Jasper's POV

As I hastily cleaned up the spilled beer, my eyes were drawn to her. She exuded a captivating aura, as though she belonged on the front cover of a magazine. It was as if a fairy godmother had worked her magic, transforming the unassuming maid into a stunning Cinderella. I found myself filled with regret for not having pursued her romantically instead of just settling for a business deal. Despite her undeniable beauty, I couldn't help but notice that she seemed to have a penchant for high-maintenance habits. She had received multiple calls about unpaid bills in the short time I had known her, and I wondered what she spent so much money on. Perhaps it was food, as I had never seen a woman eat so voraciously. Nevertheless, it was refreshing to be in the company of someone who defied societal norms and didn't care about appearances.

Unlike the other women I had dated, she didn't aggressively pursue me, but she had a knack for spending money just like them. It was perplexing - she clearly needed money, but her tastes were simple. Despite the fact that we would be living together for a year, I realized that I knew very little about her besides her name, address, and phone number.

As my friends were due to arrive soon, I decided to order some pizza and settled down in front of the television, clad in shorts and a t-shirt. However, I couldn't help but keep an eye on my watch, growing increasingly anxious as Cassandra had been gone for over an hour. What if she had changed her mind? Why hadn't I insisted on accompanying her? I chided myself for my foolishness, feeling apprehensive about her prolonged absence.

Suddenly, the sound of the doorbell rang out, and I jumped with relief. "Jasper," David called out with a broad smile, "you won't believe who I ran into outside." Cassandra emerged from behind him, and a sense of comfort washed over me.

"Where have you been?" I asked Cassandra, relieved to see her unharmed.

"I got lost," she responded, causing me to roll my eyes. David looked confused, indicating that Cassandra's poor sense of direction was not common knowledge.

"Cassandra, you really should work on your sense of direction," I said as I closed the door. She attempted to argue, but I gave her a stern look, and she appeared to understand, nodding slightly.

After removing her shoes and placing them neatly on the shoe rack, she hesitated before taking mine as well, and I couldn't help but find it amusing.

"Jasper!" she exclaimed, turning towards me. "How many times have I told you to always put your smelly and dirty socks in the laundry basket? Please don't leave them lying around next time."

I was taken aback by the sudden outburst from Cassandra, but as she tried to hide a smile, I realized she was just pulling my leg. "Oh, I'm sorry, honey. I'll put them away right away," I said, my own grin peeking through my attempt to hide it.

It was obvious that Cassandra and I were engaged in a playful game with each other, and poor David was caught in the middle, silently observing us. "Er, Cassandra," he started hesitantly, "who is this impostor, and where is the real Jasper?"

Cassandra burst into laughter, and I shot them both a fierce look, feeling annoyed that they were enjoying this situation at my expense.

"Jasper, Cassandra was just regaling me with the story of how you both first met. It's quite an entertaining tale," David interjected, trying to divert attention from our banter.

As I stole a glance at Cassandra, my anxiety surged. What had she revealed to David? Would our stories align? Despite my unease, she simply greeted me with a serene smile.

"What? I just told him the truth - that I once mistook you for a pervert and slapped you!" she retorted with a hint of sarcasm.

David's laughter filled the room, leaving him breathless for a moment. I couldn't let her teasing slide without a response. Without hesitation, I grabbed her and planted a fervent kiss on her lips. She blushed deeply, but I persisted.

Finally breaking the embrace, I proclaimed, "That's true. But then I kissed her and asked her to marry me." David's whistle reverberated through the room.

"Whoa, I'm gone for a month, and you're already hitched?"

I draped my arm around Cassandra, who was casting a disapproving glance at the dirty dishes in my sink. If I could win over David, convincing my parents of our love would be a breeze.

"Well, David," I responded, "Cassandra is truly unlike anyone I've ever dated before. She's not only beautiful, but she's also intelligent and confident. She's a force to be reckoned with."

David grinned, clearly entertained. "Ah, I see. Jasper has found a keeper."

Cassandra paid little attention to our banter, busy rummaging through my kitchen for something she needed. When she found it, she let out a small exclamation and quickly put on a pair of rubber gloves before diving into the dishes in the sink.

"Um, honey? Mrs. Madison will take care of that in the morning," I interjected.

Ignoring me, Cassandra replied firmly, "Jasper, this place would be an absolute mess if Mrs. Madison weren't here. You live like a slob!"

David snickered at her comment, leaving me speechless. It dawned on me that Cassandra was one of those meticulous, detail-oriented individuals. She reminded me of Tessy from "The Gossips." But hey, who didn't love "The Gossips"?

As Cassandra diligently scrubbed away, David and I decided to grab some beers and make ourselves comfortable in my living room.

"So, what's your take on Cassandra?" I asked David eagerly, curious to hear his opinion of her.

"Dude, she's absolutely stunning! And not just that, she's also really intelligent!" He exclaimed with a sense of awe, as if he had just uncovered a hidden gem.

I couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm, knowing deep down that Cassandra was so much more than just her good looks and brains. Despite our initial rough patch, I had come to appreciate her fiery spirit and independent nature. If I was going to marry her, she was exactly the kind of woman who would keep me on my toes.

As we waited for Cassandra to join us, I offered David a beer from the fridge, and we settled into the living room, engaging in some casual gossip.

Her determination and hard work, despite her challenging circumstances, left me in awe.As I observed Cassandra, I found myself developing a newfound respect for her. Shock registered in her widened eyes, but it was quickly replaced by a softness as Mrs. Madison wrapped her arms around me in a warm embrace. "Congratulations, my dear. You've certainly tamed this young man," she said with a kind smile.Jasper, on the other hand, looked less pleased by the attention. His expression hardened as he observed our interaction, clearly annoyed. I could feel the weight of my guilt settling in my stomach as Mrs. Madison went about her morning routine. The lie I had told was beginning to take its toll on me. I turned away before it could consume me entirely.I went to Jasper's room to retrieve my clothes, but as I held up my old purple t-shirt, I was met with his disapproving gaze. "You can't possibly wear that again," he remarked snidely.I shot him a sharp retort, but held my tongue as he reminded me of the charade we had agreed upon. After all, he was my boss, and I had to play along with this facade for the next year. It was super frustrating, to say the le

As I met his inquisitive gaze, he posed the question, "Shouldn't you tell her about your upcoming wedding?" My composure wavered, and I shook my head in response."It's not necessary for her to know," I replied, mustering a forced smile. "I'll visit her occasionally, and within a year, we'll both be single again."He seemed to want to press further, but he held back. Changing the topic, I took a sip of the lukewarm coffee that had been served by Mrs. Madison a few minutes ago and asked, "What does your dad do?"Jasper pondered for a moment before replying, "Have you heard of the renowned architect John Benson?"I couldn't help but snort, causing a large droplet of coffee to land on Jasper's less-than-attractive T-shirt. "You mean the John Benson? The mastermind behind Benson Enterprises?" I clarified.Jasper smirked, clearly pleased that I recognized his father's achievements. With a portfolio spanning across the globe, John Benson was undeniably wealthy. "Yes, that's him," Jasper conf

After ending my phone call, I noticed Cassandra approaching me with a confident stride. She had finished her work earlier than usual, thanks to her exceptional efficiency. "You're a fortunate man, Mr. Jasper. She's truly a gem!" I remarked with a smile before bidding her farewell. I couldn't help but feel grateful for Cassandra's presence, especially considering my previous girlfriends who often left in disgust.I went in search of Cassandra and found her in my room, meticulously organizing the clothes and shoes we had bought the day before. Her attention to detail was impressive, but my curiosity quickly turned to concern as I watched her open my cupboard. To my horror, all my belongings came crashing down, burying Cassandra under a pile of clothes, books, and sports equipment.I rushed to her aid, trying to suppress my laughter as I pulled her out of the chaos. To make matters worse, she had inadvertently put on an old girlfriend's underwear on her head. It was an embarrassing sight,

As we gazed into each other's eyes, a lump formed in my throat, and I took a step back, attempting to dispel the overwhelming emotions that were washing over me."Sorry, I just couldn't handle your singing any longer, so I grabbed the towel and escaped," he joked, making fun of my off-key singing. Annoyed, I grabbed a pillow and hit him on the head with it.What ensued was a brief yet unforgettable pillow fight that released the tension and brought us closer together. I emerged triumphant from the fray, aided by Jasper's momentary distraction with his towel. While he hurriedly tossed his pillow aside and secured his towel, I landed a few firm blows and claimed victory. After the excitement subsided, we both rushed to get ready for the day ahead.I styled my hair in a chic crown and left the rest flowing down my back, adding a touch of clear lip gloss. Completing my appearance with a pair of exquisite gold ballet flats that we had bought, I couldn't help but ponder how quickly time had

All of a sudden, my eyes locked onto someone making their way towards us, their face adorned with a wide, insincere grin. My grip on my glass tightened instinctively as I braced myself. And there he was, the one person I despised more than anyone else."Jasper, my man!" Nick exclaimed, reaching out for a hug. I quickly raised a hand to stop him, denying him any physical contact. Cassandra and Nuella returned from the restroom just then, and I felt my jaw clenching as Nick looked at me with disappointment, clearly expecting a warmer reception. You might be wondering who Nick is. Well, he used to be one of my closest friends, until I caught him and my girlfriend in a compromising position a year ago. They both begged for forgiveness, but I made the painful decision to cut them out of my life. Julie was the only woman I had ever given my heart to, and she had shattered it into a million pieces.I held Cassandra tightly, feeling the warmth of her body and the intoxicating scent that envelo

"Man, Jasper, that was absolutely epic!" David exclaimed, playfully punching my arm with a wide grin on his face.I was caught off guard, staring at him in surprise."What?" David questioned, still grinning. "Don't tell me you didn't feel alive," he said with a playful tone.A slow grin spread across my face as I processed the rush of adrenaline from our recent adventure. "Hell yeah," I replied enthusiastically. In no time, David, James, and I were laughing hysterically like a bunch of fools, while Nuella looked on with a bewildered expression. She muttered something about the foolishness of boys under her breath, but it only made us laugh harder. We chatted animatedly for a while longer before deciding it was time to leave. I hopped into my car and glanced over at Cassandra, who was still sound asleep, looking serene and almost childlike. The memory still stung, and my voice faltered as I recounted it. "But one day, I came home early from my internship, and I caught them together. Nick and Julie, well... you know."Cassandra gasped, pulling me closer. For a moment, I felt like I could release the pain and find comfort in her embrace."I'm sorry," she whispered softly. "It's ironic, really. I used to believe that Julie was my only source of true happiness. If I ever married anyone, it would have been her. But I was wrong. Now, I don't place much importance on that kind of thing."I looked at Cassandra, her expression filled with sorrow. "Not everyone is the same, Jasper," she said with genuine sympathy. Her words touched me, and I knew she meant them. Despite Julie being my first choice for a life partner, I had never seen the kindness and understanding that Cassandra showed me that evening in anyone else's eyes.I grinned widely at her and teasingly replied, "That was just the beginning of my escapades, one conquest aft

After precisely two months of reconciling with Noah , I made the decision to organize a surprise birthday celebration for him. With his 33rd birthday approaching, my aim was to create an intimate and elegant party to honor him. To bring this event to life, I sought the assistance of his closest friends, Fredrick and Jamiu, as well as his parents. They were all eager to contribute and help organize the occasion. Today, his family will be traveling from Spain to Seattle to attend the party, which will take place at the lavish residence of their family friend, Mr. Matthew Dawnson, a billionaire tycoon.Marilyn, who suggested the venue, assured me that Matthew's house in Seattle was the ideal location for the type of party I have envisioned. As it turns out, she was absolutely correct. The mansion occupied a vast expanse of land that seemed to extend infinitely, bordered by the tranquil waterfront of Kirkland lagoon. It felt as though we've stepped into a breathtaking Caribbean paradise r

Acting on a tip from Marilyn, I decided to visit one of Noah's clubs where an artist signed to his record label was performing tonight. Noah was unaware of my surprise visit, although he knew his mother had come to see me earlier. She had asked if she should inform him about my desire to meet up, but I declined, as I was the one who had cut ties with him and explicitly forbade him from contacting me again. As I approached the entrance, the bouncers inquired if my name was on the guest list. For the first time, doubts crept into my mind, questioning the wisdom of my impromptu visit. A sense of déjà vu washed over me, reminiscent of the day months ago when I went to Noah's residence for an unexpected meet up. That particular evening marked the beginning of our relationship and held the significance of our first intimate encounter. The memory brought a smile to my face, instilling in me the confidence to proceed with my purpose for the night.Approaching one of the colossal bouncers, I

I was delighted to have his company, and thanks to him, we stayed up later than usual, engaging in enjoyable games, a family karaoke session, and indulging in the junk food he had brought along.Luckily, today was Saturday, so there was no need to wake up at the crack of dawn to prepare for school and work. Samuel was still asleep on the couch in the living room where we had left him the previous night. I signaled to the girls to be quiet as we stealthily made our way to the kitchen to prepare breakfast."What are we having for breakfast?" Anna inquired eagerly. "I'm famished!""Shh! Let's not wake up Uncle Samuel ," Bella admonished her sister in a hushed tone."I agree," I responded softly. "After entertaining us so well last night, he deserves to rest.""Can we have eggs

As the new school year approached, my enthusiasm surpassed even that of my children. They often wondered what made me so cheerful. I was genuinely delighted to embrace the return of a structured routine. Each day held a sense of purpose: escorting my daughters to school, proceeding to work after bidding them farewell, accomplishing our weekly grocery shopping, enjoying quality time with my girlfriends every other weekend, and sporadically receiving visits from my siblings. These engagements filled my days with various activities, diverting my attention from ruminating about Noah and whether he and Reina managed to establish a connection after that dreadful morning four and a half months ago. It's astonishing how swiftly time has flown by!Interrupting my thoughts, Joe jovially exclaimed, "Knock, knock! This morning's breakfast was a delightful and uncomplicated affair. I indulged in fried bean cakes, accompanied by corn pudding generously adorned with milk and sugar, and a serving of freshly baked bread. As I savored each bite, a rush of nostalgia envelopped me, transporting me back to my cherished childhood. It was during those Saturday mornings that my mother would skillfully prepare this delightful combination, her dedication evident after hours of meticulously cleaning the house and its surroundings. Ah, the fond memories of those days gone by.Noah, observing me intently with an inquisitive smile, playfully remarked, "Seems like our chef deserves a raise, considering the immense joy on your face. I never knew you were such an ardent fan of bean cakes. Or perhaps it's the velvety-smooth pudding that has brought about such happiness?"A gentle chuckle escaped my lips as I responded, "Not exactly. The atmosphere in the car was heavy with silence as Noah and I made our way back to his house. The palpable tension reflected Noah's evident annoyance and embarrassment over the deplorable treatment I received from his parents during my inaugural visit to their home. While my family may not be affluent, I am certain that they would never exhibit such overt rudeness towards someone they were meeting for the first time. Age should not be a point of contention, and there is certainly nothing inherently terrible about having children. Yet, they made me feel as if I were afflicted with a contagious disease. Why did Marilyn, in particular, direct such venomous hostility towards me from the moment she laid eyes on me? And as for Reina , what is her ulterior motive? As we pulled up to Noah's house, his sour mood still hung in the air. I am torn about whether I should offer an apology to him, even though it was I who should feel offended, not him. As we reached the backyard, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Noah's father didn't match the image I had in my mind. Unlike what I expected, the elderly Taylor was tall, slender, and attractive, with hair that's gracefully greying. On the other hand, I couldn't help but feel annoyed when I saw Reina , who looked like she was part of the family. She was wearing tiny shorts that barely covered her buttocks, paired with a cropped knit top that showcased her extremely flat stomach. Her short hair was styled into shiny finger curls, complemented by sleek baby hairs at the front. She was also sporting a pair of Gucci slides, partially concealing her feet. As soon as she spotted me, she casted a deliberate, slow glance from my head to my toes, making it abundantly clear that she didn't welcome my presence. "Hello, Father!" Noah enthusiastically greeted his dad, extricating himself from his mother and approaching his father. "Hey, son!" Exclaimed the older Taylor , stepping forward t

Our sleep schedule had been adjusted since arriving in Spain, causing this unexpected phone call to catch us off guard."Darn it, I should have turned off my phone last night," Noah grumbled into his pillow.
