Chapter 280

It was quiet in the master bedroom. The stars were especially bright that night. Summer fell into a daze as she stood on the bright tiles.

"What's wrong?" James asked, "Did you not meet Eleanor today?"

"Yes, I met her. But how did you know?"

"Because she told me," James replied without looking at Summer. He was working and sat on his office chair with his back toward her.

Summer felt ominous. Her sixth sense was telling her that James might be hiding something from her. Maybe she had become more alert because of everything she had gone through recently.

She slowly went up to James.

James also turned around to face her. His sharp, dark eyes met her gaze.

"What? Is there anything going on?" he asked. He sat upright, and the expression on his handsome face remained the same. It didn't seem like he was hiding anything.

Looking at him, Summer started to question if it was all in her head. Anyone could be plotting against her in the Quigley residence, but not James.
