gave it to her to give to me. That is one thing about her and Corbin. They tell their Daddy everything. That is how I now find myself Wednesday night on a bus heading to Alpha training school. Staring out the window with my earbuds in so no one will try and talk to the nerdy kid in the front row. I sigh as I am programing the new minute phone, which I had bought at the bus station. I left my old phone in the cabin. I am making myself stop thinking of Corbin. I will do like Tabby suggested and start fresh. I have two years to be out on my own before I have to go home. I will make this the best experience. I think
Roommate Seven: Elijah I feel my face is on fire as I scoop my underwear off the floor and put it in the top drawer of my dresser. “Wait a minute. I know who that is.” The feather light female voice says. Turning to look at her, I see her step forward pointing at me. “You’re Elijah Granger, aren’t you?” I gulp as I look at the other two as they stop laughing and are now staring at me. “No, it can’t be. The next Alpha King would have his own apartment. He wouldn’t be put in a dorm room.” The a*shole that called me a ‘Twink’ says. I sigh as I ignore them and keep unpacking my bag. I hear them argue as I shake my head. As they still are debating on who I am when I feel a heavy hand land on my shoulder. I flinch back as I step away, his hand falling off of me. I look up at him as he gives me a hesitant smile. “Don’t worry about them, they’re not right in the head. I think I gave them brain damage in our early childhood.” I chuckle as he offers his hand. “Hi, I’m
Questions and Answers Eight: Elijah “Hey man, I’m really sorry if I offended you by what I said.” I finally close my mouth as I look at Chad. His words were racing around in my head as suddenly Char elbows him hard in his side. “Of course, he is offended. F*ck dude you called him a name that reflects on a sexual preference that is degrading when he is not one.” I look over at Char as she is glaring at Chad. “Oh yeah, and how would you know? Huh?” I watch as the two argue and hear Char say. “Oh, believe me. Us she-wolves know.” As I hear Leo beside me. “You haven’t had your first shift yet have you?” Looking at Leo and he must have seen the answer written all over my face. I sigh looking down at my hands as I whisper out one word that is my complete undoing. “Tomorrow Night.” I say as the whole table get quiet. “What the hell are you doing here then. You should be home until after your first shift. What dumb ass sent you here before you’ve had your first shift
Getting Ready Nine: Elijah I still cannot stop thinking about yesterday. What Leo had told me. I sigh as I open the door to my dorm room. It has been a busy day today. It is now four in the afternoon. I had attended the open house. Receiving my class schedule then getting my books for classes that start on Monday. I set everything down on my desk. My body is starting to feel very heavy. During my research I have found out that a Werewolf before its first shift needs extra rest before midnight. That has got to be the reason why I’m feeling the way I am. I faceplant onto my bed and closed my eyes. I feel like I’m asleep but at the same time I’m wide awake. Floating somewhere in the middle. I can feel a presence with me like a pressure of someone or something trying to push its way through the walls of my mind. I hear the echo of a low growl that is completely different than any wolf I had ever heard before. It makes me remember the first time and only time my f
First Shift Ten: Elijah All I can feel is pain, so much pain that I’m whimpering from every shift and jostle I feel from being carried. Everything, all of a sudden comes to a stop as I hear a voice in my mind. ‘Open your senses. Let the moons light soak into your body.’ I open my eyes as I see I’m laying on the ground staring up at the full moon as its light shining down on me. I have this feeling that my clothes are too heavy, scratchy and uncomfortable. I start to tear at them as a feeling starts to well up inside of me. When I finally feel my body being bathed in the moon’s light, I feel a wave of calmness wash over me. I let out a sigh of relief until a wave of excruciating pain rolls through my body. My bones breaking as it rolls through me. I scream so loud I’m surprised that my throat doesn’t bleed. Rolling onto my belly, my back arching as my spine feels like its splitters and reshapes itself. That is when I hear whining. Through my pain I see the thr
Argument Eleven: Queen Savvy Peeling my eyes open I see that we are already home. Well, the only home that I know even if we don’t hardly spend any time here anymore. I hear my mate let out a tired sigh as I open the door not even waiting for him. I just want to get inside and rest for a week. Then maybe my body and powers will be replenished. I have never felt my powers being this low before. Being a Royal from the Witch Coven. My powers are what I count on so this is very concerning to me. For the last year now, I have been feeling weaker and weaker. As I open the front doors I walk into my home, my sanctuary. I let out a relived breath, that is until I see my angry housekeeper and friend Tina standing there tapping her foot like an angry momma waiting on her wayward teen to come home. “Tina, I’m really not in the mood right now. I’m too tired to deal with any issues.” I state feeling frustrated that she is still standing in front of me. I cross my arms ove
TheoriesSeventy-One: 3rd Person POV The gasp can be heard as Savvy chooses at that moment to wake back up. Everyone stares at her as she slowly sits back up. Looking around her eyes landed on Hascal. “Savvy, what is wrong with our son?” Randy asks as Lexi has tears running down her face, hovering over her son laying on the floorboard. With a sigh Savvy sits up as she leans back with the back of her hand pressed to her forehead. Lexi looks over at her with an imploring look written all over her face. “It’s the bond.” She states in a sad voice as Randy becomes stoned faced. “How can it be the bond when he rejected her?” Ronin suddenly asks. “Because she didn’t accept the rejection. They are still connected….” Randy says in almost a whisper. Looking at his son’s form laying in his mother’s embrace. She had somehow scooted herself on the floorboards, laying his head on her lap. “Don’t you remember the stories of Fated Mates from our childhoods?” Tobias says as he
Intense PainSeventy: Hascal It seems that I cannot get comfortable sitting in the car seat. My father, not trusting the rooms not being bugged in the Councils buildings. So, we are all jammed into one of the SUV limos. It is the King and Queen. Along with Ronin, Dell holding Corbin in the middle of them. And my parents are sitting by my side. “Son, what do you think about this all?” My eyes meet my father’s as he looks at me expectantly. I fidget once more on my seat. “Hascal, are you okay son?” My mom asks as she puts her hand on my forehead. I go to swipe her hand away. Feeling a slight pain in my stomach. I moan as I curl up into myself. “Hascal?” I hear screams as an intense pain hits me making me cry out as total darkness overtakes me.Meanwhile (3rd Person’s POV), “Oh, my Goddess. Randy, what the hell is wrong with our son?” Lexi screams out, clutching her son to her body. “Honey, calm down. He is fine.” He says as she looks at him with wide eyes. Randy
The DungeonsSixty-Nine: Elijah The look in my father’s face had me standing tall as two guards grabbed me by my upper arms. I hear my father’s warning growl as both hands quickly drop from my arms. Holding my head high, I follow the one in front of me as the other flanks me. I hear my Uncle Randy and Aunt Lexi arrive, their voices behind me. A sense of foreboding takes hold of me as we round the corner of the building. Looking around the grounds has me confused. I don’t see any families or pups anywhere. All there are a few males here and there. All of them were wearing the black robes of the Elders. Some tan ones that are Elders in training. Then of course you have the Council that wear the red robes with High Elder wearing red with black trim on his. “What is going on in this place Aragon?” I ask him as I feel his strong presents inside of me. Normally he is c*cky and full of information for me. Now he feels like he is full of anger for some reason. “Keep lo
Something Is Very WrongSixty-Eight: 3rd Person’s POV “Your job was simple. Get close to the Prince, worm your way into his heart. How did you mess this up so badly.” The High Elder glares at Char as he finishes raising the soundproof window between them and the driver. Char pulls her seatbelt over her shoulder without looking at her father. She knew what was coming. All he has ever cared about is establishing himself with as much power as he can. Never thinking of anyone but himself. Char sits back as she listens to her father’s heavy breathing. Knowing he is not done yet. That there is still more and if she tries to talk him down. It will just mean he will hit her for disobedience. “I guess you haven’t learned your lesson. When we get home, you will go back down to the dungeons.” Her heart breaks to think of what is to come. Her father, the heartless b*stard. “Well, what do you have to say for yourself?” He growls at her leaning forward. Getting right into he
Lieutenant Hascal MastersonSixty-Seven: Hascal Stepping out of the pack house. I see the six Elders already walking towards the Alpha Kings house. I release a sigh as I see the blond head and leigh body walking right next to her father, the High Elder Morris. Feeling my cell vibrate in my pocket. I start forward as I pull it out of my pocket. Looking at the screen, I see my mother’s name. Opening it quickly. “Where are you guys at. We are gathering now to leave.” I say softly not wanting others to overhear our conversation. “We are at home. We had to get some things. There is not enough time for us to get back. We will just meet you all there….” I grunt at my mother’s reply. “Son.” I hear my mother’s voice soften. Making me want to cry like I did when I was still a young pup, hiding behind my mother’s skirts. “Don’t do anything drastic like you did last night. Remember pup, Fated Mates are a gift from our Goddess.” I hear her say as a tear tries to escape my e
Randy and LexiSixty-Six: 3rd Person’s POV “We should have stayed at the Castle. We should never have left our son.” Lexi says wringing her hands as her husband and mate is at the bookshelves. She watches as he calmly pulls book after book out. Looking at the covers before tossing it aside. He hums her way before he picks up another book. Pissing Lexi off she walks right up to him, snagging the next book out of his hands. Making him look at her with a confused expression on his face. “Did you hear a word I just said. Don’t you understand what just happened to our son just hours ago!” She starts to shake with rage. Seeing the tears swimming in her eyes. Randy lets out a huff of breath as he pulls her in his arms, giving her a bone crushing hug. “Lexi, honey. Hascal is a man now. We have raised him well. He has good instincts and knowledge.” He says, pulling her away from him, looking her in her eyes. “Anyway, I would think you would be happy that he has the gift
BreakfastSixty-Five: 3rd Person’s POV Savvy enters the kitchen where Tobias is leaning against the counter. Sipping on his coffee. His head comes up as he looks at me. I cannot help the chuckle that escapes me as he raises his eyebrow. “What?” He asks me as I just smile walking towards him. “Those two remind me so much of myself.” She says taking his coffee cup from his hand, taking a drink of it. Turning, she sets the cup down with a smile on her face. Tobias moves behind his mate. Grabbing her by her hips as he smells her sweet scent. Burying his head into the crook of her neck, inhaling deeply. Hearing her giggle, he rubs his nose up her neck and to her ear. “What do you mean by that?’ He says nibbling her ear. “Corbin is finally coming into her own. I told her yesterday about how we met. How I let you go and how I decided to take charge. To take what was rightfully mine.” Tobias, still holding onto his mate’s hips. Throws his head back and laughs out loud.
Her Name is….Sixty-Four: Corbin As Eli sits me down on my feet right next to the bathtub. I cannot keep myself from touching him. I just have this urge inside of me to stay connected to him in some fashion. It is a need deep inside of me. Laying my hand on his shoulder, feeling the sensation of zaps running up my arm making my whole body feel like a live wire. Maybe it is because of what his father had said or because of my intuition. Eli turns his head and looks at me. “Hey, what’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?” I stand there staring down at him. His eyes now back to their normal green. I lift my hand off of his shoulder. Raising both hands to the top button of my shirt. Undoing it slowly. “I’m thinking of how much you mean to me. How I don’t want to live without you. How I will fight to my dying breath to keep you safe and sound because you are my heart and strength.” I say as a tear rolls down his face. I had just shrugged off my blouse. Sta
Too EarlySixty-Three: Corbin The pounding makes me sit up with a start on the bed as I feel Eli stir beside me, moaning. Looking at the door at the same time it swings open to see King Tobias smiling at me as I clutch the blanket to my chest. I’m still dressed but flabbergasted at his entry. Not to mention that I’m in an unfamiliar place. “Come on you two. It is time to get up. Come downstairs to the kitchen. Your mother and I need to talk to the two of you.” Tobias says as I hear Eli moaning. “Come on dad. It’s too early….” I chuckle at seeing his eyes barely cracked open staring at me as one of his hands are tucked under his cheek. His other hand is still resting on my leg that is closest to him. He gives it a squeeze making my heart pitter patter in my chest. “Sorry kid, but we have to get everything prepared and ready before the Elders show up here.” He says as Elijah sits straight up in bed, turning towards his father. I can see him shaking as power start
