Justin’s POV

I was in a hurry. I’d just spoken to Jace on the phone and he’d just told me the worst news I could ever imagine.

I was such a selfish bastard.

The whole day I’d been mad, thinking she’d stood me up. I was mad that she’d kept me waiting at the coffee shop for hours, not knowing that she was in the hospital, fighting for her life.

“What did Jace say?” Bella asked when I picked up my car keys and headed out of the house. I didn’t reply, I wasn’t in the mood to start that conversation with her.“Are you going somewhere? Did something happen?” She continued, following me outside the house to the garage.

“I’ll be right back,” I told her just as I hopped into my car.

“Justin—” she was about to say something, her worry etched on her face. But I never waited to hear it because I zoomed off, leaving her behind.

I’d just be preparing for bed when I received that call from Jace.

“Ayva’s at the hospital, she got into an accident. Can you come now? She’d refused to talk to anyone

Ayva’s POV“Ayva, please don’t do anything stupid,” Olivia said with her eyes glistened with tears. My brows furrowed in confusion as I tried to make sense of her words. What the hell was she talking about?“It’s not the end of the world Ayva, you shouldn’t do this. We can help you, I can help you, please Ayva, come down from that place.”Help? I scoffed internally. Deep down, I believed that no one could truly help me. No amount of assistance could bring back my daughter or alleviate the pain I felt. They couldn't possibly understand what it's like to lose years of your life, waking up one day to discover that almost a decade had vanished along with everything you owned.“Give me your hands, please.” Justin pleaded and my gaze shifted from Liv’s to his. The look he had in his eyes was a bit… I don’t know but he looked as if I was deranged and…“No,” I said, gazing up at the dark sky again. The twinkly stars made me feel so at ease, it was so peaceful, so perfect that, I could feel

Ayva’s POVI wasn't crazy, maybe just a little depressed with a touch of anxiety, but definitely not mad. However, Olivia seemed to think otherwise. She believed I had gone off the deep end just because I had a habit of checking the locks on the doors multiple times to ensure that we were safe and no one could break in. According to her, it wasn’t normal to do that about twelve times in a minute. She’d also caught me talking to the stars a few times. The first time she witnessed it, she cried, and since then, she'd been trying to stop me from going out at night because she thought it wasn’t "normal" to have conversations with the skies. If only she knew how much better the stars are at holding conversations than humans, she wouldn't judge me like that. And now, I found myself on my way to the psychiatrist's office with Olivia. At first, I was like, "No, there’s no way I’m going there with you." I even got pretty mad at her for thinking that I had started to lose it. She even went as f

Justin’s POV"Justin, this isn’t..." I never got to hear what Ayva was trying to say before my fist connected with his jaw. The impact sent him staggering back, almost losing his balance."Stop!" Ayva shrieked. "Justin, stop." Ayva grabbed my arm, trying to hold me back, but I brushed her away and landed another blow to his jaw.I never would've thought that the bastard was still alive. After he'd tried to ruin my life.I clenched the front of his shirt with one hand before deliverin' g another punch to his jaw. Behind me, Olivia and Ayva were screaming, trying to intervene, but I was too consumed by rage to pay them any mind. He made the whole world believe he was dead, and I was ready to send him straight back to hell where he truly belonged.I tackled him to the ground, bones crunching, flesh tearing, and blood dripping. He didn't even try to fight back, which only fueled my anger even more. But as soon as my eyes locked onto his left arm, I froze. There was something strange about

Ayva’s POVJustin glanced at Aiden, then turned his skeptical gaze towards me. It was as if he half expected me to burst out laughing, saying it was all a joke and that Zion was actually the one standing before us.I wish I could say that, I really do. I wish it were Zion standing there, so he could pay for all the suffering I went through. But unfortunately, that wasn't the case.I had known that Zion had a twin since we started dating, but I had never actually met him until that day when I accidentally bumped into him on the road. Zion used to talk about how Aiden was the "evil" version of him, but now that I had gotten to know Aiden, I could confidently say that Zion had lied. Aiden was everything I had thought Zion was, and Zion had been the one pretending to be someone he wasn't.Justin started to speak, still visibly confused about the whole situation with Aiden and Zion. "I... I don't know what to say," he stammered. "I mean, I'm sorry for... hitting you. I had no idea about,

Ayva’s POV“Best friend?” Amanda asked again, her gaze shifting between me and Olivia. "When did you two meet?" She chuckled lightly. "I mean, I've never seen her before." I could sense a hint of disdain in her voice. "But I missed you so much. I missed my best friend. You have no idea how hurt I was when I heard that you left the city without even telling me." She pouted, and inwardly, I couldn't help but scoff at her expression. It was funny how she never thought of me when I was kidnapped and accused of murder, but suddenly she missed me just because I left the city without informing her. Or rather, because Olivia was standing there, and the mere thought of me having someone else by my side annoyed her."I don't know how long you've known Ayva, but she and I go way back," Amanda said, and in that instant, Olivia locked eyes with me, silently questioning, 'Is this the Amanda you mentioned?'Almost immediately, I felt Olivia attempting to move from behind me. Knowing what Olivia was

Justin’s POVIt was a happy day for me, it was supposed to be because not only did I succeed in securing a huge contract with the Russians that I’d been chasing five years ago, but I also had Frederick, my dad, finally say those words I'd always longed to hear from him, "I'm proud of you, son." But strangely, instead of feeling elated, I just felt this weird numbness. Like, his words didn't have the impact I thought they would. Maybe it was because I'd grown up and was no longer that young guy who desperately craved his dad's approval. Or maybe it was because I was still mad at him for having the audacity to divorce my mom after cheating on her all 32 years of their marriage. Yeah, it's definitely because of that."Or maybe it's because you can't stand seeing Ayva with Aiden." A little voice at the back of my head said. Normally, I'd argue with that voice, but at that moment, I couldn't. How could I, when Aiden looked exactly like the man I wanted to see behind bars? If it weren't

Justin’s POVAfter I finished feeding Bri, I felt too upset to go anywhere. I called Jace to cancel our plans and told him I didn't want to go to the nightclub to celebrate my win anymore. But then he mentioned that he had invited some friends over, especially Ayva, and suddenly I changed my mind about staying in.I hadn't seen Ayva since the incident at the psychiatric hospital, not because I didn't want to, but because I had been busy with work and she had been focused on rebuilding her life.As soon as I walked into the private clubhouse, Jace exclaimed, "Let's get him something strong so the party can get started!" This earned a few oohs from the other people he had invited. He handed me a glass, and just by sniffing it, I knew it was strong. Jace didn't drink, so it seemed like he was trying to live vicariously through me, enjoying the drink he wished he could have but couldn’t because he quit alcohol.I took a large swig of my drink, and the alcohol burned the back of my throat,

Ayva's POVI suddenly woke up from sleep, gasping for breath and sweating profusely. My hand immediately reached for my bedside lamp and switched it on to illuminate the dark room. 3:07 am, I noticed the time displayed on the digital alarm clock. My breath was still heavy as I kept replaying my terrifying nightmare in my mind over and over again. What made it even scarier was the fact that the nightmare was about something that had happened before. It was the day I had that accident, the day my water broke. But unlike the events of that day, I wasn't the one driving my car but rather the masked man who'd taunted me for years. In my nightmare, he'd refused to drive me to the hospital because 'he'd never let me have another man's child' and instead had purposely driven us off a cliff. I died with my unborn baby on the spot which was what jolted me awake. I glanced down at my stomach and traced the long fading scar on it with tears in my eyes. For two years, I thought the scar was a r

Justin’s POV“Mom!” I warned with a glare as I tried to caution her. She continued glaring at Ayva whom I’d now pulled to stand behind me, shielding her from any other impending attack from my mom. “Oh my, oh God! What is happening? My son has- oh lord! I no longer recognize the man I birthed.” She staggered, but Emily held her before she could fall. “Where is he? What happened to my son?” She cried out dramatically, attracting unnecessary attention from passersby. My jaw ticked, “Mom, this is not the time or place for this.” I gritted through my teeth. “Oh Emily what has happened to your brother? How could he be so cruel to me?” She continued, ignoring my warnings. “Stop this now or I’m going to leave.” I kept on clenching and unclenching my teeth, trying to keep the anger and irritation o felt away. “Now he’s threatening me. Justin’s POVI felt like shit. Seeing Ayva so broken, shocked, and disappointed in me made me want to disappear. I was beyond embarrassed. And the worst part was I had no excuse, nothing I could say to fix how she felt about me now, which just made everything worse.I’ve had my suspicions about Allison for years but didn't confirm it until a month ago when Amanda called Ayva to the hospital. I half expected Ayva to catch on when she was told she was a match with Allison. It seemed fishy that neither Amanda nor Aiden was a match, but Ayva was. And when I realized she hadn't figured it out, I promised myself I'd tell her when the time was right. If only I knew that jerk would beat me to it.Ayva wiped her nose with the back of her hand. I offered her a handkerchief, but she didn't take it, choosing to wipe her tears with her sleeves instead."What else?" She sniffed. "What else are you keeping from me? It feels like there's always something you're hiding." Her words hit hard. "Tell me

Ayva’s POV“Ayva, how did you-”“Answer my question, Justin!” I snapped before taking a deep breath to steady my nerves. I shouldn’t be getting angry with him, not when he was most likely the only one who could help me find her. “I…” I sucked in a deep air into my lungs. “I just want to know Justin. I need to know where she is and— please,” I grabbed his hand, my desperation evident in my eyes. “Tell me the truth, I promise I won’t get mad.” I wasn’t exactly sure I could keep that promise but it didn’t matter at that moment. I was ready to do anything, say anything to make him tell me what I wanted to hear. He sighed, casting his gaze downwards to his desk before looking up at me again. With a heavy breath, he asked, “How did you find out? Who told you about this?” I shook my head at him in disappointment. “Seeing as you’re avoiding answering my question, that means you knew about it. How long Justin? How long have you known this? How long have you… watched me suffer in silence. W

Ayva’s POVI suddenly shot up in bed, startled by a dream that had felt more like a nightmare and had sent cold sweat down my back. My breath came in short gasps, and I was drenched in sweat as if the nightmare had seeped into my waking world.Letting out a heavy sigh, I turned my gaze to the alarm clock resting on the bedside table. It had just ticked past ten. Despite sleeping for nearly ten hours, it felt like only ten seconds had passed since I closed my eyes.I fumbled around the bed, searching for my phone, and finally unlocked it. As I scrolled through my missed calls and messages, a text from my boss caught my eye. He’d asked if I was still interested in being a part of the company or if I’d simply removed myself. At that moment, his message held little significance to me; the thought of losing my job didn't faze me. Instead, my mind lingered on the absence of any message or missed calls from Justin, the one I had been eagerly anticipating. The disappointment that I felt was i

After all neither Justin nor Bella were aware that I was going to drop by."I'm sorry, I was just heading out," I muttered as I made my way towards the stairs. But Bella wasn't letting me off that easy. "I asked you a question," she stated firmly, making me stop and turn to face her. "I think I deserve to know why you were in my husband's room while he was sleeping."Her stress on 'husband' was clear, like she was reminding me she was still married to him and had every right to ‘interrogate me.’ "I mean, you've gotta be a whole new level of shameless to show up here knowing full well that his wife was gonna be home with him," she remarked, taking deliberate steps toward me.
