Chapter 241

When one of the stray dogs had noticed Howe and Susanne, it had bared its canines and leaped over to them after letting out several loud barks.

They had been in an extremely dangerous situation. When Howe saw that, he had immediately turned to run away out of fear.

But Susanne had tugged at a corner of his shirt and sobbed, "Howe, I'm scared!"

"Let go! I'm scared too! I'm terrified!"

Howe had been so scared that he had wrenched Susanne's hand off his shirt without further contemplation.

However, she'd had a vise-like grip on his shirt, so Howe had had no choice but to push her away to free himself.

Susanne had stumbled and fallen into the mud. It had given Howe the perfect opportunity to escape, so he had fled without so much as a backward glance.
