"Felicia, answer me honestly. Do you like Zach? And what I mean is, do you like him now?"

"Do I like him? Of course, I do! I wouldn't want to be with him otherwise."

Then, she continued, "But liking him isn't the same as loving him. I like him, and that's about it. After all, what's not to like about a rich and handsome man? But I won't love him, nor will I sacrifice anything for him."

Loving and liking were two different things.

One would easily like an attractive person they passed by on the street. But that was only limited to liking the person.

They would not do anything for the person, nor would they sacrifice their interests to help that person.

Love, however, was much greater than that. One could give everything up for love and even risk getting hurt for it. Even if it meant giving their lives up, they would do it for love.

Felicia drew a clear line between like and love. That was why she emphasized that what she felt for Zach was a mere liking, not love.
