Break the rules!

Catherine felt her mother tense slightly at her question. She glanced up briefly and offered her daughter a slight smile.

“Of course, darling. Here. This is yours,” she stated softly as she handed the necklace to her daughter.

“Thank you,” Catherine murmured before putting the necklace on.

Her mother cleared her throat lightly. “Catherine…” she began, her brows lowering slightly.

“I talked to your brother the other day.”

“Oh? What happened? Did he say anything that would help explain what you mean?” Catherine asked curiously, tilting her head to the side.

“No, nothing too unusual. He just seemed confused. He didn’t understand why you were upset with him yesterday. Why you refused to speak to him,” Catherine’s mother explained softly before sighing.

“Maybe he doesn’t understand why you won’t forgive him.”

“Mom,” Catherine muttered sadly.

“He doesn’t understand me very well. Especially now. He thinks that he knows all of my secrets, but he doesn’t. He doesn’t know anything about me.
