KOLTEN ZEDEKIEL'S POINT OF VIEW
"Hey, Astrid! It's been a while." Her big brother pulled and placed her at his back as Dax greeted her when he walked toward our direction. He was the captain ball of the team of our opponent. He used to be an old friend of Astrid's brother, but things changed as he wanted to get the position of him being the captain ball when they were both still at Haven Eastwood University.
"Let's just play," I said and forcedly threw him the ball. He used to like Astrid and that thought, irritated me so much.
"Keep this for me." I handed her my silver necklace. She just smiled and lightly nodded her head before accepting it from me.
We were leading until the first half ended.
"Do you like her? Don't you?" He asked while chuckling as I was driving the ball. I just gave him an indignant stare as a response.
"Let me have her if we win!" I smirked before hardly throwing the ball on his face. Kuya Ashton punched him that was how the riot began. Astrid's face was distorted with rage. She held my hand and looked at my fist to check it.
"Why did you threw the ball on his face?" She exasperatedly asked, but I guess I did not have a choice but to let her talk.
"Kolten..." I walked in Ashton's direction as he called me. He might have an important matter to be discussed as he casually folded his arms around his chest.
"Thanks, man." He said while smiling and gently threw his arms on my shoulder.
"There's no need to, bro. I'll do it anyway, whatever the cost." I simply answered and gave him a soft punch on his stomach.
"So it's a yes?" He seriously asked seemed like teasing me. I barely looked down before turned back my attention to him.
"I'm not going to deny it, but I respect you a lot, you know that." He threw his hand on my shoulder before he chuckled as he might notice how I struggled while explaining.
"Don't worry, I know about it." I looked at Astrid, who was now treating Orion's face and seemed like scolding him.
I used to sleep in Orion's place since it took almost twice a month before Mom and Dad go home. So I am just alone in our house.
"What happened to your face?" Orion deeply sighed as her five-year-old little sister looked so worried as she saw some of our bruises. She was so cute while holding her brown teddy bear that he used to call Flynn since she wanted it to have my second name. She always wants us to join her while playing with her kitchen tools, I guess. She's so sweet and always asks me to marry her when she grows up.
"It's nothing, baby." He answered and looked at me as if thinking a great excuse.
"Did you two fight?" It looked like she was going to cry as her eyes turned red and her tears were about to fall any moment.
"Of course not, Sani. He is our brother, right? So, we did not fight with each other. So don't tell Mom and Dad, okay? We will play tomorrow! I'll buy you more knives for your restaurant. Do you like it, right?" He tried to convince her, in the form of bribery!
"Really? We're going to play with him?" She looked at me with her round eyes as she giggled. Orion hardly nudged me and seemed like he wanted me to ride on.
"Y-Yeah, tomorrow," She giggled and immediately changed the expression of her eyes because of what Orion had said.
"Bro, I just love you that much to let you sleep on my bed." I laughed and threw him a pillow.
"Love you too, man." I just smirked while seeing him lying on his sofa.
For today's class, I got up so early. I bet she'll be late again today. I always saw her running every morning just to be on time, but she was approximately 30 minutes late now. It's a good thing that our professor this morning was different from yesterday.
"I'm sorry, Miss. I'm late." I hardly closed my eyes as I saw how she effortlessly got the attention of our professor. She sternly looked at her.
"Come inside!" Astrid smiled and sat beside me as if nothing had happened.
"I'm sleepy." I just shook my head as I heard her mumbling. She started to rest her chin on her palm and try to get some z's as she always does. I nudged her as I saw our professor was going to look in our direction. She was really smart and managed to get straight A's, even if she's always sleeping in the class. What a legend!
"Stop it, Astrid!" She started biting her nails again as usual. She smiled and slightly nodded.
"Kolten, is there any chocolate in your bag?" She never stopped nagging me the whole period.
"I thought you will stop accepting chocolates from me?" I whispered and just rolled my eyes while getting some on my bag.
"Here." I handed her a bar of chocolate given by Orion's sister.
"Thanks, Kolten!" I shook my head as she yawned the moment our professor in History entered.
After our class was over, it seemed like a great achievement for her that she stayed awake the whole period. All I did was to stop her from trying to make this a nap room again. I don't have any idea how many times I woke her up just to not be caught by our professors."Kolten, what do you think about this shade? Does it look good on me?" She let me see the lipstick she quickly put on her lips.
"Huh? Y-Yeah." I stuttered. I actually don't see any difference, but I guess that was what she wanted to hear.
"Guys, let's go to the café!" Zette excitedly suggested.
"I'm in!" Lia joined her.
"Count me in. How 'bout you, bro?" Orion asked. Astrid looked at me and seemed like waiting for my answer. I slightly nodded. She came in the midst of Orion and me before she wrapped her arms around ours.
"It really has a great ambiance here! Let's take some pictures." Lia said in a loud voice.
"Keep it down, guys," Astrid said while Orion was at the counter to order something we can eat.
"Kolten, take some pictures of us." Zette pulled my arm. I got my phone and did as they wished.
"Let me see." Lia and Zette excitedly ran to get my phone and started scrolling. Orion sat beside me after putting a tray on the table. Astrid was the one who led the prayer before we ate.
"Astrid, there's someone who is asking for your number, a junior soccer player. Do you know him? The guy named Ziel Xeph Harris?" Lia giggled, but I saw her shaking her head as her response to Lia.
"Seriously? How come you did not know him?" Zette asked. I shot Orion with my indignant stare as he chirped and started to tease me again.
"I haven't watched their game yet, so I did not know any player from the soccer team." She got some tissues and wiped her fingertips.
"I already stalked him on his social media; he's so handsome and hot! I was so shocked as he come closer to our table in the cafeteria just to asked for your number. He's from the other department, so gentleman. And according to my sources, he didn't date anyone in our department, since he likes someone from the other department, and now I already knew the luckiest girl." I just hissed as I heard how Lia described that player.
I saw Zette nudged her as she saw me putting down the fork in my left hand, it seemed like she warned her to stop.
"Did you give him her number?" Orion asked in a serious manner.
"Not yet. I said that I will ask her first." She defended. Astrid seemed not to treat it as a big deal as she continued eating the slices of carrot I put on her plate.
"By the way, I heard that the dean of your department is planning to have a week's vacation after the final exams at the end of the month. They are not yet decided regarding the venue. But the pick would be on the beach or mountain. How I wish the Dean of our department is generous as Mr. O'Connor, all the expenses will be shouldered by him. He's really a generous-hearted gay so Kolten and Orion, you both beware, okay? We all know that the two of you are his main targets. He even asked the higher-ups just to be your professor in your major course." Zette warned us.
"Where did you both get that news?" Astrid asked while rummaging on her bag.
"Our classmates really feel so envious of your department so that they manage to have so many sources regarding that stuff and the likes," Lia explained while applying something on her cheeks.
"Why did you finish my drinks?" Astrid hits Orion and sounds so mad.
"I'm sorry, I thought it was mine." He burst into laughter while stopping her to punch him.
After we ate, Lia pulled Orion to take photos of them again, but this time, in the garden outside the café.
"Have this." I gave her mine. She accepted the glass I handed her.
"I'm sorry. I thought it wouldn't smudge." She got a tissue to wipe her lipstick on it.
"It's okay. I won't mind." I drank on it anyway.
"Won't you join them?" I asked as I saw her looking outside while biting the nail on her right thumb. I just grabbed her hand to stop her after seeing that she already put Band-Aids on some of her fingers again.
"Who would have thought that you actually finished the 10 bars of chocolates I brought?" I just shook my head with a scoff and pretended as if I was disappointed.
"Hey, it was not that much!" She seemed trying to recall the exact number of bars of chocolate she actually consumed for this day. I just smiled as I noticed her blue eyes that are having green rings around her iris. She tucked her hair on the back of her left ear and lightly ran her fingers through her long-straight-light-brown hair. I don't really like her additional piercing on the upper left side of her ear, but it made her look cool for some reason.
"I should not eat for a week!" I just chuckled and gently messed up her hair as I saw her reaction.
"I'm just kidding. You must eat more. You had already lost weight because of depriving yourself!" I really don't understand why she always minds her weight and chooses to deprive herself. I mean, she already had a slender body that made her look so fragile. She was now looking at her reflection in a mirror.
"I'm already tired and sleepy; you can join them if you want." She smiled before digging her hand from her bag.
"Kolten, look at this." She handed me her phone. I thought it was about astronomy again, but not this time.
"Want that?" I asked as I saw a guitar on her screen. She nodded and came near to me that made me felt as if there were some butterflies in my stomach for some reason.
"What do you think? Is it cool?" Her eyes were nailed on the screen of her phone.
"Yeah, It is." I simply nodded.
"This will be my birthday gift to you!" She said while scrolling from her gallery. I just smirked and shook my head. We're actually having the same birth date. It'll be this Sunday.
"No need for that." I resisted after knowing that she was about to buy it using her allowance.
"Don't worry, Kolten. I won't ask you to accept my love; it's just a simple gift. I just reminded you, just in case you haven't bought me a gift yet. I like to have the thing that makes you remember me, maybe something cute? Stuff like that." I snorted and laughed as she told the same line as the girl earlier.
"Don't use your allowance for it. But thanks for giving me an idea. Something like you? Easy!" I slightly messed up her hair. She just laughed and tried to comb her hair using her fingers.
"By the way, which do you prefer, basketball or soccer? I mean, what do you find interesting between the two?" She chuckled a bit before she answered.
"Boxing, I guess. Like what you did yesterday!" She burst into laughter. I just noticed by now how curly and naturally long are her lashes as they seemed to touch her eyelids.
"Why did you ask, all of a sudden?" She gave me an inquisitive look. She raised her brows as if waiting for me to answer.
"You don't give your number to a stranger, right?" I directly asked.
"I haven't tried that before. Is it about the guy that they were talking about? I actually don't find any reason for me to give him my number. Maybe he just wanted to ask me to join in networking." I just like how she always plays it so cool when it comes to this kind of stuff. I smirked and shook my head.
"Just have this instead." I put an orange-flavored lollipop in her hand as I saw her biting her nails again. It was given by Orion earlier, his sister put a lot on his bag.
"Kolten, be honest okay? Is there a product of sweets in your bag?" I gently pinched her nose and smiled as she hit me.
"That's from Sani. She gave us a lot of candies after playing with her." I just let her see a bunch of candy from Orion's younger sister.
"She's so sweet." She uttered. I looked away as I noticed that I have been gawking at her all this time.
"It's really hard to stop this habit of mine, I just find myself putting Band-Aids on my fingertips."
"Don't worry. It looks so cute." She hits me as I burst into laughter.
KOLTEN ZEDEKIEL'S POINT OF VIEW I was walking into a long hallway going to the third floor just to attend our last class for this day, there were just a few students here, probably most of the class had ended by this time. As I looked around, I noticed the newly painted white walls that somehow made it looks wider than it was. I even saw some students who were standing near the trimmed pinboards that were placed on the left side of this hallway. "Let's have a group study after class!" Luke suggested while standing in front of the class. He always liked the idea of doing a lot of activities together with the whole class which I found so boring. He stopped for a moment at took a glance at me as I entered into a squarish room that was well-maintained. I put down my black backpack in the backseat, right next to Astrid's. "Count me in!" I hardly nudged Orion to stop him as he shouted behind me. I did not know how this guy managed to
ASTRID TALITHA'S POINT OF VIEW Orion accompanied me home after we went to the café. I turned on the radio in his car but immediately moved it to another station as I heard a new rock song I always heard on the campus this past few days. It was not that I did not like the song, maybe I was just not really fond of that genre. "What are we going to talk about? Is there something bothering you?" I asked him seriously as I saw how his expression changed. "I have something to tell you." I got so nervous as I heard his serious tone of voice. "Is it about our assignment? I won't mind doing yours." He just shook his head and laughed a bit as I gave him a quick smile. "It's not abo
KOLTEN ZEDEKIEL'S POINT OF VIEW I rolled my eyes as I heard someone shouting and closed my door even before Orion got up here. I hastily entered into my bathroom which was actually designed by my Mom, from its fixtures, tile choices, and its exquisite finishing touches. She told me that the minimalist design of it was suiting for me. It was really different from all the bathrooms in our house, since theirs were so luxurious inspired. I saw a pile of white towels that were well-folded. It was probably made by my Mom. I saw the shining shower handles and handsets as I stepped into a sleek glass shower cubicle. Its walk-thru shower was custom-designed to have two sets of shower heads, body jets as well as sprays. I remember how happy Orion was after knowing that it was because Mom was thinking about him as she was plotting a desi
ASTRID TALITHA'S POINT OF VIEW Like every other day, I was sitting in front of a medium-sized mirror in my room where I used to do my daily make-up routine. I saw just felt the vibration of my phone that seemed on a silent mode by this time, it signified that I received a call. I just found out that I already had 11 missed calls from my mom. It was my mom again. "Hello, Mom." I loud speak it as I was looking for my favorite shade of eyeshadow. "Happy birthday, Astrid! I'm sorry. Did I wake you up? I'm just excited to greet you." I really missed her voice, and I was hoping that she will be with me on my next birthday. "It's okay, Mom. I already took bath. Sorry for missing your ca
KOLTEN ZEDEKIEL'S POINT OF VIEW "Before I forgot, what's the punishment?" Orion nudged me after she asked while we were making our way outside the transparent glass door of the restaurant. "I'll go ahead. Astrid, I already put my gift in your room." He placed a kiss on her forehead. "Bro, I'll sleep at your house." He tapped my shoulder before turning his back. "Thanks a lot, Orion. Take care." She waved at him. "Drive carefully, bro. There is nothing, buy something first." He cracked a grin before he nodded. I watched him walk back to his car and get in. He beeped before he drove away.
ASTRID TALITHA'S POINT OF VIEW I headed to a bookstore near our campus to look for the new edition of the book about celestial works, since my class will start later today, about 10:00 AM, I still have much time to roam around here. I almost spent all of my savings buying a lot of books I may find, especially after seeing new books launched by some of my favorite authors. Whenever I have a fight with Kolten and Orion, they knew where to bring me. They used to spoil me with a lot of books and let me use them as my advantage to save my allowance. That's how they bribe me! But in a serious speaking, if Lia and Zette were being satisfied buying and collecting cosmetic products of their favorite brands, buying and collecting books was my thing. I could not explain how satisfying it was whenever I finished at least one book in a week despite my hectic schedule this semester
ASTRID TALITHA'S POINT OF VIEW "Bro..." There was a tall and masculine guy who walked towards our table and talked to Kolten. "Won't you order anything?" He raised his hand and get the attention of the waiter, who immediately walked in our direction. "No need, bro. I'm with someone." Kolten simply answered and slightly tilted his head in my direction. Then there was a sudden change of expression in his eyes, it seemed like teasing him before turning his eyes on me. Kolten laughed a bit and slightly punch his chest. "Astrid, right?" He laid his hand on me. I looked at Kolten before accepting it. I gave him an inquisitive lo
KOLTEN ZEDEKIEL'S POINT OF VIEW "Kolten, let's enjoy this night. Since Astrid is not around, you can do what you want. Let's dance!" Lia looked so drunk while shaking my arms. She acted so wild and aggressively messed up her hair while pulling me on the dance floor. "Are you drunk? Let's just go home. I'll drive you home." I hold her arm to accompany her. "No, Kolten. I don't want to go home. Let's just enjoy this night together." She aggressively threw herself at me. "Lia, stop this. Let's go. It's getting late." I got her bag and led her outside the club. "Why, Kolten? Is it because Astrid is not the one who is asking for your favorites, so you can't grant it?" I heard
ASTRID TALITHA'S POINT OF VIEW "Astrid, I will book later when everyone's in their room." He put down my bag and gave me my phone that I probably left during outside. He went outside as he saw me about to change my clothes. I always admired him for being so gentlemanly. I took a bath as quickly as I could knowing that he might be waiting for me outside, I was holding my wireless hairdryer. I was wearing a white halter top paired up with denim shorts. I dialed his number while I was in the front of the mirror, but I heard it ringing inside, he probably left it here. But as the moment I open the door, I saw him standing outside before flashing a genial smile, he had always been this pure and genuine. "Why won't you just come inside?" He just smiled before looking to his right, which made me automatically look in the same
KOLTEN ZEDEKIEL'S POINT OF VIEW I decided to book my flight going to the U.S. after finding out that her grandfather had passed away without her knowledge. I could not contact her. I did not know if she just blocked me or what, but it was devastating that she broke up with me, not even telling me the real reason. I wanted to give her time and understand her situation, thinking that she might need it to finally accept what happened. I went there during Christmas and left a flower for her grandfather's tomb. I used to watch her from afar and see her smiling along with her mom and grandma, that was exactly the smile I was longing to see for a long time. — "There she is." Zette waving her both hands. I got so nervous about seeing her half run in our direction. I began to notice a lot of things that have been changed from the last time I saw h
ASTRID TALITHA'S POINT OF VIEW It was a Sunday morning after I went to church with Mom and Grandma, I usually put my phone in silent mode. But the moment I opened it, I saw a lot of missed calls from Zette. So I tried to call her back. "Is there anything wrong? Sorry for missing your calls, I was attending a mass when you called me. She chuckled a bit like she always did. This made me remember how she used to giggle whenever she was about to say and announce something special. "I'm sorry for disturbing you, but I just really want you to know about it first. You already knew that Samuel and I had been engaged after I graduated, right? The original plan would be next year, remember? But it had been moved so suddenly, because hie grandmother wanted to attend our wedding before going back abroad, and you should be there. I'm honestly won't wa
ASTRID TALITHA'S POINT OF VIEW Christmas Eve, when I and Kolten had a great fight over the phone. He did not want things to end up by that. He did not even ask me about the photos I was talking about, it only meant that he already knew about it. Mom asked me about him, but I used to change the topic and told her that our situation was really complicated. My brother and I slept in our Grandfather's room that night, since he wanted us to stay with him. We already knew that he was too tired and just wanted to spend his time with us. Ashton and I were holding both hands until he fell asleep. It was past 12:00 in the midnight when Grandpa woke up and greeted us a Merry Christmas, and I was so glad that we spent our Christmas here with them. "He was probably just waiting for you." My big brother wiped away my tears and pulled me closer to him. I never thought that it would be his last Christmas with us. After I broke up with Kolten tha
KOLTEN ZEDEKIEL'S POINT OF VIEW "Bro, it is good to see you. I was actually planning to fetch you later if you did not shoe up in my party." Toby ran and show his arm on my shoulder as he saw my on his birthday party. He, together with his team members, had been one of my great rival in basketball, the one whom Orion and I met in the street during our vacation in my grandparents' place when we were still in the grade school. Orion saw him in the campus one Thursday morning, and that was when we found out that he had transferred to our university as his had been decided to look for his grandparents at their not that far from the campus. "It's been a while, bro. Why won't you join in the varsity of your department this intramural?" He handed me a bottle of alcohol he just got in the bucket full of ice. "I just got in, bro. I just went back home during the intramural, reason why I did not make it to play. Orion c
ASTRID TALITHA'S POINT OF VIEW "I ever thought that I will be able to taste a breakfast prepared by our princess." I seated myself right next to my grandpa after preparing a bowl of fried rice and a sunny-side-up taught by Kolten's grandma. Grandpa manage to give me a genial smile which I longed for. I hugged him tightly while wiping my tears that I keep from falling. "Grandpa, I began to like cooking and baking. Kolten's grandmother taught me new recipes every time we visited them in their province." I handed him a glass of water while he was still looked so amazed thinking that I could not be able to learn how to cook. I easily noticed how he lose weight from the moment I last saw him. My brother called me and probably wanted to see grandpa. "Grandpa, someone wanna se
ASTRID TALITHA'S POINT OF VIEW His smile was really precious. I was longing to hear his jokes and his laughter. I missed his masculine scent that never fades, even if he had been so sweaty after playing with me. I could not help by to cry after hearing his voice last night. He might be suffering a big time. I could hear how he tried not to break his voice while talking with me. Mom told me that he could not sleep at night without the help of some medicines to ease the pain. I could not imagine hearing how he utter in pain. I put down my picture with my grandpa that had been framed for almost a decade. He was carrying me that moment. It was so odd, but I hadn't slept the entire night, I didn't know, but my brain just couldn't turn off, and there were way too many things on my mind. I already made my mind to visit my grandparents abroad since my semestral break goes fro
KOLTEN ZEDEKIEL'S POINT OF VIEW After our final examination, everyone was excited after hearing the official announcement from our department's dean about the rumor of having a week's vacation. What excites them the most was the idea that Mr. O'Connor was the one to shoulder all the expenses that will be incurred. "How I wished I could join you, guys." Lia and Zette looked so sloppy the moment they have heard about the announcement. Orion was laughing while teasing them. I saw how Astrid threw him her indignant stare As if trying to stop him from teasing the two. "You should enjoy that one week. Besides, you really deserve it, guys." I just patted Zette's head as I forced myself not to laugh after seeing how Orion walked out while laughing so hard while she was grimacin
KOLTEN ZEDEKIEL'S POINT OF VIEW We used to visit my grandparents whenever we were not busy during weekends. I told them about our relationship, Grandpa gave me some pieces of advice, he told me that those were the same advice he gave to Dad before. Grandma talked with Astrid in the kitchen while seemed like teaching her how to bake. I even heard them laughing about something. The moment we heard something burdening was the same time when we heard Grandma scolding her. Grandpa and I just let out a deep sigh for the nth time as hearing them, that actually happened every time we went there, but I guess, Astrid used to her attitude as she even bought and brought her own apron whenever we visited them. I took a bath early this since our couch strictly told that we should have been there as early as seven o'clock in the morn
