SAGE

A recurring clang of a metal stirred me awake from dark oblivion. Once I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was my dirty hand in front of my face. The hard surface I was lying on slightly hurting my back so I got up, rubbing the back of my neck to soothe the pain away. Blinking my eyes from haziness, I looked at surrounding and the fire torch attached on the murky wall lightened my sight a bit. In an instant, a flash of memories ran through my mind like a film in fast forward. My eyes roamed around in panic, realizing that I was inside a jail cell made of stone walls and rusty metal bars. The place didn't even have windows so I couldn't event tell the time right now.

Where the hell is this place?!

"I'm glad you're awake," a voice from a man startled me, causing my head to jerk to where it came from.

As my eyes eventually adjusted in the dark, I was almost relieved that I wasn't alone in this filthy place, seeing Mr. Irvine across my spot——chained behind the bars of his own ja

SAGEI didn't how long we were here already, in this gross and dark room full of prison cells. The place looked like a part of dungeon made to detain high-rated criminals centuries ago. I was getting worried about my Mom but I wouldn't be able to know about her well-being if I was stuck here. I just hoped she was okay because as I remembered, she was shot on her shoulder before Sarah knocked me out.Mr. Irvine kept on smashing his chains against the solid wall but they wouldn't budge at all. He suspected that maybe it had some witchcraft in it along with its silver function to dwindle his strength and senses. He even tried to communicate through their mind link but it was all in vain. That Dana, or rather Sarah was telling the truth when she said that this place wasn't in town."What's Aria like?" I asked, glancing at the father of my girlfriend. We were both facing each other from our cells. To occupied ourselves from hunger, thirst and exhaustion, we decided to rest for a while and

VALKYRIEI'd been pacing around the living room of the squared barracks for a while now when my Mom arrived at last. Her eyes scanned the busy place as everyone's hands were full, tending to the injured warriors we just brought here minutes ago."Where's your father?" she questioned the minute she approached us."He's gone," Vance answered, gripping his hair in frustration. "As soon as Val answered Sage's call, she quickly grasped what was happening so we drove there so fast with the others who were present during the training awhile go. But when we arrived there, we were already too late.""They took them to god knows where," I cried out, sitting down on the chair in defeat. "Not only they took Dad, they also captured Sage along. Dammit! I should've been there, Mom. If only I accompanied her——""Val, it's not your fault. Set aside your regrets first. We should talk about what to do instead," Mom stated and it astounded me how she was able to keep herself organized, knowing Dad was in

VALKYRIEThanks to our durability, we were able to keep ourselves up all night while we waited for Vida's team to finish up with the injured while she was tending to Mrs. Sullivan. Gwen told me that Ava was so worried about her wife and daughter and Ingrid was the one who went to her to support her. The shootout at the Mayor's villa was the most trending news in the town, especially when the mayor itself just died while the rest of the police who were there barely survived. The media even announced the disappearance of my father, Flora and Sage but what shocked me the most was Primrose——that she'd been missing since Friday all along. Hence why I didn't see her at school at all.For some reason, that revelation made Gwen and Cayde more agitated. There was a lot going on under our watch and that proved that the enemies were controlling the situation so well. I couldn't even predict what they really wanted from my father. Particularly, from Sage and Primrose. While we waited, Vance and E

VALKYRIE'Hey, are we sure about this?' Vance asked through our mind link. Peeking through the rear-view mirror, I stared at Iris briefly who was sitting between Cayde and Gwen in the back seat. Unfortunately, Oliver wanted Esther in the territory to supervise the guard duties so she didn't come with us.'No, absolutely not. We just met her yesterday but this is the only leads we have,' I responded, shifting my gaze back to my brother. He quickly swerved his Jeep into a shortcut, avoiding the main road. The pack made this path all over the town for this purpose anyway.Vance gripped his wheel hard. 'I hope this is not an ambush or——'"I know what you guys are thinking even if you won't say it out loud," Iris suddenly interrupted, her eyes locked on mine through the rear-view mirror this time. "I'm not going to convince you otherwise though. Just listen to your gut.... or whatever."I narrowed my eyes at her, scrutinizing the tedious expression on her face. Among all the Wolf Grave I'd

SAGE"Get up, grime!" Lucas' scream distraught me in alarm.Pulling myself up, I looked at Mr. Irvine in dread while Sarah's freaky goons opened his cell and unlocked his chains from the thick ring metals that were attached on the ground. "Where are you taking him?!"The hybrid smirked at me before unlocking my cell too. "Not only him, poor girl. You too!"Once he entered my cell, I gathered all my strength then punched him on the face. However, it felt like I struck the hardest wall on earth, causing me to yell in pain. I bent down on my knees, gripping my damaged fist while they laughed me."This one is a fighter," Lucas exclaimed, then dragging me out of cell.I stared at Dimitri and he had this deep burden in his face while they held him both in his arms. We got out of the room, only to be towed into a single path. Apparently, they loved walking in the dark or it was just me because they were creatures of the night. No amount of light touched the place, just pure darkness holding

SAGEThe fervor scorching to my soul never faltered since it began to consume all my thoughts, burning me from within. Its heat crawled to my skin, eating my flesh into nothing and crushed all what was left of me. As I continue to scream in tremendous pain, my teary gaze moved towards the cause of my suffering. My hand tried to reach out for them yet they were too far away. Sarah glanced at me first before she joined her underlings, going for the approaching battle. I blinked my eyes to the wicked witch who was standing over Dimitri with a sharp dagger in her hand. She began to shout ancient words as her voice echoed all over the place like a hang drum playing with stone.'Embrace me,' a familiar voice materialized along the swelling ache in my mind. But I couldn't even respond, troubled by the desire of wanting to save Dimitri and Primrose from their deathbed. The wind howled and the torches sung with it as the fire within me seemed to want to burst out. All I wanted was for this to

VALKYRIE"This is inconvenient," Gwen complained at the blackness of the labyrinth. However, we were already accustomed with the dark of the night because our eyes could see even the edge of the shadow. We were the creatures of the night in the first place as vampires. So even the labyrinth didn't even had a speck of light, we could see just fine. There were five squads that tagged along with Vance, Enzo, Wan, Oscar and me as their leaders. Of course, Cayde and Gwen was in my unit. Each unit had three deltas while the rest of our warriors remained back home and supervised by Esther. We had no idea how many our enemies were, or rather those hybrids but we had no choice but to infiltrate their hideout. The more time we waste, the more father and my mate would be in danger."You shouldn't have come with us," Cayde said, clicking his tongue. "Don't worry, We'll make sure to bring Sage in one piece. Especially, Primrose if ever she's here."Gwen raised one of her arms, snapping her fingers

I wanted her death to be tragic.Power—— the one I needed to fulfill my vengeance. Clenching my fist, I roared, letting the grief consume me. My skin fired up while my flesh tightened, longing to rip her apart. Somehow, my own misery urged a hidden force within me as I sprinted to Dana. So fast she wasn't able to avoid my claws slashing her body. I took advantage of this adrenaline rush, not giving her a chance to even breathe. And those blemishes were the embodiment of our memories you had with them. But did our suffering truly ended after our victory? Or it would just create another, damaging our lives once again? That——that would be something I wouldn't be able to know as I was just limited to the reality of the moment. One thing was for sure. Blood was shed. Tears had fallen on the same earth where it all began. But here we were, healing each other to achieve peace among our kind. SAGEContained by intense grief, we all fell into silence. The large tree behind us scorched in fire, portraying hell in the darkness. We all watched it fade into ashes, words hidden in our mouth.Val and I reduced to our human form. And Gwen was quick to cover us with her coat."Hey, where's Vance? Why——Why I can't feel him anymore?" I heard Esther questioned, causing an ache to my chest. If she couldn't sense her mate anymore, then Vance was already....Val hung her head low, her tears were streaming down on her cheeks. Her heart was filled with diverse emotions—— guilt, regrets and extreme frustration. She couldn't face her best friend as she failed her——we all failed her. I hugged her close to me, crying my eyes out. She just lost his father and now this? Why was the world so cruel to my precious mate?"I'm sorry. He——He didn't make it. We couldn't do anything," Cayde was the only one who had the courage to answer her.Esther looked at us, seeking validation. I stared back at her,

SAGE"We're here," Wan declared. We all ceased running. Looking over my shoulder, I held the sight of the Olcan Hill across the Maelstorm we hiked through. Although it was already nighttime, I still could see the lights from the square barracks and the manor from where we were standing. The location of the passage that they were talking about was just near the edge of the hill. The terrain was quite complicated so no ordinary person could climb through the area unless they were like us. We brought a team of deltas with us as this was a rescue mission to retrieve Enzo's family. And to my surprise, Val also brought me along in this mission. Maybe because she was still feeling guilty over what happened yesterday at the Wolf Grave territory. She wanted to make me feel that she trusted me. Needless to say, my best friends also tagged along because it was also their job to protect me. Their parents were also part of the Phantom before, the two apprentices who fought along with Sara to be ex

VALKYRIEAfter they took Zak to heal his wounds, we were led to the house of the Claw and we talked about how to solidify our alliance with the Wolf Grave more. As expected, they were demanding to take Sage into their territory but I strongly declined as she was my mate. Aside from that, Sage mentioned her human parents, shutting them down flatly. They also offered Iris and the twin to be her personal bodyguard which Sage declined too. However, it seemed that they were too adamant about this so they suggested transferring to our school next year. Then we proceeded about our war against Amelia and her notorious hybrids.Once the meeting ended, we drove home, promising to the Wolf Grave Pack to develop our alliance further and set things up now that Sage had finally claimed the Alpha position. The whole time, my mate was disregarding me, even blocking me in her mind. I could feel a bit of her disappointment though. She had her reason because I didn't trust her and acted on our own again

VALKYRIEThere was nothing greater than the morning when you were on the bed, kissing your girlfriend senseless. Not to mention that we were both naked under the sheet as I hovered above her body. These past few days were so eventful with school and the training after. Add more our task as the new Alpha of our pack. Finding time for our intimate session was quite challenging and there were her parents too who demanded to have Sage stay at home as she should. They just let her do the ceremony last Monday because my Mom asked them politely. So having her slept here last night because it was already the weekend was already a blessing to me. And we didn't even hesitate to jump at each other once we were alone in my personal cabin. I had no idea how many times we'd done it but it was truly bliss. However, it seemed that we weren't still satisfied yet that as soon as we woke up a while ago, we made love once again.Sage cradled me inside her embrace while stroking my hair soothingly. I nuzz

*trigger warning*SAGEEvery pair spread out in the woods to give themselves privacy for the training. Oscar just remained at the square barracks to train those members who were under him while the others were guarding the territory for the meantime. The rest of the pack who specialized in aiding the household were either helping with the ceremony or were in the kitchen to prepare the foods for later.Sara was bringing me into the woods just a few meters away. I still could hear my friends and Val near us. We stopped at the middle of a small meadow which was enclosed by tall trees. Snow fell just this morning so the area looked like it was sprinkled with white flour. Beneath the glow of the afternoon, the brilliance of the winter brought the world to a new shine."Sage, before we begin, is there any chance that you'd call me your Mom," Sara suddenly blurted out when she turned around to face me.I blinked at the question that was thrown at me unexpectedly. Then I grew speechless as my

SAGEThe way their bodies moved as they strode towards us was enough sign that they were cautious with their surroundings. Sarah watched the newly arrived members of the Wolf Grave sauntering past her. She was gonna follow them next but she was halted by my Mom who was unaware of the situation. I'd mentioned to her that Sarah was also a victim of our enemies but it didn't mean she'd already forgiven her for posing as a werewolf hunter to trick her and then abducting me after. Aside from that, my parents also didn't know that she's my biological mother yet. I didn't even know how to tell them.Shifting on my feet, I extended my hearing and focused on their conversation."What are you doing here?" Mom hissed at her but not loud enough to bring attention."Flora, I-I'm sorry—""Your daughter invited her," Veronica interrupted in between. Mom clenched her jaw before she glanced at me which I responded with a reassuring nod. Her face held confusion but eventually let go of Sarah's arm. My

VALKYRIEIt was Saturday evening and I was on my way to Sage to sleep for tonight there when Wan came to inform that Iris of the Wolf Grave demanded to talk to us. We were expecting this already though. Their pack would eventually get out of control as a result of taking their Alpha out of the picture. So I told Delta Wan to let her through the territory. But before that, I linked with Sage through her mind and told her that I would be late to have an important conversation with the Wolf Grave.'Make sure to tell me what's going on,' she said after then blocked me out. I had no idea why she had to do that though but I sensed her desire a while ago to the extent that I nearly made an excuse not to go with Vance in the labyrinth. However, I quickly decided against it because we needed to plant a trap there in regards to our plan in outing the traitor. As usual, the twin towed behind her when she arrived at the camp villa. Everyone was puzzled at their arrival but the Wolf Grave's Deltas

That cheerio girl was asking what time exactly is the barbeque party tomorrow which reminded me that I had to come with my Mama to the town supermarket to buy stuff for the said party.I was kinda feeling it now: the double-life scenario—— a human and a werewolf. I wasn't complaining though but I knew that I had to put in a lot of extra effort. Luckily, I already have the energy to endure my day as werewolves could keep themselves awake for four days at most, depending on their stamina and on the phase of the moon.
