Chapter:06:In Three Days:

Oblivious to the man's intense gaze, Ivy hurriedly spruced up her hair. Add a little touch of makeup to her face, to hide the fact that she had just finished crying.

After that, she hurriedly left the restroom.

He stood aghast at the sight of the young woman.

Shaun Powers was so lost in a daze that he didn't realize when the young woman left.

Jerking out of his daze and didn't find her. Shaun Powers became alarmed.

He quickly brought out his phone and dialed a number.

“Find this woman now!”

His voice was authoritative, and his eyes held a firm look as he spoke without blinking his eyes.

Immediately he said that he dropped the call and stormed out of the restroom with his usual aloof and cold personality that instantly drives the people away from his presence.

Ivy took a cab to the hospital after leaving the hotel. She didn't want to go home directly after suffering such an unpleasant day.

Losing her job at the hotel was a big blow to her mission and going home to face the members of her family was a bigger blow in the face.

Arriving at the hospital, Ivy quickly adjusted the expressions on her face. She didn't want to cause any worries to the person she was visiting.

Just as she entered the reception desk, the receptionist walked up to her with a letter in hand.

“Hi, Miss Ivy. The doctor asked to give this letter to you” The receptionist with a smile on her face and held out the piece of paper in her hands.

Even though she wasn't supposed to be surprised by this, she was still shaken.

She took a few seconds before she finally recollect herself and hastily took the piece of paper from the young receptionist, who was still standing in front of her with a gentle expression.

“Thank you, Lola. ” She smiled“Where is the Doctor right now?” She asked after taking the letter

“ The doctor might still be in his office” She replied.

“Okay, thank you. I'll go see him”

She took the letter and walked away from the reception desk. After walking a few distances, she picked up the letter to have a look at the content.

The truth is that she was already aware of what the content of the letter would be.

“I'm sorry, Miss Ivy, if you are unable to arrange for the bills in 24 hours, we won't have any other choice but to have your grandmother discharged”.

Her eyes welled up with tears as soon as she finished reading the letter.

How could she arrange the sum of five hundred thousand in twenty-four hours?

Where would she go and who will be willing to borrow such a large sum of money?

It's ridiculous to even think of her family members as an option. On top of that, she had just lost her job at the hotel where she learns a little bit of the money needed.

She wiped her tears and decided to go look for the doctor first, at least she could beg him for a little bit more time to arrange for the money.

Knocking at the door in front of the doctor's office, Ivy was nervous about what she was going to do.

She was scared the doctor might not agree to extend the deadline of the payment since she has always used up several chances.

However, her grandmother's health was much more important than her fears.

“Yes, come in” She heard the loud and clear voice of the male doctor answered from inside the office.

She gathered her vigor and pushed the door open, then she entered nervously.

“Doctor Maxwell, it's me, Ivy.” She said as she took a slow calculated step into the office.

“Oh, Ms. Ivy. What brings you here” Doctor Maxwell stood up from his chair and walked to the front.“ Bad manners, Please have a seat” He bashed himself and said.

“No, thank you. Dr.Max, I'm begging you, please give me a little more time to pay up the money. Don't have my grandma discharged just yet, she's not well enough to leave the hospital”

Ivy pleaded with tears in her eyes. She tried so hard to hold back her tears from falling. However, the emotions in her heart were too much to bear.

Dr. Max looked at her with emotions. His expression was filled with pity for the young girl but he didn't have the power to make the decision.

“I'm sorry, Miss Haddock, but my hands are tied. The management has decided to evict her from the hospital due to her failure to pay up the medical fees. I'm really sorry, but there is nothing I can do about this”.

“Please Dr. Max, you can do something about my grandma's stay. She can't leave the hospital now”.

“I really can't do anything about it anymore, just pay up the money, and your grandmother will continue her treatment at the hospital. Otherwise, the hospital management will have her evicted from the hospital if you fail to pay up the money in the next twenty hours” Dr. Max said with a calm voice.

“I don't have the money yet but I'm going to pay up as soon as possible, just give me a little more time please”.

“Alright, I will talk to the hospital director to give you two more days. You should be able to come up with a sufficient amount in three days..... I mean, if you failed this time, even I won't be able to help you again”

“Okay, thank you so much, doctor. Thank you” Ivy said with a tone filled with emotions, she was trying to hold back the pain in her chest.

Ivy left the doctor's office with a heavy heart. She looked very sad and had a heavy expression on her face.

Walking to the ward where her grandmother was staying, she quickly switch expressions and had a sweet smile on her face.

She walked into the ward. Opening the door to the room, her eyes were watered.

She held the knob and slowly walked into the room with a heavy heart.

Her eyes fell on the page figure of her grandmother and her eyes watered immediately, she couldn't hold back the tears anymore and mumbled a tear.

She walked into the room fully and sat beside the old woman, she took hold of the old woman's hand and caressed it gently.

“Grandma, nothing will happen to you. I won't let anything happen to you, I promise, grandma”. She muttered bitterly.

Ivy was about to break down in tears.

Then, she suddenly noticed a movement in her hands.

Looking down, she saw the old woman moving her hands slowly as she struggled to wake up.

Seeing this, Ivy dabbed her eyes and wiped the lingering tears under her eyelids.

“Grandma! Grandma, are you awake ?” Ivy stood up and look at her grandmother's face.

“Oh, my little girl!” Grandma Ura beamed with joy as soon as her eyes fell on her granddaughter.

“Oh grandma, you are finally awake. I miss you so much. You don't know how much I missed you grandma” Ivy smiled amidst tears.

“Why are you crying, little girl? Do you want your old woman to cry as well?” Mrs. Haddock asked.

“No, grandma. I don't want you to cry, I'm just so happy to see you” Ivy said.

“I'm so happy to see you again, my little rock.....I'm sorry for being a burden to you, know it's not easy for you and it's all my fault you are in this predicament, I'm sorry” Mrs. Haddock Sr said in an apologetic tone as she looked at Ivy with pity.

“What are you saying, grandma? How can you be a burden to me? You are not a burden to me and you were never a burden to me, do you hear me?”.

Mrs. Haddock smiled bitterly and her pale face held great emotions. She looked at Ivy with so much compassion in her eyes and wished to lessen her burdens.

With a curled side smile Ivy said, “Don't worry grandma, you will get better soon. I'm arranging for your surgery in three days. After that, you'll be able to go back home with me”.

“It's such a huge amount of money. You won't be able to arrange for the money, you shouldn't even bother with it, dear. I'm very old now, it's not bad for me to go rest now” Mrs. Haddock said with a light tone.

“You dare not talk about leaving me again, grandma. How can you say such a thing without batting an eye?. As I said, I'm going to arrange for the money, you don't have to be wary of this”.

“Alright, I won't say that again”.

Ivy nodded. Then, picked up the basket of fruits and vegetables on the table and helped her grandmother to cut a few apples.

She fed her with some fruits and veggies, after that she urged the old woman to sleep as she prepared to leave.
